Chapter 22 Why our entrepreneurs are taboo to learn from Asian countries

Many Japanese entrepreneurs have forgotten to learn all the time, especially the senior management of traditional large enterprises. If the managers of enterprises are like this, employees will not think about anything. Maybe it's a psychological effect. The Japanese feel that it is correct to learn everything from Europe and the United States, but they hate learning from Asian countries. If I talk about China or India, which have achieved world-renowned development, the other party will immediately counterattack, "I have heard enough about this." Regarding China, I once wrote a book called "China, On Lease", and later wrote "Using China Hard" and "China Federation", and wrote a total of three treatises on China.

In particular, I would like to talk about the book "China, On Lease", because at the time when the "China Threat Theory" was being promoted, I wrote this book on the topic of "Chinese Guest Theory", and the sales volume was very good.If China does not import Japanese materials and technology, there will be no development, so China is Japan's "customer".In short, the gist of this book is "Only China is the source of Japan's development, so Japan should further develop diplomatic relations with China." However, I think that if it is now, this book will definitely not be sold, and there will definitely be more words like "I have heard enough".

Pay attention to the Japanese media's reports on China in 2008. Because of the poisoned dumpling incident and the waste of Olympic performances, most of the remarks were negative about China, and the impact was great. No one has questioned why Japan can't learn from China's good things (such as transferring more rights to the people, etc.), and can't make full use of the geographical advantage of being adjacent to China.Even issues related to China's national conditions and China's future development have not been seriously discussed.Instead, it keeps the same tone as the United States, criticizing China's human rights violations and state dictatorship one after another, and they are fierce. If there is no Beijing Olympic Games, ordinary Japanese people's understanding of Chinese culture and economy will gradually become ignorant.

In the overwhelming "China threat theory" and "China poisonous theory", the idea of learning from China can only end up being buried. This kind of thing does not only happen to China, but also to other countries in Asia.In fact, Japan's investment in Asian countries is gradually decreasing. For example, in 2007, Vietnam's direct overseas investment increased by 69% compared with 2006, reaching 20.3 billion US dollars, of which Japan's investment in Vietnam was less than that of South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia.Excluding the European Union, which tops the list, Japanese investment in Singapore has been declining for two consecutive years.

The Singapore Exchange (SGX) opened the "Catalist" for fast-growing companies in Asia. In February 2008, it released a list of financial institutions stationed on the "Catalist", none of which is from Japan. These are nothing more than proof that Japan has gradually become "staying at home" internationally. Think calmly at this point. What I hope is that in the past few decades, Japan will be able to produce large international companies, and become stronger and stronger, and actively expand their business to China, India, other Asian countries, or even Europe. .If it has been behind closed doors, then domestic enterprises will become weaker and weaker.

After the financial crisis in 2008, layoffs were the first to be carried out. Although this will be criticized, there is nothing wrong with global expansion like Toyota and Canon, which have driven the Japanese economy in recent years. So just like Japan Post (which caused confusion) and Chubu International Airlines (which managed to cut costs by more than 100 billion yen), the Toyota model should be used when it is in trouble, and the Keidanren should also... …companies facing difficulties will be fine from now on using the Toyota Way. However, Japan is not only Toyota and Canon. In addition, there are many excellent companies actively integrating into globalization. For example, Alps Electric, Yazaki Sogyo, Takata, etc., all have more than 50 factories abroad and have trade relations with countries all over the world. The domestic part of the sales of these companies only accounts for 20%, but the overseas share is much higher, so these companies are not familiar to people in China, but it is such companies that are driving Japan's economic growth.

It is those Japanese companies that do not stop thinking and realize that "there is no way out for self-defense" and go global, holding the lifeline of Japan's economy. But at the same time, it is a pity that many traditional large enterprises and some enterprises that only focus on the domestic market have gradually lost their competitiveness.Without the existence of the above two kinds of enterprises, the Japanese economy would surely experience a greater setback, and our life would become even more embarrassing. Although it is the politicians, bureaucrats, and media that caused the decline in the IQ of the Japanese nationals and ultimately led to the decline in Japan's collective IQ, it seems that the top executives or managers of those companies can also be added to it.

It is certainly a good thing for Japan to aim to be an "industrial power" and a "technological power", but what should really be concerned at the moment is how to solve the problem of low IQ of corporate managers.
