Beauty is the smile on a big face.So eyes are needed in order to see it; emotions are needed in order to feel it. 在某时代和某社会阶段,体制弊端多多,腐败现象严重,贫富差距天上地下,社会财富的配置极不公正,一类知识分子看在眼里,心中明白,了解得特别清楚,于是发出批评乃至批判的声音,那是多么正当又正常的呢?倒是缄默显得很不正常了。Is it not?有责任感的知识分子本身并不可笑。倒是诱导知识分子改变这一角色的言论,无论多么的时髦,本质上是动机可疑的,有时甚至意味着是一种乔装了的反动。知识分子(当然指你所说的那一类)不需要那一种言论的诱导。 知识分子无非这么几类:一类由于长期的职业特点,几乎与世隔绝,埋头致力于专业,对社会丑恶现象知之甚少,也根本不想多知道;一类其实知道的并不少,亲历亲见的也很多,但吸取经验教训,明哲保身,避而不谈,保持大智若愚的沉默;一类看到了,知道了,相当清楚地了解了,于是就要说。别人认为自说,自己也还是要说,非说不可。有时甚至会拍案面起,大声发出呵斥…… 这三类知识分子,所以这样,所以那样,乃是由于不同的成长背景、不同的个人经历,甚至不同的性情所决定的,都有各自的理由,那就随各自的意愿去做为好。 “文如其人”——此话于散文,更有普遍性。于小说,可能恰恰反过来。小说描摩外部世界,散文则如心泉流淌。想丝毫也不汇人其人的本色,须高超的文的技巧。我绘自己定的原则是——文章不妨泼辣,不妨激烈,不妨棱角鲜明,这汲什么不可,也不算大的毛病。但为人则须温良敦厚,宽忍谦和一些,这也不是“人格分裂”。即或是,这种“分裂”于人于已于社会,也不构成危害。但若反过来“分裂”,那就太可怕了…… 一个自私、倔狭,特别嫉妒、虚伪面又心理阴险之人,他理智地活着,对别人是很可怕的事。他率性地活着,对别人也是危害极大的事。 第一,眼前的生活,尤其我们中国人眼前的生活,在我看来并不怎么诗意化。第二,真和美,可作判别自然物及一切人的身外之物的标准。但二者之间加进了一个“善”字,则就主要是评说人心的标准了。依我看来,人心中缺少“善”,则人言行必虚妄,则美人,也不美矣,对人类的心史而言,无善便无美。人类诸美德,皆是“善”这株万年大树上的果子。第三,生活对人的教训也往往非是你说的那样。往往好东西并不平均分配,往往坏东西太相对地集中在某些不幸的人身上了。比如贫穷则失学,则健康没有保障,则不能成为知识者,则就业机遇少,则承担不起意外灾祸……所以人类一直在干预生活,使人类的社会变得对更其广大的人都有幸福可盲…… 美女有能力使自己的心灵也美。但一个心灵很美好的人,却无法使自己的外表也变得漂亮。有句歌词唱的好:“虽然我不美,但是我很温柔”。古人也有句话说的好——“桃花面,蛇蝎心”。外表和内心,都统一于美,固然好。不能统一,心灵自觉向美的方面完善,也好。 生命的含义,对绝大多数人而言,本就包含着责任。对父母,对儿女,对友情,对爱情,对工作……林林总总的责任使生命充实,有本能的活力。完全没有责任内容的人还算生命吗?凭什么别人对你尽了责任,而你幻想逃避一切责任。我不认为责任是生命的苦役。但生命有时是相当脆弱的,一己的能力也往往是徽不足道的。种种的责任集于一身,心有余而力不足,那样的生命就太可悲了。 我怀疑现存的有关人类起源的教科书内容。 我确信人类的最终归宿是地球毁灭。 我认为科学在造福我们人类现时利益的同时,肯定也在加剧着地球的严重祸患。 很久以来,我总有一个疑问——我们人类在物质生活的水平和质量方面,要求是否越来越病态,越来越背离人性,越来越走向着反面了呢? ... 外国科学家做过这样的实验——将蚂蚁放人杯中,哪一只往外爬,以烟头烫哪一只。三百次以后,皆不复爬也。而有的蚂蚁,其实并不曾往外爬过,故也不曾被烫。但别的蚂蚁的体伤似乎使它们明白——选择某一方向是不可取的,不明智的。外国科学家们断言——它们的下一代,也将不同程度地接受这种变聪明了的遗传。这在动物学界叫作本能退化。人是何等聪明的动物!人不需要三百次之多的教训。再愚矗的人都不需要这么多次的教训才能总结经验,人只需要几次教训就足够了。 中国当代知识分子中的思想者,依然缺乏针对当代进行思想的勇气。或者,准确地说,依然在采取这样的方式迂回曲折地表达思想——即求助于对历史的澄清、分析、反思、再认识,间接地、缩头藏尾地体现对当代的思想认识。这使当代的思想者们的思想、技巧性远远高于实际上的思想价值。有时甚至将普遍的人们早巳达到了的思想认识,反复地靠技巧包装了不厌其烦地诉诸于世。故往往将思想淹没于技巧了。 我认为,在一切民主国家中,不再能产生所谓政治思想家了。民主使人类的全部政治思想画上了休止符。在目前还没有实行民主的国家中,也不再能产生什么政治思想家了。因为如果他拒绝之,他岂配妄称思想家?若表示接受,那么又将发现,许许多多的人比他更欢迎之。故他们能做的,仅仅是在没有民主的地方传播民主罢了。 民主不但结晶了人类几乎一切的政治思想成果,也解决了人类大部分的人文思想之探究。所剩的思想空间已相当有限。这也是近当代全世界都难以产生思想家的原因。科技依然在迅速发展,人类的思想却似乎处于半休眠状态。这并不意味着人类思想的萎缩,更不意味着傲情。恰铬相反,而意味着一种难以再超越的成熟。 人类在教育制度方面,似乎目前还没想出比考试更公平的方式。考试的制度,显然有其自身存在的弊端,但恐怕我们不得不承认,它乃弊端最少的方式。 中国乃世界上人口最多的国家。中国历年的初中生高中生,因而也是世界上最多的。但中国却并不相应地是世界上大学最多的国家。这是一个残酷的前提。此前提决定了,每百名中国儿女中,仅二三名高中生最终能进人大学校门。主要不是他们和她们的智力问题,而是现有的大学最多只能吸纳百分之二三。 中国目前出高考题之首要的、最终的目的,捅破窗纸说亮话——乃为大面积地、有效地杀伤百分之九十七八的中国儿女升学的可能性。排除许多省份的穷困地区教育质量确实普遍低下的因素,高考题所要杀伤的人数,估计仍在百分之七八十以上。杀伤率每年不能低于这个比例。倘低于这个比例,则必出现有许多学生的考分虽过了高考分数线,但全国各大学人满为患的局面。
