Chapter 16 13. Resources and Environment

Today, China has a very clear understanding of environmental issues. But China and other emerging countries believe that developing and developed countries should not be treated equally. There is much disagreement on this issue, but the debate centers on opposing views in two broad categories: On the one hand, for developed countries that have reached a certain level of development, they hope that all countries will be subject to the same constraints on environmental protection issues; On the other hand, developing countries believe that they have the right to have a period of time to develop themselves, bridge the gap with developed countries, bring their people to the same standard of living, and then fight against environmental problems such as climate anomalies together with developed countries.

Despite the many differences at the international meeting, there is hope if the discussions are going on!The US, Europe, China and others are already talking and setting goals... China states that economic development is its main task, while combating climate change is also one of its priorities. After analyzing the problem, China puts forward the following suggestions: For developed countries: should take the lead in reducing greenhouse gas emissions; For developing countries: positive measures should be taken to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; Enhance technical strength: create a low-energy society, optimize energy, and strengthen environmental protection.

China, as a big carbon dioxide emitter, made these proposals! But beyond its recommendations, it took concrete steps to address this challenge. China's future position is that actions against climate change should promote economic development rather than hinder it.Specifically, sustainable development, emphasizing the environment, clean energy, biodiversity, resource optimization, waste utilization, and low carbon dioxide emissions, etc., will become the focus of the country's work! This means that China will face major challenges: continue to promote economic development while pursuing policies to counteract climate abnormalities, and meet its demand for vast resources while protecting the ecological environment.
