赵王没有听从虞卿的建议,和平阳君商量讲和的事,派遣郑朱到秦国,秦国接待了郑朱。赵王召见虞卿说:“我派平阳君和秦国讲和,秦国已经接纳了郑朱,您觉得怎么样?”虞卿说:“大王您讲和一定不能成功,军队一定会大败。因为天下庆贺战争胜利的人都在秦国了。再说郑朱是赵国地位显贵的人,他到秦国,秦王一定会拿这事来张扬。那么楚、魏就会认为赵国已经和秦国讲和,也就不会来救援您。秦国知道天下诸侯不会来救
