Dharma Overview 明旸法师 3162Words 2018-03-20
The precepts established by the Buddha are panacea for teaching disciples to abide by the law, restrain the mind and body, and cut off evil and do good.Although the precepts are formulated for the disciples of novice monks, novice monks, monks, and nuns, in fact, the two disciples of upasakas and upasikas at home should also abide by them. But before accepting the Five Precepts, you must first accept the Three Refuges, that is, take refuge in the Three Jewels, become a disciple of the Buddha, accumulate good roots, and tend to the Buddha way. Then go one step further and uphold the five precepts, which are the fundamental door for entering the Tao. Only with the five precepts can we plant the cause of blessings for human beings and heaven, and lay the initial foundation for becoming a Buddha.

(1) Three Refuges The Three Refugees refer to taking refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. To take refuge is to take refuge, and to rely on is to rely on.However, anyone who believes in Buddhism and accepts the Three Refugees can be regarded as a true believer who has converted to Buddhism and is a disciple of the Three Jewels of Buddhism.Taking the Three Jewels of Buddhism, Dharma, and Sangha as teachers, the Buddha is the heaven among the heavens, the saint among the saints, the teacher of the three realms, and the loving father of the four generations. "Buddha's treasures are infinitely praised, and his achievements are immeasurable. In the midst of countless kalpas, he stands tall and has six purple golden faces. He feels the snow-capped mountain peaks. The jade hair between his brows shines brightly, illuminating the dimness of the six realms. The three associations of Longhua wish to meet each other and give a speech on the true teaching."Dharma is the Tripitaka of Sutras, Laws and Disciplines, and the three disciplines of Precepts, Dingzhi and Wisdom, which can make all living beings return to the truth, turn the mortal into a saint. "Dharma treasures are hard to measure. Tathagata proclaimed them in Jinkou, Dragon Palace and Haizang scattered heavenly fragrances, and enlightened ones recited Lang Wang's letter, jade shafts and Xiatiao gold writing, like geese flying in autumn. In the past, Sanzang took it to Tang Dynasty, and it will be spread forever."The monks practice according to the Dharma, take the precepts as the teacher, Hongzong performs the teachings, the eyes of the human and the gods, and they are the field of blessings for the world. "Sengbao is incredible. Wearing a cloud garment with three things, the moment when the floating cup crosses the sea, he goes to the induction group machine. He can be the master of merit and virtue. If we can generate bodhicitta and take refuge in the Three Jewels of Buddhism, Dharma, and Sangha, we will be able to eradicate our sins and obstacles and increase our blessings and wisdom. There is also the principle of the Three Jewels of One Body and the Three Jewels of Abbot, which are what Buddhists should take refuge in.

(2) Five Precepts The five precepts of Buddhism are the precepts for the upasakas and upasikas at home.1. Don’t kill; 2. Don’t steal; 3. Don’t commit sexual misconduct; 4. Don’t tell lies; 5. Don’t drink alcohol. The four rules of killing, stealing, prostitution, and falsehood belong to the sexual precepts.Alcohol belongs to the taboo. These five precepts are not only the precepts that should be observed by lay people, but the morality that ordinary Buddhist believers should observe. However, they later compared these five precepts with the precepts of monks, and believed that they were the precepts of Buddhists at home.In fact, it is the basis of novice monks, monks, monks, nuns and bodhisattvas. The so-called "precepts are the foundation of the supreme Bodhi, which can give birth to all good dharmas".With the bodhisattva's six perfections, ten thousand actions, and all good merits and virtues, they are all produced by accepting and upholding the precepts. "Upasai" is translated as "near affairs man". "Upayi" is translated as "near affairs girl".It means being close to good men and good women who serve the Triple Gem of Buddhism, Dharma, and Sangha.Being able to get close to and serve the Three Jewels will cultivate all kinds of goodness, plant a field of blessings, practice convenience from time to time, and accumulate all kinds of yin merits.

In India, male Buddhists are called "Upasika".The five precepts are called "learning place" according to the law, which is the place where Buddhist believers should learn, and it is also called "learning place".If there are good men and good women, they will be promoted to the Hall of Great Wisdom. The five precepts are also called "roads".That is, all disciplines and good deeds are formed from this operation. Also known as a textbook. This is what you should learn, this is the reason. Also known as the "Five Great Giving", it is because it absorbs countless sentient beings and achieves immeasurable merits and virtues.Because it can increase various merits and virtues, this is the principle of the three refuges and five precepts called virtues and behaviors.

(3) The Subtle Differences in Killing, Thieves, and Adultery For the five precepts of killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, and drinking, we need to analyze it further. One is the ring of killing. There are two types of killing. One is to deliberately kill sentient beings. The second is the unintentional killing of sentient beings. Whether it is intentional killing or manslaughter, it is also called killing. For precept-keeping believers, they have violated the precept of killing. In the law of national dignity, murder and arson are also crimes, which must be punished and punished. The second is the precept of stealing.Taking without giving is called stealing. Buddhist believers are not allowed to steal other people's money, gold and silver treasures, no matter how big or small. If others don't give it to you, never steal it secretly. However, there are eight differences in the precept against stealing, which are quite complicated. (1), blatant robbery; (2), secret theft; (3), deceitful deception; (4), forceful taking; , Receipt but not return; (8), Taxable but not payable. The above eight types belong to the scope of theft. The third is the precept against sexual immorality, which is called the precept against sexual misconduct.Men and women touching each other, loving each other, embracing and having intercourse, and mixing blood is called sexual immorality, and the precepts that lay believers follow are called sexual immorality. To lay friends at home, marrying men and women, passing on the family line, as promised by the family.Outside of the lawful family relationship between husband and wife, the husband loves his wife, and the wife loves her husband, and lusting after lust is called adultery. However, in terms of adultery, there are also three complex situations.According to the season, a layman mentioned in "Forty-two Chapters New Shu": "There are two kinds of adultery, one is the adultery that is not casual. There are three: (1) Other husbands and other wives. (2) Unmarried adultery Boys and virgins. (3), prostitutes, etc. The second is adultery between spouses. There are four: (1), out-of-season adultery, such as cold, summer, daytime, menstruation, pregnancy, and illness. (2), out-of-place adultery, Such as all the places outside the room. (3) Prostitution outside the Tao, such as other parts of the internal body other than the genitals. (4) Prostitution without quantity, such as regardless of whether the old or young are strong or weak, it is excessive sexual intercourse.” The above mentioned It is called sexual immorality, which is a precept against sexual immorality that lay believers hold. The fourth is the precept against lying. It is false speech, which is called lying speech, which has four different properties: false speech, frivolous speech, harsh speech, and divisive speech. (1) Lying is any arbitrary, false and dishonest speech, such as seeing and saying that you have not seen, saying what is right and what is wrong, and saying what is not is what is true.Reversing black and white, confusing right and wrong.Another kind of lying is talking nonsense about the fruit of the Tao that practitioners have cultivated and proved.I have not attained the Arhat status, and falsely say that I have already attained the Arhat status.I haven't obtained the fruit of the sage without learning, but it is nonsense that I have already obtained the fruit of the sage.Rumors confuse the public, deceive all living beings, make offerings in vain, and become big lies and serious crimes. Now there are some people in the world who say that they have supernatural powers, what I can see, what I can hear, and many false, false, and arrogant words are just one example. (2) Qi language, Qi is silk Qiluo, the patterns are very beautifully woven, very beautiful. This person seemed to be very sweet when he said it, but it was another matter in his heart. In fact, he was "sweet as honey in his mouth, sharp as a knife in his heart".Sweet words, stabbing people in the back. (3) Harsh words refer to slandering, cursing, hurting parents, cursing, etc. with harsh words. (4) Two-tonguing means soliciting truth and instigating rumors, saying something about Li to Zhang and saying something about Zhang to Li, creating something out of nothing, maliciously slandering each other, causing discord and destroying unity. It's really a heinous crime, and it hurts people a lot.The above is called the precept against lying. These are the four evils of speaking. As disciples of the Buddha, we must strictly abide by the precept of lying and not violate them.

The four precepts of killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, and lying are called sex precepts because their nature is evil. The fifth is to quit drinking.Wine is a variety of famous wines that ordinary people drink, but the wine is made from rice grains. They will do all kinds of unreasonable things, speak a lot of nonsense, and commit all kinds of evil actions, even as mentioned above, the story of breaking the five precepts because of eating alcohol. In real life, there are too many accidents, car accidents, etc. due to drinking, which are too numerous to mention, and even people lose their lives.Buddhist disciples who cultivate their minds and keep the precepts must make up their minds and insist on the precept of not drinking alcohol. It is a very important event, please think twice, this is the precepts of the five precepts and its detailed rules.

(4) The first refuge disciples After my Buddha attained the Supreme Bodhi Buddha Way, he traveled to the Paranai country. There was an elder named Yashoga Father, who had matured good roots. The Buddha taught him the pure and wonderful method of the three refuges and five precepts. first believer.Another story says that in the city of Kasira, an elder Juli came to the place of the Buddha. The Buddha was the first Upasaka disciple to impart the Three Refuge and Five Precepts.Once again, an elder Kukali invited the Buddha and his six disciples to make lunch offerings. Yasa’s mother also participated in the meal. Through karma, he was able to see the Buddha. The Buddha was the first Upayi disciple to impart the Three Refuge and Five Precepts. It is further said that after the Tathagata became enlightened, after seven days, there were two merchants passing by under the Ganges tree in Luojaye. One was named Tiwei and the other was called Polika. They offered the Buddha's face and honey, and the Buddha taught them the precepts of refuge. These two were the earliest Upasaka disciples.

Why do we Buddhist believers refrain from killing, stealing, committing sexual misconduct (a precept for becoming a monk), lying, drinking, and these five precepts, and we must strictly abide by them.Keep clean and don't commit crimes. The main reason for these five evils is that if a practitioner does not stop them, do them at will, and sink deeper and deeper, then they will fall into the three paths and suffer immeasurably according to cause and effect, life after life, and kalpa after kalpa. There is a way of transcending rebirth and leaving suffering. The ancients said: "Think of the suffering in hell and arouse Bodhicitta early."Accept and uphold the pure precepts, be diligent and do not violate them.

As for the five precepts, if we fully abide by them, then we will be able to meet the ten virtues, and then we will follow the blessings of the heavenly way and follow them constantly. If you violate it, you will fall into the three evil places of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, with all kinds of suffering and extreme pain.If we can only observe one or two precepts due to various reasons, we can certainly keep our body intact. We must know that the longevity of all living beings is determined by the number of precepts we take.If one precept is taken as one precept, it is called one upasaka.Or take two precepts, it is a few precepts, and three precepts are half precepts.Accepting the four precepts is multi-part precepts.Accepting and keeping the five precepts is the full score of Upasaka or Upasaka.

The first rule of the Buddha's precepts is not to kill or harm life, and its meaning is very important. We can think about it, among the Buddhist scriptures and repentance, there is a book called "Compassionate Samadhi Water Repentance", why is it called Samadhi Water Repentance?Samadhi is one of the main practice skills of Buddhism. For example: when reciting the Buddha’s name in the cause of the ground, mentioning the inherent wisdom of the self-nature, reflecting the light back and forth, and reciting the Buddha with one heart, reciting today, tomorrow and even all the time. Intermittent, until the state of one mind is not disturbed, it is called the Buddha-recitation samadhi. The water of water repentance refers to samadhi water, and repentance means repentance. For example, invite the great virtuous master to form an altar, practice according to the ritual of repentance, and repent wholeheartedly.Regret the karma, sin, and retribution of many lifetimes, rely on the Buddha's power to take in and accept, and the Buddha's benevolent light shines all over, so as to eliminate the three obstacles, release knots and resolve grievances.
