Chapter 9 Section 8: The murder that shocked the whole of America

After arriving in the United States, I started to set up gyms and teach boxing in Chicago in order to make a living. Some taught Tai Chi to the elderly, and some taught martial arts to young people.Unexpectedly, my kung fu is really good. During the three years of teaching boxing in Chicago, I have not lost a single contest with Lao Mei.As my Ph.D. in Psychology, I can play American Karate and Aikido black belts in the palm of my hand. The joyful feeling really makes people feel the magic and greatness of Chinese Kung Fu and the pride of being a Chinese. There are a lot of kung fu stories about me, so I will stop here because I just use my kung fu as an introduction to lead to the following stories:

When I got to New York, I started to make a little money from my intern work, but it was still difficult to pay off the debts I had incurred in the past few years, so I tried to go back to my old business and sell my fist. One day, I received a call. The caller said that he wanted to learn art from a teacher. Of course I welcome it, so we agreed to meet on a date. The visitor was a Chinese student with glasses. His flustered expression made me feel that the atmosphere was not right. I tried to calm him down and explain what happened. He glanced at me and said to me unabashedly, "I want to hire you to be my killer."

As soon as this remark came out, it was beyond my expectation. I trembled all over. At that moment, I felt as if I had become the knight-errant Zhang Tiebi in China. I settled down and asked him what happened. "I couldn't get along with my American roommate. He always used vicious words to irritate me. I couldn't speak, and finally one day I couldn't help but swear something that made him the most unbearable." "What's that saying?" "I called 'fuck you Jesus' and this time he was really pissed off by me, so we fought." "What was the result?"

"I had two broken ribs, and I didn't understand American law, so I didn't report the case in time. When I went to court, they said I didn't have enough evidence to settle the case." "You failed in the law, so what do you do?" Hearing this, I finally understood his motivation for wanting to hire me as a killer as soon as he walked in the door. For a Chinese student who traveled across the ocean to study in the United States, it is indeed a tragedy to encounter such a thing. However, from a psychological point of view, such a tragedy should be avoidable. He then told me that because of this incident, he was disheartened about his studies and did not graduate with a master's degree. Now he is unemployed and has nothing to do at home, and he only thinks about revenge all day long. From his current situation, I can vaguely see his past, his ignorance of interpersonal relationships, his loss of control of his inner anger, and his loss of self-confidence.I told him that it is not too late for a gentleman to take revenge for ten years, and the most important thing now is to cheer yourself up and never give up on yourself.Of course I also encouraged him to learn martial arts, but he was obviously only addicted to his hatred and couldn't extricate himself.

"Since you don't want to be my killer, I'll take my leave, but I'll definitely find one." He left my house muttering to himself.Looking at his back, I exclaimed, a Chinese student studying abroad who wanted to realize the American dream has now become an avenger full of hatred and abandoning everything. Could this be his original intention when he went abroad? Could this be his living reason? significance?I also think of the massacre at the University of Iowa that shocked the United States many years ago. A Chinese student shot and killed several people just for a reward.I saw the shadow of the tragedy in the Chinese student above, but I could only watch him leave my home, and I felt helpless.
