Chapter 6 After "literary tune" may be children's tune and sissy tune

"Literary tune" certainly does not refer to the literary tune in "Poetry Magazine", "Selected Novels" and "New Plays" - those places are afraid that it is not "literary tune".What we are talking about is the "literary tune" outside the field of literature and art, especially the "literary tune" in social awareness and political mobilization.First of all, it must be admitted that even in these fields, "Literary Tune" has its place.Public intellectuals in the pre-Qin period, Confucianism, Legalism, Taoism, Mohism, and Yin-Yang Schools, when inspiring princes and offering advice and suggestions, there was no school that did not have a literary accent.King Luo Bin wrote the crusade against Wu Zetian because of its good literature and art, and it is said that Wu Zetian would benefit from reading it; Anti-Party".I remember the first time we went to work in the countryside when we were in middle school. We went to Dongbeiwang Nursery with our backpacks on our backs. So as soon as we got out of Xizhimen, a teacher named Sun Qiang started to stand on the side of the road and play allegro: Students, look ahead, Dongbeiwang is ahead, make up your mind to overcome all difficulties, and victory is in front of us!We walked for another two hours and still heard him chirping on the side of the road, "Dongbeiwang is ahead."So the classmate also said: The red sun is warm, shining on my ragged clothes, the surname Sun is three generations younger than others, and the surname son is stronger than the surname Sun!With such a "literary tune", I really don't feel tired. That Teacher Sun has passed away for many years, think about it, he is really a good teacher.

"Literary tune" of course refers to literary expressions, but I don't think this problem is actually too big, or it can be said that it is not a big problem, it is nothing more than exaggeration and more metaphors.Martin Luther King said: Didn't the Bank of America write a check for "everyone is equal"?We niggers brought the check today, if the Bank of America is not closed, please cash us.If Martin Luther King Jr. did not use those vivid and powerful metaphors, and did not use the parallel sentences that one wave is higher than the other, but came to a "keynote speech" in "On the Path Dependence of the Empowerment of Black Ethnic Groups", I reckon that he might still be alive by now (his sister seems to be still alive), why are they killing him! The problem with "Literary Tune" is not (at least not mainly) in expression, but mainly in the literary understanding of social issues. If the Development Research Center of the State Council is not scientific, logical, factual, and evidence-based in its understanding of social and political processes, and is as mindless and elusive as Sister Lihua and the others, then the problem will be serious.

The cultural elites of the 1980s were indeed quite "literary and artistic" in their understanding of social history. This is also understandable. On the one hand, the traditional socialist building before the reform was dangling, and it seemed that it was going to die.Running outside is a relatively simple matter. I don’t have that much knowledge. Of course, I can use social statistics, regression analysis, and structural functions if I have to use them, but it doesn’t matter if I don’t need them.On the other hand, after ten years of the "Cultural Revolution" and going to the countryside, the vast majority of the new generation of elites have a stomach full of high-end and low-end only "A Pair of Embroidered Shoes" and "Memoirs of Manna". It's hard to be literary or not.

It’s interesting to say that the first ones who don’t want to be literary are the young and middle-aged people. They probably see China as “the sun, menstruation, and sky” when viewed horizontally, and “the land of rivers and rivers” when viewed vertically. It was proposed that "literature should be learned".Literary and artistic works at that time liked to embellish some "theorems" and "effects".I can’t remember which magazine I read a novel at that time. It was full of letters, symbols, and formulas. If you blocked the other parts, you would think you were reading Science Bulletin or something.Probably in the mid-1980s, I read a news in the newspaper, saying that the research first introduced the method of "mathematical analysis". Later, I really read that article, and it was nothing more than paying tribute to the little wife of Jia's mansion and Wutou village. It’s just a simple statistic for the New Year’s goods.Their knowledge structure is just like that, so the transformation can only be superficial and decorative, and their understanding is basically "literary and artistic".Let’s just talk about Wang Meng, who advocates “culturalization of literature”. When you read his works in the 1980s, you feel that you are facing an older literary youth; Literary boy.Nevertheless, the most lively group of people in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s were from literary or quasi-literary backgrounds, and their understanding of Chinese issues was full of romanticism and lyricism. In terms of social vision and political mobilization, this was exactly the same as the utopian capitalist road in the general social psychology of China at that time, and it did not bring change.I remember when Deng Xiaoping talked about the reorganization of the army in the late period of the "Cultural Revolution", he said that in the war years, one waved the shelling gun and "charged"-the problem was solved. The elites in the 1980s had the same understanding of China's issues, so privatization, go ahead!Of course people like Su Xiaokang and Liu Zaifu are the best at shouting "Chong!"

After the 1990s, marketization was in full swing. Educational industrialization, medical industrialization, reform of state-owned enterprises, layoffs and diversion, and reduction of staff to increase efficiency were all rampant, but they had indeed passed the stage of shouting "Go!"Writers either went to cool off, or directly joined the stormtroopers. In short, although the "Literary Tune" cannot be said to have disappeared since then, it has at least been an octave lower. At this time, the economist standing in front of the microphone is talking about North, Coase, Pareto optimality, and diminishing marginal benefits. In the past, listening to these things must not be more interesting than listening to the money counters work, but now everyone is listening.I remember that in the mid-1990s, I once talked about the economic situation with my old friend Shen Lin (whose stomach is nothing but food) about the economic situation. After the chat, he sighed and said that now everyone cares about economics. It's about everyone's wallets and deposits, can everyone not care! There are quite a few amateur economists and macroeconomists trained in the stock market and housing market over the years.Interestingly, many scholars who used to focus on literature and art as their research objects have also changed their careers and changed jobs to study economics, political science, and political economics. There are quite a few scholars like this in the New Left. Liberals once ridiculed them for being too literary. In fact, they really didn’t have a place to stick to. What they got was a literary background that the New Left tried hard to abandon.Frankly speaking, the approach of the New Left is similar to that of Wang Meng’s group of literati in the 1980s, but there is also a big difference. They are indeed trying to understand China and the world from the perspective of social science. As for the effect of their efforts However, I think Sun Yat-sen's last words are more applicable: the revolution has not yet succeeded, and comrades still need to work hard.I forgot that Mr. Zhu Xueqin was referring to a New Left scholar who used punctuation marks to express his ideas, but in fact Zhu's words are more literary. To be honest, the intellectual history he is engaged in is no more "scientific" than literature. The old saying that "literature and history are not distinguished" is true. There is also philosophy—of course I do not mean analytic philosophy, philosophy of science, etc.—sometimes more literary than literature, and even more romantic. The understanding of Chinese issues in the mainstream ideological circles is still basically at the stage of "rushing" in the 1980s. For the "champing" stage, the "literary accent" in both expression and understanding is sufficient.

If the development of Chinese society can steadily move towards maturity, ordinary people's understanding of social issues should gradually drift away from the "literary tune".Rational discussion should become the mainstream of social thinking and political mobilization and participation. At that time, ordinary people will not send text messages to make up jokes, but will take their laptops to the Great Hall of the People and the CPPCC Auditorium to analyze and discuss where the 4 trillion yuan comes from, where it passes, and where it goes. Always wanted to retire early. This is of course an ideal trend. Given the current chaos in the world, it's hard to explain today, and it's hard to say tomorrow. Who can say for sure what the tone will be in the future?Maybe childish and sissy are popular?Maybe they will come to sing directly-singing "National Anthem" and "Internationale", maybe it is.
