How to practice Buddhism 南怀瑾 8964Words 2018-03-20
content summary. Trapped in the sensory realm. become a habitual thought. Let's talk about sex. The heart does not correspond to the law. Talk about knowing Yin. Integrate delusion and reverse delusion. Explanation of the five yin elements of the mind. The first three seconds of meditation. This time, we will talk about how to obtain the fruit position, which includes Hinayana and Mahayana. The view is the most important. The so-called true view is not the view commonly mentioned, but seeing the "truth of the Tao", also known as the "truth".If you really see the truth of the Tao, you will be successful in the subsequent practice and vows. This is the epiphany advocated by Zen Buddhism, not academic, let alone ordinary insights.

Because we have no way to see the way, we have a lot of cultivation, which is the method of gradual cultivation. For example, after Buddha Shakyamuni practiced for twelve years, he finally saw a star and became enlightened. This is also "seeing".The method of seeing is the most important, that is, the principle of prajna and consciousness only.Seeing is reason, and this "reason" includes all things and all cultivation skills. The Heart Sutra was quoted last time: "Form is emptiness, emptiness is form, form is not different from emptiness, emptiness is not different from form." This truth also includes the practice of attainment. The last time I talked about doing kung fu to match the view, now let’s study, "Feeling is emptiness, emptiness is feeling, feeling is not different from emptiness, and emptiness is not different from feeling." Feeling is the aspect of feeling, our physical and psychological feelings.

Many people do kung fu, and to be honest, most of them, whether they study Taoism, esoteric Buddhism, or superficial teachings, are spinning around in the realm of receiving yin, and all people are trapped by this. Therefore, people who are obsessed with doing kung fu become more and more arrogant. Because kung fu is accumulated, a little bit of kung fu does feel different. The more special kung fu is, the greater the arrogance will naturally be.Kung fu is not achieved by accident, but formed by the accumulation of time, so it is "earned", not unearned. The essence of Buddhism is the law of non-action. If everyone becomes interested in gaining something and seeking the fruit of nothing, the result is of course the opposite.

It can be understood from this that ordinary people learn Buddhism and Taoism with skills and insight, and that insight is also spinning around in the yin.Especially when doing virtuous Dharma, what kind of qi channel, what state, because I don’t have enough insight, and I haven’t achieved prajna, I’m all obsessed with this scope. In other words, the so-called meditation and kung fu are all running with the body's feeling.Think: Oh!I was so angry that my back could not pass through the spine! What chakras can't pass! The more I read these Taoist books, the more I understand the truth, and the more difficult my kung fu is. Emptiness, emptiness is not a different feeling." Therefore, when the body is a little breathy, the heart moves with it, because the prajna is blocked, the feeling is getting more and more serious, and there will never be relief. Even after death, when the breath doesn't come, the bardo body is still trapped. In another realm of feeling.

Is there a reason for Qimai?Absolutely, it’s natural, it’s nothing special, the more you feel it, the bigger the obstacle, so once you don’t do kung fu, you won’t be able to bear it.For example, it is a common problem for ordinary people to meditate nowadays. When they meditate, they all want to be more pure. This feeling of cleanliness gradually became a habit. In fact, my state of consciousness feels clean, and that cleanliness is only the psychological feeling of the state of consciousness. Coupled with the feeling of boredom in my body, I certainly feel much more comfortable when I meditate, because meditating is also a rest! After I feel comfortable, I slowly get bored again. When I feel bored, I feel "kung fu is looking for me", and I quickly close my eyes and feel bored there.I think this is kung fu, I think this is Tao, but in fact these are all in the yin area, the state of feeling.People who have been here for a long time have a dull mind, although they are a little better than Wuji and Wunian, but they are always in a daze, dizzy, and have no prajna at all.

Assuming that in this situation, through the liberation of prajna wisdom, you know that "feeling is emptiness, emptiness is feeling, feeling is not different from emptiness, emptiness is not different from feeling", and only then can we talk about liberation and transcendence if we throw away this feeling state. .But ordinary people cannot surpass in their current realm. The state of feeling is haunting, so deep. Last time we talked about thinking, our thinking is conscious thinking. If it is to be strictly studied, the problem is very big.In Buddhism, thinking and thinking are separated, the rough one is called thinking, and the brain waves beat fast.As for thinking, it seems that there is no thinking, but there is still a little thought function, which is very subtle.

Another example is when someone speaks, we are listening, and at the same time distinguish whether it is right or wrong; or how much we understand, these are the functions of thinking.Si does not have this delusional thought. A Zen master once made an analogy, which means that you owe someone money, and you have to pay it back tomorrow, but you don’t have the money to pay it back. Even if you meditate here today, listen to Buddhism, or study something, you can’t get rid of this matter. This is The role of thinking, a force is always hanging there. "Thinking" is actually "thinking", one is thick and the other is thin, which is the discrimination in the realm of consciousness. All sentient beings before our attainment of enlightenment were born with different thoughts.A baby does not have the discriminating mind of the sixth consciousness, but it cannot be said that he does not have thoughts. Thoughts are not discriminating minds, and there are still "dizzy signs".As the age grows, the differences gradually increase, so children's thoughts are relatively innocent and pure.People are very pitiful. The older they get, the less lovable they become, and the older they become, the more disgusting they become. Because the sixth consciousness is strengthened, pollution gradually increases, and the increase is very strong. Life habits, right and wrong, good and evil, etc., eventually feel that they are right.

What slowly forms and becomes a habit is thinking.Thought becomes karma, becomes a seed, which is carried to the next life. Therefore, many innate habits of consciousness are the habits brought by previous lives, which make everyone have different personalities. Some people like to laugh, and some like to get angry, all brought about by previous lives. Therefore, let us let go of all predestined relationships, everything is empty, but can thinking be empty?Assuming that this is not empty, and thinking that the state of pure consciousness is empty, then you are deceiving yourself, and you will not be able to resist the matter. In the end, when oxygen is used, your kung fu and Dharma will be useless at all, so don't make a mistake. However, many people who work hard are turning around on this. This is because the wisdom of prajna is not enough, the wisdom of seeing and understanding is not clear, and the fulfillment of vows is not enough. If the true root of goodness has not been initiated, Prajna will not come.So the Diamond Sutra only talks about two things: one talks about prajna, and the other talks about merit. Why?Great wisdom comes from the achievement of great merit and virtue. You only seek wisdom in meditation. The Mahayana method does not talk about this. The Mahayana method talks about the six perfections, which are generosity, precepts, patience, diligence, and meditation. Prajna comes after the five.

When ordinary people use kung fu, the biggest confusion is that delusions cannot be broken.Who told you to stop delusions?Delusion is inherently very, very indestructible, "with a knife cut off the water, the water will flow more, and meditation will relieve worry and worry, so some people's brows become more and more wrinkled when they meditate. It's nothing but delusions!Don't want you to break it, "Thinking is emptiness, emptiness is thinking, thinking is not different from emptiness, and emptiness is not different from thinking." Besides, we have all studied Consciousness-only, and Consciousness-only has a name called "Five-Kind Actions"--attention, touch, feeling, thinking, and thinking. There are these functions in the eight consciousnesses, so it will naturally play these functions.

In other words, the instinct of our life is divided into two parts, one is the state of feeling and the other is the state of perception. Feeling states are half physical and half mental. The same is true with states of mind, primarily psychological and incidentally physical.Consciousness-only tells us that this is the "five kamikasas", that is to say, it is universal in the function of the eight consciousnesses. How can it be broken? So there is no need to try hard to stop thinking. The Sixth Patriarch also told us: "Huineng has no tricks, he keeps thinking a lot. Counting on the mind, Bodhi is so long." It's empty! Why break it!You who know that you are thinking, aren’t you still there? As a result, everyone was on the contrary. When they meditated, their originally pure things suppressed their thoughts at any time, and they used kung fu indiscriminately, even if they sat for ten thousand years, there was no effect.

Going one step further, after turning the five kasinas, one will immediately become a Buddha. This must be achieved through the wisdom of prajna. Therefore, Consciousness-only did not tell us that we will become a Buddha if we cut off our delusions, but we must turn our consciousness into wisdom. As long as we turn around in that way, we will be successful. It depends on whether you can turn around or not. This "transition" is very well used. The reason why we ordinary people cannot become Buddhas is that our mentality cannot be transformed, and it is karma that holds us firmly. When consciousness is transferred, wisdom becomes, and wisdom becomes liberation. So it is very simple for everyone to meditate, "emptiness is thinking, thinking is empty, thinking is not empty, empty is not different." But the next one is difficult, Yin Yin -- a force that promotes birth and death, and it can't be broken even if you want to.Why? This Yin movement is the same as the movement of the universe, it is always moving. We can borrow what the Diamond Sutra says: "There is nowhere to come from, and there is nowhere to go." When it comes, it comes without knowing the source, and when it goes, it runs away without knowing where it is going.Past, present, future, forever. This is the source of yin and movement, moving all the way, the most difficult. Before Xingyin stops, before attaining static state, there will never be a way to cut off the previous form, feeling, and thought, and it will always come. The psychological part, too, is always in flux. When we meditate, why do we feel that we cannot be empty?Because there is no emptiness in the yin. In principle, if you can achieve "formation is emptiness, emptiness is form, form is not different from emptiness, emptiness is not different from form", then the practice is successful. But our first sentence, "line is empty", has it been done? "Walking is not different from emptiness", that is, walking and emptiness are the same, has it been achieved?Once sitting up, the delusional thoughts are pure, and there is no emptiness in doing Yin like this. In other words, the void also has yin, so the universe is always rotating, and the rotation is its yin. As an ordinary person, whether we can stop the Yin movement is related to the enlightenment. This depends on the four meditations and eight samadhis, so that the breath stops and the pulse stops. When the qi is stopped, not only the breathing stops, but also all the breath of life in the body is in a state of cessation. At this time, the yin movement that drives the circulation of the body and mind is considered to have stopped. The yin is non-stop, so the physical part will not stop functioning, and the psychological part will not stop functioning either. So how can we return to the source and return to our original nature? There is the fastest way - the liberation of wisdom, prajna, and enlightenment.Generally, those who cannot achieve epiphany have to practice gradually, step by step. Therefore, in the Shurangama Sutra, the Buddha clearly told us the procedure for the liberation of the five skandhas, and we should pay special attention to it. The reason why we can’t really achieve success is that we can’t get rid of the yin of walking, the yin of thinking, and the yin of receiving and color. If there is a little bit of a pure state, it is only an imaginary state, an imaginary state of the sixth consciousness, and has not attained a vacuum. If you want to realize the vacuum, the excerpted lecture notes of the Shurangama Sutra tell us that all Zen, Tiantai, Tantra, and Pure Land, if you want to achieve success in cultivation, you must not deviate from this principle. Going a step further, after the liberation of the yin, we can talk about the liberation of the yin. This consciousness is not only the sixth consciousness, but also includes the eight consciousnesses mentioned in the only consciousness, which is the "mind consciousness" mentioned in the Lenga Sutra. The mental state we know is just a disguised form of consciousness, so explaining this consciousness with spirit is an upside-down explanation.Strictly speaking, it represents all the body, form, and function of the eight consciousnesses; it also represents all the functions of the spiritual world and the physical world. We should study the theory of Baifa Mingmen, which separates the material dharma from the mental dharma, and there is also a "twenty-four kinds of behaviors that do not correspond to the heart".But pay attention, if you really separate the opposites of material dharma and mental dharma, then you don't want to learn Buddhism. In other words, the devil is against God, and God can never do anything against the devil. In fact, it is just a way of expressing it. It is analyzed separately, which is easy for us to understand. In fact, materiality and mentality are one. Talking about the heart not corresponding to the practice of the law, it means that there are twenty-four kinds of things in the universe, which are not controlled by the sixth consciousness, and the human mind has no way to control them. For example, first, you cannot control the time of the universe. You said you fell asleep, you can free up the time, sorry, that time is still passing, you can't change it.Second, potential. For example, how powerful is the flow of water, even if you say that I am the only one in the sky and the world, and you stand in the torrent, you will still be washed away by the water. Therefore, when Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva came, Guanshiyin Bodhisattva had no choice but to stand aside. These two Bodhisattvas represent the Dharma (here we use the Dharma). When the great trend comes, please ask Guanshiyin Bodhisattva to lead the way. When this trend comes, no one can control it. So no matter how good your kung fu is, you will still be old when you are old. The four major changes have gone, and the time is up when the time is up. For example, when we sit in meditation for half an hour or an hour, we can’t sit any longer, our legs feel numb, and we still can’t sit if we want to.Because the momentum of Yin has arrived. You said, I still have to settle down, but if my mind doesn’t respond to the Dharma, my mind still can’t be changed, even this point can’t be changed. How can you talk about turning consciousness into wisdom, turning karma, and even turning afflictions into Bodhi? In this kind of place, we have to be vigilant. The usual principles are very good, but when things come, we can't get through. You said that I am still practicing Taoism and meditating, and when I talk about the Dharma, it is clear and logical, but why do I have a dark road ahead and a dark road when I want to live and die in meditation? So, this principle must be understood first. "Consciousness" is the most difficult to understand, so it is mentioned in the Shurangama Sutra that the fifth level of liberation is the consciousness yin. A classmate asked a question after studying the Shurangama Sutra: Why is thinking of yin called a delusion of integration, and knowing yin is called a delusion of inversion?Thinking about yin should be called upside-down delusion, and knowing yin should be called intermediary delusion! There are ten kinds of demonic realms produced in the realm of imaginary yin, but in fact there are more than ten kinds, and there are hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of variations. For example, some people have supernatural powers, foresight or foresight, all of which are the effects of thoughts in the five aggregates. This kind of function is now called the sixth sense, telepathy, supernatural power, etc. There are so many tricks! These are all delusions of thinking and delusion, which are delusions of integration.Changing the function of delusions, it seems to be able to understand and know all things, so it is described as "intermediate delusion". Why is the realm of yin consciousness called upside-down delusion?Because it is not called a demon realm, but a heretic, including the sound-hearers and pre-conditions.People who have obtained the four fruits of arhat are still called heretics, why?Because the view is not to the end, it is called "upside down delusion". These five Yins are all called delusions, so we know that Zen practitioners get rid of delusions as soon as they sit in the seat, thinking that they have gone to the sixth consciousness, but in fact, it is just a little oil on the superficial surface of the sixth consciousness. The real delusion is from the ground to the surface. Therefore, in order to get rid of delusions, we must get rid of the delusions of the five Yins, so that we can talk about emptiness.Don't think: Oh!I meditated all the time and it was very comfortable. That is the imaginary realm of the sixth consciousness. The emptiness we see with our two pairs of eyes is only a little bit bigger, so when we sit up in meditation and close our eyes, the emptiness we imagine is only a little bit bigger. The scope of human thinking often only follows the scope of the vitality. So you see, how playful our thinking is, in the state of confusion, right and wrong, good and evil are all reversed, and the scope of our understanding is so narrow. But in this consciousness, I feel very sublime!Very great! It's all about deceiving yourself, not the real emptiness. These are all aspects of view. Special attention should be paid to the view of the liberation of the five skandhas. No matter what you have gained or you are just getting started, remember not to go on the wrong path. The second question is, in form, feeling, thought, and consciousness, the most important thing in our life is thought, thought yin, also called delusion. This thought is changed by consciousness, and consciousness is the heart, that is, the heart consciousness mentioned by the yogis, not the heart of the body. The second is yin. People are born with feelings, and feelings come from yin. If the form is classified as a physical part, thinking and feeling should be a spiritual part.Including the physical and spiritual parts are Yin Yin and Yin Yin. After hearing this, we should not think outside, but turn around and look within ourselves.Try to find it by category. The real Buddhism does not tell us not to think. "Zen Ding", the teachings are called right thinking, and later Zen is called research. "Zen Ding" does not mean that you follow your body. The qi pulse is moving, so you don’t need to pay attention to the yin movement, you have to look for it in the right thinking. Before the Han Dynasty, Chinese Taoists called it "Jingsi".When you meditate, you are all confused by the realm of physical sensations. If you have not really entered into the right thinking, then it is not true meditation. The focus of Buddhism is view. There was a theme in the discussion just now - using the outline of the Maha Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra, "the five aggregates are all empty", combined with the liberation of the five aggregates in the Shurangama Sutra, is the focus of this course. This is the point of view. Only when you understand this principle can you practice kung fu, and then you can really talk about practice. Otherwise, kung fu will be considered as good as it is, and it will be useless if it cannot withstand the task.Even if the kung fu is done so that the body can emit light and move the ground, it is useless, otherwise it is not called Buddhism. Therefore, every Buddhist scripture cannot find the content of kung fu. The Buddhist scriptures only talk about the principle of seeing the ground, because when the real view is reached, the kung fu must be achieved. In other words, if your insight has been improved, but the effort has not been reached, that insight is not a real insight. For example, a person holds a precious cup inlaid with jewels, and suddenly it breaks. The liberated person does not even look at it, knowing that it is broken; the unliberated person looks at the broken cup and cries and screams there. He knew it was broken, but he was still crying and screaming while holding the broken cup.Knowing about emptiness, but still clinging to that useless thing to lament this emptiness, is it useful? Don't look at it as a trivial matter, for the same reason, understanding is the way. Therefore, once the Zen master enlightened to a small point, the whole thing became clear, that's how it is. Don't think that this is a gossip. The ancient Zen masters laughed and scolded. If you take it as a joke, it is a waste of his words. He points at you everywhere, because sometimes it's not easy to scold you directly, and he just jokes with you humorously. You say east, he says west, in fact he is hitting you, hitting you is to protect you. For example, I sent a lecture notice to everyone for the first time, telling everyone that there are no exceptions, don’t be sloppy, and only register for classes if you really follow the rules.Everyone has registered, but how many people really do it?Whether it's writing notes, or any other item, no one really does it.This is the door of "walking". The man has promised, and he will do what he says. Since he is going to attend the class, he should abide by these rules, right?Who can do it?Why do you want to do this?Do you understand? It is deliberately beating people around with sticks. If you wake up, you will benefit yourself; if you can’t wake up, forget it. That's it.I will only talk about the note part, and there are many other parts, so I won't discuss it.This is all about the relationship between mind and behavior. The so-called "one law is not abandoned in the gate of ten thousand elements", how can we talk about the practice of this Buddhist law!No matter how good your personal relationship is, you can't talk about the real profession, and you have to scold people if you talk about it, so you can only say in your heart: Alas! "The Tathagata speaks of those who are most merciful." The practice and the view are inseparable. When the view reaches a step, your mind must change.Great virtuous teachers, great Zen masters, you can tell at a glance whether a person has made progress or not.Don't think that the complexion is getting better and the qi channel is unblocked, it's just for teasing you. When the energy channels are cleared, it is irrelevant. People of great wisdom are not deceived by this trick. It means that many Zen masters, when the teacher rewards them, cover their ears, they don’t even listen, and they still receive this compliment!of course not!Enlightenment is the same as not enlightenment. The most harmful thing in the world is a high hat. It is not illegal to cheat a dead person, and if you cheat him to death, he will thank you.No one will listen to the truth, so there is no way. The person who sees the ground, his mental behavior will immediately turn, and he can count it, and he will immediately turn it. A good teacher will know that his mental behavior has changed after looking at it. Behavior includes many things. For example, being lazy is not right.Another example is that the first point of Buddhism talks about compassion, think about it for yourself, which aspect of compassion has been achieved? We have achieved one thing - asking others to be merciful to ourselves. What is "to save sentient beings"!Which did it?Save yourself! There is no way to save the people who are closest to me, how can I save sentient beings? How many sins are hidden under these beautiful names, we must reflect on them at any time. The more beautiful the words are, the more you cover up your own faults. If you don’t study Buddhism to this extent, you can forget about it!No one does this, it can't be done, and it's all done in the form of calculating business transactions, especially in this era. The above part of the insight, probably so.In a word, insight is very important, and it cannot be finished in a few words. The Avatamsaka Sutra should be read by Elder Li, and all the classics should be read carefully. There are many people who study Buddhism without studying classics. According to the Buddhist system of the Tang Dynasty, monks had to take an exam, and a diploma (degree certificate) was issued only after mastering one scripture. Nowadays, many people study Buddhism. To be honest, according to the strict standard of Buddhism, they are not studying Buddhism. This problem is very serious.I just dare not speak, what is the use of speaking?Everyone said: Teacher, you should speak.Buddhism is not mine alone, why should I?He also said: Teacher, you are responsible. In fact, everyone is responsible. These mental actions are wrong when you open your mouth or speak. If the mind is right, why not arouse it? I am ashamed, I have to work hard, I want to save sentient beings, I have to work hard, I have to practice, and I will save people after I have completed my cultivation. Why do we refuse to practice? So learning Buddhism is very difficult. In terms of insight, you have to study the scriptures by yourself. Now turn to the repair certificate.Let's talk about attainment from the point of view, and attainment is just a matter of waiting, not worth mentioning. But it is not easy to talk about the cultivation of the certificate.Cultivating certification is doing kung fu, regardless of sect, regardless of method, whether it is chanting Buddha, practicing Zen, practicing qi, no matter what kind of kung fu is done, it is all a method of practicing certification. There is only one main principle in the method of practicing realization, which is to cultivate "shamatha and vipassanā". In terms of cause, it is called Zhiguan, and in terms of fruit, it is called Dinghui.Stopping is samadhi, and viewing is wisdom. In other words, stopping is kung fu, and viewing is seeing, so you must practice stopping and watching. No matter which sect or sect we learn, we must not separate sects when we start to learn meditation.Different sects and sects only have different methods, or the emphasis of the methods is different. You can choose a method to cultivate yourself. Of course, it is best to have the guidance of a virtuous teacher. You can see which method is more suitable for you, and use his guidance to choose a method.A person who has achieved it can naturally understand any method. Don't think of cross-legged meditation as meditation. There is no limit to the posture of meditation. Sitting, standing, sleeping, walking, and eating can all be fixed, no matter where and when. But we can't do it initially, so we have to meditate. There are dozens of postures in meditation, but the one that is most beneficial to physiology and psychology is to meditate with legs crossed. The role of cross-legged is very great. If you write articles on this aspect, you can make a lot of money. However, I have a principle. After writing an article, if it is not beneficial to the world, I will swear to the death. This is my practice. When we meditate with our legs crossed, the qi mechanism is really unblocked, which is more than just physical and mental happiness! The inconceivable functions of our acquired body have all been released. For example, when the Qi meridians of the elderly are fully opened, they will be the same as babies. However, is there anyone who has unblocked Qi channels in both legs? No, at least I haven't seen one. Some students noticed the two-legged statue mentioned in the Buddhist scriptures. This is not just a theory, it is very correct.Theoretically, the two-legged deity is the Supreme Being of the perfection of merit and perfection of wisdom. Both merit and wisdom are complete, so it is called two-legged respect. In fact, in the five links, there is the magical foot link, which is full of air and energy until the two feet. The root of a person is in the head, the void is the soil, and the limbs are the branches. Once the branches shrink, the "rootless tree" is finished, so there are many reasons to cross one's legs. Put your legs together, and those who really find the way, use a very thorough method, understand the principles, and practice soon on the road. In the past, when Shakyamuni Buddha was around, disciples could prove Arhat fruit in seven or five days. It is not fake.why? The material desires of the ancients were underdeveloped, and their thoughts and moods were very simple, so it was easy to achieve fruition; the more knowledgeable the modern people are, the harder it is to get them, and the less successful they are, because they are too complicated. The ancients always heard what they said and followed suit. There are often four words in Buddhist scriptures: "Practice and practice".At the end of every classic, there are almost these four words. This is not a routine, but true. From the beginning of "Thus I hear", to the end of "Action, Acceptance and Practice", any Buddhist scriptures have these eight words, if you really do it, you will be successful. As soon as the ancients believed in it, they believed it to the end. They believed in the teacher and the Buddha. Once they believed in it, they felt it immediately. Modern people are not like that, if you teach him the treasure, he will face you and say: yes, yes!thank you very much.I thought in my heart: Should I be fooled?I wonder if the teacher has reached that level? Then go back and find two or three people to study that teacher. The mentality of modern people is so different from that of the ancients, I can clearly see it in decades. Therefore, the ancients could succeed in a few days, but the modern people cannot succeed, because their own morality blocks them. However, the life functions of ancient people and modern people are the same. Although we talk about views and actions, we dare not talk about actions in detail. If you talk about actions in detail, you can refute anyone to the ground. If you can achieve "As I hear it, believe it, accept it and practice it", it will be successful, but no one can do it. So what should we do when we meditate? As long as you "believe, receive, worship, and act", believe in yourself and what the Buddha said, the self-nature is inherently empty. Therefore, it is reasonable for the Fourth and Fifth Patriarchs of Zen to advocate the Diamond Sutra. You just know about emptiness! But it’s not for us to empty it, it’s empty in the first place—we cross our legs and get on the seat, it’s already empty, don’t ask for another empty space, it’s a shortcut. The first step is to cross your legs, neither seeking emptiness nor existence, and close your eyes.People in this era use their eyes and ears too much. When they close their eyes, they don’t care to see or not to see. Remember: this is empty! At this time, I closed my eyes and felt pretty good, but for a split second, I felt that I was thinking too much and it was so annoying.Don't hate it! If you don’t have thoughts, you’re not called a human anymore, so just ignore the thoughts. At this time, don’t we know that this thought comes and goes? The one of you who knows the coming and going of thoughts, is not disturbed by thoughts, is pure, and is not deceived by thoughts and afflictions, what more can you ask for?The Buddha is awakened, you already know that you have thoughts, isn’t this awakened? It is said in the Shurangama Sutra that our thoughts and afflictions are "guest afflictions", coming and going like passing guests. You, the host, know that the guests come and go, but the host does not entertain them hospitablely. Welcome; when the guest leaves, don't send it off.He comes when he likes, leaves when he likes, let it be natural, the mind will gradually get tired, too lazy to move, you, the master, don’t sleep, watch it, if you fall asleep, the guests will be there Inside was turned upside down. This is the second. The legs are clean in the first second, and the thoughts come in the second second. Now tell us, look at them with righteous awareness. In the third second, annoyances come. Originally, you were watching them, but later your thoughts came to make trouble for you, where "cutting constantly, and the arrangement is still chaotic", but if you don't cut it, don't take care of it, it will naturally fade away. .The annoyance in the third second is that the feeling is coming, swollen there, pain here, soreness, numbness, itching, cold and heat will happen, as long as we are quiet, these phenomena will come. When you meditate, you have these phenomena, which is the initial movement of the Qi channels. In other words, when you calm down, no matter whether good or bad feelings appear, it is because the mind is relatively quiet and the reaction of the Qi mechanism comes. The feeling of the third step has come, what should I do?It's still the first reason, as long as you keep an eye on it, this place will endure. When I was young, I started to meditate, and I couldn’t stand it with my legs crossed. Teacher Yuan told me: Be patient, endure more, suffer more crimes, and eliminate more karma.Since I can eliminate karma, I will endure it.After sitting down, crossing one's legs would be unbearable, but because of being competitive and afraid of embarrassment, I endured it hard.Later, in order to subdue these two legs, I lived in a temple and practiced my legs alone in the pavilion of the scriptures. That's a pain!If you can't even subdue this leg, how can you subdue your heart?A few days later, my body was bent down in pain, but suddenly, with a sound of Kata, my legs went limp, and my legs were flattened, and I didn't want to sit down anymore.Very comfortable. My monk friend thought from below that the man in the attic hadn't heard him beating the chime all day to send someone to deliver food, so there shouldn't be a problem, right?I just yelled from below, because I felt so comfortable, I didn’t want to answer at all, but the monk was frightened by this, so he hurriedly asked someone to climb up, and saw that I was sitting there well, but I didn’t answer, so I was meditating.
