Chapter 28 The author's rewriting in 1760

In the latter part of the Ninth Chapter of Nao Xue Tang, Baoyu's words are recorded, and the manuscripts from Qianlong Jimao (1759) to 1953 are roughly the same.Here is an example of Zhiyan Zhaiji Maoben: Uncle Rui is the villain against us, he listened to people scolding us, and even instigated them to beat us.Mingyan sees people bullying me, how can he not do it for me.They fought back and smoked tea, and even broke Qin Zhong's head, what kind of books are they still studying here. Until recently, it was written like this in the notebook, and it seems that there is nothing wrong.But this is not the case for the Gengchen edition of Zhiyanzhai (1760).

On the contrary, the uncle sent us not to listen to everyone scolding us, but also to instigate them to beat us. Mingyan even broke Qin Zhong's head. Why are you still reading here? Mingyan is also because someone bullied me. If you look carefully, you will know that this book is good, but all the books are wrong.What is particularly interesting is that Jimao's version looks like this, and Gengchen's version looks like this, indicating that this passage was changed by Cao Xueqin between 1759 and 1760.Why did he change it like this?It must be because Baoyu's words here must be consistent with the above facts.

Preface the fallacies of each book.For example, "he even instigated them to beat us", but they didn't beat Qin Zhong and Baoyu.He also said that "they beat up the guys and played Mingyan".When will the masses get up and have a big fight?According to this description, it seems that they first wanted to beat Baoyu and Qin Zhong, then Mingyan came in to help Baoyu, beat Mingyan again, and finally broke Qin Zhong's head.Is the reader trying to check the above?If that's not the case, isn't Baoyu blackmailing people there, making rumors and making troubles, turning black and white!In any case, this is by no means commensurate with the identity and personality of Baoyu, the owner of the book.

Let’s talk about the best of Gengben.To quote the previous text, add a few sentences: On the contrary, the uncle sent us, listening to everyone scolding us, and instigating them to beat us with Mingyan, even broke Qin Zhong's head, what are you still studying here.Mingyan also bullied me because of someone.It's better to leave. Contrary to the previous example, the sentences are in line with the facts. "Our Mingyan" is read consecutively. To Li Gui, we tea smokers are still talking about our Mingyan.The so-called above: There is a long board for dancing, and Mingyan has eaten a bit earlier.

Then he said, "Hit us with tea", of course it is true. "Even Qin Zhong's head was broken" means that they never hit Qin Zhong with peace of mind, which implies that they hit Qin Zhong by mistake.As above: Qin Zhong's head hit Jin Rong's board early, causing a layer of oily skin. The book does not say that Jin Rong's board hit Qin Zhong, but that Qin Zhong's head hit Jin Rong's board; so Baoyu only said here that "even Qin Zhong's head was broken".Lianzhe means to implicate.Talking about Mingyan's accident, he said: Mingyan also bullied me because of someone.

Although the grammar of this sentence is not very good, the meaning is understandable, and it is not bad.Although it was wrong for Mingyan to make trouble, he did it because someone bullied his master.Baoyu's words have the meaning of defending Mingyan.Finally said: It's better to leave. This summary is decisive in behavior and absolutely indispensable.If it is like "what book are you still studying here", it is not enough to end with a mere discussion tone.Li Gui persuaded "brother, don't be impatient", Yunyun, and addressed this "it's better to break up".

After careful analysis, I found out that Zhigeng's version is excellent here, with appropriate words, precise words, and a well-balanced tone, which is in line with Baoyu's identity at that time, and also in line with the status of the owner of the book. It is the author's final draft No doubt about it.
