Chapter 4 Postscript (2)

sow girl 玛丽·达里厄塞克 461Words 2018-03-21
When I called Mary a "bestselling author" in a review a few years ago, she wasn't too pleased. In fact, there is nothing wrong with this. Best-selling does not mean popular and vulgar. But now, whether she wants to or not, she has changed the image of a best-selling author or a popular novelist, not only because of the fact that her later novels no longer sell well, but also because she has gone further and further on the road of literary exploration, This is also the core content discussed in my article, but it is beyond the scope of this postscript. Ten years after the publication of "The Sow Girl" in France, Mary came to China, and a new translation of this book will be released, all of which are very meaningful. Although the translation in 1998 was well received at the time, it still looks rough and flawed now, because the difficulty in translating contemporary literature is not entirely in language and writing, but in the author’s living environment and era. , expressions, and literary pursuits are sometimes more important than the text itself. Many old translators lament that they cannot translate contemporary works, because this era is changing too fast and there are too many new things. These are not just about knowing the language. Fortunately, the translation of this book has always been backed by the author. This time when she came to China, the translator carefully made all the old translations.

For proofreading, one-third of the revisions have been made. I think that if there is a chance to revise after 10 years, there may be more revisions.Translation is never perfect. Hu Xiaoyue in March 2006
