Wu Mi and Chen Yinke met in the United States. When Wu Mi was studying in the United States, he, Chen Yinke and Tang Yongtong were called the "Three Masters of Harvard".As one of the three heroes, Wu Mi highly praised Chen Yinke's knowledge and character, praised him as a dragon among men, and treated him as a teacher all his life. On March 2, 1919, Wu Mi, who was studying at Harvard, was invited by the Chinese Student Union to give a speech on "A New Talk on a Dream of Red Mansions".Chen Yinke, who had just entered Harvard University for a month, and his cousin Yu Dawei went to listen to Wu Mi's speech together. Chen was deeply impressed by Wu Mi's talent and learning, and soon wrote "A New Talk of a Dream of Red Mansions" as a gift, and the poem said:

Wu Mi was very excited when he first got Chen Yinke's poems and essays. He wrote in his diary: "Chen Jun is profound in knowledge and insightful, far beyond the reach of his peers. He has a cheerful temperament, noble aspirations and deeds, and deeply admires him. I am overwhelmed. I am very proud to have this new friend." During the communication with Chen Yinke, Wu Mi was quickly impressed by Chen's erudition.Wu Mi found that Chen Yinke knew everything, even knew how prostitutes in Paris worked.Wu Mi admired Chen Pei very much. He said in "Kongxuan Poetry Talk": "Shi Mi met Chen Yinke at Harvard University in the United States in the eighth year of the Republic of China. It is said that "combining all kinds of Chinese and Western knowledge, old and new, I will definitely regard Yin Ke as the most knowledgeable person in China". Today, I have read it for fifteen or six years, traveled to three continents, and made friends with people in the world. I still insist on this I like to say that everyone agrees with me. Although Yin Ke is my friend, he is my teacher, that is, in poetry, so many people have been enlightened over the years, and I can’t remember them all.”

With the encouragement and help of Chen Yinke, Wu Mi's studies improved day by day, especially the study of "Red Studies" opened up a new way, and he eventually became a master of the generation. For this, Wu Mi was grateful all his life and mentioned it many times. Many years later, Wu Mi still said with emotion: "At the end of January and early February of 1919, Mr. Chen Yinke came to the United States from Europe. He first lived in Mt. Auburn Street in Cambridge District and was met by Mr. Yu Dawei. Later, Mi Heng visited Listen to his talks. Ze Yinke is not only knowledgeable, but also deeply understands the inside story of Chinese and Western politics and society... He has enlightened and taught Mi in Chinese literature, history and poetry over the years, and there are too many to remember."

In 1944, Wu Mi left Kunming to spend his annual vacation in Chengdu. The purpose of his trip was to visit his good friend Chen Yinke who taught at Yenching University in Chengdu, and get along with Chen Zhaoxi.Afterwards, Wu Mi stayed at Yenching University to teach and became colleagues with Chen Yinke. In 1961, Wu Mi visited Chen Yinke from Sichuan to Guangzhou. It was the rainy season at that time, and when Chen Yinke heard the news that Wu Mi was about to visit, he felt mixed feelings. He wrote a letter in advance, telling Wu Mi tirelessly how to line up for a tricycle when he arrived in Guangzhou, how to change cars, and how many food stamps he should bring with him.And specifically asked, Guangzhou is very cold at night, so pay attention, etc., and take care of everything.

In August of this year, Wu Mi stumbled all the way, and finally arrived at Chen Yinke's residence on the campus of Sun Yat-sen University at 12 o'clock at night. When he entered, he saw that Chen Yinke "couldn't see anything in both eyes, and his hair was very little, but his front was bald and his eyebrows were bald. Shaped into a figure eight", but insisted not to rest, but to wait for "Brother Rain Monk" in the living room.Seeing this scene, Wu Mi was filled with emotions.Wu Mi only stayed in Guangzhou for five days. When he parted, Chen Yinke was afraid that he would not have enough travel expenses, so he gave him some money and wrote a poem as a gift from the prime minister: "Ask the disease, rather than leave Shu, the road is difficult, and when we meet, we shake hands and cry. We meet in old age. It's not easy, and it should be seen as parting from life and death." The consequences are gone.

In 1971, Wu Mi, who had a broken leg and was criticized to the point of mental breakdown, was under tremendous political pressure, and regardless of his own situation, wrote a letter to the "Revolutionary Committee" of Sun Yat-sen University, inquiring about the largest "reactionary academic authority" of Sun Yat-sen University. Regarding the whereabouts of Chen Yinke, the letter said: "There are many friends and students of Mi and Mr. Chen Yinke here. They care about and miss Mr. Chen very much. They are eager to know the exact news, and want to correspond with his wife, Ms. Tang Zhiying, and inquire about everything in detail." Once the letter was gone, it was like a sea, which made Wu Mi worry about it in vain. However, Wu Mi didn't know at all that Chen Yinke and Tang Yuan had passed away two years ago in grief and indignation.
