——Thinking of Mr. Ai Luo Xianke's drama review Mr. Lu Xun translated Ai Luo Xianke's "Records of Observing Peking University Students' Plays and Yenching Girls' School Plays", published in "Morning News Supplement" on January 6 .Thanks to Mr. Zhang for introducing us to the sincere lesson of a world writer to us playwrights, and this is the first thing we want to thank. After reading the first paragraph of Mr. Ai Luochenko's writing, we should always have the impression of a heavy oppressive spirit, so that we wept, so we worked hard.In a country as lonely as 120,000, like today's China, it can be said that "there is no drama"!So talk about "good drama"?How about "a drama played by men and women together"?The darkness of our previous kingdom was even worse than today's!In the past two years, there was really no group dedicated to art; if Mr. Ai Luoxianke had gone to China at that time, how lonely and uncomfortable it would be!We are really pitiful, although there are many fathers and brothers who do not allow their children to appear on the stage, but they have always been willing to devote themselves to art, and those who came to be pioneers have not flinched; this has opened up a new era of "theatrical career that loves beauty (6) for art". The roots of art and drama "began to sprout on the desert land. That's why Chinese dramas are only gradually coming into existence now, and the old dramas are fighting with us in the "era of restoration of Ming Dynasty", and then the new civilized dramas will also fight us!How dare we neglect?

But we have led from the aspect of "no drama" to "has drama". This cannot be regarded as the fact that today's country is a little brighter than the country of the past!In the past, students did not perform dramas and despised dramas; but now they are vigorously advocating and devoting themselves to artistic dramas; and acting in dramas, this cannot be regarded as a declaration of war by young Chinese students against the old "actors" and their love for art. Faithful expression! Chinese art is so pitiful! Our dedicated people have been shouting for a year or two, and the air is still silent. Where is the fruit of good art? This is probably what "art" is, and the suspicion of ordinary people has not yet been understood! Therefore, up to now, it is hard to find a woman who regards drama as art and is willing to act with men for the sake of art, even though she loves Mr. Luo Xianke and cuts her throat! Now we have no choice but to look for a country that "has drama", and a brighter country that "has good art"; then, "good Chinese art with male and female performances, really, good" can be expected to be produced.

Chinese art, the panic of today, does not diminish the panic of the famine in Mr. Ai Luoxianke's home country!Mr. Ai Luoxianke's laments for our young Chinese male and female students, we only have tears in our hearts and remember them in our hearts.Mr. Ai Luoxianke can only forgive that we are young people in a country that only has drama, and we are beginning to resist the invisible forces of darkness for thousands of years;Compared with the "dark present" and the "darkness of the past", the future will not be "darker"!Comrades who devote themselves to art!Love the heart of Mr. Luo Xianke, let us not forget!

In our efforts, we have learned the lessons of Mr. Luo Xianke, which is not a misfortune, especially for our Peking University students! (I want to declare here that our college students who act in dramas, except for those who perform in foreign languages, are only some of our college students who are members of the Peking University Drama Experimental Club. All the criticisms about acting in dramas can only be accepted by us, and we dare not teach all "college students". "Your Majesty".) Mr. Ai Luoxianke has been in Beijing for nearly a year, and we only performed plays twice. For the first time, Mr. Ai Luoxianke sang at the No. 2 Civilian School Fun Party of Peking University. After singing, he sat in the theater and left for a while. He had just arrived in Beijing at that time, or he was not used to understanding Chinese, and our childish art probably proved to be a failure. The second time, on the first day of the commemorative meeting, he sat behind our stage set and "watched" for a while, and then was helped back by his partner.

Therefore, he said: "College students usually go to 'watch' when they perform dramas!" The result of his two "watches" concluded that our dramas "on the stage, it seems that we don't want to show the drama [7]. The character came", and "instead, I dedicated myself, just trying my best to imitate the appearance of an actor"! "seem"? "I don't want to"?How profound are these words! This is really "the theory of killing the heart"! Mr. Ai Luoxianke can "see" that we are "trying to be actors", and can know that we "do not want to appear as people in the play".This kind of speculation and judgment is too dangerous, too "overlooked" and we don't have any sense of drama!I believe that he "replaces eyes with ears" to watch the theater; but he actually uses "ears" to cut us off. If so, this is the ideal of real art", but I thought it was not as ideal as he had imagined, and that's it!

"Artistic naivety" can be said for those of us acting, "insufficient expressive ability" It can be said that "I don't want to show" no one can be so arbitrary! We believe that since we devote ourselves to art, there will be no shadow of "actors" in our minds. Now "actors" are still our enemies! ——Mr. Ai Luoxianke said that we "learn from actors", but he is too ignorant of the situation in our dark country, and he "sees" us worse than "actors"! How about "Actor's Appearance"?Can Mr. Ailuoxianke discern with his "ears"?Even as he said, can he use his "ears" to recognize that we are "learning actors"?He also said that we who play women have not only become "monkeys" to learn from women, but also are still learning to "play women's roles". Can Mr. Ai Luoxianke recognize the "star role playing a woman" in "Yingling" with his "ears"?Our theater performers are by no means "learned from actors" and "especially play women" as Mr. Ai Luoxianke said; people.Among the actors, no matter who they are, they are not so lacking in vitality, they can't contribute their own efforts, and they are against "learning from actors"; but the lack of ability may even make them think that they are "learning from actors"!Mr. Ai Luoxianke said that we "work hard", "dedicate ourselves", "learn from actors", and criticize our naive art experimenters as a world writer, should we use his speculations to express this attitude? We admire his character and words very much, but his criticism and attitude towards us are really unexpected. I really feel sorry for him!

Is it that the habit of the orientals to "swear and abuse" has infected my dear world writer and caused him to come here, just like he said that we "learn from actors"?Alas! The "college students" are too wronged. We are accused of being "art thieves" because of us who are acting, and we are all "suspected of learning from actors"!The personality of a college student! The personality of a college student! Our college students are devoted to art! (Not just theatrical ones.) Those of us who dare to defile our personality, deliberately imitate "actors", or only "actors" in our eyes, forget the noble and respectable "artists" like Mr. Ai Luoxianke!Alas!Insulted Art Nation!

The more you turn to the light, the more you are insulted, adding a layer of darkness to the Chinese art kingdom! Therefore, comrades in dramas among our college students who are "suspected of learning actors", I dare to declare with them; we all failed to play "The Force of Darkness" at the memorial meeting—maybe all dramas fail— The reasons are: (1) There was not sufficient rehearsal, so that the childish performance could not describe the personality of the characters in the play. The so-called "raw grapes are always a little sour". (2) There is no suitable setting.Since we are dedicated to the drama, the short time prevents us from rehearsing fully. Why do we have to show our shame about the lonely effort and the difficulties of no one to help? But we are devoted to art. There is no help from anyone, and there is no help from anything. Mr. Ai Luoxianke is also a university teacher, so I want to know. Then, how can we actors admit this kind of accusation about the setting? As for "not paying attention to the creation of the theater's emotions", Mr. Ai Luoxianke probably didn't hear it because of his "ears"!We're sorry for not being able to support him with music on the opening day of Forces of Darkness. What's more, that day, Mr. Ai Luoxianke sat behind the backstage set and left in a short while. He didn't "see" the scene of more than 10,000 people in the front stage, but only heard about our actors in the backstage? But on the second day, there is no need to "learn the actor's voice to speak", maybe "learn the actor's movement" pantomime, with Chinese silk and bamboo (sheng, xiao, Suhu, Xinling,) assisted, and the "theatre-like" "The atmosphere" actually caused some problems, but it's a pity that Mr. Ai Luoxianke was not there!Even if he arrives, I'm afraid that the Japanese music will be a bit clumsy, right? An unaffordable, no stove, cold and noisy market, a seat behind the stage in a stadium-style theater, what better than a pay-and-play theater with a gas stove, a newly built auditorium?Originally, art is somewhat "aristocratic", so Mr. Tolstoy's masterpiece, who advocated common literature, was humiliated and failed by us in a sporty public meeting place! The reason for the failure, we admit the immaturity of art, and never admit that "what actor did you learn"!

Finally, I would like to ask Mr. Ai Luoxianke and all the artists: In such a dark art country in China, no one is willing to act with us "men", so why do we try our best to have "female" dramas? If, for the sake of drama, we have to pretend to be women, then if we pretend to be women and fail artistically, are we just "learning how to pretend to be women"?We also only consider our art to be "more boring than puppets"; but why should we be made "monkeys" like puppets? We men imitate women to "be a monkey", so what about the reverse? Comrades who "be a monkey"!How should we work hard? !

Our human and "monkey" dramatists almost cried! We college students devote themselves to art, but can't get all kinds of help!Even the attitude of world writers towards us seems to have no idea whether college students have personality or not!If someone says that Mr. Airoshchenko's judgment after "seeing" it with his own eyes is not wrong. That would be too ridiculous. What else do you say? However, I am confident that our pity, embarrassment, and misery have made me say a few words that I am ashamed and dare not follow blindly. How lucky are we to be taught by a writer? How lucky is the art world in our dark country to have such a bright torch to guide the way?Of course we would like to express our deep gratitude to Mr. Ai Luoxianke! But this taught us to be sad and regretful: Mr. Ai Luoxianke felt the most intense loneliness in the desert-like China. We failed to comfort him, a blind poet who was wandering like this; , Taught him to "see" even more lonely and helpless! Not only that, but he even called out to us in great pain, but he didn't dare to follow him blindly and wanted to give him a long "Xiaoci"!Fortunately, it did not cause Mr. Ai Luoxianke to be completely sad, and the impression of the beauty and art of Yenching Girls' School was still in his mind! And for the protection of our personality, we will never dare to blindly follow Mr. Ai Luoxianke's words of "learning from actors"!

I would like to thank Mr. Lu Xun again for his kindness in introducing the lessons of Mr. Ai Luoxianke! Seven, One, 1923, Peking University.
