卓越像个终于盼到妈妈回家的孩子，欢蹦乱跳，跑进跑出的，把卧室的床整理了一下，又抱了床被子到客厅的沙发上，还把卧室里的一些书报也移到客厅里去，又拉她到厨房，把一个明晶晃亮的煤气灶指给她看：“看，我刚买的，不是那种生铁造的架子了，是台式的，喜欢不喜欢？”
她问：“你今天搞那么晚还没去医院，就是去买这个煤气灶了？”

他转过身，抱歉说：“把你搞醒了？我在找我那件睡觉穿的衣服--- ”

她看见纸片上面有她单位的名字，觉得很奇怪，因为她印象中没丢过这样的垃圾，而且字迹很熟悉，应该是黄海的字，那是张牛皮纸，她想来想去，只能有一个解释：黄海把那本孕期知识的书寄到她上班的地方了，而卓越帮她交医生证明的时候，那里的同事让他带回来给她，但他因为小心眼，就把书藏起来没给她。
她有点好笑，这么大人了，尽吃这些飞来横醋。等他回来之后，她就笑着问他：“你是不是帮我收到一本黄海寄来的书？”
他不吭声，过了一会才问：“你怎么知道？”
她拿出那块小纸片：“我清垃圾桶的时候，看见这个了。”
他讥诮地说：“看来你还真爱那个丑八怪啊，都不惜跑垃圾桶去搜寻了--- ”
她有点生气：“那是寄给我的书，你怎么不经我允许就拆开了？”
“夫妻之间不应该有秘密--- ”
“这不是什么秘密，只是最一般地尊重人--- ”
“尊重人是有前提的，那就是你自己得尊重自己，如果你自己不尊重自己，你叫别人怎么尊重你？”
她气乎乎地问：“我怎么不尊重自己了？”
“你自己心里明白! ”他忿忿地说，“绿帽子戴到我头上来了，我看你是不想活了! ”
“我给你戴什么绿帽子了？”
“还没戴绿帽子？肚子都被人搞大了，还想瞒过我？那个丑八怪，还怕你不知道怎么照顾肚子里的杂种？大老远地寄书给你？你告诉他，你聪明得很，自然会哄骗着你那戴了绿帽子的丈夫照顾你的--- ”
她气急败坏，指着他，说不出话来：“你--- 你---- ”
“我怎么啦？说到你的痛处了？我也是觉得奇怪，就我们那个搞法，也能搞出孩子来？说出去鬼都不会相信--- ”
她压抑着火气，问：“我们哪个搞法？为什么那样就--- 搞不出
