在城市里，对于许多相爱的青年男女而言，“室内”的价格，无论租或买，都是极其昂贵的。求“室内”而不可得，求“室外”而必远足，于是情爱颇似城市里的“盲流”。 人类的情爱不再动人了，还是由于情爱被“后工业”的现代性彻底地与劳动“离间”了。 几乎只有在农业的劳动中，男人女人之间还传达出某种动人的爱意。那爱意的确是美的。又寻常又美。 我在城市里一直企图发现男人女人之间那种又寻常又美的爱意的流露，却至今没发现过。 在中国，在当代，爱情或曰情爱之所以不动人了，也还因为我们常说的那种“缘”，也就是那种似乎在冥冥中引导两颗心彼此找寻的宿命般的因果消弭了。于是爱情不但变得简单、容易，而且变成了内容最浅薄、最无意昧儿可言的事情。有时浅薄得连“轻佻”的评价都够不上了。“轻佻”纵使不足取，毕竟还多少有点儿意味儿啊！ 本质上相类同的“缘”，在中国比比皆是地涌现着。比随地乱扔的糖纸冰棒签子和四处乱弹的烟头多得多。可谓之曰“缘”的“泡沫”现象。 而我所言情爱之“缘”乃是那么一种男人和女人的命数的“规定”——一旦圆合了，不但从此了却男女于情于爱两个宇的种种调根和怨叹，而且意识到似乎有天意在成全着，于是满足得肃然，幸福得感激；即或末成眷属，也终生终世回忆着，永难忘怀，于是其情其爱刻骨铭心，上升为直至地老天荒的情愫的拥有，几十年如一日深深感动着你自己。美得哀婉。 这一种“缘”，不仅在中国，在全世界的当代，是差不多绝灭了。 情爱之于现代人，越来越变得接近于生意。而生意是这世界上每天每时每刻每处都在忙忙碌碌地做着的。更像股票，像期货，像债券，像地摊儿交易，像拍卖行的拍卖，投机性，买卖性，速成性越来越公开，越来越普遍，越来越司空见惯。而且，似乎也越来越等于情爱本身了。于是情爱中那一种动人的、感人的、美的、仿佛天意般的“缘”，也越来越被不少男人的心女人的心理解为和捡钱搭子、小头彩、一锨挖到了金脉同一种造化的事情了。 现代人的爱情或曰情爱中，早已缺了这分量，故早已端的是“爱情不能承受之轻”了。或反过来说“爱情不能承受之重”。其爱其情掺人了太多太多的即兑功利，当然也沉甸甸起来了。 依顺了现代的现实性，爱情或曰情爱的“缘”的美和“义”的美，也就只有在古典中安慰现代人叶公好龙的憧憬了。 故自人类进入二十世纪以来，从全世界的范围看，除了为爱而弃王冠的温莎公爵一例，无论戏剧中影视文学中，关于爱情的真正感人至深的作品风毛麟角。 爱这个字，在语言中，有时处于谓语的位置。有时处于主语的位置。前面加“做”、加“求”、加“示”、加“乞”，“爱”就处在谓语的位置。“做爱”、“求爱”、“示爱”、“乞爱”，皆行为动词也。 “做爱”乃天伦之乐。乃上帝赐与一切男女的最普遍的权力。是男人和女人最赤裸裸的行为。那一时刻，尊卑贵贱，无有区分。行为本质，无有差别。很难说权大无限的国王，与他倾国倾城的王后，或总统与总统夫人的那一时刻，一定比一个年轻的强壮的农民，与他的年轻的健康的爱妻在他们的破屋土炕上发生的那一时刻更快活些。也许是一样的。也许恰恰反过来。 “求爱”乃是一种手段，其目的为了婚姻，有时为了一次或几次“做爱”的许可。传统上是为了婚姻。在反传统的男女们那儿，往往是为了做爱的许可。当然，那许可证，一般是由男人所求，是由女人“签发”的。无论为了婚姻之目的，还是为了一次或几次“做爱”之目的，这个过程都是必不可少的。省略了，婚姻就是另外性质的事了。 比如可能被法律判定为抢婚。“做爱”也可能是另外性质的事了。比如可能被法律判定为强好。 对于成年男女，“示爱”已带有经验性，已无多少美感可言，只不过是相互的试探罢了。以含蓄为得体，以不失分寸为原则。含蓄也体现着一种自重，只有极少数的男人会对不自重的女人抱有好感。不失分寸才不使对方讨厌。反过来，男人对女人也一样。不管不顾，不达目的不罢休，一味儿的大献殷勤，其实等于是一种纠缠，一种滋扰，一种侵犯。不要误以为对方的冷淡反应是不明白，或是一种故作的姿态。这两种情况当然也是有的。但为数实在极少。与其推测对方不明白，莫如分析自己为什么装糊涂？与其怀疑对方故作姿态，莫如问问自己是否太一厢情愿强求缘分？ 在所有一切“爱”这个宇处于谓语位置的行为中，依我看来——“乞爱”是最劣等的行为。于男人是下贱，于女人是卑贱。 在爱这个宇的后面，加上“情”、加上“心”、加上“意”，爱就处在主语的位置了。“爱意”是所有世间情意中最温馨的一种。使人感觉到，那乃是对方在某一时某一地某一种情况下，所能给予自己的临界极限的情意。再多给予一点点，就超越了极限。超越了极限，便是另外一回事了。正因为在极限上，所以具有着相当特殊的令我们深为感动的意昧儿和意义。 充满“爱意”的目光，乃是从女人的极其善良的爱心中自然流露的。它具有母性的成分。误将此当作和“爱”或和“爱情”有关的表达去理解，不是女人们的错，是男人们的错。据此进一步产生非分之想的男人，则就错上加错，大错特错了！ 我最尊祟的人，正是一个充满博爱之心的人。在这样的人面前，我会羞惭得什么话都不敢说了。我遇到过这样的人。非是在文人和知识者中，而是在普通百姓中。我常不禁地想象，这样的人，乃是“隐于市”的大隐者，或幻化了形貌的菩萨。 “爱心”是具有自然而然的影响力的。除非人拒绝它的影响，排斥它的影响，抵触它的影响。 我们只要愿意发现，就不难发现，并且不得不承认，往往是从最普通的某些人们身上，亦既寻常百姓中的某些人们身上，一再地闪耀出“爱心”的动人的光晕。在寻常百姓的阶层里，充满“爱心”的故事，产生得比其它一切阶层多得多。 “爱情”也如“爱心”一样，普遍地存在于寻常百姓阶层之中。某些文人和知识者最不能容忍我这一种观点。他们必认为我指的根本不是“爱情”，只不过是“婚姻”。 而我固执地认为，对于百姓而言，“爱情”若不走向“婚姻”，必不是完美的“爱情”。百姓是现实的。 当安娜坠人爱河以后，她毅然提出与自己的丈夫卡若林离婚。 不顾上流社会的谴责，毅然决定与渥伦斯基结婚。这时，“爱”在安娜心里，上升为“爱情”了。她期待着他为他们的“爱情”负起“婚姻”的责任。她自己能做的，她已做到了。但是渥伦斯基并不打算真的负起什么责任。他要的只不过就是“爱”，而且得到了。责任使他厌烦透顶，因而他们发生激烈的争吵，因而绝望的安娜只有卧轨自杀…… 渥伦斯基“爱”安娜是真的。 安娜对他的“爱情”也是真的。 悲剧是由二人所要求的东西在本质上不同造成的——安娜要有责任感的“爱情”，它必然与“婚姻”连在一起，成为完整的要求。渥伦斯基仅要不附加任何责任前提的“爱”。他认为有爱已足够了。连安娜为他们的“爱”而毅然离婚，在他看来都是愚矗的，不明智的。 一个现象是——某些大谈“爱情”至上的男士们，其实本意要的仅仅是“爱”。 但另一个现象是——渐多起来的女人们，也开始为男人们预设圈套了。她们以自己为饵，钓男人们的钱财。 牛郎织女式的夫妻，在寻常百姓中一对儿一对儿的依然很多很多。他们的生活里离不开生儿育女，离不开萝卜白菜，离不开吵架拌嘴，但也离不开责任感。责任感是他们组成家庭之前的最神圣的相互承诺。谁主内，谁主外，大的开销究竟谁说了算，小的花费谁有自主权，诸如此类一切某些男士和女士嗤之以鼻的内容，在他们都是必须加以考虑的。但是据我看来，这些俗内容，一点儿也不影响他们一对儿一对儿的夫妻恩爱着。 在没有婚姻为载体的“爱情”中，到头来，遍体鳞伤的几乎注定了是女人。她们获得过的某些欢乐、某些幸福，往往被最终的悲伤抵消得一干二净。 在没有婚礼为载体的“爱情”中，女人扮演的只能是“情妇”的角色。 而古今中外，这一角色，乃女人最不甘的角色。也是最不符合男女之间自然关系的角色。即或那些专以猎名流、傍权贵、傍“大款”为能事的女人，一旦觉得巩固了“情妇”的地位，也还是要产生颠覆“情夫”既有家庭取代对方妻子的野心的。这时的男人用他们“爱至上”那一套哄她们是根本没用的。所谓哄得了一时，哄不了一辈子。结果男人大抵只有三个选择——要么离婚，承认自己“爱至上”那一套论调的破产，面对既又“爱”了，就还是免不了结婚“至上”的现实。要么给她们以多多的钱财，多到她们终于满足了不打算“造反有理”为止。要么，被逼得走投无路，狗急跳墙，杀了她们，或反过来被她们所杀。 所以，据我想来，无论在外国还是在中国，“情人节”永远不会是一个值得被认真对待的日子。这是一个暖昧的灰色的日子。这世界上没多少人会真正喜欢这个日子。真的处在正常的热恋关系的男女，每一个日子都可以是他们的“情人节”。他们在那一天的拥抱和亲吻，不见得比在别的日子更温存更热烈。而既是“情妇”或“情夫”，又是丈夫或妻子的男女，肯定的，恰恰是很避讳那一天的。 即使瞒天过海凑在一起了，各自心里的感受和感想也会很苦涩。 我觉得，事实上，一个作家是很难与他或她的读者“们”交往的。 我相信大多数的作家皆和我一样，内心里最真实的愿望恰恰是拥有充分的独处的时间。究竟能拥有多少这样的时间，对作家是至关重要的。如果这种时间居然被情愿地或不情愿地压缩到了最少的程度，那么在我看来是值得同情的。 试问在中国，在目前，卓绝的评论家大名阿谁？差不多够个评论家的，我几乎都读过他们的文章，当场对面听过他们的发言。他们中有我极尊敬的人，但是我不觉得谁卓越。正如我看包括我自己在内的当代作家，没谁招得起“卓越”二宇一样。 评论和创作一样，在我看首先是职业。职业者、“啖饭之道”。 从天性上，我喜欢静。喜欢独处。 独处对我是最好最好最好的时光。 鲁迅在他所处的时代，是一位受伤颇多的作家，所以才说那样激烈的话。鲁迅还说过——跟死神走那一天，“一个也不宽容”。鲁迅的话常使我身冷。我能理解一个人不得不“横着站”内心里那种感觉。 我基本上同意鲁迅的话。 但仅限于相对鲁迅而言。 过于追求虚荣而又毫无同情心的女人我不与之交往。 女人而毫无虚荣是为女神。 女神又是根本没有的。 我不会主动与任何女人交往。 在中国，在现实中，有林黛玉那一种“自我中心”的缺点中女人比比皆是；有林黛玉那一种“淡泊功利”的女人风毛麟角，我没遇见过。 在都市里，我认为也不太可能有了。 宝玉一向被中国文人们说成是“叛逆”的典型，实在是中国文人们的故意的误导。宝玉身上，寄托着仕途失意的中国封建文人的“情结归宿”。说穿了是，以小儿女情替士大夫心。嘴上赞着宝玉，骨子里还是想当官的。若当不了官，最好宝玉似的，身边有一大群尊尊卑卑的红颜相陪着打发寂寞。宝玉的生活，是封建旧文人们“服官政”以前的向往，也是服不成官政以后的美梦。 中国封建文人们的骨气，大抵是当不成官以后的表现。之前便有的极少。宝玉身上有的根本不是什么骨气，只不过是自小在女人堆儿里被宠坏了的“女气”。宝玉非是“叛逆”的典型，是颓废的典型。 男人们的心理上，不但有“恋母情绪”，还有“恋妹情结”。无妹可恋的男人心理上也有此情结纠缠。男人疲惫了，就想变成孩子，于是从“恋母情结”那儿找安慰；男人自我感觉稍好，就想充当“护花使者”，于是“恋妹情结”满足男人的关怀心。曹氏之伟大，在于塑造了林黛玉这一男人们的尤其男文人们的“世纪妹”形象。她美、病、是孤儿、寄人篱下、有才华、多愁善感、任性、爱耍小脾气，但是本质不坏，高兴或不高兴时，谈锋永远的机智尖酸却又不失俏皮……这一切都极符合男人们措香伶玉的条件。曹氏伟大还伟大在，虽没读过弗洛伊德，却也堪称男人们的心理分析大师。 一部，栩栩如生，细致人微的人物，自然首推宝玉、黛玉、宝钗。在我看来，宝镀是正常的；黛五是病态的，体质上那样，心理上其实也那样。生理上的病根糠令人怜悯，心理上的阴幽幽令人反感。作为少女当予体恤，作为女人需要批评。这人儿身上体现出“病态美”，中国传统文人们一向也喜欢这个。中国传统文人们对女性的赏悦心理，其实一向同样是有几分病态的。 至于宝玉，太让人腻歪了。他“脚踩两只船”的“爱情游戏”，丝毫也无打动我处。我的儿子将来若有半点儿像他，我一定用巴掌加皮鞭调教过来。 这个卡耐基纯粹是胡说八道。
