Chapter 246 Preface to "Fu Ting Miscellaneous Notes"

Twenty-three years ago, I wrote some short essays one after another, entitled "Small Notes from the Gleaners".That is to write down some visits, interviews, theaters, listening to songs that left an impression on me, or touching epigrams in books, newspapers and periodicals, and a few words in conversations with friends. It was a pity not to write it down, so I wrote it when I saw it, and wrote it when I remembered it, and finally compiled a "Xiaozha Gleaners".The writing process of this small book was supported and urged by the editor comrades of the "Beijing Evening News".I still thank them to this day.

After returning from a visit to Japan in 1980, due to overdue translation tasks, unfortunately he suffered from a cerebral thrombosis, and later he suffered from a broken right leg, so he was unable to participate in all social activities.Of course, it is impossible to visit, interview, watch a play, or listen to a song.I am an active person, "closed residence" is a pain for me!Every time someone from Fujian, my hometown, persuades me to visit Wuyi; or Yantai, my second hometown, invites me to revisit Dongshan, etc., I think of two sentences: "Speak quietly and think about it, you can't fly hard"!This inability to do what I want often makes me so sad that I cry secretly.Fortunately, in addition to my limited mobility, my brain can still think, and my right hand can also write. At the same time, some modern conveniences, such as radio, TV, some books, newspapers, and friends' visits and letters, make I can still see and hear their voices, content, creations and some information from home and abroad in the "closed residence", which makes me feel comforted.

But I also often think of two lines of Cao Cao's poem: "The old man stands on the ground, and his ambition is a thousand miles away." Whether it is a straight horse or a rough horse, "Fu Ting" is the same.In recent years, I wake up very early, and often my eyes are bright in the middle of the night.Although there is no "aspiration for a thousand miles" and the long night is long, the past events of the past few decades are coming one after another. If they were all written down, I thought it would be interesting, so I wrote "Fu Ting Miscellaneous Notes".
