to mary 1 Quench the flame of sorrow from your eyes, maiden, This flame struggles in your weary eyes; Dare to borrow determination from the ruins of fate, You should persevere; Because of the golden light of the morning glow, It may not be so bright and beautiful, Like the brilliance that shines on you, That unshakable, most beautiful radiance. 2 However, whether it is broken, the thread of fate—— Has it bound thy lovely soul to fortune? It left you in such a heartless world, Make you heartbroken and sad? But you, mournful beauty, Though drinking the bitter wine of sorrow, And dream, you will meet the one you love,

In heaven, never break up again. 3 Such beautiful dreams as you have embraced, I am willing to give my life in exchange; I will die a martyr with a smile on my face, To the bloodless shrine of love. You are willing to die for the treasure in your heart; If I, too, possess such a precious treasure, I would never trade it for old age, In exchange for sunken cheeks and gray hair. 1810-1811 Translated by Yang Xiling
