Chapter 20 Part 3 Losing the Bank of London - 6

"Okay!" I said, "well, like the card says, I realize that I—" I swallow—"may not be the perfect... ideal client. But, I believe we can work together to find a way to achieve mutual understanding." So far so good. Those few words were prepared by me in advance, and I have already memorized them by heart. "So what?" Gavin said.I cleared my throat. "Well... given circumstances beyond my control at the moment, I've found myself financially a little... that. Because, I was thinking, maybe you can give me a temporary..." "Out of love..." Suzie interjected.

"Out of caring...give me a little overdraft, it's...for a short period of time..." "Well-intentioned," Suzy interrupted again. "Well-intentioned...temporary...for a short period of time. I will try my best to return it as soon as possible." I finished speaking, panting slightly. "Are you done?" said John Gavin, folding his arms across his chest. "Well... yes, it's over." I looked at Suzie, expecting her confirmation. "Yes, we're done." The room was very quiet, no one was talking anymore, John Gavin tapped the table lightly with the ballpoint pen in his hand. Then he raised his face and said, "No."

"No?" I looked at him, confused. "That's just one sentence... can't you?" "Yes, yes, no." He moved his chair back. "That's it, I have to—" "What do you mean no?" Suzy said. "You can't just say no! You have to weigh the pros and cons." "I've weighed it," said John Gavin. "There's only gain, there's no loss." "You're talking to one of your bank's most valuable customers!" Suzie said, raising her voice, but looking a little dejected. "This is Miss Becky Bloomwood, a well-known TV subject matter Lofty, limitless!"

"This is Miss Becky Bloomwood who extended her overdraft limit six times last year," said John Gavin in a piercing voice. Miss Lumwood lied repeatedly, kept avoiding bank appointments, and showed no respect to the bank staff, as if she thought we opened the bank to satisfy her unlimited desire for leather shoes. I have seen your file, Blue Miss Mwood. I know you." The atmosphere in the room fell into a depressing dullness.I felt my cheeks getting hotter and hotter, and I felt a sense of panic in my heart, afraid that I would cry out. "How dare you be so rude!" Suzy yelled. "Becky's just having a hard time. Would you like to be in the tabloids? Would you like to be followed?"

"Oh, you said this." There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice, "You want me to be sad with you?" "Yes!" I said, "No. Not really. But I think you should give me another chance." "You think I should give you another chance. But what have you done to qualify for another chance?" He shook his head, and the room fell silent again. "I just... I thought after explaining to you..." My voice faded away, and I gave Suzie a desperate look, which meant: It seems that it is over. "Hey, why is it getting hot in here?" Suzie suddenly said in a slightly hoarse voice. She took off her coat, tossed her hair back, and ran a hand to her cheek. "I'm really... hot. Are you hot, John?"

John Gavin gave her an exasperated look. "So, Bloomwood, what on earth are you trying to explain to me?" "Okay. I mean I do want to sort things out," I said, my voice trembling a little. "You know, I want to have some wiggle room. I want to be on my own, to stand on my own. and--" "Self-support?" interrupted John Gavin sharply. "You're on handouts from the bank, and 'self-support'? If you're really living on your own, you're not overdrawn. Assets! Others can say that, are you qualified to say that too?" "I...I know," I said, my voice low as a bug, "but the truth is, I'm overdrawn. I just wanted to—"

"What do you think? Think you're special? You're different because you're on TV? The usual rules don't apply to you? The bank owes you money?" His voice shook my head like a hammer drill.Suddenly, I couldn't take it anymore. "No!" I yelled, "I didn't think that way. I didn't think that way at all. I know I'm stupid and I know I'm doing something wrong. But I think everyone does something wrong sometimes." I Take a deep breath. "You know, if you go to the files, you'll see that I did pay off the overdraft. I paid off the store as well. Yes, I owe a little money now, but I'll try to pay it off --and you're so... sneering at me. Well, I'll get through this without your help. Let's go, Suzy."

I stood up trembling slightly. My eyes are burning, but I won't cry in front of him.I made a painful decision, and that decision gave me the courage to turn and face him. "Endwidge - the customer comes first," I said. A long, suffocating silence followed.Without saying a word, I opened the door and walked out of the house. On the way home, my blood was still boiling, fueled by this powerful determination.I want to prove it to him.I'll give that John Gavin a look.Show all these people a look.Show the whole world. I will pay off the debt.I don't know how to pay it back--but I'll do it.I'll get another job as a waitress or something.I'm going to make as much money as I can, as fast as I can. Then, I would run to the bank, take out a large check, throw it in front of him, and say to him in a haughty, sharp tone——

"Bex?" Suzie grabbed my arm, and I came back to see that I had already walked through the door. "Are you all right?" Suzy asked, still worried, when we entered the room when she opened the door. "That guy, what a beast." "I'm fine," I said, looking up. "I'll show him. I'll pay off the overdraft. Wait and see. I'll show them all." "Excellent!" said Suzie. She bent down and picked up a letter from the floor at the door of the house. "It's your letter," she said. "It's from Good Morning Coffee."

"Oh, really!" I tore open the envelope, and I couldn't help but feel great hope in my heart. It may be that the program team is going to give me a new job.The wages are staggeringly high, more than enough to cover those overdrafts immediately. It could be that they fired Emma and asked me to replace her as the main presenter! Or it could be...   Oh my God.Oh my gosh, impossible. east-west television production company "Morning Coffee" program group London Corner Street NW8 4DW To: Ms. Rebecca Bloomwood Unit 2, 4 Burnie Road, London SW6 8FD Dear Becky: First of all, I feel like you were unlucky to be featured in that paper! I must stress that this is only a temporary arrangement. However, it would be much appreciated if you would return the East-West TV production company access pass in the enclosed envelope and sign the release. The work you've done for us has been fantastic (that's for sure!).We have also heard that you will have the opportunity to fully demonstrate your talents elsewhere. We therefore trust that the present arrangement will certainly not have any adverse effect on a man of your caliber. But unfortunately, a masterpiece is only 500 words - no matter how wonderful - 500 words is too difficult to form a self-help book. You suggest that other sections could be "filled with photos", but unfortunately this is not feasible. Therefore, it is with great sadness that I have decided that this writing project is no longer suitable for implementation, and please return our advance deposit to us immediately.
