About fairness (1) What is fairness? For me, fairness means that there is a rule for doing everything, and then everyone acts according to this rule. Some people think that fairness means that everyone should get the same thing. I never agree with it. I think that is not fair, it is egalitarianism. Hong Kong is a fair society.In Hong Kong, everyone can do things according to their own choices and rules. The middle class in Hong Kong who are around forty years old now, most of their parents immigrated to Hong Kong from the mainland. When they were young, they all grew up in crowded government housing or private cubicles.Because of their own efforts, studying hard, and working hard, now they all have a completely different life from their parents.

The struggle paths chosen by these people are not the same. Some of them roll around in the mall, while others achieve success in the professional field. Although the jobs and paths they take are different, they all have one thing in common. It is all personal efforts, and more importantly, they can live in a society that advocates fairness, which makes them what they are today and become the mainstream of society. Only a fair society can allow people to concentrate on their own work, and do not need to spend their minds on other methods.A fair mechanism requires the rule of law and law-abiding people.

Sometimes, I think about myself, I am really glad that I can live in Hong Kong.In Hong Kong, the image of new immigrants is often very negative, because each new immigrant family faces more pressure in life, which will cause more problems.But Hong Kong is a fair society. Although there is discrimination, as long as you can integrate yourself into this society, you still have the same opportunities. I still remember that I signed up for a master's program at a university in Hong Kong. It was 1996 and I haven't returned yet.Most universities do not recognize undergraduate degrees from mainland universities, even well-known universities in the mainland.I need to take GRE.Then there is a written test and an interview.But another colleague of mine, who graduated from a lesser-known university in the United States, only had to pass an interview and was admitted.

Although I thought it was a little unfair, it turned out that I was also accepted by this school.Because I did everything it asked, and I did it well.Later I thought, in fact, this is fairness. Although I have to spend more effort, only in this way can others understand my ability. The most important thing is that although the threshold is higher, in the final analysis, you can see that door. Many people complain that this society is too unfair. As a reporter, I have seen many unfair things happen.The question is, how do we survive in such an environment. Some people say that a company is a small society. In every company, there will always be intrigues and unfair things happening.I also had this feeling a few years ago. In the company, sometimes I feel that I have worked so hard, but I get less rewards and opportunities than others.I was unhappy for a while, and then I asked myself, what do I want?

I thought about leaving and offered my resignation.The management of the company is very serious about keeping me, and I feel their sincerity.I feel that I am a good employee in their minds.In fact, for me, this is enough, because it turns out that my dedication has been seen by others.I would think this is fair to me. I never compare income with my colleagues, but compare the number of columns, but many friends will fight for me. Instead, they want me to comfort them, as long as I feel that the ratio of giving and receiving is reasonable, that is enough.If it feels unreasonable and unfair, I will choose to try to change it, and if I can't change it, I will choose to leave.

How to make people treat yourself fairly, first of all, you need to make others feel that you are a capable person and a person who deserves opportunities. In the TV station I work in, or in other TV stations, I can find that when important things happen, those few faces always come and go.It's not fair for others that we have all the opportunities.I think this is a rule of the game. In our industry, the more important an event is, the more we cannot tolerate any mistakes.At this time, as a manager and as an audience, we can only trust those experienced and tested reporters. My deputy and I have different views on how to distribute interviews.She believes that opportunities should be equal, so that it is fair to colleagues.I insist that opportunities should be given selectively.

Once, under the principle of trying to equal opportunities, an inexperienced reporter accepted a major interview assignment.As a result, with our trepidation and full cooperation, the daily news reports were finally able to be sent back and broadcast before the deadline, but when it was her turn to make the on-site telephone connection, that is, she could only rely on herself, she went out several times wrong. After the interview, she was transferred to another department because her superiors believed that she was not suitable to work as a reporter. To give such an example, I want to say that in many cases, we should not complain about why it is always so unfair and always feel underappreciated. Instead, we should first improve our abilities and let others trust us before we are qualified to talk fairness issue.

About fairness (2) I see a lot of people, when they do things with offside moves for themselves, they always have this reason, that if I don't, I won't be able to survive.And this society also tolerates such behavior and reasons.So slowly, such behaviors and reasons become a matter of course. I don't believe that everyone in this world will be equal in the end, but I believe that this world can be fair.And this fairness is created by people.And if we don't believe in and respect the word fairness, then don't complain, because everything is to blame.
