Mystery of Wisdom 奥修 14796Words 2018-03-20
Born 28 February 1973 in Bombay, India Scripture: Just as waves follow water and fire follows fire, so the waves of the universe follow us. Wherever your mind wanders inwardly or outwardly, there is this very place, this very moment when awareness comes alive through a particular sense, remain in that awareness. Sri Aurobindo said somewhere that the whole life is yoga, and it is true, everything can become meditation.Meditation is not happening to you unless everything becomes meditation. Meditation cannot be just a part or a fragment.Either it is -- and when it is, you are totally in it -- or it is not.You cannot make a part of your life meditative, that is impossible, but everywhere people are trying.

"You" can become meditative, but only a part of you cannot become meditative, that is impossible, because meditation is the quality of your whole being, it is like breathing, whatever you are doing, you are Keep breathing, no matter what you are doing, you are still breathing, whether you are walking, sitting, lying, sleeping, you are still breathing, you can't arrange to say sometimes you breathe, sometimes you don't breathe, it is a continuum. Meditation is an inner breath and when I say "an inner breath" I mean it literally, it's not a metaphor, as if you breathe air, you can also breathe consciousness, once you start to Consciousness breathes in and out, and you are no longer just a physical body. With that beginning, starting with a higher breath, starting with a breath of consciousness, the breath of life itself, you go into a different realm, a different level, and that level is metaphysical.

Your breath is physical, meditation is metaphysical, so you cannot make a part of your life meditative, you cannot meditate in the morning and forget about it.You cannot go to a temple or a classroom, that is impossible, and if you try it, you will be trying a false thing. You can go into a church and come out, but you cannot go into meditation and come out, when you go in, you go in, wherever you go, now meditation is you, this is basic, elementary, elementary One of the truths, you must always remember. Second, you can enter meditation from anywhere, because the whole life is in a deep meditation. The mountains are meditative, the stars are meditative, the flowers, trees, wind, rain, etc. are meditative, this earth is meditative, the whole life is meditative, you can enter it from any place, anything Be an initiation, that way has been used, that's why there are so many techniques, that's why there are so many religions, that's why one religion cannot understand another religion, because their initiations are different.Sometimes religions are not even known by the name of the religion, and you cannot recognize someone as religious because their initiations are so different.

Let's say a poet, a poet don't go to any teacher, don't go to any temple, don't become religious in any way -- become so-called religious and he can enter into meditation. His poetry, his creativity can become a gateway, through which he can enter meditation; or a potter, he is just creating pots, through which he can also enter meditation, and that craft is Can become an initiation; or an archer can become meditative through his archery; or a gardener, or anyone can enter meditation from anywhere, anything you can do can become an initiation .If when you are doing something, the quality of awareness changes, it becomes a skill, so, as much as you can imagine, there are as many skills, any behavior can become an introduction, so behavior, skill The way, method, and method are not the main thing, the quality of consciousness you bring to that behavior is the basic thing.

One of the greatest mystics of India, Kabir, was a weaver, and he remained a weaver even after he became enlightened, and he had tens of thousands of disciples, and they would come, and they would tell He: "Stop your weaving now, you don't need it anymore, we are here and we will take care of you in every way." Kabir would laugh, and he would say, "This weaving is not just Weaving, I am making cloth, that is an external act, but at the same time something is going on in me, which you cannot see, that is my meditation." How can a weaver work through the to become a meditator? If the quality of mind brought to weaving is meditative, then that act is irrelevant, it is irrelevant.

Another mystic was a potter, his name was GoA ra, and he was making clay pots, and while he was making pots, he would dance and sing, and when he was making a pot on a wheel, when the The pot is concentrated on the wheel, and he is concentrated in himself. The outsider sees only one thing: the wheel is moving, the pot is forming, and he is centering the pot, and you only see one centering and the other centering happening at the same time: He is also centering at the same time. When he is centering that jar, when he is helping that jar to take shape, he is also taking shape in the invisible world of inner consciousness at the same time, when that jar is created, that is not really what he is doing, in fact, He is also creating himself.

Any action can become meditative, and once you know how one action becomes meditative, you can make all your actions meditative. Then the whole life becomes yoga.Walking on the street, or working in an office, or just sitting and doing nothing, just being idle, or whatever, you can become meditative. So, remember: meditation doesn't belong to the act, it belongs to the quality you bring to that act, and now we're going to get into the techniques. First trick: Just as waves follow water and fire follows fire, so the waves of the universe follow us. "Just as the wave follows the water, and the fire follows the fire, so the wave of the universe follows us." First try to understand what the wave is, and then you will be able to feel how awareness of this wave can help you enter meditation. You've seen waves in the ocean, they appear, in a sense they exist, but in a deeper sense they don't exist, that's the first thing to know about waves .The wave appears, in a sense it exists, but in a deeper sense it does not exist, in a deeper sense only the ocean exists. The wave cannot exist without the ocean, even when the wave is there, only the ocean exists, the wave is only a form, not the substance, the ocean is the substance, the wave is only a form.

A lot of problems arise because of the language, because we say "wave", so the wave looks like something, and it must be better if we don't use wave, but "wave".There are no waves, only fluctuations, and fluctuations are only an activity, not a thing; only an activity, not a substance; only a process, not a substance. That matter is the ocean, and the waves are just the form, and the ocean can be still. The waves will disappear, but the ocean remains. The ocean can be still or moving, or have a lot of activity, or there can be no activity, but you cannot find a wave of stillness, the wave is activity, not substance, when the activity is there, the wave is there, it is It is a wave, a movement, a movement in a simple form, but when silence comes, when inactivity comes, that wave is no longer there, but the ocean is still there, and in both cases the ocean is real, the wave Just a form of play, the waves come and go, but the ocean remains.

Second, waves appear as individuals, each with its own personality—unique, unlike any other, and no two waves are alike. Some waves are big, some waves are small, they have their own unique characteristics, each wave has its own characteristics, of course, each wave is different from other waves, maybe a wave will rise, And another wave will pass away. When one wave is rising, the other is disappearing, it cannot be both the same. One is rising and the other is disappearing, but the reality behind both of them is the same, they look different, they look separate, they look individual, but that look is deceiving , in the depths, only the oceans exist, and no matter how unrelated they may seem, in fact, they are related. When one wave is rising and another wave is passing away, you may not see any relationship between them, that relationship may not arise, because how can a rising wave relate to a passing wave?

An old man is dying and a child is born, how are they related? If they are related, the two of them will die together, or they will be born together.Children are born and old people die; one wave is passing away and the other is rising, but the rising wave may be powered by the disappearing wave, and the disappearing wave may be energized by its passing away. Help another wave to rise, the disappearing wave may be the cause of the rising wave. Deep down, they are all related to the same ocean, they are not different, they are not unrelated, they are not separate, their individuality is false, illusory, they are "non-individual", their dichotomy Sex makes it seem like they are two individuals, but they are not, their non-duality is the truth.

Now I'm going to read that passage again: "Just as the wave follows the water and the fire follows the fire, so the cosmic wave follows us." We are just waves in the cosmic ocean, meditate on it, let the feeling go deep inside you, start feeling Your breath rises like a wave, you inhale, you exhale, the breath that enters you was someone else's breath one moment ago, and the breath that leaves you the next moment will be someone else's breath .Breath is just a wave in the ocean of life, you are not separate, you are not just waves, you are one in depth, we are together, individuality is false, illusory, therefore the ego is the only obstacle.Individuality is false, it appears to exist, but it is not real, the real is impersonal, oceanic, together. That's why every religion is against the attitude of egoism, the one who says there is no God may not be irreligious, but the one who says "I am" is irreligious. Buddha is an atheist, he doesn't believe in any god; Mahavira is an atheist, he doesn't believe in any god, but they both achieved, they all achieved, they achieved totality and wholeness. If you don't believe in any god, you are probably not non-religious, because God is not the essential element of religion, the "not-self" is the essential element of religion, and even if you believe in God with an egoist mind, you Be non-religious, with a non-egoist mind there is no need to believe in God, you will naturally fall into divinity.Without ego, you cannot cling to the waves. You must fall into the ocean. With ego you go on clinging to the waves, see life as an ocean, and feel yourself like a wave, let this feeling come into you. You can use this technique in many ways, as you breathe, feel the ocean breathing inside you, the ocean coming to you, out, in, out, with each inhale feel a wave rising, With each exhalation, feel a wave disappearing, and in between, who are you?Just a emptiness, a shunya, a emptiness, with that feeling of emptiness you transform, with that feeling of emptiness all your misery disappears, because misery needs a center - a false The center, and that emptiness is your real center, and with its presence, there is no misery, you are in a deep ease, because you do not exist, who is going to be nervous? You are blissful, not that you are blissful, because you do not exist, so only bliss exists, without you can you create misery? That's why Buddha never said: In that state, in that ultimate state, there will be ananda -- bliss. He never said that, he said: there will be no misery, that's it, talking about bliss might mislead you, so Buddha said: don't ask for bliss, just try to understand how you can exist without misery, that means : How can you exist without yourself. Where is our problem? The problem is: the wave thinks that it is separate from the ocean, then there will be a problem, if a wave thinks that it is separate from the ocean, the fear of death will immediately enter, that wave has to disappear, and that wave can see until all around it are vanishing waves. You cannot deceive yourself for long, that wave sees other waves passing away, and therefore that wave knows that even though it is rising, death is hidden somewhere, because those other waves were rising a moment ago, and Now it is falling, disappearing, so you will eventually die.If the wave thinks itself separate from the ocean, then sooner or later the fear of death must arise, but if the wave knows that it does not exist, only the ocean exists, then there is no fear of death.Only the waves are mortal, not the ocean.I will die, but life will not die.You will die, you will die, but the universe will not die, existence will not die, existence continues to wave, it waves in you, it will wave in others, and when your wave is going to disappear, by With your disappearance, other waves will rise and the ocean will go on. Once you separate yourself from the waves and become one with the ocean, with the formless, feel one, and achieve oneness with it, then there is no death for you, otherwise the fear of death will produce misery, In every pain, in every excruciating pain, in every anxiety, the basic fear is the fear of death. You are afraid, you are trembling, you may not be aware of it, but if you go deep inside you will find that every moment there is a tremor because you are going to die. You can create a lot of security, you can create a blockhouse around you, but nothing will help, nothing will help, dust on top of other dust! (The waves behind the Yangtze River push the waves ahead!) You will wither.Have you ever observed, or meditated on, a fact? When you are just walking on the road, the dust sticks to your shoes, that dust may be the body of Napoleon, or the body of Alexander, somewhere at present Alexander is just dust, and the dust that sticks to your body may have been It is the body of Alexander the Great. It will be the same with you, now you are here, the next moment you will not be there, it will be the same with you!Sooner or later that dust will stick to the other dust and the waves will disappear.Fear will take hold of you.Just imagine yourself as dust piled on top of someone else's shoe, or imagine some potter making you into a pot, your body, your lover's body into a pot, or imagine yourself entering a In a worm, or into a tree, this kind of thing is happening.Everything is a form, and form must die, only the formless is eternal, if you cling to form, if you identify yourself with form, if you feel yourself as a wave form, then you It's you who's getting into trouble. You are the ocean, not the waves. This meditation can help, it can transform you, it can become a mutation, but spread it all over your life, think of it when you breathe, think of it when you eat, When walking, think about it.Think of two things: the form is always the wave and the formless is always the ocean, the formless is immortal and the form is mortal, not that one day you will die, you are dying every day .Childhood dies, then youth is born, then youth dies, old age is born, then old age dies, the form disappears. Every moment you are dying and becoming something else, something else is born, your first day is not the only first day you are born, it is just your life for many lifetimes to come Part of it, and your death in this life is not the first death, it is just the death of this life. You have been dying before, every moment something is dying and something else is living, a part of you is dying and another part is living. Physiologists say nothing old stays in your body in seven years, everything changes, every cell changes, if you live seventy years, your body will be over and over again Renew ten times, every seven years you get a new body, not suddenly, every moment something changes. You are a wave and that is not real, you are changing every moment, the wave cannot be static, the wave must change, the wave must always move, there cannot be a phenomenon of a wave that does not move, how can there be that phenomenon? ?A wave that doesn't move is meaningless. There is movement, there is process, you are a process, a movement, if you identify with this movement and process, and think that you are limited to life and death, then you will be in misery, then you see the appearance Into a real existence, this is what Shankara calls "mayor" - illusion. The ocean is Brahman, the ocean is truth. So, think of yourself as a wave, or as a continuum of rising or falling waves, and just be a witness of this phenomenon, and you can't do anything, the waves will disappear, what appears will disappear, you There is nothing to be done about it, every effort is absolutely useless, there is only one thing to do, and that is to watch this wave form, and once you become a watcher, suddenly you become aware of something beyond the wave. Something outside the wave, something beyond the wave, something in the wave and outside the wave, something that forms the wave and is beyond the wave, and that is the ocean. "Just as waves follow water, and fire follows fire, so the waves of the universe follow us." The waves of the universe follow us.You are not, the universe is, and it waves through us, feel it, contemplate it, meditate on it, let it happen to you in many, many ways. I told you about breathing.Sexual desire arises in you, feel it, don't feel it as your desire, just feel it as the ocean rippling in you, just feel it as life pulsating, just feel it as life generating in you a wave. You meet in an act of love, don't think of it as two waves meeting, don't think of it as two individuals meeting, but think of it as two individuals merging into each other, there is no longer two The individual, the wave has disappeared and only the ocean remains, then the sexual act becomes a meditation.Whatever happens to you, don't feel as if it is happening to you, but as if it is happening to the universe and you are just a part of it, just a wave on the surface.Leave everything to the universe. There is a Zen master named Dogen. When he feels hungry, he will say: "It seems that the universe feels hungry through me." When he feels thirsty, he will say: "Existence feels thirsty through me. "Meditation is what leads you to this state, and then everything dissolves from your ego and becomes part of the universe, then whatever happens is happening in the universe itself, you are no longer here, then No guilt, no responsibility. I am not saying that you will become irresponsible, I am not saying that you will become a sinner, that evil will become impossible, because evil can only happen around the ego. There will be no responsibility, because responsibility can only happen around the ego.Only you are, so to whom can you be accountable? So that if you see somebody dying, you feel like you are following him, you are dying in him, the whole universe is dying and you are a part of it.If you see certain flowers blooming, you will bloom with it, and now the whole universe becomes you, to exist in such a deep intimacy and harmony is to exist in samadhi. Meditation is the way, and this harmony of being one, this feeling of being one with everything is the end, the goal.try it!Remember the ocean, forget the waves.Whenever you remember a wave and start acting like a wave, remember that you are doing something wrong and you will suffer because of it. No god is punishing you.Whenever you fall prey to some kind of illusion, you are punishing yourself. The law (Dharma), the Tao is there, if your actions are in harmony with it, you feel joy; if your actions are against it, you feel yourself in pain; there is no one sitting in heaven to punish You, your sins are not recorded, that is not needed, it is like gravity, if you walk right, gravity is a help, without it you cannot walk, if you walk wrong you will It will fall, you may break a bone, but no one is punishing you, it's just the law of the universe, it's just gravity, it's "inhuman" gravity. If you go wrong and fall, you will break a bone, if you go right you can use gravity, that energy can be used wrongly or rightly. When you feel yourself as a wave, you are violating the laws of the universe, you are violating the real being, then you will create misery for yourself, that's what the "law of karma" means.Without a "law-giver", God is not a judge. It is ugly to be a judge, and if God were a judge, he must be very bored, or must have gone mad by now.It is not a judge, it is not a giver of laws, the universe has its own laws, and the fundamental law is: to be real is to be in joy, to be unreal is to be in misery. Second trick: Wherever your mind wanders inwards or outwards, there is this place, this! "Wherever your mind wanders inwardly or outwardly, there is this place, this!" The mind is the door -- it is the mind.Wherever it wanders, whatever it is thinking, brooding, dreaming, just this mind, just this moment, is the door. This is a very revolutionary approach, because we never thought that the normal mind was the door, we thought that some kind of super-mind, like the mind of Buddha or Jesus, to get in, we thought they had some kind of super-human mind.It is this mind that you have, this mind that goes on dreaming, that goes on imagining thoughts, related or not, this mind that is full of ugly desires, passions, anger, greed and all that is condemned, that is beyond your control , pulling you east and west, pushing you here and there, often a madhouse mind, that's the mind, the scriptures say, it's the door.Wherever your mind wanders, wherever, remember: the object is irrelevant, wherever your mind wanders, inside or outside, there is, "This!" There are many things that must be understood, first, the ordinary mind is not as ordinary as we think, the ordinary mind is not unrelated to the universal mind, it is a part of it, its roots go deep into the center of existence, otherwise you cannot exist, even the sinner is rooted in the divine, otherwise he cannot exist, and even if the devil exists, he cannot exist without the support of the divine. Existence itself is possible only because it is rooted in everyone.Your mind is dreaming, imagining, wandering, tense, in agony, in misery, however it moves, wherever it moves, it stays rooted in the Whole, otherwise it is Impossible, you cannot be out of Being, that is impossible, in this very moment you are rooted in it. So what to do?If at this very moment we are rooted in it, then it looks like nothing to do in the egoist mind, we are already divinity, so why make a fuss about it?You are rooted in divinity, but you are not aware of the fact that when the mind is wandering, there are two things -- the mind and the wandering; the objects in the mind and the mind itself; the clouds floating in the sky and the sky itself. There are two things: clouds and sky. Sometimes there may be a situation where there are many clouds in the sky and then the sky disappears, you can't see the sky, but even if you can't see it, it doesn't disappear, it can't disappear, there is no way to make the sky disappear, It is there, whether it is hidden or not, visible or invisible, it is always there. But the clouds are there too, if you pay attention to the clouds, the sky disappears, if you pay attention to the sky, then the clouds are only sporadic, they come and go, you don't have to worry about them, they come and go, they are always there Come and go, they have not destroyed the sky in the slightest, they have not polluted the sky in the slightest, they have not even touched the sky, the sky remains virgin. When your mind is wandering, there are two things: one is the cloud, the thought, the object, the image, and the other is consciousness, the mind itself. If you pay too much attention to those clouds, to those objects, to those thoughts, to those images, then you forget the sky, you forget the master and become too preoccupied with the guest. Those thoughts, images, wanderings, etc., are just guests, and if you concentrate yourself on the guest, you forget your own nature.Change the focus of your attention, from guest to host, from cloud to sky, and do it practically. A sexual desire arises, which is a cloud, or greed to have a bigger house arises, which is also a cloud, and your mind becomes so possessed that you completely forget who it is rising to What happened, to whom, who was behind it?In what sky is this cloud moving?Remember that sky, suddenly, that cloud will disappear, you just have to change your focus, from object to subject, from outside to inside, from cloud to sky, from guest to host, just change the focus . Zen Master Linji was giving a sermon, and a man from the crowd said, "Just answer me one question, who am I?" Linji stopped talking, and everyone was paying attention, not knowing what he was going to give Answer! But the man didn't answer, he stepped down from his chair and walked up to the man's ear, all the crowd was watching very alertly, they didn't even dare to breathe, what the hell was he going to do, he should have been able to get out of the chair while answering without needing to step down. The man became frightened and Zen Master Linji walked up to him with piercing eyes. He grabbed the man by the collar, shocked him a bit, and told him, "Close your eyes! Remember, who is that?" Asking the question of who am I?" The man closed his eyes, of course he was afraid, and he went inside to find out who asked the question, and then he didn't come back.Everyone is waiting, waiting, waiting. His face became very peaceful, very composed, almost completely still, and then Zen Master Linji had to shake him again: "Now come out and tell everyone who I am!" The man started laughing and said, "This What an amazing way to answer, but now if someone asked me, I would do the same, I can't answer." It's just a change of focus, you ask the question "Who am I?" and your mind is focused on the question, and the answer is hidden in the questioner behind that question, change that focus, come back to yourself. This passage says, "Wherever your mind wanders inwards or outwards, there is this place, this!" Move from the object to the mind itself, and then you are no longer an ordinary mind.Because of the object you become ordinary, when you come back to the mind itself, suddenly you yourself become a buddha, you are already a buddha, just covered by many clouds, you are not only covered by those clouds , you are still attached to your clouds, you don't allow them to move, you think those clouds are your property, you think the more you have the better, you think the more you have, the richer you are, and your whole sky , The whole space is just hidden. In a way, it has disappeared into the cloud, and the cloud has become your life, and the life belonging to the cloud is the world. This change of focus can even happen instantly, it always happens instantly, I'm not saying you don't have to do anything and then it happens suddenly, you have to do a lot, but it never happens gradually, you have to do Do it and do it and do it and then one day, suddenly, a moment comes when you are at the temperature where it is evaporating, and suddenly the water is gone, it has evaporated.Suddenly you are not inside the object, your eyes are not focused on the cloud, suddenly you have turned inward, into the inner space. It never happens gradually, it never says that one part of your eye has turned inward and the other part follows the cloud outside, no!It doesn't happen in percentages, it doesn't say: now you have become ten percent inside and ninety percent outside, or twenty percent inside and eighty percent Externally, no!When it happens, it happens one hundred percent, because your focus cannot be separated, either you see the object, or you see yourself; either the world, or Brahman. You can go back to the world, you can change your focus again, you are the master, really, only if you can change your focus as you like, then you are the master. I remember a Tibetan mystic named Mapa (Marpa), when he becomes enlightened, when he becomes a Buddha, when he turns inward, when he touches the inner space, touches the infinite, and someone asks him: "Marpa, how are you now?" Marpa's The answer was very special, unexpected. No Buddha ever answered like that. Mapa said, "Same misery as before." The man was confused and said, "Same misery as before?" But Mapa Laughing, he said, "Yes, but there is a difference, and that difference is: now the misery is within my own control, and sometimes my mind moves outward just to get a taste of the world, but Now I am the master, and at any moment I can go inward, and it is good to move between the poles, so that one remains alive and moves wherever I want!" said Mapa: "Now I can move, sometimes I go into misery, but now that misery is not something that happens to me, but I happen to them, but I remain unmoved." Of course, when you move voluntarily, You will be able to remain unmoved. Once you know how to change your focus to the inside, you will be able to go back to the world, every buddha has gone back to the world, he will also focus on the outside, but then that inner person has got a different quality , he knows that's his focus, these clouds are allowed to move, these clouds are not masters, they can't dominate you, you allow them to exist, and that's beautiful, sometimes, when the sky is full of clouds, that's It is beautiful, the movement of the clouds is beautiful, if the sky keeps itself, it can make the clouds move.Problems arise only when the sky forgets itself and only the clouds exist. Then everything becomes ugly because that freedom has disappeared.
