The Ten Precepts are the precepts that minor monks, that is, novice monks, obey.This is on top of the first five precepts, plus: ① not eating out of season, ② abstaining from watching songs and dances, ③ abstaining from smearing the body with sesame oil, ④ abstaining from lofty and spacious beds, and ⑤ abstaining from the proper precepts of gold, silver and treasures.Monks are not allowed to hold money, as mentioned above.The ten precepts are novice precepts, so in the practice of giving precepts as a monk, the ten precepts were originally given. When receiving precepts, if you ask: "Abstaining from drinking alcohol is a novice precept. Can you keep it?" You should answer "Can you keep it?" ".That is to complete the ceremony of ordaining.

Six dharma rings Men and women who have not reached the age of 20 are not allowed to receive full precepts, and they are formal monks of the Sangha. Therefore, those who are under 20 years old should abide by the above ten precepts, especially for women, when they are eighteen or nine years old. During the years, she was specially required to learn the "Six Dharma Precepts", and only those who can learn and uphold the Six Dharma Precepts can be given full precepts.The content of the six precepts is not to commit adultery, not to kill, not to steal, not to lie, not to drink alcohol and not to eat or drink at irregular times.These are all the precepts in the ten precepts, and especially the six precepts must be strictly practiced to test their roots.According to the law, the Buddha specially taught the six precepts for women, in order to test whether they are pregnant or not.The novices who learn to practice this precept are called "Shichamana."
