Chapter 19 16. Global arable land procurement

In order to ensure food self-sufficiency, the acquisition of cultivated land is the top priority of most countries in the world.China is no exception. China needs to feed 22% of the world's population with only about 7% of the world's arable land. Most of China's arable land is located in the Yangtze and Yellow River basins. It occupies the third largest territory in the world and the largest population in the world, but most of China is mountainous and plateau.Although China's agricultural output is the largest in the world, it still needs to find arable land. China is shifting from traditional crops to vegetable production. If China's agricultural product processing industry still needs to be improved at present, then China will develop this field into a strong point in the next few years.

In terms of the income gap between urban and rural populations, the rural issue is an important issue that Chinese leaders must first address.Agriculture is the main source of income for the rural population, which accounts for half of China's total population. Therefore, reforms are needed to avoid social crisis due to social instability, improve the level of modernization in rural areas, and ensure balanced development between urban and rural areas. The 12th Five-Year Plan from 2011 to 2015 aims to increase farmers' income and provide them with tax incentives and social benefits.Except for some dramatic periods, China has always figured out how to feed a country larger than the entire population of Europe.

Despite having a variety of arable land—despite a very limited area, diverse technologies, multiple farming methods, high yields, and variable climate—China is still deficient in many ways. China's agriculture has undergone earth-shaking changes.China has become an important import and export country in the world agricultural product market. In the future, there will be no globalization without passing through China, which is the only way to pass through. The same is true for agricultural product processing. Given its large population and large food needs, China is in short supply of agricultural products such as rice, soybeans, corn, rapeseed, barley, cotton and meat.It has been importing food, especially wine, spirits and other products.

Considering the cost of food resources, dozens of Chinese agricultural product companies located in more than 30 countries on five continents are continuously purchasing tens of thousands of hectares of farmland and arable land. Africa is no longer a major supplier of agricultural products to China. The Chinese have leased and purchased arable land on a large scale in Russia, Kazakhstan (400km), and vast lands in Africa and Latin America. They also want to buy land in the countries of the USSR and in the Quebec region of Canada... China invests extensively around the world to support its own economy and realize exchange trade. In the face of the emergence of China, the United States and Europe will no longer be, or be considered, "the center of the world."

So, a farm in Africa will produce rice for the Chinese. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, China's ZTE International has acquired 3 million hectares of forest to plant palm trees. In Cambodia, Laos, Zimbabwe and other countries, Chinese land acquisition and leasing are developing rapidly.Corn, rice, cassava, hevea, sugar cane, eucalyptus, palms, rubber trees, forests, pastures, and a variety of crops all gave new impetus to the economy. It is very easy for China to set up factories abroad, because Chinese people in Africa and other countries adhere to the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, and pursue a pragmatic foreign policy, which is the key to success.China will not meddle in the domestic and internal affairs of any country in which it invests.

In terms of economic growth, trade, import and export, finance, regulations, agreements, and international markets, the future way of issuing international licenses will change. What is true today may not be true tomorrow!
