Chapter 8 The influence of Tang legend in the third quarter

The emergence of Tang legends marks the maturity of short stories in ancient Chinese classical Chinese.Legend has become the main form of classical Chinese short stories since the Song Dynasty.It absorbs the imagination of Zhiguai and draws lessons from the narrative skills of historical literature to form the artistic characteristics of vivid characters, twists and turns of the plot, rich lyrical atmosphere, and concise and gorgeous language. Tang legends had a great influence on the novels and operas of later generations.Many famous Tang legends were transplanted and adapted by later vernacular short story writers and dramatists.Chen Hong wrote the legendary "Song of Everlasting Sorrow", which is about the Anshi Rebellion and the joys and sorrows of Tang Minghuang and Yang Yuhuan.Later, there was a series of operas based on this legend and Bai Juyi's adaptation.In the Yuan Dynasty, Wang Bocheng created rap literature - Zhugong Diao "Tianbao Legacy", and Bai Pu wrote the Zaju "Wu Tong Yu".Hong Sheng of the Qing Dynasty reached the pinnacle of this material."The Legend of Huo Xiaoyu" and "The Legend of Nanke Taishou" in Tang legends were adapted into "The Story of the Purple Hairpin", "The Story of Nanke" and "The Story of Handan" by Tang Xianzu, a famous dramatist in the Ming Dynasty. The famous works are collectively called "Four Dreams of Yumingtang", or "Four Dreams of Linchuan".Chen Xuanyou's "Leaving Soul" was adapted into a drama "A Chinese Girl Leaving Soul" by Zheng Guangzu, a native of the Yuan Dynasty.Behind Yuan Zhen, a series of operas followed.Among them, the most famous ones are the dramas of Wang Shifu, a native of the Yuan Dynasty.
