你的不快乐是因为你选择了一个错误的态度来面对生命,如果你选择了一个正确的态度,你就能够快乐。佛陀非常注意,正确的态度",什么是正确的态度?原则在哪里?对我来说,原则就是:使你快乐的态度就是正确的态度,关于这一点没有客观的原则。使你不快乐和悲惨的态度就是错误的态度,这个原则是主观的,你的快乐就是原则。 The third trick: oh!所钟爱的,不要注意在欢乐上,也不要注意在痛苦上,而要注意在这两者之间。 "喔!所钟爱的,不要注意在欢乐上,也不要注意在痛苦上,而要注意在这两者之间。"每一件事都是有极性的,而头脑由一极移到另一极,它从来不停留在中间,你曾经知道过任何既非快乐亦非不快乐的片刻吗?你曾经知道过任何既非这个亦非那个,当你只是在两者之间,当你只是在中间,当你就在中间的片刻吗?头脑很快地由一端移到另一端。如果你是快乐的,迟早你会移到不快乐,而且你会移动得很快,快乐将会消失,然后你就变成不快乐。 如果你觉得很好,迟早你会觉得不好,没有一个点让你停留在两者之间,你很快地从这一点移到那一点,就好像一个古老时钟的钟摆,你从左边移到右边,从右边移到左边,那个钟摆继续在摆动。这是一个秘密的法则:当钟摆跑到左边,它看起来似乎是跑到左边,但它是在聚集要跑到右边的动量,当它跑到左边,这是在聚集能量、聚集动量要跑到右边;当它跑到右边,它是在聚集动量要跑到左边,因此,所显示出来的并不是整体。当你正在变成快乐,你是在聚集动量去成为不快乐,所以每当我看到你在笑,你就已经离哭泣不很远了。 在印度的乡村里,母亲知道这个,所以当一个小孩子开始笑得太过分,她们会说:"停止他,否则他将会哭。"它一定是如此,如果一个小孩子太高兴,下一步就只能不高兴,所以她们阻止他,否则他将会变得不高兴,但是同样的情形可以应用到它的反面,这一点是不为人所知的,如果一个小孩子在哭,而你试着去阻止他,你不只是阻止他的哭泣,你同时阻止了他的下一步,如此一来,他就不能够快乐了,当一个小孩子在哭,要让他哭,帮助他哭得更多,为的是当哭泣结束,他就已经聚集了动量,现在他能够移到右边,他能够快乐。 现在心理分析学家说:当一个小孩子在哭泣或是在尖叫,不要阻止他,不要试着去说服他,不要转移他的注意力,不要试着去使他的头脑集中在另外的地方,不要贿赂他,使他停止,不要做任何事,只要在他旁边保持沉默,让他哭泣、尖叫,为的是使他能够很容易进入快乐,否则他将既不能够哭泣,也不能够快乐,我们就是都变成这样,我们什么事都做不好,我们的微笑不热心,我们的眼泪也不尽心,每一件事都是混乱。 但这是头脑自然的法则,它从一端移到另一端,这个技巧就是要去改变这个自然的法则:"喔!所钟爱的,不要注意在欢乐上,也不要注意在痛苦上,而要注意在这两者之间。"我们可以选择任何两极,而去尝试就停留在两者之间,你要怎么做才能够停留在两者中间?你要怎样去处于两者中间?有一件事:当痛苦存在,你能做什么?当痛苦存在,你想要去逃离它,你不想要它,你试着去远离它,你的努力是:走到另一个极端——成为快乐的、成为欢欣的。 当快乐来临的时候,你怎么做呢?你的努力就是去执著于它,为的是让另外一端可以不要进入。你执著于它!当快乐来临的时候,你执著;当痛苦来临的时候,你逃避。这是自然的态度,如果你想要改变这个自然的法则,而且超越它,那么,当痛苦来临的时候,不要试着去逃避,跟它在一起,你将会扰乱整个自然的运作过程。当你头痛,停留在头痛,闭起你的眼睛,静心冥想那个头痛,跟它在一起,不要做任何事,只要成为一个观照,不要试着去逃避。 当快乐来临,当你觉得在某一个片刻特别高兴,不要执著于它,闭起你的眼睛,成为它全部的一个观照,执著或逃避对于一个覆盖着灰尘的头脑而言是自然的,如果你保持观照,迟早你将会掉在两者之间,因为自然法则就是移到两极,移到相反的极端,如果你保持观照,你就会停留在两者之间。 佛陀将他的整个哲学称为"玛吉姆尼卡亚"(Majjhim Nikaya)——中道,是由于这个技巧的缘故,他说:永远停留在中间,不管两极如何,永远停留在中间,藉着观照,一个人可以停留在中间,当你失去了你的观照时,你或者变成执著,或者变成排斥,如果你排斥,你就会跑到另外一个极端;如果你执著,你就会试着去停留在这个极端;但是你永远不会在两者之间。只要成为一个观照,不要排斥。头痛存在,接受它,它以一个事实存在,就好像一棵树存在,就好像房子存在,就好像夜晚存在,头痛也存在,接受它,闭起你的眼睛,不要试着去逃避它。 当你是快乐的,接受那个事实,不要执著于它,不要试着不去变成不快乐,不要试着去做任何事。如果不快乐来临,就让它来临;如果快乐来临,也让它来临;只要成为一个站在山上的观照者,只要看着事情:早晨来临,然后晚上来临;日升,然后日落;夜晚降临、星星出现,然后太阳再度升起,而你只是一个在山上的观看者,你无法做任何事,你只是看。早晨来临,你注意到那个事实,现在你知道晚上将会来临,因为傍晚跟随着早晨。当晚上来临,你注意到那个事实,而你知道早晨将会来临,因为早晨跟随着晚上。 当痛苦来临,你只成为一个观照者,你知道痛苦来临,而迟早它将会走,相反的极端将会来临。当快乐来临,你知道它将不会永远停留,不快乐将会停留在某一个地方,它将会来临;你保持是一个观照者,如果你能够观看而不要有吸引,也不要有排斥,你将会落在两者的中间,一旦那个钟摆停留在中间,你就首度地能够看到这个世界是什么。 当你在移动,你无法知道世界是什么,你的移动混乱了每一样东西,一旦你不移动,你就能够注视这个世界。人生第一次,你知道了真实的存在是什么,一个不动的头脑知道真实的存在是什么,一个移动的头脑无法知道真实的存在是什么。你的头脑就好像一个照相机,你继续移动和拍照,但是任何你所照的都是一片混乱,因为照相机不能够动,如果照相机在动,照片将只是一片混乱。 你的意识由一个钟摆移动到另外一个钟摆,而任何你所知道的事实都只是一片混乱、一个恶梦,你不知道什么是什么,每一样东西都混乱了,错过了。如果你停留在中间,而那个钟摆已经停止,如果你的意识集中在一个焦点、归于中心,那么你就知道真实的存在是什么,唯有一个不动的头脑才能够知道"真理"是什么,"喔!所钟爱的,不要注意在欢乐上,也不要注意在痛苦上,而要注意在这两者之间。" 第四个技巧: 目标和欲望存在于我里面就好像存在于别人里面一样,所以,接受,让它们被转变。 "目标和欲望存在于我里面就好像存在于别人里面一样,所以,接受,让它们被转变。"这个技巧能够非常有帮助,当你在生气,你总是认为你有正当的理由;但是当别人生气,你总是在批评。你的疯狂是自然的,而别人的疯狂是"异常的",任何你所做的都是好的,而即使它不是好的,它也是"需要去做的",你总是会为它找到某种合理化的解释。 别人也是这样做,但是当别人这样做的时候,你就不会给他同样合理化的解释,如果你生气,你说那是为了要去帮助别人;如果你不生气,别人一定会被毁灭,他一定会养成一个坏习惯,所以惩罚他是"好的",那是为他"好";但是当某人对你生气,同样的合理化解释就不适用了,他的生气是"疯的",他是"坏的"。 我们采用双重标准:一个标准给自己,另一个标准给其他每一个人;这种双重标准的头脑将会永远处于深深的悲惨之中,这种头脑是不公正的。除非你的头脑是公正的,否则你无法瞥见真理,唯有公正的头脑能够脱离这种双重标准。耶稣说:"不要对别人做你不喜欢别人对你做的事。"这意味着需要一个类似的标准,这个技巧是基于一个标准的概念: "目标和欲望存在于我里面,就好像存在于别人里面一样……"你不是例外的,虽然每一个人都认为他是例外的。如果你认为你是例外的,那么你就要知道每一个平凡的头脑都这样认为,"知道一个人是平凡的"是世界上最不平凡的。 有人问史史奇关于他的老师:"史史奇,你的老师有什么特别?"史史奇是一个禅师,所以他说:"唯一我永远不能忘记的是,我从来没有看过一个认为他自己很平凡的人,他只是很平凡,而那就是最不平凡的事,因为每一个平凡的头脑都认为他是例外的,不平凡的。" 但是没有一个人是不平凡的,如果你知道这个,你就变成不平凡了,每一个人就好像其他每一个人一样。围绕着你的欲望跟围绕着其他每一个人的欲望都是同样的,但是你把你的性称做爱,而把别人的爱称做性。任何你所做的,你都保护它,你说它是好的,所以你才做它,而同样的事由别人来做就"不一样了"。 世界上每一个政府都称它的军事机构为"防卫"机构,那么是谁在攻击?如果每一个人都在防卫,那么谁是侵略者?如果你读历史,你无法找出任何一个侵略者,当然,打败的一方就被证明是侵略者,打败的一方总是被证明是侵略者,因为他们无法写历史,历史是由胜利的人所写的。 没有一个人是不同的!一个宗教的头脑知道每一个人都是相同的,所以如果你给你自己合理化的解释,请你也给别人同样的合理化解释;如果你批评别人,那么对你自己也要使用同样的批评,不要创造出双重标准,单一标准将会完全改变你的存在,因为只用一个标准,你就变成公正的,当你变公正,你就能够直接看到真实存在本然的样子。"目标和欲望存在于我里面就好像存在于别人里面一样,所以,接受,让它们被转变。"接受它们,然后它们就会被转变(改变)。 我们是怎么做的呢?我们接受说目标和欲望存在于别人里面,任何错误的都存在于别人里面,而任何正确的都存在于你里面,那么你怎么能够被改变?你已经被改变,你认为你已经很好,而其他每一个人都很坏,世界需要改变,而不是你需要改变,那就是为什么总是有领导者、社会运动和先知,他们不断从屋顶上叫喊着要改变世界,要创造一个革命,而我们一直在革命又革命,但是到头来还是没有什么改变。 人类还是维持一样,地球还是停留在原来的悲惨之中,只有外表和标签改变,但是悲惨依然继续。问题不在于如何去改变世界,世界并没有什么不对,是你不对,问题在于如何自己改变自己。"如何改变自己"是宗教的诉求,"如何改变其他每一个人"是政治的,但是政客认为他没有问题,事实上,他是整个世界应该怎么样的模范,他是模范!他是理想!改变整体要靠他。 一个具有宗教性的人在其他每一个人里面所看到的任何什么,他都同时在他自己里面看到。如果有暴力,他立刻怀疑,是否那个暴力也存在于他里面,如果有贪婪?如果他在哪一个地方看到贪婪,他的第一个反应就是:同样的贪婪有没有在他里面?他追寻越多,就越发现他是所有罪恶的泉源,那么,问题就不在于如何改变这个世界,问题在于如何改变自己。当你接受单一标准时,那个改变就开始了,你就已经在改变了。 不要谴责别人,我的意思不是说要谴责你自己,不!只是不要谴责别人,而如果你不谴责别人,你对他们会有很深的同情,因为你也有同样的问题,如果某人犯下一个罪恶,犯下一个社会的眼光中看起来是罪恶的罪恶,你就开始谴责他,而从来没有想到,在你里面也有犯同样罪恶的种子。如果某人犯了谋杀罪,你就谴责他,但你不也是一直在想杀人吗?潜在的种子不也是一直在那里吗?一个杀人者在一个片刻之前也不是一个杀人者,一个片刻之后,谁知道会怎样?你或许也会变成一个杀人者,所以不要谴责他,宁可接受他,那么你就会感觉对他有一个深深的同情,因为任何他所做的,人都可能做,你也可能做。 一个不谴责的头脑会有怜悯,一个不谴责的头脑会有深深的接受,他知道人类就是这样,而我也是这样,那么整个世界就变成你自己本身的一个反映,它就变成一面镜子,那么每一张脸对你来讲都变成一面镜子,你在每一张脸里面看到你自己。 "目标和欲望存在于我里面就好像存在于别人里面一样,所以,接受,让它们被转变。"接受形成转变,这是难以了解的,因为我们总是在拒绝它,没有人会认为他自己是贪婪的。你有性欲,但是你拒绝它,没有人要去感觉他自己是有性欲的。你在生气,你有愤怒,但是你拒绝它,你创造出一个假面具,而且你试着去为它辩护,你从来没有感觉你是愤怒的,或者你就是愤怒。 然而拒绝从来不会改变任何事情,它只是压抑,而那个被压抑的就变得更强而有力,它进入到你的根部,进入到你深处的无意识,然后它开始从那里产生作用,从那个无意识的深处,它变得更强而有力,这样一来,你更无法接受它,因为你甚至没有意识到它。"接受"把一样东西带上来,不需要压抑。 你知道你是贪婪的,你知道你有愤怒,你知道你有性欲,那么就以自然的事实来接受它们,不要有任何谴责,不需要去压抑它们,它们会来到头脑的表面,而它们可以很容易地从头脑的表面被抛弃,当它们在表面,你总是会觉知到它们,但是当它们在潜意识里,你就不会觉知到。一个你有觉知到的病是可以治愈的,一个你没有觉知到的病是无法被治愈的。 将每一样东西都带到表面来,接受你的人性,也接受你的兽性,任何存在的东西都要毫无谴责地接受它,它在那里,要觉知到它。贪婪存在,不要试着去使它变成非贪婪,这你是做不到的,而如果你试着使它变成非贪婪,你将只是在压抑它,你的非贪婪将只是另外一种形式的贪婪,而不是另外的东西,不要试着去将这改变成其他的东西,你无法改变它,如果你试着想要去改变贪婪,你会怎么做呢?如果透过贪婪而能够达到某种进一步的贪婪,那么贪婪的头脑就会被非贪婪的理想所吸引。 当某人说:"如果你留下你所有的财富,你将会被允许进入我神的王国。"那么你将甚至可以抛弃你所有的财富,那么,进一步的贪婪就变得可能,这是一项交易,贪婪不必去变成非贪婪,贪婪是要被超越的,你无法改变它。 一个暴力的头脑怎么能够变成非暴力?如果你强迫你自己变成非暴力,这将是对你自己的暴力。你无法将一个改变成另外一个,你只能觉知和接受,按照贪婪本然的样子来接受它,接受并不是意味着不需要去改变它,接受只是意味着你接受事实,接受自然的事实,按照事情本然的样子来接受,然后进入生命,清楚地知道贪婪是存在的,做任何你在做的,记得很清楚说贪婪是存在的,这个觉知将会改变你,它能够改变你是因为当你有知,你无法贪婪;当你有知,你无法生气。要愤怒、要贪婪、要暴力的话,不觉知是一个基本需要,就好像你不会有知地服下毒药,就好像你不会有知地将你的手放进火焰,在不知不觉当中,你会将你的手放在火焰上,如果你不知道火焰是什么、火是什么,你会将你的手放进它里面,但是如果你知道火会烧人,你就不会将你的手放进它里面。你的"有知"越成长,贪婪就越变成是一个火,愤怒就越变成是毒素,它们就会变得不可能,不必有任何压抑,它们就消失了。当没有任何非贪婪的理想,而贪婪能够消失,它不有它本身的美;当不必使你变成非暴力,而暴力能够消失,它就有它本身的美。 否则一个非暴力的人具有深度的暴力倾向,那个暴力是隐藏的,从他的非暴力,你也可以瞥见他的暴力,他会以一种极为暴力的方式将他的非暴力强加在他自己身上,以及强加在别人身上,这么一来,那个暴力已经变微妙了。 这段经文说:接受就是蜕变,因为透过接受,觉知才变得可能。
