Chapter 7 Conversation delivered at Chongqing Airport

(August 28, 1945) I came to Chongqing this time at the invitation of Mr. Chiang Kai-shek, Chairman of the National Government, to discuss the grand plan of building a unified country. Now that the War of Resistance Against Japan has ended victoriously and China is about to enter a period of peaceful construction, the current timing is extremely important. The most urgent thing at present is to ensure domestic peace, implement democratic politics, and consolidate domestic unity.Various urgent problems in domestic politics and military affairs should be resolved reasonably on the basis of peace, democracy, and unity, so as to realize the unification of the whole country and build an independent, free, prosperous and strong new China.I hope that all anti-Japanese political parties and patriots in China will unite and work together to achieve the above tasks.I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Chiang Kai-shek for his invitation.
