不一会儿，敌人的坦克和装甲车越过莲花池出现在公路上。它们像一群凶猛的野兽，不停地吼叫着，边前进边射击，后面跟着密集的步兵。只见第一辆坦克已爬到公路的拐弯处，我火箭筒嗖地冒出二股火光，坦克的履带像条蜈蚣，哗的一声倒到公路上，不能动弹了。敌人并没有就此停止，第二辆坦克把第一辆推到路边，继续冲过来，后面紧跟着步兵。敌人的步兵进入了我方的火力网，3营的各种武器一齐开火。敌人第二线的步兵被打乱了，坦克却依然掩护着第一线步兵向前冲。眼看第二辆坦克快接近我军的阵地，教导员马扶增急忙喊道：“陈风祥，打。”话音刚落，一排炮弹在指挥所和火箭筒阵地上爆炸了。陈风祥的下半截身子和火箭筒被倒塌的院墙压住，他的脸上被烧了好几个大水泡，几处破了皮的地方，露出了鲜红的嫩肉。陈风祥忍着疼痛，伸手拿过断了腿的火箭筒，装上炮弹伸出墙外，瞄向第二辆坦克。敌人的坦克继续疯狂地射击着、吼叫着，陈风祥全身不停地痉挛着，头上布满了汗珠，但火箭筒却紧跟着坦克移动，只见他狠狠地扣了一下扳机，一溜火线直射向坦克。随着一声闷雷似的爆炸声，坦克立刻燃起熊熊火光。同时，陈风祥也昏迷了过去。 这时候，3营右面古庙、核桃园一带的兄弟部队，已和敌人展开了白刃格斗。3营正面敌人的10多辆坦克和装甲车，掩护着一大群步兵，气势汹汹地冲来，情况非常危急。陈风祥人事不省，正当马扶增焦急万分之时，9连的朝鲜族战士李润太和朴宪吉突然跑到他的面前，说：“教导员，让我们去炸毁它！” 李润太满脸火红，气喘吁吁，手里提着几个捆在一起的手榴弹。他俩来得太及时了，马扶增急忙对他们说，你们隐蔽在小桥边，不让它过桥。马扶增的话刚说完，他俩便冒着弹雨，不顾一切地向桥边冲去。 第一辆坦克刚爬上桥头，突然火光一闪，便被烟雾吞噬了。可是，烟雾消散后坦克仍在前进。马扶增用望远镜搜寻着坦克周围，忽然看到两个战土爬到坦克上，一个正在掀坦克顶盖，右肩上露出一朵雪白的棉花；另一个高举着手榴弹。只见他俩同时手一张从坦克上跌落下来。敌人的坦克越发疯狂了。它们一面机枪、火炮齐射，一面继续往前冲。眼看第二辆坦克快要过桥了。正在这时，马扶增看见一个战士紧跟在第一辆坦克后面，吃力地爬着，从肩膀上露出的棉花，马扶增认出了这是李润太。敌人的子弹不断地打在他身前身后，他仍拼命地跟着坦克爬。忽然，第一辆坦克冒出一股大火，接着传来一声震天动地的爆炸声。被炸毁的坦克像一个火球横躺在桥头，道路被阻塞了，其他坦克和装甲车都停在桥头喘着粗气。 敌人的坦克虽然被阻，但步兵在坦克炮火的掩护下，仍继续向3营扑来。就在这个时候，1连奉团长命令前来支援。马扶增立刻命令1连迅速占领右侧那条河沟，集中火力把敌人拦腰切断，不许敌人前进和后退。不一会儿，河沟里突然响起了密集的枪声，正向3营冲击的敌人被拦腰切成了两段。紧接着，我军的大炮也怒吼了，数不清的炮弹在敌群中爆炸。敌人全线溃退。战士们陆陆续续押着俘虏，扛着缴获的武器，返回阵地。李润太和朴宪吉互相搀扶着，一瘸一拐地向指挥所走来，他俩的腿、脚都负了伤。陈风祥也艰难地坐起来，一字一顿地说：“他们如果还想较量较量，我剩下的8发火箭筒弹，最少也要消灭他8辆。” 1948年12月11日，我东北野战军第3纵队第7师奉命秘密开进至河北省香河地区，配合兄弟部队切断了北平与天津之敌的联系，顺利地完成了分割敌人的任务。紧接着，第7师迅速进至北平东南地区，楔人南苑，并形成了对南苑机场的包围。南苑机场在当时是敌人从空中进行补给和联络的一条重要渠道，敌机正频繁进行着空运。第3纵队的野炮团也迅速赶到了南苑机场附近，并向起飞降落的飞机开炮，打得敌机不敢轻易起落。17日黄昏，第7师在炮火的配合下，向南苑机场守敌发起了进攻，全体指战员发扬了近战、夜战的光荣传统，仅几个小时就攻占了南苑机场，缴获各种飞机25架以及大量的军用物资，切断了北平敌人重要的空中补给联络线，使北平守敌大为震惊。 12月19日，敌第56师以2个团的兵力，在大炮、坦克的掩护下，对被我军攻占的南苑机场的部队进行了反扑，企图夺回机场。我第7师指战员早有准备，沉着应战，伺机歼敌。下午1时，敌向我军前沿和纵深连续炮击。随后，公路上出现了敌人的坦克，后面跟随着一群缩头缩脑的步兵。在坦克距我军阵地三四百米时，我军第354团炮2连副连长李燕华指挥向敌开火，炮弹碰在敌坦克上直冒火星，由于距离较远，坦克装甲又厚，未能阻止敌人前进。敌人发觉我炮兵阵地后，炮弹接连在炮2连阵地爆炸，2连背后的机场正面围墙被炮弹击穿，一片片地倒塌下来。当敌坦克前进到距我军阵地百余米时，2营教导员张太云亲自组织大炮、火箭筒、重机枪一齐猛烈射击，炮火纷纷飞在坦克周围，跟随在坦克后面的敌人步兵一个个吓得屁滚尿流，纷纷离开坦克，躲到公路两旁地里。这时，我大炮猛烈开火，当场打得坦克中弹起火。敌人不甘心失败，像输红了眼的赌徒，继续组织反扑。我军第354团指战员越战越猛，连续打退敌人一次又一次的猖狂进攻，始终坚守住南苑机场阵地。 我军攻占南苑机场后，北平被包围得更紧了，惊慌失措的敌人不得不在北平城内修建简易机场。我第7师发现这个情况后及时向纵队首长报告，纵队首长指示，对敌机场炮击时，一定要注意保护北平古城的历史古迹。根据这一精神，我炮兵经过详细侦察和周密计算，把每发炮弹都打到了敌人的机场上。事后，北平的群众说：“解放军的炮兵真神，炮弹都打在了敌人的机场上。”
