43军的渡海部队，在副军长龙书金和128师师长黄荣海、政委相炜的率领下，先头部队384团2营于17日凌晨4时登陆后，也在林诗湾的雷公岛、玉包港、才芳岭一带相继登陆。黄荣海带领383团为先头部队，相炜带领382团为第二梯队。渡海出发时，黄荣海和相炜约定：谁先登陆，谁就点火为号。黄荣海乘坐的指挥船首先登岸，他即指挥师部特务营2个排，抢占滩头阵地，并抓着野藤攀上屹立在海边的才芳岭，炸毁了岭上的敌碉堡，歼敌1个排，抢占了制高点。
他们占领这个制高点后，从敌人地堡里缴获了敌防卫总司令部下发的一个指示，内称：“今晚北面共军电台活动频繁，各据点务必注意，不可轻心。”
正当敌防卫总司令部的指挥官们还在睡梦中时，我渡海大军已开始登陆。
黄荣海命令在岸上燃起三堆火，以告示后续部队。
第二梯队见到岸上燃起的火光，知道先头部队已登陆，遂加快了航行速度。相炜和382团张士杰团长在一条船上，因这条船是机帆船，速度比较快，冲在了船队的最前边，首先靠岸。
张士杰等人上岸后，一鼓作气，拿下了敌人的2个地堡，消灭敌人1个班，接着又消灭敌人的1个炮兵阵地。随后，相炜带领船上的人也都上了岸。
这时，到处是枪声，向哪里冲锋呢？相炜果断地决定：向枪声密集的地方靠拢。进攻中，左前方有敌人1个暗堡，威胁我军后续部队，相炜同警卫人员一举攻克了这个碉堡，并继续向纵深发展。
在这一带守卫的是敌人1个营，开始时，敌营长还命令士兵硬顶，可是，一见我军的凌厉攻势，这个营长胆怯了，拉上他的老婆悄悄地潜逃了。可他没逃出多远，就被当地群众发觉，俘获之后交给了解放军。这个营长虽然换上了当地老百姓的服装，但还是没有瞒过老百姓警惕的眼睛。
43军部队攻占滩头阵地后，迅速插至桥头墟，以迅雷不及掩耳的闪电攻势，围歼了守敌64军1个团。紧接着于当晚歼灭了花场墟的守敌，其余敌军夺路向福山市逃窜。
负责前来接应43军登陆部队的127师加强团、383团加强营及琼纵3总的1、3团，在向登陆场开进的途中，遭敌阻拦，故无法赶到登陆场接应。当接应部队赶到福山墟时，渡海部队已登陆完毕，接应部队与渡海部队取得联系，遂将福山的守敌包围起来，两支部队于18日拂晓在福山附近胜利会师。
43军384团2营胜利登陆后，与滩岸之敌展开猛打猛冲的激烈战斗，巩固滩岸，扩大战果，掩护后续部队登陆
为了了解敌人情况，刘鑫经审问俘虏得知，清澜港地带，敌人有1个团防守，岸上没有修筑什么坚固的工事，大部分是利用自然地形修筑的堑壕、掩体，只有烟墩、迈号两地有碉堡和工事；现主要兵力都在纵深……”
营部根据俘虏口供的情况，立即召开了各连连干：部会议，介绍了2营当面敌情，并确定了下步任务：
一是要继续扩大登陆地段，掩护后续部队登陆；二是向烟墩、迈号及纵深发展进攻，歼灭烟墩和迈号之敌。后续部队大部登陆后，2营便向黄竹、美亭方向发起进攻。尔后除按师、团的命令行动外，还要发扬哪里有敌人就奔向哪里打，以多打胜仗，多消灭敌人为战斗原则。
2营攻打烟墩、迈号的具体任务是：6连从沿海向烟墩穿插迂回；4连从右翼穿插迂回；5连从烟墩正面攻击；营机炮连重机枪和迫击炮加强到3个连，对烟墩之敌形成包围，继而全歼。
会后，各连干部回
