Chapter 35 Three to five changes

I remember the lament of Confucius on the river: "The dead are like husbands! They never give up day and night." This feeling is shallowly caused by nostalgia for the past, and deeply caused by fear of old age and death. But whether it is love or fear, the objective situation is still the same as the dead. Here we are talking about social issues, so we have to avoid Homecoming and focus on life and changes in living conditions. We are destined to live in a world where time is the frame and everything is in motion. There are big movements, such as the inferred universe is expanding and the Milky Way is rotating.and so on; there are small ones, like pulse beats, breathing, and so on.Movement leads to change. Here we focus on man-made changes, because the earth revolves around the sun, so there are seasonal changes on the ground, whether you welcome it or not, it will still change.Man-made changes, or changes in cultural development, are closely related to human suffering and happiness, so their conditions, and if there are any problems, deserve special attention.

Let me talk about the change first. This is very complicated, and I will only talk about some aspects of the big meat.It becomes intermittent, generally more continuous and less intermittent.Take clothing as an example, suddenly the suit seems to be elegant, some people have the courage to follow the trend, make a suit, change it, this is a break; but when they get home, they may take off the suit and still wear it, this is a continuation, and, by the group Look, maybe there are more people going out of the house and it's still the same, this is also a continuation. This intermittent situation is more obvious in the mind. For example, before and after the May Fourth Movement, many people also advocated the vernacular, but they still used classical Chinese when writing letters and diaries. This is a good example. This situation tells us that when a certain way of life has become a habit, it is not easy to categorically abandon the old and start a new one, even if the new one is better. There are big and small changes, such as private ownership becomes public ownership, belief in idealism becomes belief in materialism, it is a big change; flat bottoms are replaced by high heels, and belief in Guanyin Bodhisattva is replaced by faith, which is a small change.Big changes are difficult, because the distance from old habits is too large, and it is not easy to adapt in a short period of time. There are good and bad changes.Generally speaking, the change is always moved from the valley to the arbor, such as changing the plank to Simmons, it will be much more comfortable to lie down. But not all. This is objective. For example, in the past few years, if no crown becomes crowned, it is tantamount to falling into hell. There are subjective things, such as bitter tea becoming Coca-Cola, some old people are not used to drinking it, and they don't welcome it.There is also a difference between mind and matter or inside and outside. As mentioned above, changing from belief in idealism to belief in materialism is a change in the heart, and changing the board to Simmons is a change in the outside world. The heart, as if it is different from things, is not hard and rigid, but when it comes to changing, it is often more difficult.

There is a reason.Generally speaking, it is to seek fulfillment. This heart should be the heart of oneself.Say should, because it may, or often, be the heart of others. For example, changing the plank for Simmons is to satisfy one's own heart, but adding a crown is the opposite, but to satisfy the heart of others.Besides Suixin, why don't you say that from bad to good?Because such as crowning, or magnifying, changing the dynasty, it does not necessarily mean changing from bad to good; there is also a situation, such as playing with ancient coins for a long time, getting a little bored, and changing to stamp collecting. There seems to be no difference between the two, just Just ask for it.This is the view of the beholder. From the perspective of subjective desire, the situation is different. It might as well be said that they all seek to move from the valley to the arbor. If you seek truth, you will change, and the reasons can be very different from internal and external.Internally, it is inconvenient for me, such as drinking blood into fire and food, and the vertebral wheel into a large body, the establishment of the Military Aircraft Department in the early years of the Qing Dynasty, and the establishment of the Prime Minister's Office for National Affairs in the later years. The outside is based on comparing it with something other than oneself, and feels that others are good, at least it is not bad to accept it, so it changes: such as the welcome of Mr. And karaoke, both.No matter what the reason is, there are problems of difficulty in changing, but only difficult, there are two main obstacles. One, almost all people, especially the elderly, want to let go of the old one. On the one hand, it will be difficult to adapt, and on the other hand, they will have a sense of loss, that is, they will all bring small pains and sufferings, so they are not welcome. .The other is that some people change their own vested interests. For example, if the autocratic monarchy is changed to a parliamentary system, those who have the final say will not agree.

As far as the group is concerned, change has two sides: the general trend changes from bad to good; but each part of it.Specifically speaking, a change in a certain period or in a certain form may also bring suffering, even great suffering. The change of dynasty in the old era is a prominent example. The new rulers are all obtained immediately, that is to say, after a war (with very few exceptions, such as Cao Wei's replacement of the Han Dynasty, that is, the war has moved forward and the outcome has been determined). In war, when you raise your sword and gun, you will no longer be reasonable, and you will no longer care about morality and law. The people who suffer are naturally the common people, and the serious ones are killed or committed suicide (mostly women), and the second is also displaced. When the war ceases and the new ruler ascends the throne, small changes in the system are inevitable, and major changes in personnel are inevitable, and problems such as influence and difficulty in adapting come again. So it's no wonder that not only those in the court, but also those in the wild, after the Yi Dynasty, went to the Forbidden City and thought of rice millet.

After or in addition to the change of dynasty, there may also be changes that have a great impact on the life of the group. This kind of change usually comes from the slightest thought and golden words of those in power, and then often changes with the order of the day and night. For example, in the early Qing Dynasty, conquered men were forced to shave their hair, and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom forced people to worship their heavenly father and brother. From the point of view of the sender, this change means changing from incorrect to correct, from unreasonable to reasonable. The reality faced by the ordered person is that he must choose between obeying the order or dying.Unhappy and unwilling to change, the situation is very pitiful.Poor, because we cannot adapt in a short period of time and must adapt, the result is suffering. On the side of Jinkou Yuyan, only fulfilling one's own ideals (or fantasies) without taking into account the difficulty of adapting to the group is to spoil the growth of the seedlings. When talking about peace, the happiness of the group should be regarded as paramount, and we must not encourage the development of seedlings.

So, doesn't straining cause it to change?Of course it is not like this, it is a change, and two aspects must be taken into account: one aspect is that after the change, it is better to be sure than to remain unchanged, such as railway construction and literacy eradication; the other aspect is to make it easy for groups to adapt, such as regulations School-age children must go to school to receive compulsory education. It is an important principle to consider that it is not difficult for the group to adapt. According to this principle, from the perspective of the group, if changes can be divided into active and passive, then we should try our best to be more active and less passive. Also, if changes can be divided into small and large, then we should try our best to make the small become more and the big become less, and even some things are really dispensable. Some people may be worried, saying that if you talk about changes in this way, won’t the way of governing peace become followerism? In fact, this is not the case, because those who follow in parallel, or advance in advance, should have a general direction and allow them to take advantage of the situation. To say that they follow only puts public opinion first, and does not rely on whims to make drastic changes, so that the group cannot adapt, so that both the happiness of the people and the effectiveness of the measures will be lost. That's all.
