Secondly, the Buddha said that before becoming a Buddha, all Buddhas must come here to become a Buddha, and it is not easy to become a Buddha in other worlds. For example, it is difficult for heaven and man to become a Buddha, and it is difficult for people in Luzhou, Beiju, to become a Buddha, because the blessings are so good, pure happiness and no suffering.Just because there is no stimulation of pain, people there will not feel disgusted with renunciation, so if all sentient beings want to become Buddhas, they must come to this world.This Saha world is a mixture of good and evil, of bitterness and happiness, of everything, and there is a lot of pain.It is because of suffering that it is easy to cultivate the Tao. Why do you need to become a Buddha if there are no sentient beings?If there are no sentient beings, there is no need for Buddhas, because everyone is a Buddha!Why come another Buddha!Because there are sentient beings and suffering, there is Bodhi and Buddhahood.

"Buddhism is in the world" is a view and a vow.Because the world is an evil world with five turbidities, it is necessary to give alms and keep the precepts; because the world is very painful and very bad, so only by saving yourself and others here can you complete your merits and virtues. This is in the second sense. In terms of metaphysics, there is no difference between worldly and non-worldly. The Sixth Patriarch's Altar Sutra tells us, "Buddhism is in the world, and it doesn't care about the world's enlightenment." If you leave the world, you can't seek enlightenment; if you don't have pain, you don't know the comfort of happiness;So affliction is Bodhi, and it can also be developed from this level. "Leave this world to seek Bodhi." If you really jump out of the world and the three realms, you are already a Buddha, and you don't need to seek Bodhi anymore. There is no reason to become two Buddhas.Therefore, when Mahayana Buddhism says that the Dharma is in the world, it refers to the "door of practice".

Meditation and cultivating the Tao are only one ten-thousandth of the disciplines. Other behaviors and activities are all the disciplines of Buddhism. Therefore, it is the principle that Buddhism should not be separated from the world.Don't think that Buddhism is inseparable from the world. While you are cultivating the Tao, you also think that you need all kinds of fame, wealth, wine, sex and wealth. If you think this way, you are wrong. According to the Vimalakirti Sutra, the lotus will not grow on the clean mud or the clean place on the top of the mountain. Only in the dirtiest, turbid, and lowest place, the lotus will grow more luxuriantly and more fragrant. , The purer the flower, the bigger the flower, and it is spotless.The lotus flower is the spirit of learning Buddhism, so the lotus flower represents Buddhism, which is achieved in the dirtiest and most difficult place in the evil world of five turbidities. This is the principle of Buddhism in the world.Don't think that since Buddhism is in the world, it doesn't have to be born. If there is no such thing, it still has to be born.However, there is a difference between being born in the world and becoming a monk. To become a monk in the secular world is just to leave this home and go to another home.To be born is to leave this life and enter another life.

It has not reached beyond the Three Realms, but is still within this world.Jumping out of the Three Realms and not being in the Five Elements is the real birth. This basic truth must be clarified. There is a book called "Zen Direct Pointing--Great Events and Predestined Relationships", the author Shi Chengjin was a Jinshi in the Qing Dynasty. Rest, but let it go for a while, just sit silently, wait for him to become proficient, and agree with him for a long time."

"Sitting for a day is like snapping your fingers, you don't hear the sound of bells and drums, and you don't know if you put ginseng after lunch." People used to work hard like this, but now it's difficult.

"The elder heard that I was sitting well, so he came down to the monastery hall to see me, and once praised me from the throne." At that time, I was only eighteen years old. "On the 19th, go to Lingyin to hang the apron", go to Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou to hang the apron. "See Shan Miao Feng, Miao Feng dies, and Ishida succeeds." Shi Tian succeeded as the abbot. "Yingdongsou is in Kesi", the famous Zen monk Yingdongsou was working as an intellectual at that time. "I'm in Zhikeliao, and I met the secretary from Chuzhou." The two phases of movement and stillness will inevitably interfere with each other." Just sitting cross-legged in meditation is called Zen, and movement is not enough. Then movement and stillness will be divided into two ends. The ancients mentioned it in the same way, and the whole body is sweaty.When I practiced Zen, I thought I was great.Once a Taoist friend asked: People say that you have enlightened, do you realize the sameness in waking up and dreaming?I kept silent, I knew in my heart that it was different, so I came back by myself, and when I woke up like a dream, I met a young monk and asked me: When there is no dream and no dream, where is the protagonist, do you know?I was asked again, and I started again.So when people mention it, a good horse will gallop away at the sight of the whip, which is not like everyone being beaten by a virtuous teacher without knowing it.At this time, Xue Yanqin was beaten by a good teacher, he knew it was serious. "I was told by him. It's really just sitting in front of the covered realm, and I can't see the place where I walk on the ground and put the chopsticks." He said, yes!When I meditate, I am very pure. This state is only there. As soon as I put my legs down, or when I drink soup with a spoon or eat with chopsticks, this state disappears.No!The young monk from Chuzhou was superior to him, so he said to him: "To practice Zen, you must have doubts, great doubts and great enlightenment, small doubts and small enlightenments, no doubts and no enlightenment, you must start with doubts. Although he does not do much work, he will come down from the nunnery (monk not nunnery), not nunnery is The son of Songyuan, (Monk Bu'an is very famous in Zen Buddhism and a descendant of the old monk Songyuan of Linji sect.) Some people think that if you have an inverted girdle, you can just meditate without sleeping.Since Yuan and Ming Dynasties, there have been a lot of these strange tricks. They have been meditating, practicing Huatou, and using kung fu all day long, but people are confused, or else they are scattered and troubled. "I heard that Monk Tianmu has served Songyuan for a long time, he is Songyuan's son, he must have Songyuan speak, and transfer the order to pass the Jingci hanging bag." Monk Tianmu is a famous great Zen master who happened to be the abbot of Jingci Temple, so Xue Yanqin went to Jingci to hang up his purse. "Huaixiang asks for benefit from the abbot", according to Zen rules, take three sticks of incense and ask the waiter to inform the old monk. "Nine worships in the main hall", there are rules here, if you hear the words correctly, light three incense sticks and kowtow; "He asked me: how to do kung fu. So I said it straight from the beginning. He said: Don't you see that Linji asked Huangbo the general idea of ​​Buddhism three times, was beaten three times, and finally punched Dayu three times. Said: Yuan Lai Huangbo Dharma has not many sons. How do you see it?" He reported to the old monk Tianmu about his practice of kung fu, and the old monk told the story of Linji's pursuit of the Tao and his enlightenment. You have to look at these places. "Tianmu monk hides his words, and he will support them upwards." The first-class method, "My illness is in a drowsy and scattered place. I don't like it if he doesn't give medicine." What Tianmu talks is the first-class method. But my problem is that when I meditate, I am either drowsy or scattered. "I can't help but say in my heart, you have never done kung fu, you are just clever Zen." The thought in his heart is the same as when we go to see a virtuous teacher. If someone’s answer is not to my liking, I feel that he has no skill and no way. "For ordinary prayers, there is a stick of incense at the end. I bow three times, which is called thanking the cause. I will cover up one stick of incense and not burn it." The rule of the meditation hall is that ordinary people come to ask for advice, hold three sticks of incense in their hands, and if they are right, light three sticks of incense. Zhixiang, kneel down and worship three times, and monk Xie welcomes you, this is the rule of monks.Xueyan only took the incense and came back with the incense. "Still relying on myself, I often sit in meditation", he still meditates and meditates, does not sleep, and does not lean on the mat. "At that time, there were seven brothers from the two prefectures of Zhangzhou and Quanzhou who joined me in meditation and sat in meditation for two years in Jingci. I started to miss my hometown, and asked for leave to return to my hometown. Once I let it go, I let it go. (Now I feel comfortable when I go home, and I put away all my efforts.) Two months later, I came back to take part in the vacation (later called the cancellation of vacation), but it was reorganized from the beginning, but it was covered and released, and I was ten times more energetic. " This is the key. When he got home, his mother gave him delicious food. This time when he came back, he felt refreshed and comfortable when he meditated.So pay attention to nutrition. "Yuan Lai wants to find out this matter, so he can't sleep. You have to sleep in the middle of the night to be energetic." To learn the Tao, you must have good nutrition and enough rest to work hard. People asked me why I did retreat!sleep. As soon as you enter the closed room, sleep for seven or eight days first, and then don't sleep anymore, and work hard when you sit down.Especially after eleven o'clock at night, you must go to bed, and you will be refreshed after a good night's sleep. "One day I was walking eastward and westward in the verandah, and suddenly bumped into Brother Xiu. Looking at him from a distance, he felt leisurely, happy and content. When I approached him, but he talked to me, I knew he had gained something. But he asked him what he wanted to talk to you last year. How about you just avoid me? He said: Brother Zun, a real Taoist has no work to cut his claws, let alone talk to you. It’s a waste, how can I have time to talk to you. So you came to me, and I avoided it.) He then asked me how I was doing? I told him from the beginning, and finally said: I’m just being beaten by a dazed mess and I don’t go (Complaining to him), he said: What is the difficulty! Since you are not violent, you must stand tall on the futon and erect your spine. Teach him to lean on each other, with three hundred and sixty joints and eighty-four thousand hair openings. And make a word of no words, what to mention, what to ask for drowsiness." At this time, you will know what the Shurangama Sutra says: "I don't know the body, and the mountains, rivers, void, and earth are outside, and salt is the thing in the heart of Miaoming." Everything is naturally flowing out of the heart of Miaoming.Bodhi and afflictions are equal and equal. Only then can we talk about "afflictions are Bodhi". Ordinary afflictions are afflictions, and it is a lie to say that afflictions are Bodhi. This is the fulfillment of the vow, and everyone should cherish it. "Since then, it has been exposed and quietly, and there has been no movement for more than half a month." He thinks he is the right way at this time, and uses the dead mouse as a treasure, so what can he do! He has harmed himself, and he will not let go of his opinion.) Many people who study Tantric Buddhism, Taoism, and Zen have reached this state and are buried alive here. Besides, we have not yet reached this point. Why is this realm gone?), the ancients had a saying of “Wu Mei Ru”, but they couldn’t understand it (he said The ancients were the same when waking up and sleeping, but I can't do it. Sleeping is sleeping, and waking up will have this state.), if the eyes are not sleeping, all dreams will be eliminated, if the heart is not different, all dharmas are the same (this is the saying The four sentences inscribed on the faith inscription by the third Zen patriarch) were all misunderstood. The minion of the Buddha, let alone your mouth. Sometimes in the Dharma seat, you talk here and there, but nothing hits my heart. This is his enlightenment state. "From then on, you don't doubt life, you don't doubt death, you don't doubt Buddha, you don't doubt ancestors, you can see old man Jingshan standing there." You can understand it as soon as you listen to it; there are also some people who have not worked hard at all, but they understand it and cannot promote it; Just like a person travels, he only speaks words for one mile or two when he travels one mile or two mile. These are some koans of Chan Master Gao Fengmiao.Those who learn Zen and do kung fu, pay attention to the five points mentioned above, which are related to learning Zen and doing kung fu. It is very important, especially now that many people like to talk about Zen. Zen is not about talking, but Zen is about cultivation. They all come from here.Although Matsu had an epiphany in his words, it was still based on his many years of meditation in the southern mountain Hengshan.Today's people can't subdue their legs, so why talk about subduing their hearts!这就是参禅、做功夫修定的真正榜样。但我坦白地下结论:就算能了法身,报、化二身还有问题。所以,中国有些学者讲,禅宗容易走入小乘的路线,这个小乘并不是说“行”上之小,连见地、修证、行门,都容易走上小乘路子。报、化二身要想圆满成就,可不容易。像高峰妙这种苦行、这种坚贞,尤其了不起的是同明朝许多高僧一样,都是在国破家亡之后,替中华民族保留了正气。他晓得以他当时的名气,元朝一定会来请他的,他赶快就跑。他的徒弟,很有名的中峰禅师,也听他的命令,不准出来做元朝的国师,皇帝来请都不去,连中峰禅师也躲掉了。 到了明朝以后,这个系统的大师才出来,这又是历史、文化、佛教史上的另一段公案。但看其精神,视其品格,都是不得了的人,我们现在望尘莫及。他们住破茅篷,平日捣点糜粉,能不死就算了。乃至大雪天,被雪封龛,十来天,路既不通,也不能举炊,人人以为他死了,结果过了十多天,雪停了,跑去一看,他还在入定,坐得正好呢!所以说,言下顿悟,那是古人,不是我们。 现在让我们继续瑜伽师地论卷第十三,本地分中三摩四呬多地第六之三。 讲修定:“复次,如世尊言,修静虑者,或有等持善巧,非等至善巧。”这是弥勒菩萨说的话,当然是无着菩萨的记录。 修定的人,定慧等持双修,以现在人的修法来讲,如禅密双修,或禅净双修,或止观、念佛双修等,是等持善巧。非等至善巧,是走专门一点的路子。 “广说如经,温(左为口旁)柁南颂:云何等持善巧?谓于空等三三摩地,得善巧故。”所谓等持,就是真正证到空,证到真正的性空境界。有些是真空,有些是假空。如道钦禅师所云,硬把念头压下去,看起来也觉得空,但那是假空,第六意识硬压下去,不是真的。 “云何非等至善巧?谓于胜处,遍处,灭尽等至不善巧故。”胜处,指最好的境界;遍处,空的境界有偏,不圆满;善巧是方便的意思。这是说,要进入那个境界就立刻进入,不似我们瞎猫撞到死老鼠,是碰上的。 “云何等至善巧?非等持善巧?谓于十种遍处等至,及无想等至。 “云何为住?谓善取能入诸三摩地,诸行状相,善取彼故,随其所欲,能住于定。于三摩地无复退失,如是若住于定,若不退失,二俱名住。” 什么叫住的境界?什么叫入定、住定、出定?前一段讲如何进入定的境界,进入定境后,如何能住在定的境界中。这要靠我们在知识理论上认识清楚,进入定的行(心理行为)状(定境的现状)。 “善取彼故,”入定、住定不是不着相,硬是有点着相,可是不是凡夫的着相,是住在那个定上的着相。你一定,当然是住相了。这个住相要“善取彼故,随其所欲,能住于定。”看你对哪一种定境喜欢,就住在哪个定境上,这个喜欢不是烦恼妄想的喜欢,是看我们现在的需要。 比方,如果今天上座,妄想杂念特别多,像道钦禅师讲的,又散乱,又昏沉,这个时候就要懂得用什么善巧,用什么方法,才能去掉散乱、昏沉。这里头,以中国文化讲,就有三种了,精、气、神三样不同,要检查出来,晓得今天散乱多、烦恼大,是否由生理来的?比如女人都有周期性的现象,要用什么方法才能使自己除去烦恼,进入安详的境界。其实男人同样有周期。可是不容易知道。 又比如肠胃吃了某一种东西,吃坏了,或是今天气脉引导不好,会烦躁得不得了,火大得很,恨不得连自己都杀掉。所以有人打坐会走入魔,像这种情形也差不多了。 用一种方法善巧调治,使能住进定境,就叫做对治法门。所以修行不是一味药,不是像八卦丹、万金油之类,样样毛病都可以用的,这是讲生理部分。有时候,是“精”的问题,也包括生理上的营养过多、或不足所引发的毛病。有时候是“气”的问题,所谓气脉对与不对,中行气、上行气、下行气、左右行气,种种等,因调节不好,影响到心肝脾肺肾,发生了问题。有时候是心理问题,就是“神”,因为受了打击,心境非常低沉,低沉是大烦恼。这一切都要晓得调剂,如果不知道调剂,每天做功夫,步步都是荆棘,都没有用,都是开倒车。
