Chapter 56 Impressions of visiting Japan

The delegation of Chinese writers left Japan on the rainy morning of December 3 last year. Our plane soon ascended to an altitude of 31,000 feet, and the sea of white clouds supported the clear blue sky. When I thought of our Japanese friends who were full of farewell emotions, amidst the sound of gloomy rain, they woke up. When I walked out of Haneda Airport on the wet road with an umbrella, my heart couldn't help but feel heavy. I sat on the plane, closed my eyes, and relived the tense and enjoyable four weeks we spent in Japan.I'm grateful and I'm excited!I deeply feel the close cultural exchanges between the writers and people of our two countries for thousands of years, especially the fighting friendship for the common goal of "opposing imperialism and defending world peace" in the past ten years , which cannot be hindered by any external force. Our golden, solid and jade-clean friendship is just like two converging springs, rushing happily and swiftly. Its brave and majestic singing inspired the Chinese and Japanese people on both sides of the strait to march forward hand in hand for their own happiness and freedom.

From the clear spring flowing in front of my eyes, many lovely and familiar faces emerged, reminding me of many touching stories, and these stories can't be finished in just a few tens of minutes .For example, in the sitting room of Mr. Nakajima Kenzo, in addition to the Chinese calligraphy and paintings all over the wall, there is also a glass cabinet, which is filled with his most beloved Chinese rare animal - panda images made of porcelain and cloth. There are also panda stamps and boxes of panda cigarettes. All these quickly brought my heart back to the Beijing Zoo not far from my home.

In the living room of Mr. Inoue Yasushi, there is a photo of the National Day parade in front of Tiananmen Square in Beijing, which he took himself. This photo is an artistic creation, and the characters and buildings are dyed with a layer of beautiful lavender. brilliant! In the guest rooms of the famous scholar Mr. Suekawa Hiroshi and the famous playwright Mr. Yoshio Ita, there is a famous line written by Lu Xun written by a Japanese literati: "Hengmei coldly pointed at thousands of men, bowed his head willingly as a willing ox". On both sides of the glass-roofed balcony of Mr. Bai Shifan’s house, there are a pair of Chinese red gauze lanterns hanging, which are full of joy in the surrounding green courtyard. We really don’t know how he brought this pair of huge decorations back. Japan's.Mr. Yasunari Kawabata, a famous writer, met us for the first time, but as if he was reunited with an old friend, he enthusiastically presented many Chinese antiques and famous paintings for us to appreciate. When we are at the home of Japanese friends, we can often drink "Moutai" wine and drink "Zhonghua"

Cigarettes, looking at Chinese calligraphy and painting cultural relics, these common appreciation things have brought our hearts closer.Among the many large and small gatherings, I would like to mention two memorable meetings: one was Mr. Fumio Niwa at the Nadaman Restaurant in Tokyo, where he invited us to a dinner with many well-known writers.I haven't seen him for two years. Mr. Niwa is as healthy as ever, talking and laughing happily. At the table was Mr. Tatsuzo Ishikawa, our comrade in arms who fought together for the unity and progress of Asian and African writers at the Tokyo Conference two years ago.And Mr. Ito Sho is our old acquaintance at the Tashkent meeting five years ago.He graciously came over to reminisce about the old days, his brows overflowed with affection.

Also present here is Mr. Seicho Matsumoto, our new friend, who has a strong interest in China. We hope to welcome him in Beijing in the near future. What touched us the most was the 70-year-old Mr. Hirotsu Kazuro, who came here from Kamakura specially for the banquet. We have very fond memories of the event that night. Another time, it was a gathering of female writers, Ohara Tomieda, who invited me to her small and exquisite home, and also invited Tsuboi Sakae, Sata Inago, Yuki Shigeko, and Shibaki Takako to accompany me. My favorite "sashimi" was prepared, and the banquet was full of joyful and lively atmosphere.

Here, I can't help but recall some larger gatherings, such as the symposium we had with some Chinese literature researchers and literary youths, including the Kyoto University Institute of Humanities, the Kyoto Democratic Literature Society, the University of Tokyo's Chinese Literature Research Office , the Chinese Literature Research Office of Tokyo Metropolitan University, the Chinese Children’s Literature Research Association, etc. We have had extremely sincere and cordial discussions with them. They have shown infinite concern for everything about Chinese literature, old and new. It has inspired us a lot, and some young people have written long and passionate letters to individual writers among us.

I have said a lot in trivial terms, and every memory gives me a kind of joy. We and Japanese writers and people all firmly believe that "parting is the beginning of reunion". The restoration of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries, and for the normal exchanges between the two peoples, we will do our best. The next time we meet, whether in China, Japan, or anywhere on the earth, there will be For our lofty ideals, for the happiness of our descendants, and for the peaceful life of all mankind, let us continue to work hard, continue to struggle, and welcome our triumphant reunion!
