Once the skill of telling lies is taken as experience by some people, the meaning of truth is dead.Truth, like all living things, needs a suitable "living environment".If there is no such "living environment" as the premise, those who tell the truth will appear foolish, while those who tell lies will appear smart and cute.如此一来，即使社会的良知和文明一再呼吁、要求、鼓励说真话，真话也会像埋人深士不会发芽的种子一样沉默着，而假话却能处处招摇过市畅通无阻。 这也真是一种可悲。 我们已然有了三亿多儿童和少年，却还有那么多的男青年和女青年硬要往这三亿之众的一部分末成年的中国小人儿里边挤。甚至三十来岁了，仍嗲声嗲气对社会喋喋不休地宣称自己不过是“男孩儿”和“女孩儿”。那种故作儿童状的心态，证明他们和她们是多么乞求伶爱、溺爱、宠爱…… 这其中不乏当代之中国大学生。 问题还不仅仅在于“男孩儿”、“女孩儿”这一种自幻心理是多么可笑的心理疾病，问题更在于——它还导致一种似乎可以命名为“男孩儿文化”和“女孩儿文化”的“文化疟疾”。这“文化疟疾”，首先在大众文化中蔓延，进而侵蚀一切文化领域。于是不知从哪一天开始，中国之当代文化，不经意间就变得这样了——娇滴滴，嗲兮兮，甜丝丝，轻飘飘，黏黏糊糊的一团。 人对人的爱心应是高于一切的，是社会起码的也是必要的原则。当这一原则遭到歪曲时，人不应驯服为时代的奴隶。获得这一种很平凡的思想，我们当年付出了怎样的代价啊！ ... 当时代发展的利益还不能平等地具体到一切人身上的时候，当时代发展的负面强烈地固扰某些人的时候，人便企图同时代保持某种距离。于是人与社会的中介关系便产生。中国式的“社团”是中国人和中国目前时代的“扬长避短”的选择。既是被动的，亦是主动的。普遍的中国人，希望通过它的产生，感受社会发展的利益，削弱社会发展的负面的固扰。并且，希望它是“小而全”的。希望三十六行七十二业都囊括其中。那么换煤气、孩子入托、转学、生病、住院、往火葬场送葬，似乎一切都有了受“关照”的可能了。我常想，一位主治医生，一位外科或内科以及其它医科的专家，在一切人际圈子中，其特殊地位大概不蕾是一位“教父”吧？ 贵族——我以为，更应作这样的解释——人类中心灵很高贵的那一部分人，或曰那一“族”人。他们和她们的心灵之光，普照着我们，使我们在自私、惟利是图，相互嫉妒、相互倾轧、相互坑骗、相互侵犯的时候，还能受着羞耻感的最后约制…… 几年来我自己的心灵受着种种的诱惑和侵蚀，它疤疤痢痢的，已越来越不堪自视了。亏我还没彻底泯灭了自省的本能，所以才从不屑于去冒充“贵族”。更不敢自溺是什么“精神贵族”…… 愿别的中国人比我幸运，不但皆渐渐的“贵族”起来，而且也还有那么一点儿精神可盲…… 人的生存，依赖于两大环境。自然环境和人文环境。人文环境是相当复杂的命题，与政治环境、经济环境、文化环境有着太密切的关系，并非每个人出于良好的愿望便能作积极有益的奉献。自然环境的问题，虽然也不是一个简单的命题，但相对于人文环境而言，毕竟单纯得多。爱护花草总比关心他人是更容易号召的事，愿意义务植树的人总比愿意义务输血的人多。美好的自然环境需要爱护。不美好的自然环境更需要治理，需要改造。自然环境其实也是宇宙生命总体的概念。当代人尊重生命美化生活的文明意识和文明愿望，在保护自然环境的前提下，含意将会、也应该会更为宽泛…… 尤其令从事环境保护事业和环境文学研究的朋友们欣慰的，则肯定将是这样一个值得乐观的事实，那便是——自然环境的绿化和美化，无疑会促进人文环境的“绿化”和优化。这一点早巳被人类的科学态度和文明观念证明是世界性的具有普遍意义的经验了。经过绿化和美化的自然环境，可以向人们提供享受一片劳菲幽静之地方，赏心悦目时，呼吸些新鲜空气，化解胸中块垒，重新鼓足热爱生活的信心和勇气。热爱生活之情，促美化环境之事，为之，不亦悦乎？人人为之，人人悦乎矣！ 有一个真实承认起来未免使我们当代人又沮丧又无奈，而且难为情，那就是——当代的人类越来越儿童心理了。儿童心理趋向显然的当代人，需要嬉戏、需要游戏、需要玩耍什么。正如儿童在需要泡泡糖、雪糕、“娃哈哈”之外，还需要电子游戏机。 历史学家认为人类还很年轻。其实人类已经老了。 在文化艺术方面——娱乐的心理毫无疑问地是普遍压倒了欣赏的愿望。就具体说影视吧，全地球似乎只有美国生产电影就够了。因为美国的电影是最具娱乐性的。人类用了半个多世纪的时间将电影从“杂耍”上升为艺术，现在又开始将它从艺术回归到“杂耍”，只不过技术更高级了。 柿树的叶子，那一抹金边儿，黄得更深，更烂漫了。实际上，每一片叶子，其主体基本已是金黄色了。仅剩与叶柄相近的那一部分还是墨绿的。倘形容一个月前的叶子，如碧玉，被精工巧匠镶了色彩对比赏心悦目的金黄，那么此时的叶子，仿佛每一片都是用金铂百砸千锤而成，并且嵌上了一颗墨绿的珠宝。这样的万千美丽的叶子，无风时刻，在晴朗天空的衬托下，在阳光的照耀下，如一幅足以使人凝佐目光的油画。一幅出自大师之手的点彩派油画。有风抚过，万千叶子抖瑟不止，金黄墨绿闪耀生辉，涌动成一片奇妙的半空彩波，令人产生诗的情思。而雨天里，乳雾笼罩之中，则更是另一番幽寂清郁了…… 真正的作家从来都是与人民的心相通的。 真正的作家的灵魂之中永远保留着人民的位置。 “人民”二字对真正的作家从来不是抽象的名词或概念。 这一点事实不由他们的笔是否只写人民来判定，而由他们的情感幅度来证实。在这一前提之下，他们的笔为识字的人尤其为有阅读习惯的人们而创作，他们却用心去关注那些可能不识字的在贫穷的泥淖中匍匐的人们。也许有人轻蔑这一种情愫，说这不过是同情。但如果没有了一些人对另一些人的同情，也便没有了一些人希望能为另一些人做些什么的冲动。那么世界上大概就只剩下了人为自己做什么的冲动。而世界真到了这种地步，是连仁慈的上帝也会产生厌恶的。 我们已处在这样一个时代的人口处——它似乎将一切法则都归结到了金钱本身的法则上。于是它使一切人的头脑都变得极端简单化了。于是它使它本身的特点也变得极端简单化了。简单得直截了当而且粗鄙…… 近来我听到一种说法——传统在台湾，法制在香港，腐败在大陆。 这当然是很偏激的说法。我相信台湾和香港也自有他们的腐败。并且进一步相信，腐败在这个世界上到处都存在。只不过程度不同罢了。 但一个事实是——大陆，也就是我们共和国肌体上发生的腐败现象，的确是到了这样一种程度——它几乎使我们大多数国民，在每一个月里都能深切地感受到它对我们日常生活的侵蚀。正因为已经到了这样的程度，老百姓才祈祷反腐败能够对我们共和国的肌体，从真正意义上起到一次清除作用。 而另一个事实是——的确，腐败已然侵蚀到了公检法部门。即使不能说非常之严重，也可以说是相当之严重了。 这就难免会使普遍的者百姓，对我们共和国的前景感到沮丧和悲观了。 因为，普遍的老百姓，对于所谓权钱交易，耳濡目染的，似乎早已司空见惯了。 我也许会站在今天写明年和后年我预测可能发生的事，却绝不会，永远也不会，铺开稿纸，吸着姻，潜心地去编织一个很古久的故事。 即使我下了天大的决心，写下第一行宇以后，我也肯定会跳将起来反问我自己——我这是怎么了？我为什么要这样？What's the point?虽然，我十分明白，写历史是多么稳妥的选择。因为那样，差不多只有那样，一个中国的当代作家，才能既当着作家，又不至于和当代，尤其是和当代的主宰者们，发生在所难免的矛盾，抵触和冲撞。并且，毫无疑问地，虽然民主程度已较宽松(我感觉是这样，实际上也是这样，但愿我的感觉是对的)，但在冲撞之中，可想而知，下场大为不妙的也肯定是作家本人。 “百姓”这个词，过去本是对皇帝、皇族、朝廷命官以及他们的阶层而言的。在京都，过去是对每天上金銮殿持侯朝的人、大商人、大员外之类以外的一切人的统称。在地方，比如在一个县，则便是对除了县官、县官周围的人，以及县内名流和富绅们以外的一切人的统称了。 我曾从内心里惧怕那一种“汪洋大海”。 因为，毕竟的，我是一个虞诚地拥护改革开放的人。而且，曾自认为是一个够乐观的改革开放信仰主义者。为“改革开放”这四个字，我确曾尽我的全力呐喊过。但是，那也不行。一旦我被那一种“汪洋大海”所氛围，我这个改革开放信仰主义者便前仰后合起来。我感到，它——那“汪洋大海”，要同化我，要改变我自信的对中国现实的总体看法，要把我变成它的一小簇泡沫，竟是那么简单那么的轻而易举的事。问题还在于，这写出来都够令我自己对自己感到沮丧感到悲观的——它根本就不打算同化你。它根本就不屑于同化你。你是无可选择地，别无它法地，甚至是理所当然地就被同化了。 我以为，在全中国，大概顶数北京人的道听途说最不容作轻挑的讽刺了。因为我所闻知的事情，十之六七后来成为事实。 比如首钢那位因以权谋私贪污腐化被判了死刑的副局级干部的事，比如长城债券的事，比如前北京市委书记陈希同的事……早在由新闻媒介向社会公布之前，民间传媒就已经将内幕“报道”得极尽其详了。就连中央政治局乃至政治局常委们的某一次人事变动，民间传媒也往往是拖在新闻报道之前的。其准确率绝不亚于什么所谓权威人士的预见。 皇城根下的子民们几乎可以说差不多想要知道什么事就可以知道个大概。 作为执政者们，应从此中惕引出一种警告，那就是——在今天这样一个时代，没有什么腐败是能够被任何一种铁幕所彻底遮掩永远遮掩的。除非你没有参与。除非你的三亲六故你的子女们也和你一样没有参与。只要你参与了，只要你的三亲六故你的子女们参与了，老百姓就会知道。首先是北京的老百姓们会知道。接着全国的老百姓就会知道。他们一旦看在眼里，也就同时记在心里了。你不能怪他们眼睛像长了钩子，专门盯在你身上。因为这在老百姓，叫作监督的本能。 领袖和政治家这绝对是两个档次上的概念。你素质上充其量不过是一个政治家，只能是一个政治家，你在历史上的地位就命中注定地摆那儿了。不管有多少鼓吹者替你怎么鼓吹，你还是一个政治家。你必须得承认素质决定论。领袖则不同了。领袖这一词本身就带有伟大的人民性。领袖之对人民，是仅次于上帝的人物。人民感觉到了人民在他心目中的位置是别的什么所不可取替的，人民就信赖于他了，就崇拜于他了。哪怕他犯了最严重的错误，人民都最大程度地原谅他。上帝也犯错误。《圣经》里记载着上帝犯的错误。可上帝拥有的信徒依然是这个世界上最多的。今天不会再有一个中国人坚持说大跃进、人民公社、“文化大革命”就是好了。除非是疯子。
