Chapter 7 Chapter 7 Building Ancestral Halls in Xuzhou

du8.com copyright The Xuzhou Jiangsu Provincial Seventh Normal School, which had just been built for a year, was originally revered as the highest institution in Xushu County, but in the spring of this year (1914), it suddenly became the most terrifying place in the area. The respected teacher Zhou Xiangjun was captured by Zhang Xun's law enforcement battalion; Zhang Xun also sent a large number of braided soldiers to surround the school. Why? No one can tell. "Teacher Zhou is Song Yunzi's student, Song Yunzi is Zhang Xun's staff, Zhang Xun won't arrest him!?" People are so kind, Mr. Zhou was betrayed by Song Yunzi——

Song Yunzi walked into the Xuzhou Provincial Seventh Normal School as a scholar and gave lectures. He has a foundation of Jinshi, an old-fashioned, modest face and good eloquence. People naturally feel that he has an extra layer of integrity and Confucianism. Qi, but also with admiration. One day, Song Yunzi explained to the teachers Li Yu's "Meeting and Huan Lin Hua Xie Chunhong" written by Li Yu, the empress of the Southern Tang Dynasty. His country was destroyed and his family was destroyed because of the blow of external forces, and then he expressed his hatred for the invasion of the Eight-Power Allied Forces. The listeners were all moved by the awe-inspiring atmosphere of this frustrated Jinshi. After the lecture, Zhou Xiangjun visited him with reverence.

"Mr. Song, I admire your great knowledge very much, and I really want to get your correction." After speaking, he took out his latest poems and asked Song Yunzi for advice. ——Zhou Xiangjun, also known as Zhou Zhongmu, self-proclaimed Gengsheng, a native of Suining, Jiangsu, and a Gongsheng in Qing Dynasty. He used to give lectures at Zhaoyi Academy in the county, and he had quite unique views on opposing feudal ethics. In 1909, he went to Shanghai to join the Institute of Constitutional Government, where he met Liu Yazi, Gao Chunjian and other famous people, and then joined Nanshe. In 1910, he was promoted by the government of 8 counties under Xu to the Nanjing Academic Affairs Office as a councilor. After the Revolution of 1911, he saw Qing Admiral Zhang Xun stubbornly preparing for war and fighting against the civilian army in Nanjing, so he ventured out and came to Zhenjiang, and wrote to Zhenjiang Governor Lin Qingda and Zhenjiang First Town Commander Bai Wenwei, explaining the dangers of Nanjing and his own views : "If one day does not enter our territory, the upper and lower reaches of the Yangtze River will not be able to unite as one, and the division of the Northern Expedition will have no time."Ask them to immediately "recruit heavy troops and directly expose Jinling".With the approval of Lin and Bai, Zhou was hired as an adviser to the First Town Army. After the failure of Zhang Xun's second revolution, Zhou Xiangjun returned to Xuzhou.Seeing that Song Yunzi still has the backbone of a Chinese, he took him as a confidant, worshiped him as a teacher, and sent poems for advice.

Song Yunzi took Zhou Xiangjun's poems and looked them over carefully. He suddenly found these two poems: The world is competing for the Liberty Bell, and equality between men and women is the most important thing; try to open your eyes on the stage, but you should also be lazy to embellish your old appearance. As soon as I heard about Zhu Huazheng's women's rights, I made an appointment with my sisters to start the whip; this trip will slowly produce hatred, and I will wait for thousands of lotuses in the mud. When Song Yunzi saw this poem, he felt like a treasure. "Perfectly revolutionary! Revolutionary

The Party is in the Seventh Normal School!" But he still said calmly: "Good poetry, good poetry.Good poems and good words all the time should be in the realm of self, see things with me, and the old things are all colored by me! In the realm of no self, observe things with things, so I don’t know what is me and what is the thing. "With that, he returned the poem to Zhou Xiangjun. Saying goodbye to Zhou Xiangjun, Song Yunzi hurried back to the Daotai yamen, got into the secret room, and reported to Zhang Xun in this way. Zhang Xun was surprised and delighted: "There really is a revolutionary party in Xuzhou? The revolutionary party is in the Seventh Normal School School? That’s Zhou Xiangjun?”

Song Yunzi repeatedly agreed, "Yes, yes, yes." "Did you bring the poem?" Zhang Xun asked again. "No." Song Yunzi shook her head. "There's nothing to say..." "I can't startle the snake!" Song Yunzi was indeed a treacherous and slippery person. "If I bring the poem back, Zhou Xiangjun won't doubt it; if he doubts it, why don't he run away! If people run away, where can we catch the rebellious party?" He said again: "Now send someone to arrest Zhou Xiangjun. He has been caught , are you afraid that there will be no poems and no proofs?"

"Yes, yes, yes!" Zhang Xun immediately sent someone to arrest Zhou Xiangjun, and then copied Zhou Xiangjun's residence. The braided army captured Zhou Xiangjun and copied all of Zhou Xiangjun's poems.Zhang Xun was very happy. On the one hand, he sent someone to find out who Zhou Xiangjun was, and on the other hand, he asked Song Yunzi to analyze Zhou Xiangjun's poem "Where is the bad?" "Numbered" - the Chinese language is very wonderful. Often the benevolent sees the benevolent and the benevolent is right, and the wise see the wise and the wise are also right. If you attach great power, even if you have a lot of knowledge, don't try to argue. This is what the saying goes: If you want to commit a crime, there is nothing to worry about!

Just when Zhang Xun was about to dispose of Zhou Xiangjun and eliminate the "rebellious party", a powerful wave of "saving Zhou Xiangjun" was set off in Xuzhou.First, people from all walks of life gathered and petitioned, and then they marched and protested. The gentlemen and wealthy businessmen in the city also sent representatives to the Yamen to intercede. For a time, the hearts of the urban and rural people in Xuzhou were boiling, and the voices shook the sky! Zhang Xun was surprised: "Why does a small teacher have such a big influence?" He couldn't understand. He knew that a man of his size did not yet have such a reputation. He wanted to "follow people's wishes" and let Zhou Xiangjun go in exchange for people's hearts. He heard people say that the teacher of Emperor Guangxu once said a very important sentence to the emperor: "He who wins the hearts of the people wins the world, and those who lose the hearts of the people lose the world!" "I, Zhang Xun, want to take root in Xuzhou. Heart!" As soon as he wanted to let Zhou Xiangjun go, he suddenly thought of the Revolutionary Party; when he thought of the Revolutionary Party, he thought of the Qing Dynasty, and thought of his master... "I can't let go! There must be no tolerance for the Revolutionary Party."

du8.com copyright At this moment, Xu Shuzheng, the current Secretary-General of the State Council in Beijing and Deputy Minister of the Army Department, sent an urgent letter stating that Zhou Xiangjun was not a bad person, but his friend and a talented person. Xu Shuzheng, a hot figure, Duan Qirui's confidant, a resourceful "little fan", even Yuan Shikai respected him three points and feared him three points.Zhang Xun had long wanted to curry favor with him, but he had nowhere to go.Now that Xu Shuzheng came to the door, Zhang Xun naturally should give him face. However, Zhang Xun hated the Revolutionary Party so much that he wished he could kill it all. Now, he had to think twice about Zhou Xiangjun. "Sure enough, he changed his ways and turned to the right, and he was used by me. Naturally, I will be lenient to him. If he is stubborn to the end, I can't spare him."

In the tide of scrambling for power and profit, the life of a literati is worthless, especially those who have backbone, insight, and unconventional literati. After several days of preparation, Zhang Xun decided to personally interrogate Zhou Xiangjun and "treat each other with courtesy". On that day, the scorching sun of early summer had just entered the Daotai Yamen in Xuzhou, Zhang Xun ordered someone to "invite" Zhou Xiangjun out of the prison, and invited him to the living room where there was no murderous look but there was fragrant tea for guests.Accompanying Zhang Xun was his Chief of Staff Wan Shengzhang. They all dressed casually and reserved a "guest seat" for Zhou Xiangjun. When Zhou Xiangjun entered, Zhang Xun bowed, and Wan Shengzhang stood up and gave way. "Mr. Zhou, I've wronged you, I'm really sorry." Wan Shengzhang was clearly acting as a mediator, a peacemaker. "Dashuai Zhang is a very talented person. Hearing that you are a celebrity in Xuzhou, he wanted to make friends with you, so he invited you to the living room."

Zhou Xiangjun has no illusions about Zhang Xun.He knew that he and Zhang Xun were not in the same way, and there was nothing he could do.With just a faint smile, he sat down gracefully on the chair prepared for him. The living room was not peaceful, without the harmony and joy of hospitality. The three pairs of gazes with different expressions were all locked in the "boudoir" after the lightning-like meeting; while the three faces expressed complex, anxious emotions that only they could understand.Zhang Xun couldn't bear to calm down, so he opened his mouth in a bullying manner: "Mr. Zhou, you are very literary, and you write poems very well; I heard that you are also very talented. Advisor. I admire you very much, but I wonder if you can be my advisor to the Dingwu Army?" "Dashuai Zhang has a lot of talents around him, and there is no shortage of literati like me." Zhou Xiangjun smiled lightly. "Mr. Xu Shuzheng, Secretary-General of the State Council in Beijing, has a letter recommending you. Do you know him?" Zhang Xun asked. "Xu Shuzheng is from Xiao County, he is my fellow townsman, and I admire his talent and learning very much." Zhou Xiangjun said, "However, I have no relationship with him, let alone ask for his care." "I'm a warrior and I'm not good at intrigue. I just want to ask you: I don't care about your poems and what you have done in the past. Are you willing to contribute to me?" "My poems and my deeds are all aboveboard. There is no need to ask for anything or not. As for whether I can contribute to the commander, I have to see if it is worth it? Think about whether I am willing or not?" "You said I was begging you?" Zhang Xun was furious. He stood up abruptly, spit and said, "You are under my command now, you are a rebel. To kill you, all I need is a word from me. You have to understand." "I understand," Zhou Xiangjun said, "I'm not begging you either. However, I can predict that the 'rebellious party' you mentioned will never be killed! Not only can they not be killed, they will eventually completely overthrow the feudal dynasty you protect , to build a brand new democratic republic!" "You rebelled? You rebelled..." Zhang Xun yelled. "This is the trend!" Zhou Xiangjun said, "You can't stop it. Your Dingwu Army can't stop it!" "I'll kill you right now." Zhang Xun said, "You will never see democracy and the republic!" "You can see," Zhou Xiangjun said: "When you see the day when the Republic was born, remember, that is the time when you and your dynasty will completely perish!" "Pull it out, and cut off your head!" Zhou Xiangjun smiled faintly, and walked out calmly, reciting loudly and loudly: "The brand-new shoes are under Lanchi, Half washed Ji Gong's old etiquette; prudent daughters are busy making progress, China began to build a peaceful foundation! Zhou Xiangjun was killed by Zhang Xun outside Wu'an Gate in Xuzhou, at the age of 47. du8.com copyright Zhang Xun killed Zhou Xiangjun, which aroused even greater anger among the people of Xuzhou. For several days in a row, the crowd was angry and cursed. If Zhang Xun didn't do anything, he kept on sending soldiers to surround the Seventh Normal School. The highest institution of higher learning in Xushu County was in a state of panic: teachers and students were hiding in hiding, Flee everywhere. But the braided army sentries around the school were heavily guarded, and no one could escape, so they had to huddle in a few remote classrooms and wait for their fate.A few brave teachers and students shouted "wronged" out of the window, but looked up at the machine guns and cannons erected on the wall of the school courtyard, but immediately restrained themselves. Xuzhou City panicked: killing teachers, besieging schools, why? Xuzhou people fell into terror. This is a school that has been built for less than a year. The living facilities are extremely incomplete. Not only can they not take care of themselves, but even water supply is very difficult.Hundreds of teachers and students are trapped in the school, so why not involve hundreds of families! People rushed to call for help, seek help from relatives and friends, in an attempt to give the trapped people a chance of life. However, most of the braided army are from Jiangnan, and most of the leaders in the army have nothing to do with Xuzhou people.Xuzhou City was shrouded in black clouds. The commander in charge of besieging the Seventh Normal School was Zhang Wensheng. On the night he accepted the task, he was quite disturbed: "Are there so many revolutionaries in Xuzhou? The students are still children, how could they become revolutionaries?" Zhang Wensheng is from Pei County, he was raised in the fertile soil of Xu, and he has never lost the feeling of his hometown. When he ordered the troops to surround the school, he attached Yi Dao's verbal order at any time: "Without my oral order, no one is allowed to shoot or use a knife. Anyone who dares to disobey the order, beheaded!" The teachers and students set up a security wall, and the siege of the school began on the night of the murder of Zhou Xiangjun (that is, May 6, 1914).At dawn the next day, Zhang Wensheng walked into the school. In a simple and simple house, he saw a pale teacher. The old gentleman knelt down to him and said sadly, "I will never bow my head to anyone in my life. The first time I kneel down to you, I am not begging for my own safety, but begging you to be tolerant to the young children of the eight counties of Xuzhou. You know, the future of Xuzhou depends entirely on them. Killing them is equivalent to killing the tomorrow of Xuzhou. Now, everything is over, if you want to find a leader of the 'rebellious party' in the Seventh Division, I am, you hand me over to Marshal Zhang, I don't feel ashamed if I kill my head, I just ask you to let those young people go." As he spoke, he burst into tears and lay down on the ground. Zhang Wensheng pulled him up, helped him to the seat, and said to him: "Old man, I know that young people are wronged and they are innocent. I am also from Xuzhou, so why don't I want to protect our children! Old man, please rest assured, I We must try our best to fight in front of Dashuai Zhang, and try not to harm these young people." The old teacher fell on his knees again. "On behalf of the young people, I thank you. Thank you." Zhang Wensheng walked out of the school feeling extremely restless. When he killed Zhou Xiangjun, he put a big question mark in his mind: "Zhou Xiangjun, full of enthusiasm, what is the crime?!" He went to Zhang Xun. Before he could open his mouth, Zhang Xun said with lingering regret: The Seventh Normal School is a rebellious party, its headquarters, teachers and students are all members of the rebellious party. If you don’t hand over the leader, no one will let you go!” "Marshal," Zhang Wensheng said, "the chief member of the 'rebellious party' is Zhou Xiangjun, who has been punished by the law. We don't need to mobilize people like this." "Cut the grass and get rid of the roots!" Zhang Xun was still furious. "Marshal, the students in this school are all the best of young people from the eight counties of the Xu family. They have been carefully selected to study here. There may also be very few people who are not good. I think it's not enough to treat them as bad. Strategy." "There are no good teachers among teachers!" "I am a local," Zhang Wensheng said, "I am well aware of the school's situation, and the school's teaching staff are recruited from various aspects. I dare say that they are definitely not a rebellious party." "You know them?" "Please rest assured, Commander. For these teachers, I can guarantee with my family and my life!" Zhang Wensheng was Zhang Xun's arm, the commander of the Dingwu Army, and the newly appointed Xuzhou guard envoy.Besides, Zhang Xun didn't know how long he would live in Xuzhou. Sure enough, the people's hearts were greatly lost. How would he gain a foothold in the future? He thought for a long time, and then said, "Let me think about it again." Zhang Wensheng knew Zhang Xun well. Even if he knew Zhang Xun did something wrong, he would not stand up and admit it. At most, he would say something to make me think again. "Let me think about it again, which means that there is hope that things will go backwards. Zhang Wensheng nodded and retreated. However, Zhang Wensheng also understood: Zhang Xun is a moody person, he can change his mind when he says he wants to, and he has to hurry up and get it over with. At this time, gentlemen from Xuzhou were organizing a petition group to go to Beijing to petition. It is said that the representatives of these people are the gentry Duan Shaocang and Shen Yiren.Zhang Wensheng found these two people, asked about the situation, and said to them: "Going to Beijing to petition is certainly a good strategy. But, think about it, how many leapfrog petitions in the past dynasties can achieve satisfactory results? , say a few good words, and send them away; more seriously, add a charge of 'inciting trouble' and imprison a few. I am concerned about you, so I tell you this." Zhang Wensheng did not forget his hometown, and with a few words from the bottom of his heart, Duan and Shen nodded in agreement—they were also considered celebrities, and they still understood the term "officials and officials protect each other". "According to Commander Zhang, there's nothing we can do about it?" "There is still a way. Otherwise, I won't invite the two of you here." "Commander Zhang, please make it clear." "Recently, Marshal Zhang is thinking about such a thing—" Zhang Wensheng revealed a secret of Zhang Xun: After Zhang Xun came to Xuzhou, he suddenly became keen on making a name for himself, and he secretly asked Yuan Shikai for permission to build an "ancestral hall" for himself in Xuzhou , To flaunt his "great achievements".But he had to put on a face. He didn't know how to open his mouth at the moment, and he didn't know how his subordinates would react. How would Xuzhou people react? Zhang Wensheng said: "Why don't you two change the way and represent the people of Xuzhou to propose to the general to build an ancestral hall for him. Praise him for his love for the people of Xuzhou, and gain his favor. The siege of the school will naturally be eliminated." Duan and Shen woke up suddenly and thought this was a good strategy. But then I thought again: the warlords, who have no trust, are willing to accept the Jiansheng Temple, and don't understand what to do when the school is surrounded? So, he said: "Commander Zhang, although the commander and your army have come to Xu twice, the people of Xuzhou still treat your army. I don’t know much. To be honest, I’m not afraid that your fellow countrymen will be offended. The people of Xuzhou are slightly critical of what your army has done, especially this time killing teachers and surrounding schools. If they are asked to come forward to build a shrine for the general, I’m afraid there will be very few people who respond , wouldn’t that be self-defeating. We thought, should the commander-in-chief first raise his hand and end the matter of the Seventh Division. We can also use this to create public opinion, and mobilize the people to build a ancestral hall for the commander-in-chief on the grounds of thanking the commander-in-chief for his kindness.” Although Zhang Wensheng felt that this intention was an exchange condition, he also felt that it was reasonable. He nodded in agreement. "You two go back first; after I report to the commander-in-chief, and the commander-in-chief agrees, I will invite the two of you to come, and we will go to see the commander-in-chief together." After the siege of Xuzhou Provincial Seventh Normal School, Zhang Xun seemed to feel a suffocation in his chest.Among the many big things he faced, this was really a small thing. Now, what shocked Zhang Xun the most should be Beijing, where Yuan Shikai's intensive planning to restructure and proclaim himself emperor. The day before yesterday, someone came from Beijing to say that Yuan Shikai had said: "Xuantong Manchus have already abdicated. If they want the emperor, they belong to the Han nationality." Isn't it Yuan Xiangcheng's confession that he wants to be emperor instead of the Manchus? There is also news that Yuan Shikai is not just talking, but has dissolved the National Assembly and reformed the new covenant law with a covenant law conference.Lao Naixuan, Liu Tingchen, and Song Yuren, the relics of the Qing Dynasty, wrote a letter saying that "to restore the monarchy, Xuantong should be restored."Yuan Shikai sent people to ban them and punish them.In addition, Yuan Shikai held talks with Duan Qirui, Feng Guozhang, and Wang Shizhen.Everyone in the world knows that these three men are the three heroes of Beiyang, and they are Yuan Shikai's shoulders. If Yuan wants to become emperor, he should be supported by these three men. Zhang Xun was troubled. The imperial system must be restored. He strongly agreed with the opinions of Lao Naixuan and others: "To restore the imperial system, the restoration of the imperial system should be restored."Who else can use Xuantong? Yuan Xiangcheng's statement that he "belongs to the Han nationality" is pure nonsense.Zhang Xun never agrees. However, after all, Zhang Xun only lives in a small Xuzhou, and his family is the only one in China that still has braids. How to control the capital and how to influence Yuan Shikai? He feels that he is unable to do what he wants. The day before yesterday, he wanted to go to Nanjing to meet Feng Guozhang. Feng Guozhang agreed with him on the issue of opposing Yuan and proclaiming himself emperor. However, he did not go.He heard that Yuan Shikai had been looking for Feng one step ahead of him, and Feng was one of his "Three Heroes", so he was afraid that it would be useless to find him.He wanted to go to Beijing to find Duan Qirui, and he felt that Duan Qirui would not agree to Yuan Shikai's proclaiming himself emperor. However, he didn't go either. He could have gotten close to Duan Qirui through Xu Shuzheng. However, Xu Shuzheng's "eyeballs" (please treat Zhou Xiangjun leniently) to him were rejected by him, killing Zhou Xiangjun would offend Xu Shuzheng; offending Xu Shuzheng would cut off Duan Qirui's path... Charge and fight, Zhang Xun has always felt that it is a relaxed and happy thing. And the political struggle always made him unable to do what he wanted: it was too difficult, too difficult! After Zhang Xun came to Xuzhou, he always felt tired, confused, and extremely depressed, and almost none of the things he wanted to do was done.In the previous paragraph, he wanted to "emphasize the text" and wanted to have a good copywriter. He sent someone to Jiangxi, to Gang Zuitou, and the young master Xu Xifu who asked him to accompany him respectfully worshiped him as the "Chief Copywriter".The son of the Xu family said that he "doesn't benefit the officialdom and is cold in his official career", but in the dark he held the aloofness of "not obeying orders in front of slaves", so he rejected Zhang Xun.It made Zhang Xun hold his breath. "Do I treat the Xu family well?" Zhang Wensheng told him about the building of the ancestral hall for Zhang Xun when he met with the representative of the noble gentry in Xuzhou, and repeatedly stated that "this will give the Marshal a good reputation. Since Xuzhou people respect the Marshal so much, does the Marshal also respect him?" Should I take the initiative to express something?" "How do you say that?" Zhang Xun pretended to be confused. "Xuzhou Provincial Seventh Normal School..." "Have a bargain with me for building an ancestral hall!" "You can't say that," Zhang Wensheng compromised. "To care for the young people in Xuzhou and lift the siege of the Seventh Division is the kindness of the general to the people of Xuzhou; the people of Xuzhou came forward to build an ancestral hall for the general, which is the reward from the people of Xuzhou to the general. Even if there is a suspicion of bargaining, it is justified , High-sounding. For generations to come, it is the reputation of the Marshal in Xuzhou." Zhang Xun squinted his eyes and thought about it, and felt that it was a good deal, and it was better than setting up a monument for himself. He said, "Then do it this way." du8.com copyright The siege of Xuzhou Provincial Seventh Normal School was finally resolved on the condition that Zhang Xun's ancestral hall be built. On the same day, Zhang Wensheng issued the order to withdraw troops, and at night he called Duan Shaocang and Shen Yiren, and said to them, "The commander-in-chief finally agreed, I have ordered the withdrawal of troops, and you have to do a good job in building the ancestral hall." Duan Shaocang nodded and said: "Yes, yes, yes." After a pause, he said: "The location of the temple, of course, has to be determined by the commander in person, and the location can be arranged according to needs. It's just that the silver taels needed to build the temple ..." "Of course it comes from the locality." Zhang Wensheng said unambiguously. Duan and Shen were immediately stunned—they were just gentry, and they could contribute as much money as they wanted; it was beyond their ability to apportion the money locally.Zhang Wensheng saw it clearly, so he said: "Naturally, you don't need to bother with this matter. You just need to explain to all parties, and then the situation will be fine. I have been appointed as the guard of Xuzhou, and I will find a solution. " Duan and Shen nodded easily. The next day, Zhang Wensheng led Duan Shaocang and Shen Yiren to see Zhang Xun.Duan and Shen said some flattering words to Zhang Xun, showing that the Xuzhou people praised him, saying that building an ancestral hall for him in Xuzhou was "what the people want!" Honest, hardworking and brave words of praise, and expressed "uneasy" about spending money on building his ancestral hall. Finally, he said: "I was also brought up by poor parents in a poor village. I know the sufferings of the working people, and I can't bear to increase taxes for the people, but I dare not violate the love of the people of Xuzhou. From now on, I will do more good things for the people of Xuzhou, so that the people of Xuzhou They can eat and clothe themselves warmly, live and work in peace and contentment.” du8.com copyright Between 1914 and 1915, two "Heavenly Hearts" suddenly appeared in China. One year was Beijing, where a dynasty was actively awakening, that is, the new imperial faction headed by Yuan Shikai.Yuan Shikai didn't want to be patient anymore, he was about to ascend the throne and be emperor, and even the name, etiquette, imperial edict, and cabinet were all arranged.Just wait for the "auspicious day" to announce to the world.Another Tianxin is Xuzhou—it is also actively brewing here, and it is brewing to restore a dynasty, that is, the restoration faction dominated by Zhang Xun.Zhang Xun didn't want to be patient any longer: How can the majestic China be without a master for a long time? He wants to restore the abdicated little emperor, let him become the great treasure again, and become the axis of China. Yuan Shikai firmly believed that he would become China's true dragon emperor. Zhang Xun firmly believes that he will revive the fallen Chinese dynasty. For many days, Zhang Xun frequently sent special envoys to contact and secretly discuss with various factions who could conspire with him. The restorationists in China are not from the Zhang family, but there are armed restorationists. Its representative is Shengyun, styled Jifu, a native of the Mongolian Yellow Banner, who was born in a Mongolian princely aristocracy, and served as the governor of Shaanxi and Gansu. After the recovery of 1911, he was appointed governor of Shaanxi by the Qing government. He had already assembled the princes of Manchuria, the remnants of the Eight Banners, and the reactionary Daoist sect, and put together the "King Qin Army", which became an important armed force for the restorationists. The representative of Sheng Yun said to Zhang Xun: "The Manchu and Mongolian royal family has huge armed forces for the commander to dispatch, and will respond to the commander from the vast northern region of China!" The other faction is the princely and aristocratic faction, and their representatives are: Puwei, Prince Mu of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, and Shanqi, Prince Su.These aristocrats have long lost their power and prestige, one fled to Qingdao and the other fled to Dalian. They actively turned to imperialism and determined to restore.Shanqi once sent a representative to sign a secret agreement with Tsarist Russia to send troops to Zhangjiakou from Tsarist Russia, and asked the emperor to restore it. The "land, forests, pastures, mines, houses, water conservancy, etc. of the three provinces are used as guarantees. Shanqi also made a promise to Zhang Xun during the restoration: "We must ask for foreign aid to help you succeed!" , Lao Naixuan represented the bureaucrats and old-timers; Kang Youwei was already a world-famous royalist party. The vice-ministers of the Faculty of Faculty tried their best to restore the government, and went all out to lobby. They have already hooked up with Zhang Xun through various channels, and told Zhang Xun clearly: "The Japanese government has made it clear that Xuantong should come back to power. The German government is willing to assist the restoration of the Qing Dynasty with the capital of the Deutsche Bank, and to help it by force. "Zhang Xun was very excited. He saw that he was not fighting alone. He had allies and foreign aid. He could win from the ground up and win immediately! Zhang Xun was also disturbed. He was worried about the south, and he knew that there were no allies in the south, and there were revolutionaries.Zhang Xun decided to go to the south in person to visit his old master, who is now in Guangdong. Xu Zhenshen, who is the governor, also came to find out the attitude of the people there towards the restoration. When Zhang Xun arrived in Guangzhou with his entourage, he suddenly hesitated: Should he go to see Xu Zhenshao as a slave or a house boy, or should he go to see Xu Zhenshen as a patrol envoy to the Yangtze River? In Jiangxi, in Gangzuitou Village.Zhang Xun met Xu Zhenzuo. That was when Xu Zhenshen came home to celebrate his 60th birthday. Zhang Xun was serving as a soldier in the Yamen of Nanchang Mansion. He led his new wife Cao Qin to the Xu Mansion. Now it's different, the status of a slave is higher than that of a master, can he still be a slave? Wouldn't that be a breach of court etiquette? When he left Xuzhou, Zhang Xun made preparations, and he prepared a thick copy Gifts, including two pieces of Han Dynasty pottery and copper tripods unearthed in Xuzhou, as well as Xuzhou's famous specialties "Fankui dog meat", "Osmanthus hawthorn cake", chicken head rice from Weishan Lake, and large prawns from Haizhou. Really wrote a "resume handbook".He actually forgot what status he used to "ask for advice" from celebrities. After thinking for a long time, Zhang Xun decided to meet the governor of Guangdong as a patrol envoy of the Yangtze River. He came to the governor's office with his entourage, handed over the manuscript, and the servant hurried in to inform. Xu Zhenshao is a governor with a professional background. He is an official in Guangdong, and he can be regarded as living in a corner, almost like exile.Otherwise, the governor could not have been in office for more than 30 years.Today, people have reached the age of 90. Although there is no serious disease in the eyes and ears, they are old after all. However, he chose not to say goodbye to his old age and return to his hometown, just waiting for the court to "retire" at last, but the court just ignored him. Therefore, Xu Zhenhuan was also a free official; Sun Yat-sen made a big noise in Guangzhou and rebelled against the Qing Dynasty, but he was able to "coexist peacefully" with the governor of the Qing Dynasty.Xu Zhenshao is an upright person, deeply embodying benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and trustworthiness, holding on to the purpose of "being a good old man", and staying behind closed doors.Today I suddenly saw that Zhang Xun had a handbook delivered, and he was already outside the door. I was overjoyed at first-at last I met an old friend in a foreign land. But he immediately became displeased—"Zhang Xun is my servant of the Xu family after all, how can he come to visit me as an official? Is there any etiquette? What is the proper way?" Xu Zhenshen threw down the gift slip and notebook, Angrily said: "Zhang Xun, dare to come to me to put on airs!" The governor said this, but the servant couldn't tell the truth. It was obvious that a patrol envoy was waiting outside the door. The servant was shrewd, so he hurriedly packed up the gift slips and notebooks in the ground, put them away as they were, walked out the door, and said nonchalantly, "Master just went out. Zhang Xun was clever, and when he saw this, he knew that Xu Zhenshen was surprised, and he was shocked—Xu Zhensock had absolute majesty in Zhang Xun's heart, and he didn't dare to contradict him, and he didn't dare to go to Xuzhou.Thinking about it for a while, he immediately walked into the gate of Xu's mansion by himself, borrowed the plain clothes from the steward and changed into it, and walked in by himself without a notebook. Zhang Xun came in front of Xu Zhenshen, knelt down on the ground, kowtowed repeatedly, and said: "The villain Zhang Xun, who lives well, is here to greet the elder." When Xu Zhenqian saw Zhang Xun coming in like this, he made this great gift.Suddenly I felt that I had "passed." No matter what happened in the past, today he is also an official of the court.Someone with status, being so obedient and never forgetting the old master, is considered a great gift!" Immediately, he was angry and happy, and helped Zhang Xun up with both hands, saying: "You and I are both imperial officials, why do you have to be so 01 Central - sit down and talk quickly , sit down and talk.Zhang Xun gave way for a while before taking his seat. After greeting each other, Xu Zhensock said: "There is chaos in Beijing, and chaos in the north. I am very concerned about your safety. For many years, I always wanted to go back to my hometown in Jiangxi to spend my old age, but the court refused to allow it, so I had to make up for it here." "The boss has high morals and high prestige. He has lived in the border town for a long time, so the court is naturally more dependent. Besides, who can handle this situation?" Zhang Xun tried his best to flatter the old master. "There have been years of war and unrest, and I have wanted to pay my respects to the boss for a long time, but I can't make it..." "I know you can't get away." Xu Zhenshen said: "It's been hard for you these years. That Yuan Shikai is really..." Xu Zhenshen wanted to criticize the government, but restrained himself.Because he still doesn't know what kind of character Zhang Xun is. Seeing this, Zhang Xun hurriedly pulled his braids from the back of his head (as if to show that "I support the emperor loyally"), sighed, and said, "My lord, to tell you the truth, I don't agree with Yuan Xiangcheng's behavior like this." He did it. I heard that he recently changed the system in Beijing and wanted to be the emperor. Isn’t this usurping the dynasty? Starting from Lafayette, the court treated him well! Should you do it, never should, you Yuan Xiangcheng shouldn’t... ..." "It's unpopular!" Xu Zhenshao was also a loyal minister, he didn't want his lord to fall from power. "Isn't someone against him?" "My lord," Zhang Xun bowed hurriedly, and said, "I came from the south for this matter, and I came here to ask my lord for advice." The situation of the faction was introduced one by one.He also said: "Let me see, the Yuan family can't achieve great things. China has to be the China of the imperial court, and the government has to be returned to Xuantong. I want to ask the boss for one thing. Sure enough, the day of restoration has come, and the boss can rely on it. I will echo your virtue in the south and support it." Xu Zhensock said: "As far as I know, all the southern provinces are preparing for independence. I don't know what to say then?" "Independence is temporary." Zhang Xun said: "In the end, there must be reunification. That is to see whose name the reunification will be under?" "You're here, I understand what's on your mind." Xu Zhenshen said slowly: "Don't force me, let me think about it and discuss it with my colleagues. Guangzhou is not Xuzhou, and Guangzhou is not Beijing. Can't act rashly." Hearing this, Zhang Xun became cold. "What can't be acted rashly, what "Guangzhou is not Xuzhou, it's not because you are wise and safe, and think more about yourself. " Zhang Xun thought so, but he couldn't say it in his mouth. He smiled and said: "What the boss thinks is naturally a perfect plan. How can Zhang Xun force the boss? This time I came south, I just want to ask the boss Report the situation and listen to the opinions of the elders.Where do we go? It depends on the future situation. " Xu Zhenyu treated Zhang Xun kindly, did not regard him as a servant, and even praised Zhang Xun to his staff. Zhang Xun felt that the southern support for his restoration was not strong, so he hurried back to Xuzhou after a few days. After eight months of construction, a "Zhang Xun Ancestral Hall" with carved beams and painted buildings and winding corridors, just like a palace, was completed in Xuzhou. This is the best view in the city! Looking east to the Yellow Tower of Su Dongpo, south to the Horse Stage of Chu Bawang, north to the Bawang Tower, and west to the Bell and Drum Tower, it covers an area of more than ten acres, complete with pavilions, towers and pavilions. The main entrance of the ancestral hall is divided into east and west gates. The banner on the east gate has the four characters "Jiangnan Security", the west gate has the four characters "Huaibang Dianzhu", and the front gate has the words "Fengxin Zhang Gongsheng Ancestral Hall".Inside the gate of the ancestral hall is a large courtyard, where cars and sedan chairs can be parked. If you walk through the vermilion bridge, you can climb up to the main hall pavilion platform Danchi. Under the bridge, there is a small stream, and the gurgling water communicates with the surrounding pools. There are five large rooms in the main hall, three sides are full of vermilion longevity characters, and plaques praising Zhang Xun's merits are hung on both sides. In the south of the main hall, there is the Zhuhong Jiuqu Bridge, in the southwest there are warm pavilions and pavilions; in the north there is Kuixing Pavilion, and there is a large dragon stele on the side of the pavilion, which records Zhang Xun's "virtuous government" and the reason and process of building the temple; Zhang Xun rested and tasted tea. Zhang Xun is very satisfied with this building. On the day when it was completed, Zhang Xun carefully watched it back and forth, inside and out. He always had a smile on his face, and he became very kind to everyone around him at the moment. When he came to the main hall of the main hall, he saw that the front was still empty, so he asked Zhang Wensheng, who was in charge of the building: "There is nothing here, is it empty?" Zhang Wensheng said, "We are waiting for the commander to arrange." Ask someone to carry the newly made large plaque presented by Yuan Shikai. "I want to put this plaque in the middle, what does the Commander think?" Zhang Xun thought for a while, although there was a gap between him and Yuan Shikai, but Yuan Shikai was the biggest official today, so it was natural that he should hang it in the middle. He nodded. Zhang Wensheng hung it, made of purple red wood, gilded with gold, and covered with red silk, with four raised gold characters in the middle: "Praise the heroic posture of Hubei", which is very magnificent. In particular, the most authoritative and generous seal is stamped on the plaque: "The Seal of Rongdian".This is undoubtedly a high praise for Zhang Xun.Zhang Xun nodded and smiled. Zhang Wensheng said: "Under the big plaque, if you want to enlarge the bust portrait of Shuai, there will naturally be less incoherent couplets on both sides, so you have to write by the Shuai himself." Zhang Xun's face sank, "How do you write?" He can carry a bundle of guns, but he can't write well.Zhang Wensheng laughed. "Of course it's just the name of the commander-in-chief." He also said: "The couplet written in your name the day before yesterday has been made. Please look over it again." Then he moved out the mahogany couplet. Zhang Xun smiled.
