Chapter 26 Preferential treatment of wounded and sick soldiers

1. The phenomenon and impact of the pain of wounded and sick soldiers (1) The health institutions in all units of the army are not perfect, there are few medical officers, few medicines, insufficient stretcher equipment, and few and unsound staff. As a result, many wounded and sick soldiers not only cannot receive adequate treatment, that is, rough preliminary treatment is not always available. can not get. (2) The military and political organs of the whole army do not pay enough attention to wounded and sick soldiers, such as: 1. For the health of the health institutions, not only have they not done their best, but they have simply paid no attention to them.Health issues were rarely discussed at various meetings.

2. The officers did not try their best to comfort the wounded and sick soldiers at any time. For example, the officers gave the wounded and sick soldiers tea, covered them with blankets, and gave them condolences at any time. The habits of the officers were almost nonexistent in the Red Army.The officials took an indifferent attitude towards the wounded and sick soldiers, and even expressed dislike for them. 3. During the march, the officers and even the soldiers showed no sympathy for the wounded soldiers who fell behind along the way. Not only did they not think of anything for them, but they just scolded them blindly or drove them out mercilessly.

(3) Severely wounded and sick soldiers do not have enough supplies and expenses. Wounded soldiers have no clothes for seven or eight days after their injuries. Sick officers have maintenance fees, but sick soldiers do not. (4) Disadvantages of Jiaoyang Hospital: 1. Disorganized state; 2. There are too few medical officers and medicines; 3. Medical officials sell private medicines; 4. Unclean; 5. Not enough warm clothes and quilts; 6. There are too few guards; 7. Poor diet; 8. The house is narrow; 9. The relationship with the local people is not good, so that wounded and sick soldiers see hospitals like prisons and are unwilling to stay in the rear.

The above-mentioned bad treatment of wounded and sick soldiers will have the following effects: 1. Make the soldiers dissatisfied with the Red Army, "The Red Army is good, as long as it doesn't bring flowers and doesn't get sick", this kind of public opinion is almost universal among all soldiers and even lower-level officials; 2. Soldiers are dissatisfied with the officers, increasing the gap between officers and soldiers; 3. Soldiers and lower-level officials are afraid of carrying flowers, so the combat effectiveness of the Red Army is reduced; 4. Many deserters;

5. Influence the workers and peasants and reduce their courage to join the Red Army. Second, the solution (1) The military and government agencies can no longer be as inattentive to health problems as before. In the future, all kinds of meetings should fully discuss health problems. (2) The organization of health institutions should be especially sound. Those who handle affairs should be found to be capable, and people who are not needed in other places should not be stuffed into the health team, and more people should be added to achieve the goal of complete care.The problems of fewer doctors and fewer medicines should be solved as much as possible.For doctors, we should pay attention to urging them to see a doctor in detail, not carelessly.

(3) Officers, especially company officers who are close to soldiers, should visit wounded and sick soldiers at any time, give them tea, and cover them with quilts at night. If they feel cold, they should find ways for them, such as borrowing , add clothes.The above-mentioned methods of recruiting wounded and sick soldiers should be established as a system and practiced by everyone, because this is the method that can best win over the masses. (4) For wounded and sick soldiers who fell behind along the march: 1. Forbid anyone to scold or ridicule them; 2. When wounded and sick soldiers are required to give way, tell him well, and don't push him away;

3. No matter which unit or organization, if someone falls behind due to illness or injury, whether it is a combat soldier or not, he must immediately send someone to greet him. If he is seriously injured or seriously ill, he must try his best to hire a husband to carry him; 4. Every time a march is made, the rear guard must patiently take the wounded and sick soldiers who are behind, and carry bullets back for them when necessary. (5) Pocket money should be given to wounded and sick soldiers according to the severity of the injury or illness. Those who are seriously injured or ill will be given a little more than those who are slightly injured or ill.As for the recuperation fee, for those who are particularly seriously injured or seriously ill, they should be paid at their own discretion regardless of whether they are officers or soldiers.

(6) Regarding the issue of clothing and bed sheets for wounded and sick soldiers, in addition to the government’s best efforts to purchase them, donations should be raised among officers and soldiers of each army. In addition, fundraising should be initiated among officers and soldiers of each army. A good way to arouse the spirit of mutual aid in the whole army. (7) There should be plans to correct the many shortcomings of the Jiaoyang rear hospital.In addition, donations (clothes, quilts, cash, food) should be initiated among the workers and peasants in western Fujian to closely connect the workers and peasants with the Red Army.
