What is meditation? Meditation is not an Indian method; it is not just a technique. You cannot learn it.It is a kind of growth: the growth of your whole life, from the growth of your whole life.Meditation is not something that can be added to your present state. It can come to you only through a fundamental transformation, through a metamorphosis. It is a flowering, a growth.Growth always comes from the whole; it is not increase. You have to grow towards meditation. You have to rightly understand the full flowering of this personality.Otherwise one is likely to play tricks on oneself, one is likely to occupy oneself with all kinds of tricks of the mind. There are many tricks! Not only can they fool you, not only do you get nothing and you get hurt in a real sense. The attitude that there is a certain skill in meditation - that meditation is a dharma - is fundamentally wrong. When one starts playing tricks of the mind, the quality of the mind starts to deteriorate.

In terms of the way the mind currently exists. It is not meditative. Before meditation can happen. The whole mind has to change.Well, in terms of its current way of existence. What is the mind? How does it work? The mind is always talking. You can understand words, you can understand language. You can understand the conceptual structure of thinking, but that is not thinking.Instead, it's avoiding thinking. You see a flower and you verbalize it; you see a man crossing the road and you verbalize it.The mind can convert everything that exists into language.Language then becomes a barrier, a prison. For a meditative mind, the constant translation of things into words, of existence into words, is the hindrance.

So the first requirement of the meditative mind is: to be aware that you are constantly verbalizing and to be able to stop it.Just look at things; don't put them into words.Be aware of their presence but don't put them into words.Let things exist without words; let people exist without words; let circumstances exist without words. That is not impossible; that is natural. Its current state of existence is man-made.But we have become so used to it, it has become so mechanical that we are not even aware that we are constantly translating experience into words. The sunrise is there. You are never aware of the gap between seeing it and expressing it.You see the sun, you feel it, and immediately you put it into words. The gap between seeing and expressing disappears. One has to be aware that sunrise is not a word.It is a fact, an existence. The mind always automatically translates experience into words. The language then stands between you and the experience.

Meditation means living without words, living without words.sometimes.It happens naturally. When you are in love, you are feeling the moment and not the words.Whenever two lovers are very close to each other, they become very peaceful. That's not to say they don't have something to express.on the contrary. They have so much to say.But languages are never there; they cannot be there. They appear only when love dies. If the two lovers have never worked out, it means that love is dead. Now, they are filling that gap with words. When love is alive, language is not there, because love itself is so overwhelming, so penetrating that it has crossed the barriers of language and writing. And, as is often the case, barriers of language and writing can only be overcome in love.

Meditation is the climax of love: not loving a person but loving the whole being. From my point of view, meditation is a dynamic relationship with the whole existence around you.If you can love any environment then you are meditating. This is not a trick of the mind.It is not a way to calm the mind.Rather, it requires a deep awareness of the mechanics of the mind.A gap occurs as soon as you recognize your mechanical habits of expression, your mechanical habits of translating existence into language. It is spontaneous. It follows your awareness like a shadow. The real question is not how to meditate but knowing why you are not meditating. The process of meditation is negative. It doesn't add anything to you, it cancels what has been added.

Society cannot exist without language; it needs language. But existence does not require it.I am not saying that your existence should be without language. You have to use it.But you have to be able to turn on and off the mechanics of the expression. When you exist as a social being, the mechanism of language is needed; but when you are alone with existence, you must be able to switch it off.If you can't turn it off -- if it goes on and on and you can't stop it -- then you've become its slave. The mind should be the tool, not the master. When the mind becomes the master, a state of non-return occurs. When cooperation becomes the master, when your knowledge becomes the master, there is a state of meditation. So meditation means becoming the master of the mechanism of the mind.

The mind, and the workings of the mind's language function, are not ultimate. You are beyond it; existence is beyond doing it.Awareness is beyond language; existence is beyond language. When awareness and being are one, they merge with each other. This communion is meditation. Language must be abandoned.I'm not saying you have to suppress it or rule it out.I just mean it doesn't need to be your habit 24 hours a day.when you walk. You need to move your legs. But if you're sitting, they keep moving. Then you are crazy. You must be able to turn them off.Likewise, language cannot be there when you are not speaking to others. It is a communication technique. When you are not communicating with anyone. It shouldn't be there.

If you can do this, you can go into meditation.Meditation is a process of growth.rather than a technique.Technology is always dead, so others can add to it for you.But the process is always alive. It grows, it expands. Language is needed but you cannot stay in it forever.Sometimes there must be no language expression. You just exist. It's not like you're completely idle.Awareness is there, and it is more sensitive and more vivid than language.Because words numbed it.Language is necessarily repetitive, so it creates boredom.Language is more important to you.The more it tires you out. Existence is never repetitive.Every rose is a new rose, brand new.It didn't exist before. It will never be taken seriously either. However, when we call it a rose. The word "rose" is a repetition. It's always been there; it's always been there. You're always killing the new with old words.

Being is always young, language is always old.Through language you escape being, you escape life.Because language is dead. The more entangled you are with language, the more you are deadened by it.A scholar is totally dead because he is totally language, writing. Sartre called his autobiography "Words".We live in words.Words live, we don't.In the end, we have nothing but piles and piles of words.Words are like photos. As soon as you see something alive, take a picture of it.The photos are to die for. Then you combine the photos of the dead into an album.A person who has not lived in meditation is like a dead album. There are only pictures of words in it, only memories.Nothing is lived; everything is just expressed in words.

Meditation means living fully, but you can live fully only when you are at ease.By quiet I do not mean unconsciousness. You can be quiet, unconscious, but it is not a living stillness. You missed it again. You can perform self-hypnosis through mantras.Just by repeating a word you can stir up such a deep boredom in the mind that it falls asleep. You fall into dreamland, into unconsciousness. If you go on singing rom, rom, rom, the mind will fall asleep. Then the language barrier is gone, but you are unconscious. Meditation means that there can be neither speech nor awareness.Otherwise you will not be in communion with existence. No mantra will help you, no chanting will help you.Self-hypnosis is not meditation. On the contrary, the state of self-hypnosis is a degradation. It does not transcend language; it descends lower than language.

So drop all the spells, drop all these techniques.Let time exist in a place without words. You cannot use incantations to exclude words, because that process itself uses words. You cannot kill language with words; that is impossible. So what should I do?In fact, you can do nothing but understand.Anything you can do can only come from where you are.You are confused, you are not meditating, your mind is not quiet, so anything that comes from you can only create more confusion. All you can do right now is start to be aware of how the mind works. That's all - just be aware.Awareness has nothing to do with words. It is an act of being.rather than acts of the mind. So, the first thing is to be aware.Seek to know the process of your mind, to know how your mind works.Once you are aware of the functioning of your mind, you are not the mind.Wisdom itself means that you are transcendent and isolated, a witness. And now, the more aware you become, the more you can see the gap between experience and words. The gaps are there, and you are so unaware that you never see them. There is always a gap between two words, no matter how imperceptible or small the gap may be.Otherwise the two characters could not be two; they become one. There is always a gap, a silence, between two notes. Two words or two notes cannot be two unless there is a gap between them. The gap has always been there. But one has to feel it really consciously, really attentively. The more aware you become, the slower the mind becomes. It is always relative. The less you are aware, the faster your mind is; the more you are aware, the slower the process of the mind. When you become more and more aware of the mind. The mind slows down and the gaps between thoughts widen. Then you can see them. It's like a movie. When the projector is running at low speed, you can see those gaps.If I raise my hand, this action must be filmed in a thousand segments. Each segment is a separate photo. If these thousand individual photographs pass quickly before your eyes.So that you cannot see those gaps, then you will see a continuous process of raising hands. But at very low speeds, you can see those gaps. The mind is like a movie. The gap is there. The more you pay attention to your mind, the more you will see them.It is like a gestalt photo: a photo contains two separate images at the same time. You can see the one image or you can see the other image. But you cannot see two images at the same time.It may be a picture of an elderly woman. At the same time it is a photograph of a young woman.but.If you fixate on one of them, you do not see the other; and when you fixate on the other, the first is eliminated.Even if you are well aware that you have seen two images, you cannot see them several times at the same time. It is the same with the mind.If you see the words, you cannot see the gaps, and if you see the gaps, you cannot see the words and every word is followed by a gap, and every gap is followed by a word. But you cannot see both at the same time.If you stare at the gap, the words will disappear and you will suddenly fall into meditation. Awareness that is only on the words is not meditative, awareness that is only on the gaps is meditative.Whenever you are aware of the gap.Text will be blanked out.If you look closely, you cannot find words; you can only find gaps. You can feel the difference between two words, but you cannot feel the difference between two gaps.Literals are always plural and gaps are always singular. They dissolve into one another.Meditation is focusing on the gap.In this way, the entire gestalt changes. There is one more thing that must be understood. If you are looking at a gestalt photograph and your attention is focused on the image of the elderly woman, you cannot see the other image. But if you keep focusing on the image of the elderly woman -- if you continue to focus on the image of her, if you give your full attention to the image of her -- at some point, your focus changes and suddenly the old woman is gone , and another image appeared there. What's going on here? This is because the mind cannot sustain concentration for long.It has to change.Or it has to sleep. There are only two possibilities. If you constantly focus on one thing. The mind goes to sleep. It cannot remain stationary; it is a living process. If you bore it, it will sleep to escape your sluggish concentration. So it can go on living, living in the dream. This is the style of the Maharishi Mahesh Yuga. It's peaceful, it's refreshing, it helps your physical health and spiritual balance, but it's not meditation.Self-hypnosis can also achieve the same effect. In Hindi, the word "mantra" means suggestion. It is a serious mistake to think of it as meditation. It is not. If you think it is meditation, you will never seek real meditation. That is the practice And the real harm that the propagandists of these practices are doing to you. It's purely psychologically anesthetizing yourself. So, don't use any spells to clear words from the road.Just be aware of the words and your mind's focus will automatically shift to the gap. If you agree with the text. You'll keep jumping from one text to another, and you'll miss the gaps between them.Another text is the new focal point. The mind keeps shifting; the focus keeps shifting. But if you don't identify with the words, if you're just a watcher -- stand alone, just watching the words go by -- then the whole focus shifts, you'll notice the gap. It's like you are on the road.Watching passersby. One has passed and another has not yet come. There was a gap there; the road was empty. If you are watching. Then you will understand the gap. Once you understand the gap, you are in it; you have jumped into it". It is an abyss - it creates peace, it creates awareness. To be in the gap is meditation; it is transformation. Now, you don't need words ;You let it go. It is a conscious renunciation. You are aware of stillness, infinite stillness. You are part of it, you are with it. You don't feel this abyss as anything else; you feel This abyss is yourself. You know. Now you are knowing itself. You are observing, but now the observer is the observed. As far as words and thoughts are concerned, you are a witness, you are separate, words are something else. But when there is no text. You are the gap - but you are still aware that you exist.Between you and the gap, between awareness and being, there is now no barrier.Only words are barriers. Now you are in a state of being. This is meditation: being with existence, being totally in it.And the area is still aware. This is its contradiction, this is its paradox. Now, you already know that there is a state in which you are aware and the mind is still with it. Generally speaking, when we become aware of something, that thing becomes something else.If we identify with something, then it is not something else, yet in this case we are not aware - like in anger, in sex.We are only one when we are unconscious. Sex has a powerful structural appeal because during the act of sex, you temporarily become one.But at that time. You are unconscious. You seek the unconscious because you seek unity. But the more you seek it.You become more conscious. Then you don't feel the joy of sex, because that joy comes from the unconscious. You can become unconscious in moments of passion.Your consciousness stops. At that moment you are in the abyss -- but you are unconscious.Yet the more you seek it.The more you lose it.In the end, that moment of unconsciousness when you're in the middle of sex is gone. The abyss is gone, the joy is gone.So sex becomes boring. It Nazi is a mechanical release; it has no spiritual content. We only know unconscious oneness; we never know conscious oneness.Meditation is the first step of consciousness. It is the other pole of sexuality.Sex is one pole, the unity of the unconscious; meditation is the other pole.Conscious oneness.Sex is the lowest point of oneness, and meditation is the pinnacle, the highest pinnacle of oneness. The difference between them lies in the difference of consciousness. Now thousands of people in the West are thinking and meditating.Because the sexual attraction is gone.Whenever society is not repressive, meditation follows. For unbridled sex will kill the beauty and romance of the world; it will kill its spiritual side. There is a lot of sex there. But you cannot remain unconscious in it. Repressive societies can survive the world. And a non-repressive, non-restrictive society cannot maintain sex forever. It has to be surpassed. So if a society is secular, meditation will follow. In my opinion, a sexually free society is the first step towards seeking and exploring. But of course, because the exploration is there, it can be exploited. It is being exploited by the East. The East can provide gurus; they can be exported. They are being exported. But only tricks can be learned from these gurus.Understanding comes from life, from survival. It cannot be given, handed over. I can't give my understanding.I can talk about it, but I cannot give it to you.You have to find it.You have to come into life. You have to make mistakes; you have to fail; you have to go through a lot of setbacks. However, only after failures, mistakes, and setbacks.Only by facing real existence will you achieve meditation. So I call it growing up.Some things can be understood. But the understanding you get from others is never beyond the level of reason. So Knshnamurti's request is impossible. He said: Don't use reason to understand me" - but you will get nothing back from others except intellectual understanding. So Krishna Morti's efforts are absurd. What he said is true , but. It is impossible to demand more from an obedient person than is reasonable. You can't get more from others, and you can't pass on more. But , intellectual understanding can also become sufficient. If you can understand intellectually what I say, then you can also understand what I don't say. You can also understand gaps; what I don't say, what I can't say. The original Understanding must be intellectual because intellect is the door. It can never be spiritual. Because spirituality is the inner god I can only communicate to you rationally. If you can really understand it, then you can feel the unspoken words.I can't convey it without words.but.When I use words, I also use silence. You have to be aware of both.If only the words are understood, then it is a communication; but if you can also understand the gap, then it is a communion. One has to start somewhere.Every beginning is doomed to be a wrong beginning. But one has to start.By mistake, by groping, you can find the door.If one thinks that one starts only when the right start is there. Then it will never start.Even a wrong step is a step in the right direction, because it is a step after all, a beginning after all.You start groping in the dark, and by groping, you find the door. So I say to be aware of the process of language - the process of words - and then look for a wide awareness of the gap, of the interval.finally.This part of you is aware of the gap without conscious effort. That is the sanctity of the meeting, the existence of the meeting.Whenever a meeting occurs, don't run away from it.Be with it.Fear will be taken care of in the beginning; that is inevitable.Whenever we meet the unknown, there is always fear, because for us, the unknown is death. Therefore, whenever there is an interval, you will have the feeling that death is imminent. Then die!in it.Die completely in the field. Then, you will be resurrected.Through silent death, life is resurrected. For the first time in your life you are alive, really alive. So, in my opinion, meditation is not a method, but a process; meditation is not a technique, but an understanding. It cannot be taught; it can only be instructed. You cannot know it because no knowledge is real knowledge. They come from the outside, while the flow comes from deep within yourself a So search, be a seeker, but don't be a sannyasin. Then you don't become a disciple of some guru, but you become a disciple of the whole life. That way you don't just learn words.Spiritual learning cannot come from words. It comes from the perpetual gap and stillness around you.Even in crowds, in markets, in shopping malls, they are there. You have to look inside and out for that silence, that gap, and one day you will find that you are meditating. Meditation will come to you.It always comes; you cannot get it.Tan is that one has to seek it, because only when you are seeking you are open to it, you are receptive to its influence. To it, you are a master.Meditation is a guest. You can clean it up and wait for it.It came to Flood, it came to Jesus, it came to everyone who is ready, everyone who is open and seeking. But learn it not from somewhere; otherwise you will be teased. The mind goes on looking for easier things. That's the kind of rush to take advantage of.Then there are gurus and ancient circles, after which the spiritual life is poisoned. The most dangerous person is the one who exploits the spiritual desires of others. If someone plunders your wealth. That is not so serious, if someone disappoints you, it is not so serious, but if someone teases you and kills, or even delays your desire for meditation, for caste, for madness. Then his sins are serious and unforgivable. And that's what's happening. So be tolerant of it, don't be with anybody; what is meditation? What should I do? "And ask what are these obstacles, what are these hindrances. Ask why we haven't been meditating, where the growth has stopped, where we have been damaged. Don't look for the gurus, because the gurus are damaging others .Anyone who provides you with ready-made patterns is not a friend, but an enemy. To grope in the dark. You can't do anything else. The groping itself will be the realization that frees you from the darkness.Jesus said; "Truth is freedom." Understand this freedom.Truth is always attained through understanding. It is not something that you meet, touch; it is something that you become. So you seek understanding. For the more you comprehend, the closer you are to the higher truth. At some unknown, uncertain, unpredictable moment, when the realization reaches its peak, you are in that abyss. You are gone, only meditation is there. "When you are not there, you are meditating. Meditation is not doing more; it is always beyond you. When you are in the abyss, meditation is there. Then the ego is no more; then you are no more. Then That being exists. That's what religion means when it says God: the ultimate being. It's the essence of all religions, all quests, but you can't find it anywhere. So beware of anyone who makes such claims people. Keep exploring and don't be afraid of failure.Allow failure, but don't make the same failure again. Once is enough; enough. Those who keep making mistakes in their search for truth will always be forgiven. This is a promise from the depths of being.
