Chapter 4 Chapter 4 Breaking through the life and death line

When Bai Chuan took office, there were only four days before the League of Nations held a special meeting.Bai Chuan must defeat or even wipe out the Chinese army in Shanghai within four days. How will he make a decision?Facing the unfavorable situation, how did Cai Tingkai deal with it? To some extent, the success or failure of the battlefield is the weight on the negotiating table. The Chinese army resisted, but the Japanese army made no progress, which made the third Anglo-American mediation a matter of course. In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), on February 28, the day when Wang Geng was arrested by the Japanese Marine Corps in the concession, the British were the host, and the negotiators of China and Japan held an extraordinary meeting on the British ship "Kent". Formal armistice negotiations.

The Chinese representatives participating in the negotiations were Gu Weijun and Huang Qiang, Chief of Staff of the 19th Route Army. The Japanese representatives are Yoshizaburo Nomura, who is not a layman in diplomacy, and Yosuke Matsuoka, the special envoy of the Japanese Prime Minister. This Matsuoka Yosuke is not simple, we will introduce it later. During this negotiation, Gu Weijun proposed that the Chinese army could withdraw 40 miles from the current line of defense, but the condition was that the Japanese army must also withdraw from the concession and existing positions. Since they didn't find any bargains on the battlefield, Nomura didn't feel too bad about this proposal at first. It was just a matter of face. They insisted that the Chinese side withdraw first before they could withdraw.

Once off the boat, Nomura regretted it. In the current battlefield situation, even if the Chinese army withdraws first, the Japanese side will lose face.I don't know, I thought we couldn't beat the Chinese talents to "beg for surrender".Besides, we still have trump cards behind us, that is General Bai Chuan who is about to arrive in Shanghai and more reinforcements. The conclusion reached is: this matter cannot be done. But at the negotiating table, he had already personally agreed to it. It doesn't matter. You can see clearly that this is an "informal armistice negotiation", and there is no signature or pledge. If you can rely on it, you can delay it.

Therefore, after the negotiations on the "Kent" were over, Nomura and Matsuoka all automatically disappeared, and no one could be found anywhere. The verbal agreement reached by the two parties naturally became a painting to satisfy the hunger. The next day, the savior they had been thinking about day and night finally came. On February 29, the commander of the "Shanghai Expeditionary Force", General Shirakawa Yoshinori, took the cruiser "Myoko" to the first mooring point at the mouth of the Yangtze River. In fact, from the moment Shirakawa left Tokyo, he knew that there was not much time left for him.

March 4th is the day when the League of Nations held a special meeting. At this meeting, the focus will be on the Sino-Japanese Shanghai case, and the information revealed from within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will not be beneficial to Japan no matter what the outcome is. In other words, he must defeat and eliminate the Chinese army in Shanghai before this day, otherwise, it will be a failure. From now on, there are still 4 days, and he has to count backwards. Ginger is still old and spicy, and it is not an exaggeration to apply this to Bai Chuan. After listening to the report, he immediately realized that if he continued to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors, 40 days, let alone 4 days, might not be able to truly end the war in Shanghai.

This is not alarmist talk.Starting from Yanze, the Japanese army continued to increase its troops, but the Chinese defenders fought more and more courageously, and there was no sign of weakness. In the blink of an eye, a month has passed, and the Kanazawa division and Kurume brigade, who had come to kill them aggressively, not only failed to accomplish an inch, but they were beaten so badly that they lost their temper.Although he won a Jiangwan, it is really embarrassing to say it, because that place is like giving it away. Yes, this time he will send two main divisions to the field, which can greatly enhance the attack and combat power in front. The problem is that time is too late, and the Chinese army is not without backup. At that time, the 47th Division (Shangguan Yunxiang Division) and the 9th Division (Jiang Dingwen Division) were moving to Shanghai, and the 1st Division (Hu Zongnan Division) was approaching the north bank of the Yangtze River.

This person said, the Japanese army is dispatched as soon as they say it is. Although it is across the sea, it will land on the beach in a few days after an order is issued. Why are you three troops shrinking and shrinking? Still can't come to join the battle? The objective reason is that the motorization capabilities and levels of the two armies are not at the same level. The more objective reason is that we do not have control of the air and sea (or control of the river) in our own hands. Without air supremacy, the sky became dominated by Japanese aircraft, and the traffic around Shanghai was completely cut off.Think about it, the Japanese bombers didn't even let the refugees go, let alone the troops on the march, which made it very difficult to transport the troops.Although Shangguan Yun Xiangshi and Jiang Dingwen set off early, they only walked on two legs most of the time. The reason was that many sections of the railway line along the way were bombed and could not be used at all.In this way, many times I dare not leave during the day, even if I walk, I am afraid of being bombed by the plane.

Master Hu Zongnan was even more embarrassed. Since the Chinese navy did not participate in the war at all, not to mention the sea, even the Yangtze River was thrown to the Japanese navy. If the navy doesn't help, the troops crossing the river will be overwhelmed. Not to mention that the Japanese navy has blocked the Yangtze River long ago, claiming that once the Chinese army passes through, it will fire artillery to block it. Just finding a ship is a very tricky thing. You know, a reorganization division is not a small number, and it is not enough to solve the problem with one or two fishing boats.

The Yangtze River was called "Natural Danger" at that time. There are not so many bridges on the river waiting for you to stroll around.Unless you can fly, it's not that easy to get across easily. For this reason, even if the three Chinese reinforcements who came from different directions heard that the Shanghai side had been turned over, they could only be in a hurry. The only way they can adopt is to protect themselves first (if the Japanese planes are bombed like this without any obstruction, even if they can get to Shanghai in the shortest time, the division organization may only become a brigade or regiment), and then While the Japanese navy and air force were not paying attention, they divided the troops into groups and "slid" over quietly.

On February 27, Xiangshi Shangguan Yun used this "stupid method", and his forward regiment was the first to reach Huangdu in the suburbs of Shanghai. It was not until March 1 that the main force of the entire division approached Shanghai. It is now February 29, and the main force of the three divisions are looking at "Shanghai" and sighing. But Bai Chuan, who has written military monographs, is very clear: refueling tactics are taboo for military strategists. He can never win by constantly adding troops to the frontal battlefield like Ueda. Where is the way to win? It was also a housekeeping skill used by the Japanese army for attack: outflank and roundabout.

This is exactly in line with what Bai Chuan often said: "As long as you can attack the enemy in a detour, you should not attack the enemy head-on." The question was from which direction to outflank, or to put it another way, where to land troops. Shanghai's topography determines that it can have many landing points, which is like a multiple-choice question before Bai Chuan. If you look at it roughly, Hangzhou Bay in the south is undoubtedly a good choice, because there is almost no defense here. But Bai Chuan quickly vetoed it himself. The reason is that it is far away from the main battlefield in Songhu. Once the Japanese troops landed, the Chinese troops would have enough time to react and organize defenses, which did not conform to the "quick and sudden" characteristics of such tactics. In addition, when Bai Chuan came out of the house, he had a magic spell on his head. That is what the cabinet has repeatedly cared about, not to expand the war to the concession area, so as not to cause complaints and interference from Britain, the United States and other countries (“Don’t spread the war to the Shanghai concession”). If it lands in Hangzhou Bay, it is bound to attack north. At that time, swords and guns have no eyesight, and there is no guarantee that the shells will lose their sight, and they will accidentally run into the concession and cause some trouble. If Hangzhou Bay doesn't work, where should I choose? I now have a geographical map of Shanghai in front of me. It may not be as detailed as the military map used by Shirakawa, but the basic outline is always the same.I can imagine the thinking of this Japanese army general back then: if the south is not good, then look north. Looking all the way, his eyes were fixed on one place. Qiyakou. I believe that if it weren't for the Songhu War, no one would care about such a place. It is a very inconspicuous small village on the bank of the Yangtze River, and its location is very remote.Like the map I used, you can't find the name even if you move a microscope. But later facts showed that Bai Chuan's choice was correct. I am writing a book, so I dare not be sloppy, so I drew another picture. Qiyakou is located in the east of Liuhe.Judging from the deployment of the Chinese defenders, it belongs to the rear and is the defense zone of the 5th Army on the left.If you land here, it will be quite sudden. At the same time, because the river beach in this area is flat and open, it is also convenient for troops to land ashore. The most important thing is that after seizing Qiyakou, go south to complete the detour and outflank of the Chinese defenders in Songhu. To the west, we can go straight to Kunshan and cut off the Shanghai-Nanjing line, so as to keep the Chinese reinforcements at the periphery of the encirclement (Shangguan Yun Xiangshi later sent reinforcements from this direction). At that time, after Cai Tingkai gave up Jiangwan, he rebuilt two lines of defense from east to west. The first line is the defense line of Miaoxing and Dachang, and the second is the defense line of Jiading and Huangdu. At this time, the troops were mainly concentrated within the first line of defense. Shirakawa's wishful thinking was that the Kanazawa Division and the Zentsuji Division that landed later launched an attack at the same time, and finally achieved the goal of encircling and annihilating the 19th Route Army and the 5th Army in the Dachang and Zhenru areas. Looking at the map, I also have to sigh how clear this old devil's thinking is.Once the encirclement circle he conceived becomes a reality, China's Songhu garrison will suffer catastrophe. As for the time of landing, Shirakawa set it on March 1st, which is the second day.Although the schedule has been very tight, he still needs to set aside 1 day for the necessary preparations and camouflage. This trick was used by Ueda in the second temple walk battle, which can be described as a habitual technical move.It is estimated that Teacher Lu has repeatedly taught each of his students this way: If you want to hit someone on the left cheek, you must first convince him that you are going to hit him on the right cheek. The Japanese Navy also received the task.In addition to picking up and dropping off the landing troops at the specified time, they also had to send naval aviation to work for the army for free. There is no way, who told me not to live up to my expectations, since the charge is not good, so I can only do more hard work. These naval air forces did play a role in the successful landing of the Japanese army. In order to convince the Chinese side that the Japanese army would land in Hangzhou Bay, the Japanese planes worked overtime and kept circling over Hangzhou Bay to make things look real. At the same time, they secretly conducted aerial reconnaissance on the river bank and land near Qiyakou. According to the photos taken during the reconnaissance, the army staff selected a more specific landing site and attack route. A big net is being gradually rolled out. February 29 at 4 p.m. In fact, the main force of the Shantongji Division, which had already been on standby at the mouth of the Yangtze River, began to transfer to the ships of the 3rd Fleet and the 1st Mine Squadron under the command of Lieutenant General Houdong Totsutaro (Lu Da 22nd Phase). Due to the calm waters on the river, this process was completed very smoothly. At 10 o'clock in the evening, the night was dark. Ships loaded with army troops went up the river and headed for Qiyakou. In the meantime, they passed the Wusongkou Fort, but the fort was limited by its almost negligible attack capability, and did not respond without knowing the details of the Japanese army. March 1 at 2am. The Japanese warship broke down at Qiyakou berth. Three and a half hours later, the head of the Houdong Division issued a landing order on the cruiser "Naka".The ship then turned on three red lights on the top of the mast as a signal. Within minutes, the landing craft lined up and headed for the shore. Judging from the whole process, the actions of the Japanese army were very covert, and it can be said that they were seamless. But when approaching the shore, it was still discovered by the Chinese defenders. Bai Chuan is very scheming, and others are not fools either. Now that the cover is off, there is no need to reinstall it.The Japanese fleet parked in the river began to cover the shelling, and the fighter planes that cooperated with the operation continued to release smoke bombs downwards. After entering the shallow water area, the Japanese army abandoned the stranded landing boat and waded ashore. To defend Qiyakou, there is only one company of the teaching team. In fact, the Chinese defenders were not completely unaware that the Japanese army might land in Liuhe. The question is, if you don't tell you in advance, do you know where the Japanese army will emerge from Liuhe? Lao Jiang has also been nervously watching the battle in Songhu. After fighting for so many years, he is no layman in military affairs.Regarding the defense of Liuhe, he gave Zhang Zhizhong, commander of the 5th Army, the opinion that at least three regiments should be deployed here. Zhang Zhizhong couldn't laugh or cry.According to his idea, let alone 3 regiments, 3 brigades should be placed.Because Liuhe's cordon along the banks of the Yangtze River stretched for dozens of miles, it was too long, and no matter how many soldiers were sent up, they couldn't see their shadows. The question is where do the soldiers come from? The reinforcements blocked by the Japanese navy on the north bank of the Yangtze River are hopeless in a short time, and it is even more impossible to draw troops from the front line.Since Ueda came to Shanghai, there was almost a big battle every two days, and a small battle every day.Although the Japanese army did not get much cheap, but as the old saying goes, "If you kill a thousand enemies, you will lose 800 of them." All the troops have suffered heavy losses in recent days. Transferred from the 5th Army? After Jiangwan gave up, the temple tour played an important role.At this time, even if a little bit of troops is taken away, it is tantamount to drawing salary from the bottom of the pot for defense. Let the 19th Route Army send troops? Cai Tingkai had no choice but to order the 19th Route Army to withdraw from Jiangwan because of insufficient troops.Besides, without their help, the 5th Army would not be able to support itself in the temple. There were still some reserve teams, but they would only come in handy when cornered, and no one dared to put them prematurely behind the Liuhe River. After thinking about it, Zhang Zhizhong took out the 1st Battalion of the Teaching Corps and part of Feng Yong's Volunteer Army to set up defenses in Liuhe. In all fairness, compared to the raging flames of war and the difficult frontline battlefield where there is a shortage of major generals, being able to send so many people to the rear is considered pretty good. Because of this, we don't have to be surprised that there is only one company in Qiyakou to defend against the enemy. Have no idea. Fighting a division in a row, even if they have the ability to ascend to the sky, so even though the officers and soldiers of the teaching corps fought to the death, and even did not hesitate to fight hand-to-hand with the Japanese army on the beach, they still couldn't stop the latter from rushing ashore like a tide. One hour later, Houdong left the "Naka" and went ashore, indicating that the Japanese landing force had gained a firm foothold at Qiyakou. At 9 a.m. on March 1 in the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), in addition to the main force of the Shantong Temple Division gathered at Qiyakou and waited to move, its vanguard troops had advanced to the vicinity of Liuhe. At about the same time, Ueda, head of the Kanazawa Division, arrived in Jiangwan. The current Kanazawa division has regained its breath. Prior to this, more than 500 supplementary soldiers specially transported to him from Japan had arrived in Shanghai.Of course, this amount of manpower was far from being able to make up for the losses of the Kanazawa Division on the battlefield, but Bai Chuan's appointment brought him good luck.Because along with this old guy, there is also a regiment (the 22nd regiment) of the Shantong Temple Division. This regiment did not go to Qiyakou, Liuhe with the main force of the division, but landed nearby and entered the battle order of the Jinze Division. In addition, the Kurume brigade also received more than 400 supplementary soldiers. For a while, Ueda regained his air as if he had been given a shot of morphine. After bombarding the defenders' positions for more than two hours, Ueda ordered a full-scale attack from Miaoxing to Dachang. On this day, except for the part of the Marine Corps that still participated in the battle, he invested a total of 7 infantry regiments, and it can be said that he used all his breastfeeding strength in front of Bai Chuan. At the same time, taking Jiangwan with ease also freed him up a lot in terms of offense. But both Cai Tingkai and Zhang Zhizhong's attitudes are very clear, if you don't give you face, you won't give face, even if you die. If you want to summarize the battle situation that day, it is four words: heavy losses. This is true on both sides. The first senior Japanese military officer who died in China during the War of Resistance was released on this day.He is the leader of the 7th Infantry Regiment of the Kanazawa Division, Lin Daba Dazuo. Speaking of it, Lin Daba's military career is quite "bitter".Of course, this can also be said to be the common "bitterness" of the entire "Wutian Group" (non-mainland graduates) Japanese soldiers. When every Lu university graduates, he will get a commemorative badge of "Chrysanthemum and Star". Officers from mainland China are called the "Wutian Group". In the Japanese military circles, the "Tianbao Qianzu" is synonymous with the darling of fate. As long as they are not mentally or mentally ill, no matter how capable they are, they can make great progress in their official careers (especially those who came out of the saber group). On the contrary, the "Wutian Group" basically means that the grandma does not love, the uncle does not love, and no matter how powerful they are, few people can become high-ranking officials. Lin Daba is very unfortunate, because he was born in the "Wutian Group". In fact, this brother's ability is still very strong, how strong is it? It is good for ordinary people to get a title of "Tong". For example, the veteran spy Doihara, we all call him "China Tong".However, Lin Daba, as a professional soldier, is "handy" with several skills. This person once studied in Moscow, where he became a "Russian hand".Then, I worked hard to learn Mongolian, and practiced myself as a "Mongolian master".Later, he went to China again, served as a military adviser under Zhang Zuoxiang, and became an authentic "China hand". But although this person is strong, he has a weakness, that is, he gets dizzy as soon as he enters the examination room. In today's words, it is "high ability and low score". When he was in the non-commissioned officer school, his grades were not good, and then he was admitted to the mainland university, but he couldn't pass the exam no matter what. This is really fatal.Without the golden diploma of Lu University, no matter how capable Lin is, he can only watch others flourish. Lin Daba graduated from the 16th period of the Japanese Army Non-commissioned Officer Academy. Many people came out in this issue, among the more famous ones are Neiji Okamura, Tetsuzan Nagata, Kenji Doihara, Seishiro Itagaki, and so on.When Lin Daba exhausted all his efforts and was ecstatic to get the commander's epaulettes, his former classmates or juniors had already been commanders for many years, and they just had to wait for others to replace them with their legs crossed at home. The Major General card will do. Why is the gap between people so big? Generally speaking, during the confrontation between China and Japan, it is relatively rare for the captain of the alliance to personally go into battle and die on the battlefield, unless the entire alliance is finished. But Lin Daba is different from others, he has to risk his life to do it, otherwise there is no hope of being promoted. The battlefield records of the Japanese army at that time clearly recorded that he was shot by the machine gun of the Chinese defenders during the charge and died. Lin Dabayi died, not to mention Ueda, and Japan was also shocked. Before the person died, everyone didn't think he was special. Now that he is dead, those who shed tears, wiped their noses, and said good things, all came. The unfulfilled wishes of the deceased were fully satisfied: not only was he promoted to major general of the army, but he was also dubbed the title of "Military God". In Japan, the one who was honored as the "Military God" earlier was the general Nogi Noki who carried three coffins (one for him and his two sons) to the Japanese-Russian battlefield. With Lin Daba's identity and status, being able to share the "honorary title" with the famous Nogi is really a great honor. Lin Daba's desperate performance naturally won the favor of the Japanese who were fascinated by the Bushido spirit. But at the root, he was nothing more than a victim of the perverted Japanese examination system and factional struggles in the army. At noon that day, another news came. The cruiser "Izumo", the flagship of Japan's 3rd Fleet (the one Nomura was on when he came to Shanghai), was attacked. Surprisingly, neither the 19th Route Army nor the 5th Army completed the attack mission, but a group of masters from the civilian population. The leader of the plan was Hu Juewen, known as the "beautiful bearded man". Before the Songhu War, Hu Juewen was a big boss who opened a machine factory. What is rare is that this businessman not only knows how to count money, but also knows how to worry about the country and the people. The reason why he wanted to grow a big beard was not to imitate Guan Yunchang, but to regard it as "the beard of the War of Resistance". After the war, he organized the people in the machine shop to process and manufacture various weapons such as grenades and mortar shells for the 19th Route Army. Boss Hu's anti-war spirit was very high. Of course, it was not fun to just make grenades in the back. Before long, he thought of a new trick: bombing Japanese ships. At that time, the "Izumo" ship was moored on the Huangpu River, and high-level Japanese army and navy officials often came and went on this ship.Hu Juewen believes that Shirakawa, the commander of Japan's "Shanghai Dispatch Force", must be on it. If the "Izumo" ship is blown up, the Japanese army will have no leader and fall into chaos. But the "Izumo" ship is a large ship, not an ordinary small fishing boat, and it is not easy to move its hand. First of all, what to use to blow it up, you can't throw a grenade or fire a mortar on it, can you?The second is who is sent to bomb, ordinary people definitely can't, because this is the job of an assassin. It is easy to say, but it is actually a rather complicated operation process. Hu Juewen found a group of like-minded people to discuss. In the circle that Hu Juewen found, there are those engaged in industry (providing funds), some engaged in scientific research (providing technology), and some engaged in military industry (providing connections). Therefore, everyone must not underestimate the power of our grassroots family. If we can gather together, we will often be a strong group, not much worse than those experts who just sit and talk. The bomb was quickly found. It was an old shell of a mine in the warehouse of the Shanghai Arsenal. Old, that's ok, the techs can fix it. After re-fuzing, loading explosives, and new wine in old bottles, a large 500-pound sea mine came out. People were also found. Is a professionally trained brave diver. There are big mines and divers, but we still need to plan. The specific arrangement is as follows: Find 40 empty oil barrels, seal them one by one, and connect them together, and the divers will carry out the work underwater. The mine was fixed under one of the oil barrels. Perhaps the Japanese would never have dreamed that under the floating oil barrels that can be seen everywhere on the Huangpu River, there are actually deadly large sea mines hidden! It is a pity that when the action was actually put into practice, due to a time calculation error, the mine was detonated ahead of time before it touched the ship. As a result, the "Izumo" failed to be damaged and sunk.At the same time, Bai Chuan was not on the ship at the time.Prior to this, he had been commanding on the "Myoko" ship. When the mine exploded, he had moved to the Japanese army headquarters at Gongda Spinning Factory. Although the attack on the "Izumo" was very satisfying, no matter whether it was successful or not, from the perspective of military operations, it did not have a great impact on the overall situation of the war. At this time, what the Chinese commanders were really anxious and worried about, apart from the ferocious Japanese troops on the frontal battlefield, was the fact that the main force of the Shantong Temple Division had landed at Qiyakou. They are all Huijiazi, and everyone knows at a glance what the Japanese army will do when they land here. After hearing the news, Zhang Zhizhong, who was in charge of the command of the left wing, reacted quickly and sold everything he could, taking out the general reserve of the left wing army that he had been reluctant to use. Song Xilian's brigade was once again entrusted with an important task. In the teaching plans of most military academies about anti-landing warfare, it is clear that 24 hours after landing is the key to success or failure, that is to say, if you cannot drive the opponent into the sea in the first time, then only you jump the sea. As a senior instructor in Whampoa, Zhang Zhizhong certainly didn't know that he wanted to take advantage of the opportunity that the Shantong Temple division had not gained a firm foothold after landing, and punched them hard so that they could not stay on the shore. Song Xilian, can you still turn the tide like you did when you crossed Yunzaobang by force? But fate finally failed to give him such an opportunity again. Or because of the damn mobility. Liuhe is nearly 60 miles away from where the troops are located, and the fastest way is to transport them by car.But Song Xilian tried his best, but he could only find 11 cars, and only one battalion could be transported in one trip. At this moment, it is useless for you to die in a hurry. Go to 1 battalion first, and the others run forward. Song Xilian personally led the battalion (1st Battalion of the 521st Regiment) to set off first. We left at 11:00 in the morning, and it was already 12:30 to Liuhe, and it took a full hour and a half on the road.In fact, if you drive at normal speed, you can arrive in half an hour. The problem was that they were spotted by Japanese planes when they were approaching Liuhe, so they couldn't travel normally. The Japanese planes strafed and dropped bombs, and the troops had to get out of their vehicles to hide and evacuate. This delay passed in half an hour.To make matters worse, of the 11 cars, 8 were bombed, and only 3 were barely usable. Fortunately, it was finally not far from Liuhe. The 3 vehicles turned around and limped back to pick up the people, while the pioneer battalion continued to run to the destination. In Liuhe, what Song Xilian met was not the teaching corps, but Feng Yongyi's army. At that time, there were many people's volunteers who came to Shanghai to participate in the war. The most influential ones were the Nanjing Central University Volunteer Corps (later thought the name was not loud enough, so it was renamed the Jagged Corps), and the Overseas Chinese Salvation Volunteer Army (as the name suggests, it is composed of patriotic overseas Chinese), which are not well-known. But the ridiculously named Tianjin Skeleton Regiment (if you can't kill you, scare you to death), the First Division of the First Army of the Chinese National Salvation Army (even more high-profile than the 19th Route Army and the 5th Army that actually fought). Among all the volunteers from other places, Feng Yong's volunteers feel the deepest when it comes to national hatred and family hatred. Because they are college students from Northeast China who came into exile in the pass singing "My home is on the Songhua River in Northeast China" all the way. The full name of Fengyong Volunteer Army is Fengyong University Volunteer Army.Fengyong University is the first Western-style university in China, and it has a very attractive place, that is, it is completely free. The founders of the school, Feng Yong and Zhang Xueliang, were sworn brothers. Although they were not born on the same day and the same month, they were born in the same year, and their relationship is very good.Feng Yong advocated education to save the country, and he paid attention to military training for students.People in Shenyang at that time even compared Fengyong University with Dong Daying and Bei Daying, and called it "Xi Daying". However, a "September 18th Incident" changed the fate of almost all Northeast people. The same is true of Fengyong University. They did not want to live under the Japanese rule, so everyone from the principal (Feng Yong himself) to the students withdrew into the customs and formed a volunteer army, vowing to drive the Japanese out of the Northeast hometown. Their main duty is to monitor enemy ships along the Yangtze River, but unexpectedly, the rear now becomes the front line in the blink of an eye. Considering that these students could only make unnecessary sacrifices if they stayed here, Song Xilian ordered them to move to a safe area behind immediately after asking them about Liuhe's situation. Chinese readers, you are not soldiers yet, you should continue to live and leave a little hope for the future of this country and this nation. For Song Xilian, it was too late to go to Qiyakou to stop the Japanese army from landing. All he could do now was to keep Liuhe. There is a place that is the only way for the Japanese army. It is Qianjing Camp at the west end of Liuhe River. The 1st Battalion of the 521st Regiment immediately marched there.Unexpectedly, the Japanese army came even earlier. As soon as they met, without further ado, the two sides first came to a meeting ceremony-hand-to-hand combat. Here, Song Xilian finally saw the 1st Battalion of the Teaching Corps under his command. They were all in the 1st Battalion. Song Xilian's troops were on the left wing, and the teaching corps was on the right wing, launching a counterattack against the Japanese army. But in terms of numbers and strength, Song Xilian was already at a disadvantage, and this disadvantage continued to expand: as the Japanese landing troops continued to land, they could continue to receive reinforcements, but the Chinese army was slow to come. It turned out that the cars were all blown up at this time, and everyone could only run forward. Walking on two legs, you have to guard against the bombing of the planes above, of course it is slow ("more than 20 enemy planes cover the sky, all flying at low altitudes, throwing bombs like rain"). At 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the 2nd Battalion of the 521st Regiment arrived. At 6 o'clock, the 3rd Battalion also arrived panting. It is a pity that the Japanese army had already occupied the Qianjing camp at this time. Song Xilian originally wanted to wait for another regiment (522 regiment) to arrive, and launch a counterattack at night to take back the Qianjing camp, but he couldn't wait for the autumn water, and it was already 11 o'clock in the middle of the night, and he still didn't even see a shadow. Anyone with a clear mind should understand that it is only a matter of time before Liuhe is lost. Once the Liuhe River is lost, the Shantong Temple Division will inevitably go south from the left side, echoing the Jinze Division in the front, forming a roundabout encirclement. On the other hand, after the Kanazawa Division's frenzied attack at all costs for a day, many defensive lines of the defenders were broken through, and it was already powerless to counterattack. What to do next? This is a grim time to test the supreme commander in the field. Where to go, how many people's lives and deaths are all in the judgment and choice of one person. Cai Tingkai, you must make a decision as soon as possible. The first is judgment: in this round, China lost. The second is a decision: rather a small defeat than a big defeat. Sometimes, fighting a war is like speculating in stocks. If you see that the situation is not good and you still hold on to the stocks tightly and refuse to sell them, you may suffer even greater losses.Conversely, if you have the sobriety and courage to admit that you are unlucky, if you fall, you will fall, and if you can throw it away, you may still have a little capital left. There will be more opportunities to collect firewood in the future, as long as you can keep the green hills. Get back as soon as possible. The destination is the second line of defense - the Jiading and Huangdu lines of defense. But retreat is an art, even a more complicated art than offense. Just like attacking left and right, Cai Tingkai must also make a bigger momentum than attacking before retreating. The method he used was to fight the Japanese army to the end as if desperately, like crazy. Until the afternoon of March 1, the Japanese army did not see the slightest sign that the Chinese troops were about to retreat.Because the battle has reached a fever pitch. On the temple line battlefield, Cai Tingkai sent up all the reserve teams that could be sent to the field, and he himself was sent to charge with a gun. That posture not only wanted to keep his own position, but also seemed to make him spit out the share that Ueda had already put in his mouth. In just one battle for the Bazi Bridge, the defenders lost three and won three, and more than 300 people below the deputy of the 19th Army Battalion died on the spot. The Jinze Division couldn't get anything good either, not counting the countless casualties, and 3 tanks alone were destroyed. When the soldiers meet, the two sides are even more red-eyed, and greet each other directly with bayonets. Anyway, if you shoot me, I will stab you. Pillows"). Ueda was overwhelmed when he met such a desperate opponent.By the afternoon, he didn't have any reserves at hand. After 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the Kanazawa division's vigor was completely lost, and it was unable to launch a major offensive. Cai Tingkai's desperation created an illusion for Bai Chuan, an old fox. He believed that not only would the Chinese defenders not withdraw their troops, but they would continue to struggle on the front line of the Temple Walk. That being the case, don't worry, with their strength, Liuhe will be mine sooner or later. At 6 o'clock in the evening, he issued an order to let the masters of Shantong Temple eat and rest, and regain their energy tomorrow before taking down Liuhe in one fell swoop. At 9 o'clock in the evening, the Kanazawa Division was also required to sleep, rest, and make Ueda ready. When attacking the next day, Cai Tingkai must be held back to prevent him from sending more troops to Liuhe. At the same time, all units of the 19th Route Army and the 5th Army received orders from the general headquarters: the whole army retreated westward. The left-wing army withdrew to Jiading, and the right-wing army withdrew to Huangdu. Under the cover of night, the troops retreated in an orderly manner. When retreating, one or two regiments are left behind for security cover. Before dawn on March 2, almost all troops had withdrawn to the second line of defense. The Jinze Division fought for a whole day and was so exhausted that they slept really well at night. They never thought that the Chinese army would move. Woke up sleepily the next day, not feeling right. At this time of day, everyone would have to do radio gymnastics and greet each other with gunshots. Why is the dawn so quiet today? I sent someone to take a look, and they all ran away, and there was no one there. Both Shirakawa and Ueda were almost stunned. If I had known that the Chinese army was at the end of its strength, why would I have slept, but I had hugged them all last night. This is good, I have to find them again. The point is, I can't afford to waste this time. Today is March 2, and the day after tomorrow is March 4! However, until March 2, the Chinese army was not able to withdraw from the first line of defense, and the Wusong Fortress still had defenders. Wusong has now become a front-line bulge, and is in danger of being swallowed up by the Japanese army at any time. The hearts of the commanders tightened. Since coming to Wusong, he has been bombarded by planes and ships every day, but the guard Weng Zhaoyuan has never retreated, so that the Japanese can't find any loopholes. As a result, Wusong Fortress became one of the most troublesome places for the Japanese army: like a hedgehog, it looks inconspicuous, but it can stab you suddenly, and you want to swallow it, but you can't. So, why? Now the Chinese army mainly uses infantry to defend positions in Wusong, and uses the remaining artillery to surprise enemy ships. This method of tactics has been used many times, and the Japanese army is already familiar with it. Once you are familiar with it, there will be no secrets at all, which means that the difficulty of defense will increase exponentially. Weng Zhaoyuan felt more and more that soldiers were not enough. He knew that it was impossible for the general headquarters to send him any more reinforcements. The main position had been fighting several times a day, and the smoke of gunpowder had hardly stopped, and they were still short of manpower. But reinforcements came as soon as they were said. The identity of these support soldiers is very special, and they are actually of the same nature as the Feng Yong Volunteer Army. The difference is that they are local Shanghai products, and their full name is called the Shanghai Citizen Volunteer Army. who is it? noon. hit!
