Chapter 55 Letter to Yan Xishan[1]

(May 25, 1936) Mr. Baichuan: Our army marched westward, expressing the cessation of the civil war, promoting the awakening of your ministry and the Chiang family, and achieving the goal of jointly resisting Japan.Weiri is electrified[2] or it may not be delivered, so I will make a copy and ask head Guo[3] to bring it back, and I will pray for review. The great plan of saving the country cannot be done by a single hand. Our army's resistance to Japan was blocked, but this ambition is as it was yesterday, with thousands of twists and turns, and the goal is not achieved. It is also expected that Mr. and others will eventually wake up one day.I heard that Mr. Jiang's persecution is getting worse, forcing the Jin army to enter Shaanxi for the second time, and using the central army to monitor the latter. It is Jiang's heart that has no regrets. There is no match for traitors and traitors. The soldiers and people of the Three Jins must feel the same. .If you, sir, can unite with our side to fight against Japan and Chiang Kai-shek, then our comrades are willing to stand on a common front with the Jin army and get rid of this public enemy of the Chinese people.

Commander Guo and the officers and soldiers of your army will all be given preferential treatment. They belong to the same country, and they won't win by force. We have absolutely no pride in our side. Weapons and ammunition, if you lose everything, you will gain it. Mr. Liang and the leaders of your army should not hold any grudges. Now send the head of Guo back to Jin, write a handwritten letter face to face, if you have something to teach, beg Guo Jun to come again, so as to communicate with the two parties, establish an understanding, and deal with the common enemy. The magistrate of Jixian County stays here temporarily [4], and he should be ordered to return to Jin Dynasty if it is delayed. The national crisis is urgent, and it is difficult for the sages of the Three Jin Dynasties to sit idly by.
