Chapter 12 The sky is full of stars, but is there still the light of Chima Tianren? (10)

The long summer is over, the autumn rains are still frequent, and the starry flowers in the garden are blooming lively and colorful!Look carefully at each of its little flowers, just like a little star, gathered together like a sky full of stars. For busy modern people, this kind of flowers and plants that can bloom like a brocade without taking care of them are the easiest to plant. It is just like the starry sky that is always there no matter where you are. Hey!How bright the stars are tonight! In the dark night sky, dots of stars twinkle, as if there are countless pairs of gods looking down at me.From ancient times to the present, under the vast starry sky, how many people have looked up at the stars? What kind of starry sky did they see? What Li Bai saw was "the long song sings the pine wind, the song is full of stars and the river is sparse", while Du Fu saw "the stars are flat and wild, the moon is surging and the river is flowing"; and Van Gogh's "starry sky" is hung high with shining blue Stars... Whether the sky is full of stars or the moon is sparse, where are those romantic figures under the starry sky now?Thousands of years pass by in a flash, things change and stars move, and life is so cool again!

The world is impermanent, birth, old age, sickness, and death are the journeys that everyone must go through.Throughout the ages, who can stay young forever and live forever?I think of the story of the Chima celestial being in the "Miscellaneous Agama Sutra": a celestial being with a solemn appearance and a radiant body came to the Buddha like a star falling to the ground. He said: "Who on earth can go to the edge of the world and reach the state of no birth, no old age, and no death?" Buddha said: "You can't get there by walking." The heavenly man said: "I used to be a heretic celestial being named Chima in my past life. I used my supernatural powers to investigate the boundaries of the world, so I was running all the time. Even so, I walked wildly for a hundred years until I died of old age, but I still couldn't see it. To the edge of the world!"

The Buddha told Chima: "Our five aggregates such as form, feeling, thought, action, and consciousness are the world. The world is formed by craving; when craving is cut off, the world will disappear. To reach the edge of the world, we must practice the Noble Eightfold Path. : Right View, Right Thought, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, Right Concentration, one can overcome craving, end suffering, walk through the world, and reach the state of no birth, no aging, and no death.” After listening to the Buddha's discourse, the red horse celestial being, who was full of joy, flashed his body, and a stream of light disappeared into the night instantly.

To reach the state of no birth, no aging, and no death, we must cut off our inner craving instead of chasing outwards, because our body and mind are the world, and to reach the edge of the world, we must see how to transcend troubles - this is what the Buddha told Chima Heavenly. This teaching is like the starlight in the dark night, illuminating the way forward for practice. The night is as cool as water, and in the sky full of stars, is there still the light of a red horse? (This picture is provided by Wu Xiaodan)
