Zhidan is a magical and thick place! General Liu Zhidan, a mass leader and national hero, was born in Jintang Town here. He was full of lofty ideals in his youth and stepped into the torrent of revolution step by step.After graduating from the Whampoa Military Academy, he resolutely participated in the Northern Expedition. Later, he and other comrades led the Weihua Uprising. He established the Shaanxi-Gansu Border Red Base, and then commanded the Shaanxi-Gansu Border Red Army and the Northern Shaanxi Red Army to fight bravely, connecting the two bases into one, and became the only remaining red Soviet area in the country at that time. Chased and intercepted, rushed to the Shaanxi-Gansu Soviet Area, and walked into Wuqi Town, Baoan County at that time, and Haoqi Town became the foothold of the Central Red Army.

In June 1936, in order to commemorate General Liu Zhidan who died on the front line of the Eastern Expedition, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China renamed his hometown Baoan County as Zhidan County.In July of the same year, the Party Central Committee and the Chinese Soviet Central Government chose Zhidan as the capital.Zhidan is the second red capital of the Chinese revolution after Ruijin in Jiangxi.
