Huang Tieying is about to publish a book again, and invited me to write a preface for his book.Although I am not good at this, but after reading this book, I still think it is worth writing. This book tells the story of Haidilao, its way of operation, management, talent and success. The story of Haidilao confirms the "market logic" I mentioned. In the book "The Logic of the Market", I wrote: The so-called market is a system in which others decide whether it is good or bad, not your own. The basic logic of the market is: if a person wants to be happy, he (or she) must first make others happy.More generally speaking, self-interest first benefits others.

For example, if a producer wants to make a profit, he must provide consumers with satisfactory products or services and create value for consumers; if an entrepreneur wants to have employees follow him and become the boss of others, he must provide employees with good enough wages. and working conditions, and are jointly and severally liable for the latter’s actions; workers must produce products that customers want to buy if they are to have jobs that support their families and improve their lives.Market competition is essentially a competition to create value for others.Enterprises that cannot create value for others will inevitably be eliminated in the competition. This logic of the market transforms individuals' pursuit of wealth and happiness into a driving force for creating social wealth and promoting social progress.Hence, the rise of the Western world in the past 200 years and the economic miracle of China in the past 30 years!

The market is not only an invisible hand, but also an invisible eye.The invisible hand guides people to do the right thing, and the invisible eye supervises people to do things well and build a good reputation. It is this invisible hand and invisible eye that enables strangers who are thousands of miles away and who have never met each other to carry out division of labor and cooperation, provide mutual services, improve people's lives, and promote human progress. As shown in this book, the success of Haidilao lies in the fact that it always regards the happiness of customers and employees as the prerequisite for making money, and puts reputation first. In Haidilao, the customer is the real "boss", and the employee's job satisfaction is evaluated by the customer; and the employee's ability to work happily is an important guarantee for the customer to be truly satisfied. This is easy to say, but it is not easy to actually do it. It depends on a set of management methods and corporate culture, and also depends on the business philosophy and mind of the business leaders.Haidilao did it!

This book consists of more than 50 short essays, each of which tells a short story, but it is fascinating to read.Huang Tieying's previous books were all bestsellers, and I believe this book will also be a bestseller, because it brings happiness to readers!
