The process of human evolution is the process of consciousness development.A tree is more conscious than a stone; an animal is more conscious than a tree; a man is more conscious than an animal; an enlightened man is more conscious than a man.Buddhahood, Christ Consciousness, Enlightenment, they all refer to the same thing: the flowering of full consciousness.Matter is totally unconscious; an enlightened being is fully awake.Man is in between: neither this nor that.He lives in a state of no up and down, no longer an animal, nor a god; no longer what he was, nor what he could be. There are people. The unconscious evolution ends, Osho tells us, "and the conscious evolution begins. But the conscious evolution doesn't have to start with any particular person. It begins when you choose to begin it."

Life means movement. It cannot stay under our feet.Either we evolve to a higher level of consciousness, or we regress back. The choice is ours.We cannot but choose.Even not choosing is a delicate choice. Most people seek to forget: to return to a state of unconsciousness. They seek it through alcohol and drugs, through work, through sex, through sensual stimulation.Only a select few choose to embark on the journey to higher consciousness.Osho's lectures in this book (Mystic Psychology) are aimed at these few. He started where Western psychology left off.He went further than Freud, than Jung, than various new understandings of human potential activity. If Freud's psychology is pathological psychology.Maslow's psychology is the psychology of healthy people. Then the psychology of Osho is the psychology of enlightenment and the psychology of Buddhism. Osho is not only a master of enlightenment, but also a master of psychology. He peels away layer by layer our existence. To reveal the hidden depths of our hearts. He starts with the physical and goes step by step to the transcendent. He speaks from the known to the unknowable. He speaks from where we stand to where we can be. "In the East, he said: It's not a question of psychology. It's an existential question. It's not a question of mental health. Rather, it's a question of spiritual growth. It's not what you do; it's you what is it.

Osho is talking in these speeches no less than the creation of a new human being. His whole effort is to create an atmosphere in which Buddhaland can gradually blossom. For it to happen, he said.We must accept the whole of man.Neither reason nor irrationality can be denied; neither intellect nor emotion can be denied; neither science nor religion can be denied. One must remain fluid, be able to move from one pole to the other. The mind must be trained logically, rationally. " he said; but it must at the same time be trained in irrational - irrational - meditation. Reason must be trained, and emotion must be trained at the same time. Doubt must be trained, and trust must be trained at the same time. Doubt must be There, too, is trust. People who deny rationality and who deny irrationality are not growing. You cannot grow unless you grow completely.

Osho is not a philosopher. His words are not meant to stuff our heads with more knowledge. They are meant to push us to experience directly that which is beyond language. They are meant to push us toward our own inner evolution.Towards the ultimate realization of our potential, of the possibility of the seed.
