Chapter 68 Appendix II Selected Poems of Mao Zedong

(July 1, 1958) On June 30, "People's Daily" published an article saying: Yujiang County has basically eradicated schistosomiasis, and there is great hope for eradicating the epidemic in twelve provinces and cities.I wrote two propaganda poems, which are roughly equal to the recent posters, and chatting is a helping hand.In terms of the destruction of our lives by schistosomiasis, it is far stronger than any one or several imperialisms that have beaten us in the past. The Eight-Power Allied Forces and the War of Resistance Against Japan, in terms of destroying people, are not as good as schistosomiasis. In addition to the people who died in history, there are still 10 million people suffering from the epidemic, and 10 million people are threatened by the epidemic. Is it tolerable, which is unbearable? However, most of the Hua Tuos today lacked confidence in the early years, and their enthusiasm has gradually increased in the past one or two years, so there is hope. The main reason is that the party has seized it and the masses have mobilized on a large scale.Party organizations, scientists, and the masses, when the three are combined, the God of Plague has no choice but to walk.

(December 21, 1958) After the publication of some of my crooked words, commentators flocked to them, all out of good intentions. Some of them are right and some of them are not. I have the responsibility to explain. In December 1958, in Guangzhou, I read the September 1958 issue of the Cultural Relics Publishing House. It was very broad, so I wrote the following words, thanking the annotators and readers.Lu Xun was in Guangzhou in 1927, revising his "Ancient Novel Going Shen", and then said: At that time, the sea of clouds was sinking, the stars and the moon were clear and blue, and the gluttonous mosquitoes sighed in the distance, and I was in Guangzhou. From then to today, thirty-one years have passed, and the gluttonous mosquitoes on the mainland have almost been wiped out. Of course, the revolution has not yet been completed, and comrades still have to work hard.In the area of Hong Kong and Taiwan, there are still many gluttonous mosquitoes, and in the western world, gluttonous mosquitoes are in formation.Wouldn't it be great to be able to afford millions of foolish old men of all nationalities in the world to use their own methods of moving mountains to wipe out the mosquitoes!Try to imitate Lu Fangweng's saying: Human beings have gone to space today, but sadly, the five continents are not the same.On the day when Yu Gong wipes out gluttonous mosquitoes, he never forgets to tell Ma Weng during the public sacrifice.

Hitting the water: swimming. At that time, I was just learning, and the water rose in midsummer, and the number of deaths was high.A group of people finally persisted until the middle of winter, still in the river. At that time, there was a poem, which I have forgotten, but I only remember two sentences: Confidence in life for two hundred years, will be like water hitting three thousand miles. Heartbeat: In 1927, on the eve of the failure of the Great Revolution, I felt desolate and didn't know what to do for a while. This was the spring of that year.In the summer, on August 7th, an emergency meeting of the party decided to take armed resistance and found a way out.

Traveling all over Qingshan, people are not old: In 1934, the situation was critical, preparing for the Long March, and the mood was depressed. This song "Qing Ping Le", like the previous "Bodhisattva Man", expresses the same state of mind. The long march of thousands of miles, thousands of twists and turns, the success is less than the difficulty, I do not know how many times, the mood is gloomy. After passing Minshan Mountain, it suddenly became clear, and it turned to the opposite side, and another village appeared. The following articles reflect this sentiment. Water shooting: change to wave shooting. This was suggested by an unknown friend. He said that it is okay not to have two profane characters in an article.

Three armies: the Red Army on the one hand, the second front, and the fourth. It is not the three armies of the sea, land, and air, nor is it the three armies of the upper army, the middle army, and the lower army that the ancient Jin State made. Canglong: Chiang Kai-shek, not Japanese.Because it is Jiang, not Japan, that he has to deal with with all his energy. Kunlun: The main idea is to oppose imperialism, nothing else.To change a sentence: keep one piece in China, and return the other piece to the East.It is wrong to forget the Japanese. In this way, Britain, the United States, and Japan are all involved.Any other explanation is unrealistic.

Xue: Anti-feudalism, criticizing a reactionary aspect of 2,000-year-old feudalism.Literary talent, coquettishness, and great carving can only be like this, you must know that this is writing poetry! Is it okay to abuse these people?Other explanations are wrong. The last three sentences refer to the proletariat. Thirty-one years: I left Beijing in 1919 and returned to Beijing in 1949.The country of the old country: the capital city. Not State, nor Country. Music play: It is mistakenly planted here as play music, which should be changed. Changsha Water: Folk Song: Changde has virtue in its mountains, but Changsha has no sand in its sandy waters. The so-called sand-free water is located in the east of Changsha City, where there is a famous "White Sand Well".Wuchang fish: Sun Quan of the Three Kingdoms once moved his capital to Wuchang from Jingkou (Zhenjiang). The bureaucrats, gentry, landlords and other wealthy classes were displeased and opposed the move. They made up a slogan: "I would rather drink Yangzhou water than eat Wuchang fish."At that time, Yangzhou people were in such a mood.It has changed now, Wuchang fish is quite tasty.

The upper and lower rhymes cannot be changed, so we have to keep them. introduction (April 1962) These six poems have been forgotten for a long time. The editorial department of "People's Literature" collected them and asked for publication, and paid for it.I recalled that these words were hummed on horseback from 1929 to 1931.The literary talent is not good, but it reflects the state of mind of the revolutionary masses and revolutionary fighters in that period. It can be used as historical materials. (May 1962) I did some research on the poem "Loushanguan", and I thought it would take a day to write.Later, I felt that it was wrong. I was writing twice, once in the first column and once in the second column.I once expressed my opinion at the Guangzhou Literature and Art Symposium, advocating the latter (writing twice) and denying the former (writing for one day), but I was wrong. This is what the author told me.After the Party's Zunyi Conference in January 1935, the Red Army attacked Loushan Pass for the first time and won a victory. They attempted to pass through southern Sichuan, cross the river to the north, enter western Sichuan, take Chengdu directly, defeat Liuxiang, and establish a base in western Sichuan. However, things backfired and encountered heavy resistance from the Sichuan Army. The Red Army headed west from Loushanguan, passing through Gulin and Gusong counties to a place at the junction of the three provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou, called the "Three Provinces of Jiming".The Political Bureau of the Central Committee held a meeting and immediately decided to follow the same route to counterattack Zunyi, taking the enemy by surprise and returning the carbine. This was February of that year.At a location tens of miles away from Loushan Pass, we set off early in the morning, and there was still the moon, and arrived at Loushan Pass at two or three in the afternoon. We conquered the first battle and wiped out a division of the enemy army.Taking advantage of the victory, he went straight to catch up, fought in Zunyi at night, and wiped out another division of the enemy army.In this campaign, two enemy divisions were wiped out and Zunyi was regained. The lyrics were written later. I walked more than a hundred miles that day and commanded the battle. How could I have the time and energy to hum the lyrics? There are many provinces in the south where there is no snow in winter, or there has been no snow for many years, but only frost, geese in the sky, and the dawn is not very cold, just like the late autumn in the north, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan provinces are like this. According to the author, the two sentences "Cangshan is like the sea, and the setting sun is like blood" are based on the observation of the scenery accumulated for many years during the war. These two sentences for success. From this point of view, what I said at the Guangzhou symposium was actually wrong. This shows the difficulty of solving poetry.

(January 27, 1964) 1. "Melancholy, ask the vast land, who is in charge of the ups and downs?" This sentence refers to: Before the Northern Expedition, warlords ruled, and which class decided the fate of China? Second, "hit the water in the middle of the current". "Strike the water" refers to swimming in the Xiangjiang River.I still remember two lines of the poem I wrote at that time: "If you are confident that you will live for 200 years, you will be hit by water for 3,000 miles." At that time, there was a cause (Jiang Weiqiao) who advocated a meditation method.

3. "The banner at the foot of the mountain is in sight, and the drums and horns on the top of the mountain are heard." Both "banners" and "drum horns" refer to our army.Huangyangjie is very steep, the position is on the mountainside, the command is on the top of the mountain, and the enemy is attacking upwards. The mountain was not all occupied by the enemy, and it was not serious to this extent. "The flag is in sight", in fact there are no flags flying, they are all rolled up. Fourth, "reappearance of a pillow of yellow beams". Refers to the yellow beam dream of a warlord.

5. "A Song of International Elegy". "Sorrow" means tragic. 6. "Dead trees and rotten plants work hard together. The guns are everywhere, and the parachutist enters with his own weight." "Dead trees and rotten plants" does not refer to the enemy, but to our own side. Plants and trees can also help us. "Gun forest force" also refers to his own side. "A parachutist shoots into the sky with his own weight, and the parachutist enters with his own weight." 7. "Mo Daojun travels early". The "Jun" in "Jun Xing Zao" refers to myself, not plural, and should be translated as singular. There are high mountains in Huichang, I will go climbing before dawn.

Eight, "three feet three from the sky". This is a folk song in Changde, Hunan. 9. "The west wind is strong, and the geese in the sky are called the frost and the moon... Xiongguan is as long as iron, and now it is over from the beginning." This poem is not written twice to attack Loushanguan, but written once. There is Daba Mountain in the north, and there are mountains between the Yangtze River and Wujiang River to block the wind, so January and February are not too cold. "The geese call" and "the frost morning" describe the scene at that time. This is the case in Yunnan and Guizhou, and Kunming is like spring all the year round. After the Zunyi Conference, the Red Army went north to prepare to cross the Yangtze River, but encountered strong resistance. In order to get rid of the enemy, catch the enemy by surprise, and return to the carbine, the Red Army turned back and decided to return to Zunyi. As a result, they captured Loushan Pass for the second time and regained Zunyi. When we passed Loushan Pass, the sun had not yet set. 10. "Five Ridges are meandering with fine waves, and Wumeng is majestic with mud balls." Comparing mountains to "fine waves" and "niwans" means "waiting leisurely". 11. "If the sky has love, the sky will also grow old." This is a sentence borrowed from Li He.Compared with the world, the sky is not old.In fact, heaven also has birth, development, and decline.Heaven is the natural world, including the organic world, such as bacteria and animals. Both nature and human society have the process of birth and death.Classes in society rise and fall. 12. "If you don't see a vast ocean, who do you know?" It means that the fishing boat is missing. Thirteen, "Tears fly and suddenly pour rain." It means to cry with joy. 14. "Sit on the ground and travel 80,000 miles a day, survey the sky and see a thousand rivers in the distance." People sit on the planet Earth and travel in the universe without buying a ticket. The number of miles the earth rotates is the number of miles people travel. The diameter of the earth is more than 12,700 kilometers, multiplied by pi, that is, the length of the equator, which is about 40,000 kilometers, and then converted into Huali, which is about 80,000 miles.A person travels eighty thousand miles in twenty-four hours. 15. "The Cowherd Wants to Ask the God of Plague". Cowherd and Weaver Girl is a legend of the Jin Dynasty. 16. "The red rain turns into waves at will, and the green hills turn into bridges intentionally." "Red Rain" refers to peach blossom.Writing this sentence is to create the conditions for the next sentence. "The green hills are intentionally turned into bridges", which means that the green hills are pierced through holes to become bridges. These two poems have water and bridges. 17. "Don't dream vaguely curse the death of the river, the hometown thirty-two years ago... the black hand hangs the overlord's whip." "Curse the River of Death" and "Thirty-two years ago" refer to the failure of the Great Revolution and the suppression of the revolution by the reactionaries. The "overlord" here refers to Chiang Kai-shek. 18. "Look at the world with cold eyes." "Cold eyes to the ocean" is "Heng eyebrows and cold confrontation". 19. "Yellow Crane Floating in Nine Schools of Yunheng". "Yellow Crane" does not refer to the Yellow Crane Tower. "Jiupai" refers to the rivers in this area, which are tributaries of the Yangtze River. In the Ming Dynasty, Li Panlong wrote a poem "Huaiming Qing" as a gift to his friends: "Looking west of Yuzhang among the colorful clouds, there are nine schools of the Yangtze River and nine folded mountains. You don't need to look into the stone mirror when you lie down high. One of the "Later Seven Sons".There are also good poems in the Ming Dynasty, but "Comprehensive Ming Poetry" is not good, and "Bie Cai Ming Poetry" is good. Twenty. "White smoke" is water. 21. "Tao Ling doesn't know where to go, can he plow in the Peach Blossom Spring?" Tao Yuanming envisioned an ideal world called Taohuayuan, where there is no taxation and no oppression. 22. Who is the "friend" in "Seven Laws Answering Friends"? "Friend" refers to Zhou Shizhao. Twenty-three, "White clouds fly on Jiuyi Mountain". "Jiuyi Mountain", that is, Cangwu Mountain, is in the south of Hunan Province. Twenty-four, "Hongxia Wanduo Hundred Heavy Clothes". "Hongxia" refers to the emperor's clothes. Twenty-five, "Dongting waves surging with snow". "Dongting wave" is taken from "Nine Songs · Mrs. Xiang" in "Chu Ci": "Dongting wave is under the leaves of trees". 26. "Long Island People's Songs and Poems". "Long Island" means Shuiluzhou, also known as Juzizhou, from which Changsha got its name, just as Hankou got its name from being at the mouth of the Hanshui River. Twenty-seven, "Furong country is full of morning glory". "Furong Country" refers to Hunan, see Tan Yongzhi's poem "Autumn Wind Ten Thousand Miles Furong Country". "Furong" refers to wood hibiscus, not water hibiscus, which is a lotus flower.Tan Shi can check "Quan Tang Poetry". Twenty-eight, "Looking at Jinsong in the twilight, flying through chaotic clouds is still calm." It is cloud calm, not loose calm. Twenty-nine, "A monk is a fool, but he can still be taught, and a demon is a ghost, and it will be a disaster." Guo Moruo's original poem was aimed at the Tang monk.Should be aimed at the bone essence.Tang Seng is an unenlightened person who was deceived. My poems refute Mr. Guo. 30. "Ants border Huaihuai to exaggerate the country". "Da Huai Anguo" is a story in Tang Xianzu's "Nan Ke Ji". Thirty-one. "When the westerly wind leaves Chang'an, the sound of dysprosium is flying." "Flying dysprosium" refers to our offense. "Chang'an is under the falling leaves of the west wind", insects are afraid of autumn and winter. The situation has changed very quickly. At that time, it was "a hundred feet of ice", but now it is "the four seas are churning, the clouds and water are furious, and the five continents are shaking, wind and thunder are stirring".Since last year, we have been attacking, and in September we began to write an article commenting on the open letter of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Thirty-two, "The world is turning, and time is pressing. Ten thousand years is too long, just seize the day and night." If you want to be slow, I want to be fast, and do the opposite.Do you want to live ten thousand years? Not that long.I want to see the high and low right away, and argue for clarity, and no prevarication is allowed. But in fact, time is on our side, "seize the day and night", and we are not in such a hurry.
