Chapter 11 The second part of Taoist "Book of Changes" and Chinese medical theory-1

The research on Chinese Taoist Yi-ology and medical theory is a treasure of Chinese culture. I have long hoped to combine traditional Chinese medicine, western medicine and scientific circles for research. On the one hand, it is to expound the inherent and great Chinese applied philosophy; a contribution. Yi Xue and Chinese Medicine How much does the truth have to do with Chinese medical science? This is a very strange question. Speaking of it, there is not much direct relationship between medical theory and Yi Xue. You will definitely say, since there is not much relationship, what else is there to study? This is about Taoism.

Before the Qin and Han Dynasties, during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there were so-called "alchemists" in Taoism, who emphasized cultivating Taoism and alchemy. The development of these thoughts of Dan Taoism is deduced from the principles of Taoism, that is to say, their thoughts are in harmony with and. After the Han Dynasty, the philosophical thinking of Chinese medicine also underwent evolution, and with the influence of Taoism, medical principles were interpreted in terms of principles. That is to say, through the indirect relationship, the Chinese medical philosophy thought is built on the foundation.

The characteristic of Chinese culture is that it emphasizes abstraction and mysticism. This is exactly the study of wisdom, but it also adds many difficulties in learning, research and understanding. In the 5000 years of Chinese medical history, many schools have developed more and more miraculously, which seems to have entered the scope of pure philosophy, but its practical application value is very doubtful. Therefore, we can say that there is only a metaphysical philosophical relationship between Yi Xue and medical principles, but there are serious problems in the application of metaphysical laws.

Taoism and Chinese Medicine If you want to ask what is most closely related to Chinese medical theory, the impact of Taoist alchemy on medical theory is far greater than that of Yi Xue. When it comes to this issue, we have to admit the special temperament and majestic spirit of ancient Chinese culture. The characteristics of ancient Chinese culture are: daring to imagine and daring to pursue. Taoism believes that the so-called "human being" can be cultivated so that the physical body can live forever and reach the realm of immortals: "the same body as the heaven and the earth, and the same life span as the sun and the moon."

Let's see how majestic this idea is, how bold and broad-minded it is.Regardless of whether human beings can really achieve the goal of living the same life as the sun and the moon, just this kind of assumption is enough to be great. Except for the Chinese, which race in the world dares to think this way? Yes, "eternal life" is mentioned in Western culture and religion, but that is still spiritual and after death, which is not the same as the Taoist assumption. This idea of Taoism is just like what they themselves said: "The universe is in hand, and all transformations are from the heart."

In fact, Taoists don't just think, they don't just dare to talk, they are really committed to the search for methods, they really want to conquer the human body, they really want to control human life, and in the process of their efforts, the achievements they get , has a deep relationship with Chinese medicine. Han Yi Speaking of it, many people call it the head of the group of scriptures, the scripture of the scriptures, and the philosophy of philosophy. This statement is quite reasonable. Among all the classics, it seems to include everything, and it is the crystallization of wisdom.

In China's 5,000-year cultural history, aspects can be divided into two stages. The first stage is Han Yi, and the second stage is Song Yi. To put it simply, Yi Xue includes three kinds of knowledge: reason, image, and mathematics. Reason——is to explain everything in the universe in a philosophical way. Image—is to explain the phenomenon of things in the universe in a theoretical and scientific way. Numbers—every phenomenon has numbers in it, which also belongs to science. Hanyi lays more emphasis on image and number, which is scientific and most closely related to Taoism, so some people call Hanyi Daoyi.

However, what Song Yi emphasizes is reason, which belongs to Confucianism and has little relationship with Taoism (Shao Kangjie followed the Han Yi Taoist route). Therefore, it is Han Yi that is related to the origin of Chinese medicine. what is hexagram As mentioned, everyone will think of Fuxi painting gossip, what exactly is a gossip? The hexagram, hanging also.It is a phenomenon that hangs in front of our eyes, so it is called a hexagram. The hexagrams mentioned are phenomena in the universe, which can be seen by our naked eyes. There are eight basic big phenomena in the universe, and everything, everything, and everything in the universe change according to these eight phenomena. This is the origin of the law of gossip.

To be able to observe the phenomena of the universe, classify them into eight categories, and draw them into gossip, isn't this superhuman wisdom? Therefore, gossip is the study of wisdom. We see Kong Ming appearing in Beijing opera, wearing a gown of yin and yang gossip, which shows a high degree of wisdom, which is represented by gossip. draw hexagrams and lines The hexagram is a phenomenon of the universe, and to record this image, one must draw it, so the hexagram is drawn, not written. Gua is an abstract representation, and it can also be said to be a symbol of a pattern, and gossip is also a logical symbol.

The hexagrams are composed of "Yao". What is "Yao"?A straight line is a line, which is called a "Yang line", and a break in the middle of a line is also a line, which is called a "Yin line". Gua is composed of "Yin Yao" and "Yang Yao". Let's look at the character "Yao" again, which is composed of two oblique crosses. According to the explanation of geophysics, the earth's magnetic field and the longitude and latitude are oblique lines, and these two oblique lines represent a form of the universe, and everything is intertwined.

And these two interlacings just become two crosses, and the character Yao is also the representative of the two crosses. Whether our ancestor Fuxi really drew hexagrams in this way may still be doubtful, but the origin of Chinese characters began with pictograms, that is to say, it started from the phenomenon of painting, just like drawing hexagrams. how to draw hexagrams Writing is mostly from top to bottom, but drawing hexagrams is from bottom to top, that is to say, drawing hexagrams is drawn line by line from the inside to the outside. This is a basic common sense of drawing hexagrams. Although it is possible to draw hexagrams from top to bottom and from the outside to the inside, the initial method of drawing hexagrams is from the inside to the outside and from the bottom to the top, which has its own important reason. We live on the earth, and the function of the life on the earth is produced by the outward emission from the center of the earth. Taking a person as a unit, an individual's ability to act is also from the inside out. This is the basic idea, which is the reason why hexagrams are drawn from the inside out and from the bottom up. The picture below is the innate gossip map drawn by Fuxi, but this gossip map was not circulated before the Tang Dynasty, and only appeared after the Tang and Song Dynasties.Whether it was painted by Fu Xi, we will not make textual research, and we will not discuss it here. Now let us look at the meaning expressed by the innate gossip. Li Gua - the hexagram image is a point in the circle, representing the sun. Kan hexagram - the upper and lower sides are all Yin, The Yang line in the middle symbolizes light and represents the moon. Gong hexagram-broken under the front, representing wind. Zhen hexagram - the lower part is yang, the upper part is broken, Represents shock, for thunder. Gen hexagram - there are protruding mountains on the ground, representing mountains. Dui Gua - the gap on the top indicates lakes and oceans. After reading these Yin and Yang lines, it may be difficult to understand why they represent the sun, moon, heaven and earth, mountains, wind and thunder. But we need to know that the hexagrams drawn at the beginning were not as straight and neat as the ones drawn today. In the original drawing method, the yin line may be just two points, and the so-called yang line is just a whole piece. Its shape is not necessarily neat, and the hexagrams are three-dimensional. Therefore, the shape of Li Gua is just a circle with a black dot in the middle to represent the sun.The other hexagrams also evolved in the same way. The phenomenon represented by gossip After reading the innate gossip, we clearly understand that the gossip has already drawn all the phenomena of the universe. The eight phenomena in the universe are heaven, earth, sun, moon, wind, thunder, mountains, and lakes. May I ask, besides these eight kinds of phenomena that make up the natural world of the universe, what else is there? The induction of gossip is really great. Confucius said in Shuo Gua Zhuan: "Heaven and earth positioning", looking from any direction, it is the sky. "Thunder and wind are thinner than each other", the friction of the atmosphere becomes thunder and lightning, and the shock of thunder and lightning becomes air flow. "Shanze Ventilation", this principle is exactly the same as the application of acupuncture and moxibustion, which will be discussed later. "Water and fire do not shoot each other", if there is too much fire, the water will dry up, and if there is too much water, the fire will go out. It is extremely difficult to achieve a balance. As for the parts of the human body represented by the gossip, they are as follows, which is the concept of the alchemy school: Stem - Head 1 Kun—belly 8 away from the eyes 3 Hom - ear 6 Earthquake—dantian (life energy) 4 Sunda—nose 5 Gen—back 7 Exchange - mouth 2 The problem of "number" in gossip When we saw the numbers on the gossip (Figure 3), we really found it interesting. One, two, three, four rotated to the left, and five, six, seven, eight rotated to the right. This is the basic principle: "The way of heaven is left-handed, and the tunnel is right-handed." When we look at these numbers again, the addition of the opposite sides becomes nine, so although there is no nine in the innate gossip, nine actually exists in it, which is called nine in it! Western calculus is said to have been invented with the inspiration of Yi Li. However, the concept of "number" believes that there is only one number in the universe, that is "one". This "one", if one is added, it will be equal to two, and if one is added, it will be equal to three, and the highest will be nine, and if one is added, it will return to one. This way of thinking is the logic of induction, which is completely different from the logic of Western analysis. Among these numbers, one, three, five, seven, nine to nine are the highest numbers, nine represents the highest yang, and the number of yang energy to nine is the apex. Two, four, six and eighty are Yin numbers, with six in the middle, representing the most Yin. Congenital gossip orientation, climate and medical treatment Duiweize, its orientation on the Eight Diagrams is southeast, and it can be said that there is more water in the southeast. As of now, Taiwan is in the innate position of Dui Gua in the Eight Diagrams, which happens to be in the ocean. The Xun hexagram is southwest, and Xun is wind, so the southwest is a windy area. The wind in Xiaguan, Yunnan is the strongest. When the truck passes by, you can turn off the gas pedal and let the wind blow. You can imagine how strong the wind is.Some people say: The so-called Sunda is the wind. Different regions have different climates and geographical environments, resulting in medical deviations. For example, there are many febrile diseases in the north, so "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" can only be applied to the south; Taiwan has a marine subtropical climate, and the method of medicine is completely different from that on the mainland. Therefore, it is absolutely incorrect to apply the same medicine and the same method to all parts of the world, ignoring the climate factor. Speaking of this, I remembered an incident 20 years ago. A friend suffered from jaundice and was treated by another Chinese medicine friend. In the prescription he prescribed, he used ephedra Liuqian. I was shocked at that time. Because it is very cautious to use ephedra on the mainland, and absolutely dare not use so much. This patient took one or two doses of medicine but it didn't work, so this Chinese medicine friend added ephedra to one or two doses. At that time, I couldn't help but ask him. He explained that Taiwan's medicines were of poor quality, with problematic ingredients, and climate factors. Soon, the disease was cured, which proves that the most important thing in Chinese medicine is climate. Humanity in Taoist Conception As we said before, gossip represents the eight major phenomena in the universe, and everyone will definitely wonder why we humans, the spirits of all things, are not included! On this point, the Taoist concept is the most interesting. They believe that the earth is a living thing, and we humans are just parasites on the earth. It's nice to say that parasites, but in fact, Taoists call human beings "bad worms", that is, naked worms, who are born with naked naked worm faces. Can we fool around with metaphors of writers?Just look at the population problem on Earth! The population is constantly increasing. According to the inference of Taoism, the population will continue to increase. It is said that it is like the worms in an apple. It's over. Ever since the worms—human beings—had unfortunately grown on the earth, they have continued to develop so-called science.Mining, seabed oil drilling, material civilization is getting more and more developed, and the destructiveness is getting higher and higher, until we worms destroy the earth. Taoism's research on the myriad phenomena of the universe When astronauts landed on the moon, American friends once said that the sovereignty of the moon should belong to the United States, but I made a joke, thinking that the sovereignty of the moon should belong to China, because China’s "Chang'e" has already rushed to the moon thousands of years ago up.Although this is a joke, it is really meaningful, because our Taoists have already started research on the moon and the sun. There is already a "Sun Moon Ben Phosphorus Sutra" in "Tao Cang", which envisages landing on the moon and the sun. In the Taoist document "Tao Cang", in addition to the study of the moon, there is also an extremely complicated map called "The True Shape of the Five Sacred Mountains", which is centered on China and draws the underground of the Five Sacred Mountains. It is believed that there are underground passages in all of them. Similarly, according to Taoist legends, there is a cave under the Yellow Emperor's Mausoleum in Shaanxi Province, and you walk along the tunnel in the cave, and you will come out in Nanjing three months later. In Daozang, mainland China is classified like internal organs, and the lungs are in Shaanxi Province. In the notes of the predecessors, it is recorded that there is a cave in the north of the Tianshan Mountains. Every time it is Qingming, the atmosphere will come out of this hole, which is said to be the breath of the earth. When the breath is released, people in the desert can hear it. , People and animals have already fled far away, so as not to be blown away by the air, and after twenty-four hours, the sound of inhaling can be heard again. In Ji Xiaolan's notes, she once mentioned this place. In the desert, lakes can move by themselves due to the influence of earth atmosphere. They are like big ice blocks, moving to another place and then stopping. Some Mongolian friends also said that they have experienced this kind of situation. What are these phenomena? They are the Shanze Ventilation of Shang. Shanze ventilation and gas Taoism regards heaven and earth as a large universe, and the human body on the earth as a small universe. When Taoism cultivates alchemy, it first pays attention to the qi of the human body. In the minds of Taoists, the earth is alive, and of course it also has "qi". This is why the principle of "ventilation through mountains and rivers" was applied by Taoism. What is Qi?"Qi" in Taoism is a very mysterious issue, and "Qi" in Chinese medicine is also a mysterious issue. Gen in the eight trigrams is the mountain, if Gen is missed, it is the Dui hexagram, which is the ocean, which means that the mountain is the sea, and the sea is the mountain. The bottom of the mountain is connected with the bottom of the sea. However, why does Shanze ventilate? Taoist military science was originally kept secret but not passed on. Now that we are talking about "Shanze Ventilation", let us first look at the situation of the ancient Taoist military science on expeditions beyond the Great Wall. In the Chinese society thousands of years ago, leading thousands of thousands of troops out of the fortress did not have the current communication equipment and supplies. The problem of water source alone was a major event. But the Taoists have a way. When marching, they carry a lot of Pengai. When they arrive at the northwest plateau or desert area, they first dig a well about one foot square and burn the Pengai in the pit. At this time, pay attention to the distant surroundings. Soon you will see smoke coming from other places, and from the place where the steam is coming out, you will find water. This is the application and proof of "Shanze Ventilation". But why use wencao? According to the research of Taoism and Chinese pharmacology, wormwood is ventilative, which is left to further research by plant experts and scientists. But the wormwood used in acupuncture is exactly this kind of wormwood. The Function of Hexagrams and Taoist Philosophy We have briefly talked about the relationship between the Xiantian hexagram and Chinese medicine, and next time we can introduce the Houtian hexagram of King Wen. After the Tang and Song Dynasties, the style and function of the "Yi" have been clearly divided. Xiantian hexagrams represent the ontology and the laws of the universe. What the Houtian hexagram represents is application, which is applied to everything according to the laws of the universe. In the basic concept of "Book of Changes", there is a principle of the ebb and flow of yin and yang, that is, the cathode generates yang, and the anode generates yin. Based on this point, Chinese culture is basically based on the Yi theory. For example, when talking about history and philosophy based on the Yi theory, there is the principle of "talking about major events in the world, long-term unity must be divided, and long-term division must be united." Arguments that come into play. The cathode is yang, and the anode is yin, which is the basic philosophy of Taoism.
