(October 26, 1949) Comrades in Yan'an and compatriots in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region: I am very happy and grateful to receive your congratulatory letter.From 1936 to 1948, Yan'an and the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region were once the seat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the general rear of the Chinese people's struggle for liberation.The people of Yan'an and the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region have made great contributions to the people of the whole country.I congratulate the people of Yan'an and the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region for continuing to unite as one, quickly recover from the wounds of the war, and develop economic and cultural construction.I also hope that all revolutionary workers throughout the country will always maintain the style of hard work that they have had among the workers in Yan'an and the Shensi-Kansu-Ningxia Border Region over the past ten years or so.
