Chapter 12 Part D (Part 18-Part 22)

New ideas are not enough. To find the most suitable life path for a struggler, he still needs expert guidance and design, as well as reasonable persistence and abandonment. Dalian's Helen Keller Bill Gates in Hangzhou Luoshan's choice of studying abroad Joe Mai's second degree Such a youthful song Case Tips: Min Min, female, a student at the English College of Dalian University. She suffers from severe eye disease and her vision is only 0.02.But she was not willing to be at the mercy of fate and dreamed of studying abroad. For this reason, she came to New Oriental to study TOEFL and scored 550 points in the mock test.Teacher Xu was surprised, but also very moved.

But Teacher Xu objected to her going abroad. Is there any reason for Teacher Xu's objection? In the early spring of 2000, I went to the New Oriental Xiangshan Accommodation Department to give lectures. After it was over, a girl came up to me.Her image is very special, with yellow hair, fair skin, and thin eyes.I wondered when the foreign teacher came to the mountain, why didn't I know?I didn't expect her to speak to me in Northeast Mandarin. After listening to her introduction, my heart ached. Min Min is a student of Dalian University English College. She was born with an incurable disease: amblyopia. Her eyes, unable to see the largest letter on the eye chart, are only 0.02 degrees, and she can only take care of simple daily life by herself. In China's Law on the Protection of Disabled Persons, they are legally blind. The most frightening thing is that no matter what method is used, her vision cannot be corrected.Min Min's illness was born, a fact that cannot be accepted and must be accepted. In the dark world, she used her last remaining vision to fight against fate. After years of struggle, Min Min still refuses to admit the cruelty of fate. She has no money, no relationships, no vision. What else does she have? She has a dream.

She looked at Xiwei's blue sky in Xiwei's morning light, and fantasized about Xiwei's chances in life.In her mind, at some point, a gap in the sky opened, and a ray of light shot in: she thought of the way of studying abroad. So I came to New Oriental to read TOEFL.The results of her years of learning English were revealed in the class: in the mock exam, she was able to score more than 550 points. As far as English ability is concerned, she already has the conditions to study abroad. But, can Min Min go abroad like this?Should Min Min go abroad with his appearance? Is going abroad the best choice for Min Min?I fell into stern thought.

She said, "Mr. Xu, do you think I can go abroad with my appearance?" She kept her eyes on me as she spoke.Even though I knew she couldn't see my facial expression, I still gritted my teeth and held back the tears. My fists are clenched tightly. I don't know who I want to fight! I said in my heart: "You want to go abroad, you are really crazy! How can you go abroad! How can you go abroad!" Of course Min Min's hearing is very good, and she must have compensatory supernormal functions.Of course she recognized the language in my silence at once. She stood there without speaking, her chest heaving violently.I knew that her psychological defenses were collapsing.I also know that I will not let her collapse.

I said: "Min Min, I don't think you should take the road of studying abroad. Completely forget about this matter. The Long March is great, but when the Red Army set off from Jinggangshan, after all, they left all the wounded in the Soviet area. Your eyesight is so poor, living abroad What to do? There are not so many people abroad who can take care of you by your side every day. And I don’t know why the visa officer will give you a visa to let you go.” After all, people with normal vision have many unbearable physical and mental health problems Mental pressure, if Min Min went out like this, the consequences would be really unimaginable.

Min Min is just one of countless typical examples who came to New Oriental to "struggle" when they should never have gone abroad. How many people with good eyesight have been blinded, lost their way, made a wrong turn on the issue of studying abroad, fallen into the trap of so-called "struggle", and rushed towards the oil lamp of so-called "pursuit". I don't blame the students, and I don't blame myself. After all, I cannot bring personalized guidance to people in every corner of the planet at New Oriental Consulting, although we have been working hard in this direction.Strugglers must pay attention to how to design a clear and feasible goal for themselves, just like investing in stocks, the choice of stocks determines the success or failure of your investment. What life goal to choose is not the same, or even more important.Sadly, how many young people are running wildly in the dark, thinking that they are going in the direction of light, but in fact, they have walked into eternal darkness.

Facing Min Min, I pondered sternly. After thinking about it, I said to her: "Min Min, I suggest you go back to your Dalian immediately, and I will refund your registration fee to you. Don't think about studying abroad, give up the idea of going abroad completely. Go back to Dalian and look for your way out. "How do you find your way out when you go back to Dalian? You are learning English, aren't you? That's fine. If you want to avoid working as a blind massager for the rest of your life, you should study your English well and try to master this last or even the only Opportunity, out of the dark night of life.

"Learning English, while using your limited eyesight, try to use some high-tech means, such as computer recording equipment. On the Internet, there are a lot of English teaching resources available for you to use; countless foreign classics have recorded versions of recitations There have been e-books abroad, which can read all English novels and articles aloud. You can use these suddenly enriched learning methods to push your English ability to the limit in the fastest and most solid way. This is something you can control and can Grasping is therefore a more realistic path of struggle to change destiny.

"Set the goal of your life struggle to be a qualified translator. A qualified translator can have various interpretations, but as a means of your survival, I believe you can definitely do it, even you can do it now You can do text translation first, then dialogue translation, and finally, after reaching a certain level in English, make a breakthrough in the direction of simultaneous translation. Simultaneous translation is of course not easy to learn. But no matter how difficult it is, it is not as dangerous as studying abroad! The level of simultaneous translation is also uneven. The highest is Du Zihua, the vice president, and the lowest is Xu Xiaoping (Du Zihua can start to translate from the third word of the other party, but Xu can only speak at the last three words of the other party), you As long as it reaches the lowest level, it is already a miracle! It is equivalent to the Red Army breaking through the natural barrier Lazikou and arriving at Yan'an, the holy land of revolution! Congratulations! Warm congratulations!

"If this is the case, your life in the next few years will be very fulfilling. In the process of learning English, you can translate some small articles and contribute to make money. There is a huge demand for such articles in domestic newspapers and magazines. Dalian is an open city with a developed economy , There must be a lot of factories and enterprises that need text translation. Try to find some translation jobs. Not only can you support yourself, but you can also be an activist who contributes to China's economic miracle. If you really gain a reputation for translation, you can hire other translators to join , set up Minmin Translation Agency. You will be successful! --What is success for you? In fact, it is just to support yourself with dignity, and even to support others by creating job opportunities. Although it also includes exploitation, it is already It is an extraordinary and indomitable success.

"Within five or six years, you will definitely reach this level of success. At that time, if you can really do a basically qualified translation, don't say the same voice, even if you lose your voice. At the Dalian International Fashion Festival, let Mayor Bo Xilai grandly launched you and translated for him. Of course, he will copy his speech to you in advance. As soon as it is broadcast on TV, you will immediately become the pride of Dalian people and the symbol of Dalian city! Immediately! It will open the windows of the hearts of all people with eyes and without eyes in the country, and become a symbol of our era of struggle!" Actually, the prospect I described is not excessive at all.that is the truth.I still don’t know what else Zhang Haidi has done besides translating a 100,000-word book. But the image of her singing and dancing in a wheelchair still makes me deeply moved: not to sigh for fate, but to dare to fight against misfortune, it is really the greatest spiritual power of our nation, and it is the greatest spiritual force of all people including myself. People need role models to learn from. Min Min, if she can become a role model for the people of the whole country, it is not because she has done any supernatural things, but because she has found a path suitable for her development and embarked on a future. highway. That's all. This is the life path I designed for Min Min. I admit that this is the private highway I have specified for her.Can Min Min become an English translator? In fact, when Min Min "heard" me for the first time, she had already mastered English through self-study, and she was already a translator. What Min Min has to do is to continue to work hard on the road of English learning, from quantitative change to qualitative change, to continuously improve his gold content as a "translator", and finally become the pure gold in the field of translation. If one day, objective factors (such as complete blindness) make Min Min's English only at a certain level, at least, she can also be an 18K gold translator and still have a shining value. In fact, if Min Min is really completely blind—God bless her not—maybe it will be more motivating for her to break the boat and fulfill her century-long wish of being a master interpreter, making her the Helen Keller of Dalian. Everyone can be Min Min, including friends with 2.0 eyesight. Case Tips: Sun Xiaoguang, graduated from Hangzhou Institute of Electronic Engineering.Because he was dissatisfied with this school, Sun Xiaoguang's father planned to let him drop out of school and go to the United States in the first semester of enrollment.Teacher Xu dispelled his idea of letting his son transfer to a foreign country, and carefully formulated a four-year plan for Sun Xiaoguang. During the four years, Sun Xiaoguang acted according to the plan, and everything went smoothly. When he graduated, he actually received admission notices from two universities in the United States. At this time, Sun Xiaoguang firmly refused to go abroad, and he got the support of Mr. Xu.Let's see how Sun Xiaoguang's father deals with Xu Xiaoping, who is rebellious! Bill Gates in Hangzhou is called Sun Xiaoguang.Sun Xiaoguang's father is a magistrate.Local officials ruled over 2.5 million people, and Sun Xiaoguang, the only son. Sun Xiaoguang and I are considered to be from the same hometown, and his father used to be the parent officer in my hometown. So, when his father asked someone to find me for his son's future study abroad, I was flattered for the first time.It seems that it is not Sun Xiaoguang who seeks help, but my old man who consults the master. My parents have been retired for 30 years, and there is no need to seek him for a job or anything, but I, who have always respected the leaders, still received Secretary Sun from my hometown like a grandson. You can say it's my virtue, you can also say it's my ugliness.I will not express it here, but only talk about the thunderous and thrilling life path I designed for Sun Xiaoguang. Sun Xiaoguang failed in the college entrance examination and entered Hangzhou Institute of Electronic Technology Engineering. This made his father Sun Shuji very disappointed.Secretary Sun's son was supposed to go to Peking University and Tsinghua University but failed, which made Secretary Sun really embarrassed. So Secretary Sun moved his son to transfer to the United States when he was just in the first semester of school. This is the context in which they found me. I have always been opposed to the transfer of undergraduates to the United States. The reason why I oppose transferring schools is ideological first: because I don’t think there is any need to evade China’s undergraduate education. After all, outstanding sons born in China, such as myself, were trained in Chinese universities. We need to go to the West to study, but if the basic knowledge and world view are not formed in China, a very important part of life will be missing. My second argument against undergraduate transfers is technical and is visa risk. The refusal rate of transfer visas has always been relatively high.A student struggled for a year and two years, and finally got admitted to an American university, but was ruthlessly sent back at the visa window. This was a devastating blow to the student's body and mind.Because in the process of transferring to another school, he has already announced with his actions that he is unwilling to join forces with his classmates, and he has publicly alienated himself from the people around him, making himself a dissident in the eyes of his classmates. From painstaking efforts to being rejected at the end, people will not condemn the ruthlessness of the visa officer, but only laugh at the applicant's misfortune. This is also human nature. As a result, those children who failed to transfer to another school could not go to the United States, and they could not sleep well when they returned to their original dormitory. They became the first batch of stranded people in the wave of studying abroad. These are my two reasons against transferring undergraduates to the US.If one day American visas are guaranteed, educational exchanges between China and the United States become more free, and the management of Chinese college students' enrollment becomes more relaxed, maybe my point of view will change. This is the future. Based on the above reasons, as soon as I heard Secretary Sun's plan, I immediately expressed my opposition. It doesn't matter whether he is the parent officer of my parents or not.I stated my general opinion, and finally said: "Besides, as a good cadre, your family has no savings for your child to study abroad. Sending your child abroad in this way is simply killing a chicken to get its eggs." Secretary Sun was not willing to give up sending his son to study abroad in advance He said: "The economy is not a problem. I have a classmate in the United States and I am willing to support him." I said: "Impossible, there is no such good thing in the world!" He said: "It is true. That’s true! He opened a restaurant in this city, and he has bought rubber gloves for the children, so they can work when they come!” “Rubber gloves? What do rubber gloves have to do with work?” I asked knowingly and cunningly. "Dishwashing, this is a restaurant." Secretary Sun explained. I said: "This is not subsidy, this is self-help! This is to ask Sun Xiaoguang to work to support himself. In the United States, there is no free lunch. Look, Sun Xiaoguang has not gone yet, and has already started a small job as a dishwashing worker. Secretary Sun, torture There are many ways for my son, why give this happiness to others!" I hit the iron hot, and then said: "Hangzhou Institute of Electronic Engineering is a good school. Chinese universities are uniformly formulated by the Ministry of Education, and the quality is good. Sun Xiaoguang’s is a computer. Before the computer, everyone is equal. Tsinghua students use Pentium in Tsinghua University, and Sun Xiaoguang also Pentium in Hangzhou. There is no difference in technology. Is there a difference between Tsinghua University and Hangdian? Yes. But the real difference lies in the individual The change in quality will be obvious in the next four years. After all, the students in Tsinghua are well-informed and talented, but this gap can be resolved by coming to New Oriental. You can let Xiaoguang spend the winter and summer vacations every year in the next few years. They all come to New Oriental to attend classes. The best students in the country, including those from Peking University and Tsinghua University, gather here. Soaking with these students, participating, experiencing, and perceiving the pursuit of the spirit and wisdom of China's best young people, after four years, Xiaoguang is equal to He went to another university and got two degrees. I believe his future will not be worse than that of any Tsinghua student! Entrust his future to me, and I can guarantee that he will reach this level. "Before the start of the fourth academic year, Xiaoguang strived to pass the TOEFL and GRE exams. Immediately after the exam, I started to help him apply for studying in the United States. In this way, he went to the United States to study for graduate school in the year he graduated. Are you sure? I will help him apply , if he can't go to Harvard—the people from Hangdian said that going to Harvard is a bit of a mystery—he will definitely be able to enter the top 20 schools in the United States. What are you worried about? You can leave the matter of Xiaoguang to me, you Just concentrate on doing more good things for the people in your hometown!" Speaking of this, I thought to myself: Why should I say that? Why should I kiss his ass? Will a good leader like Secretary Sun be uncomfortable with my fiery face?So I added: "Secretary Sun, I am so concerned about Xiaoguang's future, not because you once served as a parent officer in my hometown, but because of the instinct of an educator. Whether it is a minister's daughter or a farmer's son, as long as you find me, I treat everyone equally, and there is no distinction between teaching and learning. You must not think that I have made a good promise now, and I will not be so active in the future after you step down--I am not looking at you, but your son and my student. "I'm telling the truth. Four years have passed in the blink of an eye.In the past four years, Sun Xiaoguang has carried out my suggestions meticulously. He has come to New Oriental to take classes every winter and summer vacation. Every time he comes to New Oriental, he politely refuses to call me and does not take advantage of his privileges to bother me about anything. When I was giving lectures to students, I often saw this handsome and tall young man sitting under the stage looking at me with ambiguity and admiration, secretly proud of my special relationship with him.He stood out from the crowd. The children in my hometown can grow up like this, which shows that the race there is not bad.Although I don't show a racial advantage myself, it is because of three years of natural disasters and ten years of turmoil.I often feel guilty for myself and for the common people. Therefore, when I saw Sun Xiaoguang, it was like seeing my own child, and I was always very happy. The only shortcoming of this excellent boy is that he is a bit shy and introverted. All told, I probably talked to him three times in those four years. The first time his father came to see me in Beijing. The second time was after the end of the first year, he came to Beijing to attend New Oriental’s winter vacation class. I invited him to dinner and gave him this kind of guidance: I said: “Study computer technology well, but don’t stick to the teacher’s teaching. The place may be relatively closed, the concept may be relatively stupid, and the teacher is still teaching you the keyboard technology before the invention of the mouse. For such things, you must have judgment. Where does the judgment come from? It comes from your love and study of your profession, and Not only from the teacher's teaching. Looking at one's own learning content with a critical eye is the greatest respect for the teacher. "In addition to studying, you must be particularly active in participating in student activities. Participating in student activities determines whether a person will be successful after graduation, at least in a social and commercial sense. When the time is right, run for the chairman of the student union. You Although Dad is not a big official, he can rule 2.5 million people. If you can’t even be the chairman of the student union of 2,500 people, you are not your father’s son. Being the chairman of the student union means social practice, training own management skills and the ability to deal with people. "The above two things must be done well. The next thing is English. However, the focus of learning English must not forget that in addition to the test, there is also the ability to use it. You always have to pay for studying abroad, so test scores are very important. But What is the purpose of studying abroad? You have to consider this question. You are the only child. After studying abroad, you must return to China. If you are not promising, you will find a noble and decent job. Studying abroad is not important at the time. Therefore, I would like to emphasize that your English study plan should pay equal attention to practical ability and examination skills." In the spring of 2001, I received a call from Sun Xiaoguang, who wanted to come to Beijing to "report" to me on his development .Sun Xiaoguang called me personally, which seemed unusual. In the past, he used to get in touch with me through his father. He said he was about to graduate from Hangzhou Institute of Electronic Technology Engineering with excellent grades and fluent spoken English. Moreover, under the personal packaging of Bao Fanyi, the vice president of New Oriental and a master of writing, he was admitted to the computer department of New York University and the University of Southern California.Of these two schools, one ranked tenth and the other eleventh in the ranking list of computer majors. He said he wanted to come to Beijing to ask me about my next step, and asked if I could receive him. After answering the phone, I thought happily and gratifiedly that four years of painstaking efforts have been harvested! His success is the success I designed for him.I don't know what kind of gift he is going to bring me.So I was very excited to wait for him. Unexpectedly, Sun Xiaoguang arrived in Beijing, holding the admission notice from a famous American school in his hand, with infinite pain on his face!Unexpectedly, there was no heavy gift that made me happy, and I didn't even bring a goose feather. It only takes a minute for me to know where Sun Xiaoguang's trouble is.After hearing his pain, my heart was ecstatic. It turned out that Sun Xiaoguang actively participated in student activities when he was in school. At the beginning of the third year, he really participated in the election and defeated nine other candidates in one fell swoop to become the chairman of the student union of Hangzhou Institute of Electronic Engineering. As the chairman of the student union, he actively participated in, carried out, developed and deepened social practice activities, established effective contacts with local enterprises, and even won several network engineering contracts. With the active help and promotion of his thesis advisor—by the way, this teacher is also a respectable teacher who returned to his hometown to teach after obtaining a doctorate from a famous American university—Sun Xiaoguang established a high-tech company. He and his thesis advisor are the legal person and majority shareholder of this high-tech company, but he himself is the general manager. In the name of this company, he took over some engineering contracts. His father also supported him to do some practical work, and through his classmates and friends, he also got some business for him. When Sun Xiaoguang graduated, he not only made a lot of money with his fellow activists in the student union, he also became half a millionaire himself!Earned hundreds of thousands of RMB!At this time, he has not graduated yet!The bizarre story of Sun Xiaoguang hardly seems to be true, but it is certainly not false.I'm literally jealous of him.Now kids!I sigh. I never put student success on my account. But I think Sun Xiaoguang's wealth is what I earned for him.If I hadn't tried my best to prevent him from transferring abroad, if I hadn't encouraged him to participate in social activities and work as a student, there is no doubt that he, who is naturally shy, would not have achieved today's success.Of course, I'm just smug in my heart, feeling a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, and I won't say it.Speaking out, dividends are not easy to handle! I warmly congratulated Sun Xiaoguang, but he seemed very painful: "Mr. Xu, the problem now is that I don't want to study abroad. I want to continue to run my company. Our company's business volume will exceed one million next year. It is absolute." , now I have two orders of 300,000 to 400,000 yuan. But my dad firmly opposes my giving up my study abroad plan in the United States this year, and insists that I give up my company and go to the United States. What do you think should be done?" I think this matter should be compared Easy to handle. There is no doubt that I firmly support Sun Xiaoguang to stay and continue to run this company. You must know that among the high-tech giants in the United States, several of them gave up their studies halfway to start their own businesses. Everyone knows that Bill Gates studied at Harvard for two years and saw that the opportunity came, so he stopped studying.McDell, the king of American computer hardware, also dropped out of college in the third year to create Dell Computer.Sun Xiaoguang's chances, if not better than Bill and Mike's, are certainly not worse than Chuanzhi and Yuan Qing's! Ha ha!I cheer, a billionaire is about to be born with my assistance!Maybe in the future he will give me some stock in the name of asking me to give a speech fee!I was passionate and heartbroken: "Xiaoguang, don't worry, your study abroad and future are contracted by me to your father, I think your father will listen to me. I firmly support you to give up this year's enrollment and continue to go back to your company And I suggest that you have a slightly longer-term plan if you want to do it. You don’t have to rush to go abroad next year or next year, so that you are oppressing yourself year after year. Simply put, you go back and work hard on your company and make a five-year plan Let’s talk about earning a seven-figure figure. I will guarantee you to study abroad at any time!” I deeply envy Sun Xiaoguang, and envy that he was born in such a great age.I even hate myself for being born a little earlier, for not being able to catch up with Xiaoguang and the others when they started their own businesses and their dreams came true. Xiaoguang's development is a miracle. But an even more unexpected miracle happened right after-his father didn't even listen to me!Secretary Sun originally knew that his son had plans to stay in China to run a company, and he had already expressed his absolute disapproval, but he was very surprised that the teacher and I would also support him.He specially flew to Beijing to meet me and told me that his son must go to the United States to study. I had an in-depth interview with him in the hotel for two or three hours, trying to convince him why his son had to stay in China instead of going abroad to study. It's a pity that Secretary Sun didn't listen to me at all.He insisted that his son must go.This is something that was agreed four years ago. "Mr. Xu, you can't go back on your word." Secretary Sun didn't give me any convincing reasons for studying abroad. But I know that letting his son study abroad is a part of his social status, social value, face, and parenting philosophy. His attitude is so firm that I even feel that it is already too late for him to agree to my suggestion four years ago to postpone his son's going abroad. Give me a face, I should be grateful to him. With the intervention of my consultation, I have made his son the strongest future pillar on the land of China, and the most promising candidate to become a billionaire in the new round of technological revolution.I even wanted to thank him for not refusing my advice that made his son successful.Really, I really want to thank him -- but not for his son, but for my students. But at this moment, for the first time, I realized that my thoughts were worthless, at least in the eyes of his old man. From his firm rejection of my opinion as the most famous overseas study expert in China, I felt for the first time that the people who ruled 2.5 million people did have their special persistence and stubborn spiritual strength. In the face of Secretary Sun's invincible will, I, the master of life design, finally lost the battle.I felt powerless and sad: his son, a future Bill Gates, was annihilated by his own hands! "Secretary Sun, have you participated in the War of Resistance Against Japan and the War of Liberation?" I asked suddenly. Secretary Sun was taken aback. I didn't know why I asked this question: "Impossible. I was just born when the Japanese surrendered and the war of liberation began. Is this question related to Xiaoguang?" I smiled apologetically.Because I think Secretary Sun with such a strong will must have killed someone. Studying abroad, studying abroad, how many people are destroying their future in your name!Qian Qian, Qian Qian, how many people are persistently pursuing failure under the guise of you! When Sun Xiaoguang heard that his last ray of hope had been shattered, he let out a mournful cry like the young intellectuals who committed suicide for love during the May Fourth Movement.I advised him not to pay attention to his father, if he didn't go out, he wouldn't go out, could he kidnap you out?He gave me a strange look, and his eyes showed the horror that I was encouraging him to kill his father and Oedipus. Sad!Anti-feudal anti-today, it turns out that in some corners of Chinese society, the degree of independence of Chinese youth is still in the dark years before the May Fourth Movement. The fate of parents and the words of the world are still determining the fate of millions of Chinese youth!Down with Kongjiadian!Liberate the new youth!Chong hindered... Sun Xiaoguang, in a confused state of mind, went for a visa under his father's random command, but was rejected; he went for a visa again, but was rejected again.Every time I take my suggestion as a deaf ear, and make up my own mind to find some acquaintances or relationships. In the end, I angrily declined the request to continue mentoring him, and I have never answered their calls since. I don't know where Sun Xiaoguang went afterwards, and I don't want to know anymore. But I know that Bill Gates in Hangzhou died in this way.No wonder Bill Gates couldn't be born in China--behind every potential Bill Gates, there is a Secretary Sun, using their own outdated and decadent values, to shatter the birth of future geniuses and destroy China's billionaire. In a Chinese society that is not independent in spirit, Chinese youths that are not liberated in personality, and a Chinese nation that is not free in thought, how could it be possible for Bill Gates to come out! Case Tips: Yu Luoshan is a fresh graduate of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1998.He was born in an educational family, and his father was the director of education in a city in the south of the Yangtze River. In the autumn of 1998, when he found Mr. Xu, he was about to graduate and faced a crossroads of life choices. His problem is: he majored in art history, but his interest and aspiration is practical art design, so he plans to go to the United States to study art design for a master's degree after graduation. He asked Mr. Xu whether this way would work.Teacher Xu immediately gave him an affirmative answer. Unexpectedly, "Cheng Yaojin was killed halfway"... Yu Luoshan came to New Oriental Consulting Office to find me, and the secretary refused to let him in when he saw that he didn't have an appointment.Yu Luoshan said enthusiastically and mysteriously: I have a special relationship with Mr. Xu, you will know when you take me to meet him! It was the autumn of 1998, and my "Visa Philosophy" had just been published. In the author profile, there was a background introduction of my graduation from the Central Conservatory of Music. And Yu Luoshan is a student of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. "We are both alumni of the art school! You should give me some special help." This is what he calls a "special relationship."If this is also a special relationship, in fact, I have a special relationship with all the students of New Oriental—we are all alumni of New Oriental. .Throughout our lives, we will face countless moments that require the support of our ancestors and those who have come. If your parents are unable to arrange these supports for you, who do you rely on?There is only one answer, like Yu Luoshan, relying on oneself.Of course, like Yu Luoshan, you must be able to leave a good impression on others with a concise and clear personal style, so that the person you are seeking to meet is willing to develop the interpersonal relationship you need with you. The problem that Yu Luoshan needs me to solve is: he is about to graduate from the Art History Department of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, what can students from the Art History Department do?Generally, they are editors, teaching, research, brokerage, business management, etc. in the art field.Due to the underdeveloped education in art management and business operations in China, the main way out for graduates of the Department of Art History is to be teaching and research personnel. They are relatively academic and bookish, and they are far away from the urgent needs of the art market in society. distant.I myself am a graduate of the Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. In a sense, Yu Luoshan and I are a major, so I have a personal experience of the problems and Yu Luoshan's troubles. Yu Luoshan told me that he was born in an educational family, and there were people who were quite accomplished in the art field in the family. He himself has a talent for art since he was a child, and he is especially interested in art decoration, that is, practical arts and crafts, and has done many projects and works in this area. But being admitted to the Department of Art History somewhat limited his artistic creativity in this aspect. Although he has not given up his efforts in design in the past few years, he is not from a major after all, and compared with other students, he is slightly inferior. Therefore, he wants to go to the United States to study for a master's degree in art design after graduation, and then return to China to invest in the prosperous and underdeveloped design market in China to win money and honor. At the same time, by the way, it also improves the level of product design in China. His vision of his future was very clear and feasible, and I supported it and told him it was the best option. He told his father what we had talked about. His father was the director of education in a medium-sized city.A few days later, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, he came to Beijing to meet me specifically for his son's affairs, and brought some "souvenir products".I think the matter of Yu Luoshan has actually been decided very simply, and it is definitely no problem to follow my opinion. There is no need to meet with father and souvenirs anymore.I see a lot of students every day at New Oriental, and I have been overloaded for several years. If I had another friendly meeting with the father of every student who met me, I would surely die soon. However, I had to see the "local products" brought by Yu Luoshan's father.Because what they used to "express their affection" to me were hairy crabs from Yangcheng Lake, Jiangsu. If they disappeared, the crabs would struggle to death in despair, which I couldn't bear. The crabs brought from Jiangsu stretched out their vicious pincers to threaten me when they saw me. The vitality of the crabs is very strong. But some adults' stereotypes are more Die Hard--stubborn.Father Yu told me straight to the point: He hoped that his son would immediately start preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.Although it is good to study abroad, who will be responsible if the son cannot leave the country next year?He hoped that his son would take a safe path. I asked Father Yu, the highest official in charge of education affairs in cities with millions of people: "Why do you want to take the postgraduate entrance examination?" Father Yu was at a loss for words and couldn't answer this question.Under my questioning, he said: "I want him to take the postgraduate entrance examination. I just want him to have a higher education, to be respected, to be nicer to speak, and to find a job easier. Of course, I hope that he will learn more with real talents." Some. Apparently high education is not a bad thing in China." I said, "I agree, high education is not a bad thing. Just like love is not a bad thing, but if it is not handled properly, there may be love murders, which is obviously bad It's a big trouble. High education depends on the purpose of pursuing it. He can't go to graduate school. Because, after finishing the graduate school, he can only continue to make a living in this academic field, but can't develop his talent in art design. after all.
