"嗯，是这个道理。"袁世凯呆痴的双眼闪了一下光。略一沉思，他又说："你的话说得好，还是先用震慑的办法，以办成事为目的。动干戈不是上策。" "我马上到会场去看看，把你的话告诉王议长。" 深夜10时，陆建章、吴炳湘领着"公民团"的头头们，兴致勃勃地跑进中南海，刚刚望见居仁堂的房影，便齐声疾呼："大总统万岁!大总统万岁!" 已经焦急得半死不活的袁世凯，听得院外有人欢呼，知道大事已如愿，立即转忧为喜，来了精神，又像冲足了气的球，"腾--"地跳起，双手推开屋门，大踏弗泖了小桌。 一忽儿，中南海里所有的楼阁厅榭亭台，所有有灯的地方，灯火齐明，处处辉煌；所有在这片地方的男女都被叫醒了，大家欢呼着向居仁堂走去!居仁堂顿时一片欢腾!同时，居仁堂和这里所有有炉灶的地方都生起了火，大大小小的餐厅全都布排了八仙桌，安定太师椅，摆设上最著名的陶瓷炊具--一场欢乐的夜宴开始了。要知道，中南海在这一天，从早8点起业经断了炊烟，谁也进不去水米。现在，大总统选定了，他们都感到饿了，早有人呼"饭"去了。 six 六一夜东风紧，天明万树花!中南海的金秋由浓变淡了。当一夜的狂欢渡过之后，朝阳送来的，却是一派盎然春色! 袁世凯把他的妻、妾、子、女，老伙、老干们通通召到居仁堂的大厅里，正儿八经亲口宣他成为"正式总统"了，"要和大家一起欢庆，所有的人不分高下，都是家人，务必尽欢!" 袁世凯来到于氏夫人面前，面对那位满面皱纹，头有霜发的发妻，不知是忽然良心发现，产生了内疚，还是因为即了大位、大喜过望?竟然洒出口，把几十年如一日，偶尔相见时只说的一句"太太，你好!"也更新了内容："太太，慰庭亏待你了，对不住你。"比袁世凯大两岁；却比袁世凯见老十岁的于氏，含着丙艮，想起了几十年的"活寡"岁月，但却强作笑颜地说："今天是大人的大喜，是咱全家人的大喜，我向大人道喜!"一句戏言、同床异梦三十余年的夫妻，总算在忧伤之外，又添了一抹情思! 袁世凯来到大姨太沈氏面前，朝着这个曾经对他拔刀相助，扶他渡过难关的女子深深鞠躬，但却一言不出，只给她一幅带着歉意的笑脸。沈氏莞尔一笑，还了他一个示意性的"万福"，然后说："恭禧大人，贺禧大人!" 当袁世凯与其他家人点首示意之后来到大儿子克定面前时，他停下脚步，仿佛有许多话要对他说。但是，他只轻轻地叹了声气，然后拍了拍他的肩，便离去了...... 10月10日，中华民国的第二个国庆日。袁世凯将在这一天。在前清皇帝登基以及元旦诞辰受百官朝贺的太和殿正式就任中华民国大总统之职。 太和殿是故宫三大殿之一，为外朝前殿。始建于明永乐8年(1420年)，初名奉天殿，嘉靖41年(1562年)改名皇极殿；清顺治2年(1645年)改叫太和殿，俗称金銮殿。殿建筑于三层汉白玉台基之上，四周皆有石护栏。面阔11间，进深5间，殿内有沥粉金漆柱和蟠龙藻井，金漆雕龙宝座。是封建皇权的象征。袁世凯在这样的地方就职，显然是含有代清受命的意思。 这一天，太和殿中，洒扫清洁，布置整齐，陈设华丽。有戴全金线军盔、着蓝色制服、佩带军刀的卫士320人分两排站列在殿中。形成一个警卫胡同。参加大礼的官员有参众两院议长、议员和简任以上、上校以上文武官员，还有各国公使，清室代表贝子溥伦以及蒙族代表、在野官僚、名流士绅、金融、报界人物。 10时将至，先来了四人抬的彩舆四座。走下来的四位是：总统府秘书长梁士诒，秘书夏寿田，皆着燕尾服；侍从武官长荫昌，军事处参议代理处长唐在礼，皆着钻蓝色军礼服，戴叠羽帽，佩参谋带。最后是袁世凯乘的八人抬彩轿。 袁世凯从轿里出来，着一身金线装饰的、也是钴蓝色的陆海军大元帅礼服，神情略有呆滞。下轿后即由梁士诒等四人拥护前行，登上主席台，面南而座。肃穆的大殿中有人窃窃："大总统怎么着元帅服?难道是军政府？" "袁即靠练兵起家，当然是军政府了!" 大礼官黄开文见一切准备就绪，即命赞礼官程克赞礼。无非是说些吉祥、热烈的言语，宣布"袁世凯当中华民国大总统了"!按照事前的"导演"，袁世凯知道是该自己出场的时候了，便站起身来．面向议长、议员席，拿出一张事先别人代拟的"誓词"词稿，故意沉默一下，而后宣誓： 余誓以至诚，谨守宪法，执行中华民国大总统之职务。 誓毕，袁世凯向各方鞠躬。 旁列众人随之高呼："万岁，万岁!" 袁世凯微笑点头。 大礼官又将长篇宣言递袁，袁重新起立，宣誓。无非是些民国好，国运昌，他以后如何忠于职守，带领国民建好国家之类的词调，没多少新鲜玩艺；几句许诺，也是空空洞洞。他虽然振振有词的朗读，听者却提不起神。宣言读完了，大礼也就完成了。秘书长梁士诒这才陪着袁世凯去召见各国公使。 对于袁世凯的这个民国，最初，各国均抱观望态度，只有美洲少数国家表现友好；美洲之外的国家，多在彷徨却顾，不肯承认。自从国会通过，又确定择期就职大仪，于是，才有欧洲国家匆匆致中国外交部照会，"承认中华民国，愿敦睦谊"。因此，参加总统就职的外国使节便有：俄、法、英、德、奥、意、日、比、丹、葡、荷、瑞、挪等国。袁世凯十分高兴，这证明他再三论断的"民国有了正式总统，各国才肯承认"的鬼话是"真理"。 召见完了外国公使，又忙着召见清皇室代表，贝子溥伦是袁世凯的老熟人了。因为他是皇室显贵，昔日袁世凯总是仰脸相对他。今天，他虽然当了大总统了，仍觉这贝子的身份不一般，还是厚待他，拱手、打躬、问候，并且将早已拟就藏在身上的给大清宣统皇帝的一封信从衣袋中取出，一边递给溥伦，一边说："请阁下代我向皇帝陛下致意。"溥伦接过信，也不伦不类地叫了一声"万岁!"但是，心中却在嘀咕："袁世凯把我大清王朝灭了，他当了大总统，今天又致信给皇上，这是什么意思?"袁世凯离开他们之后，他便偷偷地打开，却见上边写着： 大清皇帝陛下： 中华民国大总统谨致书大清皇帝陛下，兹于宣统3年12月25 日奉大清隆裕皇太后懿旨，将统治权公诸全国，定为共和立宪政体，命袁世凯以全权组织临时共和政府，含汉满蒙藏回五族完全领土为一大中华民族!旋经国民公举为中华民国临时大总统。受命以来，两稔于兹，深虞陨越。今幸内乱已平，大局安定，于中华民国2年10月6日经国民公举为正式大总统。国权实行统一，友邦皆已承认，于是年10月10日受任。凡我五族人民皆有进于之明，跻于太平之希望。此皆仰荷大清隆裕皇太后暨大清皇帝天下为公、唐虞揖让之盛轨而克臻此。我五族人民感戴兹德，如日月之照临，山河之涵育，久而弥昭，远而弥挚。维有薰督国民，革新郅治，恪守优待条件，使民国巩固，五族协和，庶有以慰大清隆裕皇太后在天之灵。用特报告，并祝万福。 中华民国年月日袁世凯 溥伦把信原封藏好，心里暗自嘀咕："袁世凯究竟是不是曹操?" 下午，又在天安门广场举行了盛大的阅兵式。 袁世凯终于当上了中华民国正儿八经的大总统。
