Chapter 20 clods and pebbles

love does not seek to be happy don't take care of yourself sacrificed comfort for others Build heaven out of hell's despair A little stone sings like this being stuck on the cow's feet and trampled on meet a pebble in a stream it sings these rhymes softly Love only seeks to satisfy oneself force others to be comfortable Take pleasure in others and lose comfort Build hell in heaven's abomination Love seeketh not Itself to please, Nor for itself hath any care; But for another gives its ease, And builds a Heaven in Hells despair. So sang a little Clod of Clay,

Trodden with the cattle feet: But a Pebble of the brook, Warbled out these meters meet; Love seeketh only Self to please, To bind another to its delight; Joys in another loss of ease, And builds a Hell in Heavens despite.
