sequence (1984 edition) Lu Shuxiang I have known Comrade BOC for 30 years, but because we live far away, we seldom see each other several times a year.I know his pen is restless, but I don't know what he is writing.About half a year ago, I saw an article "Usages of Classical Chinese" written by him in "Chinese Teaching".I think this will not be an isolated article, and I don't know if there are any other companion articles.Sure enough, one day, he came to me with a pack of manuscripts. He said: "here are articles on how to learn classical Chinese. There are ten articles in total, plus an appendix on reference books. You can read them and give your comments. Also, I plan to print them into a small book. I haven't read them yet." Think about the title of the book, too." He left the manuscript behind, and I opened it to look, and the one that used allusions was impressively included.

The other nine articles are equally profound and fascinating. From the different shapes, different meanings, and different uses of ancient and modern characters, to the differences between ancient and modern customs and habits reflected in the characters, and to the difficulties caused by the differences in banknote transfer and block engraving, and so on.In short, with the qualifications of someone who has experienced it, I will point out to the reader the difficulties that may be encountered in learning classical Chinese, and tell him how to overcome them.Just like an experienced obstacle runner instructs the latecomers how to pass through the various obstacles. After more than half a month, comrades from the Bank of China came to retrieve the manuscript and asked me how I was doing.

I said, "This is a very useful book, so feel free to publish it." He said, "You haven't given a name yet." I said, "The purpose of this book is to introduce readers to classical Chinese. World, why not call it "Wandering in the Classical Chinese World"? If you think this name is too fashionable and you like something more quaint, then you might as well call it." He said, "Okay! That's it." So he was very happy, and I was also very happy. It is for sequence. June 29, 1982
