Reminiscences of ten strict teachers and friends teaching others (2) Mr. Huai Li Shutong Twenty-nine years ago, when I was seventeen years old, I first met Mr. Li Shutong, who later became Master Hongyi, in Zhejiang Provincial First Normal School in Hangzhou.I was a prep student and he was our music teacher. When we took his music lessons, there was a special feeling: seriousness. After ringing the preparatory bell, we walked to the music classroom, pushed in the door, and were surprised first: Mr. Li was already sitting on the podium.Students who thought that the teacher was always late and pushed in the door by singing, shouting, laughing, or cursing casually were even more surprised.Their singing, shouting, laughing, and cursing suddenly disappeared with the threshold as the boundary. Then he lowered his head and blushed, and went to sit upright in his seat.Sitting in his seat, he secretly lowered his head to have a look, and saw Mr. Li's tall and thin upper body wearing a neat black mandarin jacket, exposed on the podium, a forehead so wide that he could walk around, and slender hyacinth eyes. , The bridge of the nose is upright, forming a majestic expression. There are often deep dimples at the ends of the flat and wide lips, showing a loving expression. This appearance, if described with the three words "gentle and fierce", is probably about the same.On the desk are roll call books, handouts, his lecture notebooks, and chalk. The piano clothes were untied, the piano cover was opened, the score was placed, and there was a timepiece on the head of the piano, and the shining golden light shone directly into our eyes. The blackboard (the upper and lower pieces can be pushed) has clearly written what should be written in this lesson (both pieces are written, the upper piece covers the lower one, and the upper piece is pushed away when using the lower one).On the podium arranged in this way, Mr. Li sat upright. When the class bell rang (later we learned that he had such a temper that he had to arrive early for music class. Therefore, when the class bell rang, the students had already arrived), he stood up, bowed deeply, and the class began. In class like this, the atmosphere is very serious.

There was a person who read other books instead of singing during music class, and another person spit on the floor during music class, thinking that Mr. Li didn't see it, but in fact he knew it.But he didn't blame him right away. After class, he solemnly said in a very light and serious voice: "So-and-so wait to get out." So this so-and-so classmate had to stand. After the other students had gone out, he said kindly to this XX classmate in a light and serious voice: "Don't read other books in class next time." Or: "Next time, don't spit on the floor." After saying that, he bowed slightly and said, "Go out." Most of the people who came out had flushed faces.Another time, after a music class, the last person to go out unintentionally opened the door, knocking it too hard and making a loud noise. After he had walked dozens of steps, Mr. Li came out of the door and asked him to come back with a friendly face. When he arrived, Mr. Li called him into the classroom again. After entering the classroom, Mr. Li said kindly to him in a very light and serious voice: "Next time you get out of the classroom, close the door gently." He bowed to him, sent him out, and closed the door gently by himself. The most unforgettable thing is a time when I took piano lessons. We are normal students, and everyone has to learn to play the piano. There are fifty or sixty organs and two pianos in the whole school. There are two organs in each room for students to practice; one piano is placed in the singing classroom, and the other is placed in the piano playing classroom.During the piano playing class, a group of more than ten people stood around the piano and watched Mr. Li play.Once during the performance, a classmate farted. There was no sound, but it was very smelly.Piano and Mr. Li's dozens of classmates were all immersed in the atmosphere of Armonia. Most of the students covered their noses or made annoying noises.Mr. Li frowned, and played the piano himself (I think he must be holding his breath). At the end of the play, Armonia's breath was gone, and his brows were just relaxed. After teaching, the get out of class bell rang.Mr. Li stood up and bowed, indicating that the class was over. After the class was over, and the students hadn't gone out yet, Mr. Li solemnly announced: "Everyone wait a moment, there is one more word." Everyone stood in silence again.Mr. Li said kindly again in a very light and serious voice: "From now on, fart, go outside the door, don't put it indoors." Then he bowed again, indicating that we should go out.The students all held back their laughter, and as soon as they came out, everyone ran to a distance to laugh.

Mr. Li taught us music with such an attitude, so we feel more serious in music class than in all other classes. At the same time, I admire the music teacher Mr. Li Shutong more than other teachers. In schools at that time, the so-called "English, Chinese, and arithmetic" was the most important thing, that is, English, Chinese, and arithmetic. In other schools, the teachers of these three subjects are the most authoritative; but in our normal school, the music teacher is the most authoritative, because he is Mr. Li Shutong. Why does Mr. Li Shutong have such authority? Not only for his good knowledge, not only for his good music, but mainly for his serious attitude. The biggest feature of Mr. Li's life is "seriousness".For one thing, if he doesn't do it, he has to do it; if he wants to do it, he must do it thoroughly.

He was born into a wealthy family, and his father was a well-known banker in Tianjin. He was born of the fifth concubine. When his father consulted him, he was seventy-two years old. After he fell to the ground, his father died, and when his family changed, he accompanied his biological mother to move south to Shanghai when he was young. When he was studying at Nanyang Public School in Shanghai and serving his mother, he was a handsome young man.At that time, there was a well-known Shanghai Academy in the Shanghai literary world. Mr. Li was called for essays by the Shanghai Academy, and his name repeatedly ranked first. From then on, he was highly valued by celebrities in Shanghai, and he made friends with each other day by day, and finally became famous in Shanghai at that time as a "talented scholar".So when his mother died, when he went to Japan to study, he composed a song "Witch Hazel", which said: "Let's go wild with your hair loose. In the central plains, the crows sing at dusk, and a few willows. Who will clean up the broken rivers and mountains?" The west wind is still scattered.

It made people lose weight. After the journey, I will take a deep breath and say that the lovesickness is deep in my bones, and I have two red beans.Sorrow is darker than wine.Yang Qing constantly Songbo Liu.I hate every year that the fluff floats in the water, and I look back when I look back.Twenty articles shocked the sea, after all, what is empty talk!Listen to the roar of the blue dragon at the bottom of the box.The west wind can't sleep in the long night, and it's a pity that Du Qunsheng is heartbroken. Is the motherland, bear the disappointment? "Reading this poem, one can imagine that he was full of pride and patriotism. When he became a monk, he sent me all the photos of the past. I saw him in Shanghai in the photos:

A velvet bowl hat with a square of white jade in the middle, a curvy-breasted vest, a floral satin robe, fat braids hanging on the back, ribbons tied to the feet, double-beam thick-soled shoes, the head is held high, and a handsome look is revealed in the eyebrows. He was really the first-class Mr. Pianpian in Shanghai at that time. This is the original expression of his characteristics: everything is serious. He intends to be Mr. Pianpian, so he will be Mr. Pianpian thoroughly. Later, when he went to Japan and saw the culture of the Meiji Restoration, he longed for Western civilization. He immediately gave up the attitude of Mr. Pianpian and became an overseas student instead. He entered the Tokyo School of Fine Arts and at the same time entered the music school. These schools all imitate the West, and all they teach are Western paintings and Western music.Mr. Li learned English very well when he was in Nanyang Public School; when he arrived in Japan, he bought a lot of books on Western literature. When he became a monk, he gave me an incomplete original "The Complete Works of Shakespeare". He said to me: "I have read this book carefully before, and there are many notes on it. Although it is incomplete, it is also a souvenir." In Japan, there was an all-out attack on Western art, and painting, music, literature, and drama were all studied.Later, he founded the Chunliu Drama Club in Japan, gathered comrades studying abroad, and performed famous Western tragedies at that time (by Alexandre Dumas). He himself put on a small waist, dressed as La Traviata, and appeared on stage. This photo was also given to me when he became a monk, and it has been in my collection until it was destroyed by war during the Anti-Japanese War.Now I still remember this picture: curly hair, white blouse, white long skirt dragging the floor, waist so small, hands raised to support the back, head tilted to the right, brows furrowed, eyes slanting, just staring La Traviata's self-harming look.In addition, there are many photos of the play, too many to remember. The Chunliu Drama Club later made a detour to China, and Mr. Li left, and another group of people ran it, which was the original "drama" club in China. It can be imagined from this that when Mr. Li was in Japan, he was an international student through and through.I have seen photos of him at that time: tall hat, stiff collar, stiff sleeves, tuxedo, stickers, pointed leather shoes, plus a long body, a high nose, and glasses without feet clamped on the bridge of the nose, he looked like a Westerner. This is the second time to express his characteristic: everything is serious.Learn the same, like the same.To be an international student, be an international student thoroughly.

After returning to China, he worked as an editor at the Shanghai Pacific News Agency.Soon, he was invited by Nanjing Higher Normal School to teach painting and music.Later, he was hired by the Hangzhou Normal University to teach in two schools at the same time. He lived in Nanjing for half a month and Hangzhou for half a month. Both schools hire teaching assistants, who will take over when he is away.I am a student of Hangzhou Normal University. At this time, Mr. Li has changed from an overseas student to a "teacher".This change has become really thorough: the beautiful western clothes are no longer worn, but gray coarse cloth robes, black cloth mandarin jackets, and cloth-soled shoes are replaced. The gold-rimmed glasses were also replaced with black wire-rimmed glasses. He is a well-trained artist, so he is very particular about appearance.Although the clothes are commoner, they fit well and are often tidy.He wears common clothes, full of infinite features, but also has a simple beauty. As you can imagine, he played the role of La Traviata, and his figure was very slim.Wearing commoner clothes, he is still a handsome man. "Light makeup and thick foam are always suitable", this poem was originally used to describe Xizi, but it is also very applicable to describe our Mr. Li's appearance.People today talk about "artistic life", most of them are curious and innovative, not artistic.Mr. Li's clothes can really be called the art of life. His clothing of an era expresses the thought and life of an era.The thought and life of each age are very different, and the clothes of each age are also very different.Mr. Li, who wears cloth and shoes, is completely different from Mr. Li who was in the western dress era, and Mr. Li who was in the era of curved vest. This is the third expression of his characteristic: earnestness.

When I was in second grade, drawing was taught by Mr. Li.He taught us to sketch from life in charcoal plaster models. The classmate has always been used to sketching and drawing, but at first he couldn't start.Among the more than forty people, none of them could describe them decently.Later he modeled the paintings for us to see. After painting, put the fan painting on the blackboard. Most of the students looked at the blackboard and climbed.Only me and a few classmates sketched from plaster models according to his method. From then on I became interested in sketching. At this point, I suddenly realized: Those fans were originally sketched by others after seeing the real thing. We should also start directly from the sketching of real objects, why bother to copy others and draw gourds in the same way?So my painting improved.Since then, Mr. Li has more chances to get close to me.Because I often ask him to teach painting and Japanese, I know more about Mr. Li's life in detail. He used to read books on Xingli, but later he suddenly believed in Taoism, and he often kept Daozang on his desk.At that time, I was still a young man with a hairy head, and I couldn't talk about religion.Except for painting, Mr. Li didn't talk to me.But I found that his life is getting more and more restrained day by day, as if he is about to leave for a distant place. He often gives me things he doesn't use. When his friends Japanese painters Ryutoku Ono, Shinzo Kawai, and Katsumi Miyake came to West Lake to sketch, he took me to treat them to a meal, and then handed over these Japanese to me and asked me to guide them (I was already Able to speak Japanese for common entertainment). He himself closed the door to study Taoism. One day, he decided to go to Dacishan to fast. I had class work and couldn't accompany me, so Wenyu, the school worker, accompanied me.A few days later, I went to see him.I saw him lying on the bed, his face was thin, but he was in good spirits, and he spoke to me as usual. He fasted for 17 days. He was supported by Wen Yu and took a picture. On the top of the film, Wen Yu inscribed: "The portrait of Mr. Li Xiweng after fasting, inscribed by his servant Wen Yu." This photo was later made into a postcard and distributed to friends. .The bottom of the image is printed in typeface: "A certain year, month and day, enter Daci Mountain and fast for 17 days, transform your body and mind, be happy and healthy--Xinxin Daoist Ji." At this time, Mr. Li has changed from "teacher" to "" Taoist".

Fasting for 17 days to learn Taoism is also a sign of his "seriousness" in everything. But his learning time was very short. After fasting, he soon learned Buddhism. He himself told me that his study of Buddhism was instructed by Mr. Ma Yifu.A few days before he became a monk, he and I went to Yuquan, West Lake to see Mr. Cheng Zhonghe. This Mr. Cheng used to be a soldier, but now he has retired and lives in Yuquan. He is planning to become a monk.Mr. Li had a long talk with him.Not long after that, I accompanied Ohno Ryutoku to Yuquan to stay overnight, and I saw a monk sitting there. It was Mr. Cheng.I want to call him "Mr. Cheng", but I don't think it fits.

I wanted to call him a mage, but I didn't know his dharma name (later I found out it was Hongsan). For a while, it was very organized.I went back and told Mr. Li, and Mr. Li told me that he would soon become a monk and become Hongsan's teacher.I was stunned and didn't know what was right. After a few days, he really resigned and was going to become a monk. The night before he became a monk, he asked me, my classmates Ye Tianrui and Li Zengyong, to go to his room and gave us all the things in the room. The next day, the three of us sent him to Hupao. We got his "inheritance" when we came back, and when we went to visit him again, he was already bald and wearing a monk's robe, just like a sober mage.I have since changed my words and called him "Mage".The Master's Seng La was twenty-four years old.In the past twenty-four years, I have been ups and downs, but he has been consistent to the end, and his practice has become deeper and deeper. At the beginning, we practiced Pure Land Buddhism, and later we practiced Law School. The Law Sect pays attention to precepts, every action is disciplined, and it is extremely serious. This is the most difficult sect of Buddhism. For hundreds of years, the tradition was cut off, and it was not revived until Master Hongyi, so Buddhism called him "the eleventh generation patriarch of Chongxing Nanshan Lvzong".He takes life very seriously. To give an example: Once I sent a roll of rice paper and asked Master Hongyi to write the name of the Buddha. There was more rice paper, so he wrote to me and asked me, what should I do with the extra rice paper?

Another time, I sent a return stamp, a few cents more.He sent me back the extra cents. In the future, when I send paper or stamps, I will declare in advance: I will send the excess to the Master.Once he came to my house.I asked him to sit in the rattan chair. He shook the rattan chair slightly, and then sat down slowly. At first I was afraid to ask.Later, seeing that he was like this every time, I asked him.The mage replied, "In this chair, between the two vines, there may be insects. If you sit down suddenly, you will crush them to death, so shake it first, and sit down slowly so that they can escape." Readers may laugh when they hear this. But that's what it means to be extremely serious. As mentioned above, Master Hongyi changed from Prince Pianpian to an overseas student, then to a teacher, third to a Taoist, and fourth to a monk.Every kind of person is very decent. It's like an all-round actor: Tsing Yi looks like a Tsing Yi, an old student looks like an old student, and a big face looks like a big face... It's all because of "seriousness". Master Hongyi has now passed away in Quanzhou, Fujian. When the bad news reached Zunyi, Guizhou, I was packing up and moving to Chongqing. After I arrived in Chongqing, I made a vow to paint 100 frames of the master, and distributed them to believers and charities everywhere, and carved stones as offerings. Now the portrait has come true. My relationship with Mr. Li as a teacher and student in the world has ended, but his legacy—seriousness—will always be engraved in my heart. Created in Wutongqiao Guest Apartment, Sichuan Mourning Mr. Xia Beggar I moved to the city from the outskirts of Chongqing and waited for a boat to return to Shanghai.I moved here just now, and received the news of Master Xia Gaizun's death.I remember three years ago, when I moved from Zunyi to Chongqing, I received a telegram from Master Hongyi when I was leaving. The last news of my two beloved teachers came while I was traveling. This accidental thing seems very strange to me.Because these two teachers are equally respectable and lovely, and they gave me the same precious teachings in the past; now that the bad news comes, it is like giving me the same final instructions. This makes me feel extra condolences and vigilance. I have long been convinced that Mr. Xia is going to die, just as I am sure that everyone is going to die.But it was not expected to be so fast.Eight years of violating teaching, we are about to see each other again, and finally we must not see each other again! It's so naive, what can I call it! I still recall that in the autumn of the twenty-sixth year, when the Marco Polo Bridge Incident occurred, I returned to Hangzhou from Nanjing, got off the bus in Shanghai on the way, and went to see Mr. Xia on Wuzhou Road. The gentleman looked sad, said a word, and sighed.I bid farewell in a hurry because I had to take the night train back to Hangzhou.I said, "Goodbye, Mr. Xia." Mr. Xia replied angrily as if scolding me: "I don't know if we can see you again!" I smiled back at him.Because Mr. Xia is always worried, and I always laugh at how worried he is. Unexpectedly, this time is the last time we will see each other. Sure enough, this farewell is "can't see you again"! Later, I helped the old and the young, and ran away in a hurry, traveling around Changsha, Guilin, Yishan, Zunyi, and Chongqing.Mr. Xia has always lived in Shanghai. In the early years, we often corresponded.Ever since Mr. Xia was captured and imprisoned by the enemy, I dare not write to him lest I make him suffer. As soon as the victory arrived, I wrote him a long letter.I am very happy to see that his handwriting is still strong and straight in reply.Words are a symbol of spirit, which fully proves that Mr. Xia's spirit is still there. At that time, I thought we would see each other again soon, but I didn’t know that transportation and life became more and more difficult, which prevented me from returning early; finally, eight and a half months after the victory, I received his bad news in this mountain city guest house, which can also be said to be "holding hatred all day long." "Things! The death of Mr. Xia made "the literary world lose a veteran" and "the youth lost a mentor". Many people must have said these words, so I don't need to say them again. Now I only express my condolences on the relationship between our teacher and brother. Mr. Xia and Mr. Li Shuguo (Master Hongyi) have the same talent and the same mind. But on the surface, one is a monk and the other is a layman. I still recall that when I was a student more than 30 years ago, Mr. Li taught us painting and music, and Mr. Xia taught us Chinese.I find all three disciplines equally serious and interesting. It is fascinating because both of them have the same deep understanding of the true meaning of literature and art.Mr. Xia often said: "Mr. Li teaches painting and music, and students pay more attention to painting and music than Chinese and mathematics. This is because he has a background of personality. Because he teaches painting and music, and what he understands is not only It is pictures and music; his poems are better than those of Mr. Guowen, his calligraphy is better than that of Mr. Xizi, and his English is better than that of Mr. English... This is like a Buddha statue, which has spiritual light, so it can be admired . " This can also be said to be "the master speaks for himself".Mr. Xia first served as dormitory supervisor, and later taught Chinese. But he is also knowledgeable and versatile. Except for music, he understands poetry, painting (appreciation), gold and stone, calligraphy, Neo-Confucianism, Buddhist scriptures, as well as foreign languages and sciences. So I can make friends with Mr. Li, so I can win the heart and soul of the students. When he was the dormitory supervisor, the students privately nicknamed him Summer Papaya. But this is not malicious, but kind.Because he treats students as if they were children, he is straightforward and enlightens, without perfunctory, deceptive, oppressive and other means. At first, the students felt that the advice was harsh, and seeing his big and round head, they gave him this nickname. But later everyone knew that Mr. Xia really loved us, so this nickname became a pet name and has been used ever since.Whenever a student has a petition, everyone says: "Talk to the summer papaya, and it will be successful." When he hears the petition, he may scold you secretly; but if your petition is reasonable, he will regard it as his own. Petition, and managed for you. When he taught Chinese, it was just before the May Fourth Movement. After we were used to writing articles such as "The Taiwang left his father's book", "The master of the yellow flower sent a letter to the gutless son", he suddenly asked us to do a "self-report".He also said: "You are not allowed to talk empty words, but write honestly." There was a classmate who wrote that his father died in a foreign country, and he "creeped at the funeral at starry night".Mr. Xia asked him with a wry smile, "Did you really crawl on the ground that night?" It caused everyone to laugh, and the student's face was flushed.Another classmate complained, praised the hermit, and said that "music music and books can relieve worries, soothe lonely pine and linger".Mr. Xia asked him sharply, "Why did you come to take the normal school exam?" The man was left speechless.Such a teaching method was initially opposed by stubborn young people. They think that if the article does not need to be classical, if it does not complain, it will not be elegant. Some people even said: "He doesn't know how to write ancient prose (in fact, he does a very good job), so students are not allowed to do it." But such people are, after all, a minority. Most of the students were amazed and convinced by Mr. Xia's unprecedented and bold revolutionary proposition, as if waking up from a long dream, suddenly realizing that what is right is what happened yesterday. This was the beginning of the May Fourth Movement. As a teacher, Mr. Li set an example and did not speak much, so that the students were sincerely moved and naturally convinced. For example, in class, he must come to the classroom first, and write everything that should be written on the blackboard first (cover it with another blackboard, and push it away when needed). Then sit on the podium and wait for the students to arrive. For example, when a student makes a mistake when returning the piano, he raises his eyes to look at you, but says, "Return it next time." Sometimes he doesn't say anything, and the student takes a look at him, and asks himself to return it next time.He spoke very little, and always had a pleasant face when he spoke. But the students were very afraid of him and loved him.Mr. Xia, on the other hand, has no reservations and speaks directly. The students smiled and got close to him. When he happened to pass by the school yard and saw a young student playing with a dog, he would also worry: "Why are you making trouble with the dog!" On holidays, when the students went out, Mr. Xia saw it and shouted: "Come back early, don't drink! "The student said with a smile: "Don't eat, don't eat!" Walk quickly.Even when he was far away, Mr. Xia still shouted: "Use less copper tin!" On the one hand, the students laughed at him, but on the other hand, they really appreciated him and loved him. Mr. Xia and Mr. Li have completely different attitudes towards students. The respect and love that students have for them is exactly the same. These two mentors are like parents.Mr. Li's is "father's education", and Mr. Xia's is "mother's education".The "Education of Love" translated by Mr. Xia later became popular in China and deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and was even used as a Chinese textbook. This is no accident. After I graduated from normal school, I went to Japan. After returning from Japan, I worked with Mr. Xia as a teacher and editor. After my mother's death, I resigned and lived at home until I fled. But during this period, he still had many relationships with bookstores, and often went to Shanghai to meet Mr. Xia.Therefore, I left Mr. Xia's crimson tent until the farewell a few days before the Anti-Japanese War. During the past twenty years, I often got close to Mr. Xia and received his teachings constantly. At that time, Mr. Li had already become a monk, with straw shoes and a broken bowl, traveling around, and Mr. Xia seemed to be from two worlds. But in my opinion, they are still the two previous mentors, but the scope of their guidance has expanded from the school to the world. Mr. Li did not "go to nowhere and escape into Buddhism", but became a monk for the fundamental problems of life.He is a real monk, he feels the pain of sentient beings and "does manly things".Although Mr. Xia did not become a monk, he fully understood Mr. Li's mind; he praised Mr. Li for his manly deeds.Because of all kinds of obstacles in the world, Mr. Xia didn't have the courage to do a manly thing. The sorrow and depression of Mr. Xia's life came from this. Anyone who knows Mr. Xia well knows that Mr. Xia is a very caring person. He would frown and sigh when he saw all the unpleasant, uneasy, untrue, unkind, and unbeautiful states in the world. He is not only worried about his own family, but also his friends, school, store, country and the world. Some of my friends got sick, and Mr. Xia frowned and worried about him; someone lost his job, and Mr. Xia frowned and worried for him; It's gone... Mr. Xia will frown and worry about them. The school's problems and the company's problems are treated as routine by others, but Mr. Xia treats them as his own problems and is really worried.State affairs, world affairs, what others read as historical novels, Mr. Xia is a matter of immediate concern, and he is genuinely worried, frowning, and sighing. Therefore, when I was working with him, I should be more optimistic about everything to Mr. Xia, and sometimes I would hide it from him so as not to make him worry.Like Mr. Li, he feels the pain of all sentient beings. But he can't do the same manly things as Mr. Li; he can only die in sorrow. In the big school of "human world", what these two mentors are still doing is "father's education" and "mother's education". Mr. Xia is worried about his friend's wife giving birth, children falling down and so on.Well, the life in Shanghai, which has been in dire straits for eight years, has added hundreds of thousands of hu to Mr. Xia's worries!Sorrow can hurt people, Mr. Xia's death was caused by the society that provides sad materials, and the Japanese invaders! In the past, whenever I wrote an article, I always thought after I finished writing: "I don't know what Mr. Xia thinks of this article." Because my writing was learned under the guidance and encouragement of Mr. Xia.After finishing writing this article today, I instinctively thought: "I don't know what Mr. Xia thinks of this article." Two lines of hot tears fell heavily on the manuscript paper.Lakeside night drink The night before yesterday, four friends who came to the West Lake for a spring outing drank in my lakeside hut.The wine is late and people are scattered, the bright moon is in the sky, the lake is like a mirror, and the shadows of flowers are full of embankments.I saw off the guests, reluctant to part with the spring moon on the lake, and went for a walk by the lake. There is a stone bench under the shade of willows, waiting for me to sit on it.I just sat down, thinking of the spring moon song I sang in school when I was young: "There is a bright moon on a spring night, and they all make joyful faces. Whenever the lights are lit, the clusters of green lights shine. The people and the moon celebrate each other, and the flowers and the moon shine together. There is wine. Don't drink, raise your glass and offer it to the hall." I think the lyrics are gentle and honest, very cute!I also think that today's primary school students sing crude and vulgar songs. It is a pity that they are not blessed to sing such good songs!Recalling the last two lines of the song, I feel that I am dead, that although I have good wine, I have nowhere to offer it, and it is very sad!Three "very" forced me to stand up and walk home slowly.Otherwise, I'm afraid that if I drop my old tears on the embankment of the lake, I will be laughed at by Yuepo Hualing. When I got home, my family said that after I had seen off the guests, there was a visitor from Shanghai. His name was CT①, and he lived in the Geling Hotel. His family told him that I was watching the moon by the lake, so he went to the lake to worship me.This was half an hour ago, and the clock is now pointing to half-past ten.I thought, since CT couldn't find me, he must have gone back to the hotel to rest.I didn't go to him that night, I just went to sleep. The next morning, I went to the Geling Hotel to look for him. He had already gone out, and the tea servant was cleaning his room.I left a business card and asked him to come to my house for a drink at noon or evening. At noon, he did not come.In the evening, he didn't come again. It is expected that he, a native of Shanghai, will rarely come to Hangzhou. Once he sees the West Lake, he spends the whole day looking for flowers and willows. He doesn't go back to the hotel, and he doesn't see the business card I left in the hotel. ①CT is Xidi, the pseudonym of Zheng Zhenduo. At eight o'clock in the evening, while I was drunk, CT came. After ten years of absence, after many catastrophes, he has become fatter and younger. He said I was still the same, but with grayer hair. "After ten years of rebellion, we meet again when we grow up. Asking the surname, we are surprised to see each other for the first time, and remember the old face by name." Although this poem is good, we don't have to sing it. After a few pleasantries, I asked him if he had dinner. He said that he ate dinner by the lake—and drank a catty of wine—and didn’t go back to the hotel, but came to see me.The business card I left in his hotel, he never saw it.The catty of wine in my belly immediately melted away in front of this old friend who drank with me in Shanghai when I was young, and I said: "Let's drink again!" He said: "Okay, don't drink." What kind of vegetables." There was a little rain outside the window, the moonlight was hazy, and the West Lake was not as bright as it was last night, but it had a gentle smile, gentle and serene posture.Last night was a good time to go to the lakeside to walk the moon, and tonight is a good time to drink with old friends in front of the lamp. "Ye Yu Jian Chun Lei", what a touching poem! It's a pity that I don't have a home, and I haven't grown leeks.Even if I have leeks in the garden, I don't want to go to Jianlai to drink with CT tonight.Because the actual leeks are far less delicious than the leeks in the poem. How foolish it is to practice according to the verses! The maid came out with a jug of wine and four bowls, sauced chicken, sauced meat, preserved eggs and peanuts, and put them on the square table next to the radio.CT and I sat across from each other and drank. On the wall above the radio was pasted a poem by mathematician Su Buqing written by me: "Hastily cups and plates share a joy, Mo Yin's words are bitter. The spring breeze has greened the grass in front of the door, and it is resistant to the remaining cold." With this poem, the taste of wine is particularly good.I think the best food and drink in the world is poetry. And the verses of mathematicians have a particularly pure taste.Because I also feel that there can be experts in other things, but poetry cannot have experts.Because to write poetry is to be human. When people do well, so do poems. If it is said that there are experts in poetry, and non-experts cannot write poetry, it is like saying that there are experts in life, and non-experts cannot be human. Isn't it ridiculous? Therefore, I don't like to read the poems of "experts".Because they often like to use classics, follow traditions, insist on words, show off mysteries;Poems written by non-experts are straightforward, clear, innocent and natural, pure and simple, and very cute. There are Su Buqing's poems in front of the bottle, and the sauced chicken, sauced meat, preserved eggs and peanuts on the table are tasteless, and it is not a pity to throw them away! I drank with CT, and there was another delicious food and drink, that is, Huajiu. After ten years of absence, I have experienced catastrophe. He was trapped on an isolated island, and I ran among thousands of mountains.Surprising and joyful, eloquent words, talk more and more. When talking about drinking, his voice changed into howls, which woke up the people sleeping in the next room. When he was an editor at Baoshan Road Commercial Press more than 20 years ago and I was teaching at Jiangwan Lida Academy, he wanted to see my children Abao, Ruanruan and Zhanzhan -- "Zikai He had seen all three of the protagonists in Comics when he was young.Zhanzhan is now called Fenghuazhan, and he is at Peking University Research Institute, and I can’t reach him; Abao and Ruanruan are now called Fengchenbao and Fengningxin, who have graduated from university and are teaching in middle schools, and they are talking with their friends in the wing room. My brothers and sisters practice Pingju, and I call them to "see". CT compared his hands on the ground next to the table and said, "When I saw you in Jiangwan, you were only this tall." They laughed, and we laughed too.The taste of this kind of laughter is half sweet and half bitter, half happy and half sad.The so-called "taste of life" can be tasted here. CT called A Bao "Miss" and Ruan Ruan "Miss Three".I said: "Peanuts Are Not Satisfied", "Looking at the New Officials, Ruan Ruan Bride, Sister Bao as a Matchmaker", "A Bao with Two Legs, Stool with Four Legs" and other paintings are all from you. The wall was torn down, and a zinc plate was cast and published in the "Literature Weekly". How polite are you, an old man, to their children? Just call A Bao Ruan Ruan." Everyone laughed. The taste of life is tasted strongly here again. But there was nothing to say, we drank two glasses in silence.I have seen CT's booze, not less than twenty years ago.I recalled an old incident more than twenty years ago.One day, I was walking in Risheng Building and met CT. He took my hand and said, "Zikai, let's eat western food." I said, "Okay." He walked west with me to the upstairs of Jinlong Western Restaurant opposite Xinshijie, and ordered Ordered two company dishes, plus a bottle of brandy. After eating, servant Ou brought the bill. CT said to me: "Do you have any money?" I said "Yes"!He took out a five-yuan bill and paid the bill.So we went downstairs together and went home separately—he went back to Zhabei, and I went back to Jiangwan. One day later, CT came to Jiangwan to see me, took out a ten-yuan bill, and said, "I asked you to pay the bill the day before yesterday, and I will pay you back today." I was amazed and laughed, and said: "Forget it, why pay me back? Why pay me double?" I decided to stuff the ten-dollar bill into his suit pocket, and he refused.Lida's colleague Liu Xunyu, who was sitting next to him, came over to grab the banknote and said, "You're welcome, take it to a small shop in Xinjiangwan to eat at a bar!" Everyone agreed. So he called seven or eight people, including Mr. Xia Gaizun, Kuang Husheng, and Fang Guangtao, to a small hotel in Xinjiangwan to have a drink.By the time they finished eating the ten-yuan bill, everyone was drunk, and the scene was still in their eyes. Now both Mr. Xia and Kuang Husheng have passed away, Liu Xunyu is far away in Guiyang, and Fang Guangtao does not know where.Only CT is still here to drink with me.Isn't this a rare thing in the world! We made two big mistakes again. After drinking in the middle of the night, and the spring rains, I stayed with CT at my house, and he must go back to the hotel.I gave him an umbrella and watched his tall body gradually disappear in the drizzle under the shade of willows by the lake.I thought: "He shouldn't return two umbrellas to me tomorrow!" At the lakeside cabin on the night of March 28, 1948 Mr. Li Shutong's Viewpoint on Literature and Art Mr. Li Shutong, Master Hongyi who later became a monk in Hupao Temple in Hangzhou, is the pioneer of modern Chinese literature and art.As early as fifty years ago, he first studied in Japan and introduced modern drama, oil painting and piano music to China. There are dramas, oil paintings and piano music in China, which started with Mr. Li.He is rich in literary and artistic talents. In addition to the above three arts, he is also good at calligraphy, gold and stone (now there is "Shutong Yinzang" in the stone wall of Xiling Yinshe in West Lake), and he is good at writing poetry. The field of literature and art has been almost covered by him. Most people don't pay much attention to his literature and art because he later became a monk. This year marks the 15th anniversary of Mr. Li's death, and also the 50th anniversary of Chinese drama. I admire his view of literature and art, and briefly talk about it as follows: After Mr. Li became a monk, all other literature and art were eliminated, only calligraphy and gold and stone could not be forgotten. He often uses exquisite brushwork to write scriptures and Buddha names, and stamp them with exquisite seals.A few seals were engraved by himself, and many seals were engraved by Xu Fei (Hui Lu), an epigrapher he praised. In his letter to Huilu, he said: People have been shaving and dyeing for more than 20 years, and they are no longer at a loss for literature and art.The Shidian also says: "Scholars first know the tools and then literature and art", what's more, it's the couple who leave home and leave the vulgar; "The literature and art should be passed on from person to person, not from people to pass on literature and art", that is the meaning.Gu Mu is gratified to accept the publication of the three seals, and I really appreciate it... (see page 205 of "The Chronicle of Master Hongyi" edited by Lin Ziqing) This is exactly Mr. Li's self-statement of his outlook on literature and art, "knowledge first and then literature and art", "literature and art should be passed on from person to person, not from person to person", this is exactly Mr. Li's view of literature and art. Forty years ago, I was a student of Mr. Li when he was teaching at Hangzhou Normal University. I received his literary education for five years. Now I want to recall the past.Although Mr. Li is a person who plays plays, paints oil paintings, plays the piano, composes, recites poems, fills in lyrics, writes letters, and engraves seals, he often has a book on his desk in the dormitory of Hangzhou Normal School (now Gongyuan Hangzhou No. 1 Middle School). "Renpu" (written by Liu Zongzhou of the Ming Dynasty, which lists hundreds of good words and deeds of many sages in ancient times), on the cover of this book, Mr. Li personally wrote the four words "practice" with each word. A red circle, every time I go to his room, I always see this book in the corner of the desk.At that time, I was young and ignorant, and I wondered why Mr. Li was specialized in Western art. Why did he look at these old cats and old mice and put them on the right side of the seat? Later, Mr. Li became our grade teacher and once asked us to come He went to talk in his room, and he opened the book "Pedigree of Man" to point out a section for us to read. Looking forward to his nobleness, Pei Xingjian saw it and said: "The scholar who goes far should first know the tools and then the literature and art."Although Bo and others have articles, but they are impetuous and shallow, how can they enjoy the status of nobles... (See "Human Genealogy" Volume 5, this section is an excerpt from "Tang Shu Biography of Pei Xingjian") With a blushing face and a mouthful (Mr. Li is not good at speaking), he explained to us the meaning of "knowledge first, then literature and art", and explained that the "nobility" and "enjoyment" here should not be interpreted mechanically Officials should explain the meaning of noble morality and great personality. "Knowledge first and then literature and art", translated into modern dialect, roughly means "personality cultivation is the first priority, and literature and art learning is the second." More specifically: "To be a good writer and artist, you must first be a good person." It can be seen that Mr. Li On weekdays, he devotes himself to acting, painting, music, literature and other literary and artistic accomplishments, and at the same time devotes himself to the cultivation of "instrumental knowledge".He believes that if a writer and artist does not have "tool knowledge", no matter how proficient the technique is, it is insignificant, so he often warns people that "literature and art should be passed on from person to person, not from person to person". At that time, I was keen on oil painting and piano skills. After listening to his words today, it was like a new window was opened in my heart. It was really better than ten years of reading. From then on, I respected Mr. Li even more.Later, Mr. Li gave me this volume of "Human Genealogy" together with other books on the eve of becoming a monk.I kept it in Yuanyuan Hall until it was destroyed by artillery fire during the Anti-Japanese War.I took refuge in Sichuan, and I saw a copy of "Human Genealogy" at an old stall in Chengdu, and I bought it. It is still on my bookshelf, but there is no red circled "Practice" on it. Because Mr. Li has such a view on literature and art, he is full of patriotism and has always cared about the motherland. When Mr. Sun Yat-sen succeeded in the Revolution of 1911, Mr. Li (who was already teaching at Hangzhou Normal University at that time) wrote an impassioned song "Man Jianghong" to celebrate: How much hatred!Crack the guts of a mouse with both hands, and cast a brain of civil rights from an inch of gold.Even if this life is worthy of being a man, he has a good head.Jing Ke's Tomb, Xianyang Road.Nie Zheng died, his body was violent. As far as the river goes, the remaining feelings are still around. The soul turned into a Jingwei bird, and the blood splashed into a red heart grass.Look at a load of good rivers and mountains from now on, made by heroes. (See page 39 of Master Hongyi Chronicle) Mr. Li so enthusiastically celebrated the recovery of Heshan, how could he be willing to abandon this "a load of good Heshan" and escape into Buddhism?I think, this also seems to be that Qu Yuan worried about the country's sinking because of the innocence of the king of Chu!Suppose Mr. Li met Qu Yuan at the "Lingshan Victory Meeting", I think he would look at each other with flowers and smile. Mr. Li Shutong's Patriotism "Wen Wei Po" on March 7 carried an article "Let me also talk about Mr. Li Shutong" by Mr. Huang Yanpei. After I read it, I also wanted to "talk about it too". This year is the 15th anniversary of the death of Master Hongyi (Mr. Li Shutong), so I will write this short article to commemorate it. In this article, Mr. Huang Yanpei pointed out Mr. Li Shutong's patriotic thoughts in his youth, and attached a map of "Motherland Song" written by Mr. Li Shutong himself. I sang this song again, and I felt like I went back in time, and my mood returned to my boyhood.I was a student of Mr. Li when he was teaching at Hangzhou Normal School, but before I entered Hangzhou Normal School, I had already sung this "Motherland Song" in elementary school. When I was a teenager, it was the period when foreign invasion in China was on the rise.As Mr. Huang said in his article: In 1894, the Sino-Japanese War was defeated by Japan; Beijing, in 1901, signed an agreement to pay reparations. --My teenage years are after these national humiliations. At that time, there were campaigns such as "boycott American products", "boycott Japanese products", and "persuade the use of domestic products".When I sang this "Motherland Song" in elementary school, it was the period of "persuading the use of domestic products".When I sang "Thousands of years, the same vein extends, civilization is not on the shoulders; tens of thousands of miles, fertile land, exclusive natural benefits", I and my classmates shouldered the flag and lined up on the street to promote "persuading the use of domestic products" The scene at that time is still in my eyes.We sang songs as we lined up for the parade, and Mr. Li Shutong's "Motherland Song" was one of them. But at the time I didn't know who the author of the song was. Later, I graduated from elementary school and was admitted to Hangzhou Normal University. I just met Mr. Li Shutong, the author of "Motherland Song".The patriotic movement, persuading the use of domestic products for propaganda, is still prevalent in Hangzhou Normal University. Our Dean of Education, Mr. Wang Gensan, is the most vocal person. He often gives us impassioned lectures, advising everyone to use domestic products and restore their rights. Our music and drawing teacher, Mr. Li Shutong, is a thorough practitioner. He took off his foreign clothes and put on civilian clothes: a gray cloud cloth (the cloth worn by monks) robe and a black mandarin jacket. However, because he is an artist, his clothes are well-fitted and the colors are very harmonious, so even though he is dressed in plain clothes, he still looks graceful.Later I learned that he didn't even use the elastic belt, because the elastic belt was a foreign product at that time.Once after he became a monk, I gave him some coarse cloth for monk clothes, because I saw him tie his socks with hemp rope, and I bought some elastic belts for him. After accepting the rough cloth, he returned the wide belt to me and said, "This is a foreign product." I said, "This is a domestic product, and we can make it ourselves." He accepted it.After he became a monk, he wrote to me again from Wenzhou (or southern Fujian), asking me to buy some British-made vermilion for him. The letter specifically stated: Although this is a foreign product, it is a religious culture, so you might as well use it.Because the British watercolor paint was the best in the world at that time, and it would never fade.He had to make an exception to use foreign products just to write scriptures and Buddha names.Regarding persuading the use of domestic products, Mr. Wang Gensan showed his own experience and preached everywhere; Mr. Li Shutong was silent and practiced. At that time, the patriotic atmosphere in our Hangzhou Normal School was very strong, just because of these two gentlemen.Mr. Wang Gensan is now alive and well in Shanghai, so he must be able to reflect on the situation at that time. At the age of thirty-nine, Mr. Li Shutong—this was the period when the European War broke out, Japan proposed Twenty-One, Yuan Shikai proclaimed himself emperor, the Guangdong-Guangxi War, the Hunan-Hubei War, the Fengzhi War, and the period when the country was in a mess—resigned from his teaching post and fled to the country. Entering Buddhism, you become Master Hongyi. On the eve of his ordination, Master Hongyi gave me a scroll of poems written by himself, including a song called "Golden Halibut", titled "Bring it to Japan, leave the motherland, and present it to my classmates and sons".The full text is as follows: Who will clean up the rivers and mountains? The west wind is still scattered. It made people lose weight. After the journey, I will take a deep breath and say that the lovesickness is deep in my bones, and I have two red beans.Sorrow is darker than wine. Yang Qing constantly Songbo Liu.I hate every year that the fluff floats in the water, and I look back when I look back.Twenty articles shocked the sea, after all, what is empty talk!Listen to the roar of the blue dragon at the bottom of the box.The west wind can't sleep in the long night, it's a pity to save the lives of the people! It is the motherland, bear the disappointment! I still remember that when he unfolded the scroll for me to read, he pointed to this poem in particular and said to me with a smile: "When I wrote this poem, I was exactly your age." At that time I was young and ignorant, indifferent indifferent.Thinking back now, this implies that Mr. Li Shutong, who was forced by the harsh environment to escape into Buddhism, had a spark of patriotic enthusiasm never extinguished in his cold heart! In terms of literature and art, Mr. Li Shutong was the first person in China to advocate drama, the first person to study oil painting, and the first person to study Western music.Last year, when our country commemorated the Japanese Venerable Sesshu, I often remembered: In terms of literature and art, our country’s Venerable Hongyi is very similar to the Japanese Venerable Sesshu.Master Xueshu studied in China and imported Chinese ink painting techniques of the Song and Yuan Dynasties into Japan; Master Hongyi studied in Japan and imported modern dramas, oil paintings and piano music into China.Master Hongyi's contribution to the Chinese literary and artistic circles is no less than that of Master Sesshu to the Japanese literary and artistic circles!Master Xueshu has many memorial buildings in Japan.I hope that China also has a commemorative construction of Master Hongyi.Master Hongyi's works and memorials are now scattered in the private homes of many of his friends. People often write to me asking if there is a memorial hall to hand over. Mr. Du Shenfu from Hangzhou is one of them. This year marks the 15th anniversary of Master Hongyi's death and the 50th anniversary of the play he initiated.I hope that in Hangzhou, where Master Hongyi lived the longest and became a monk on the spot, there will be a memorial hall that can permanently preserve documents about him and commemorate this patriotic artistic monk forever.
