Chapter 11 Section 10: Are there any Americans happy because of the '9·11' incident?

According to Christian logic, God must have known about this and probably was there at the time, but God still allowed the tragedy to happen, and it happened completely: two buildings completely collapsed, and no one inside miraculously survived. What does it mean? During a mass at the White House, a prominent American pastor tried to explain the matter. He said that the so-called mystery is something that only God knows, and the "9.11" terrorist incident is a kind of mystery. He frankly said that he didn't know what this mystery meant? This is the frank confession of a priest who is very famous in the United States at the mass held in the White House.

Everyone knows that most of the people in those two sister buildings are American elites. They didn't make any big mistakes, they didn't deserve such a disaster, but why did it happen to them?Do they go to heaven or hell after they die? This question is relatively easy to answer. The pastor said, I believe they have all reached heaven by now. What a glorious thing this is to them. What the pastor said was just a beautiful guess. He couldn't produce any solid evidence to prove that those dead souls are now in heaven. People don't actually believe the pastor's words, and this comforting statement cannot be used to disprove it.Why should we weep and mourn if the souls who died are now in heaven with glory? We should sing and celebrate. The biggest reason we hate terrorists now is that terrorists kill innocent people indiscriminately. But since those innocent people who were killed all ascended to a blissful paradise after death, why do we hate the indiscriminate killing of terrorists so much?

There is actually a logical confusion here.If we look at it logically, going to heaven after death is the highest reward that religion promises to the world. If we know that the dead person went to heaven, but hate the terrorists who caused him to go to heaven, it can only prove that the world likes heaven far less than the earth. When we see our loved ones go to heaven, we are not happy, but distraught. In fact, the status of heaven and hell in people's hearts is almost the same. Since the world's realistic attitude toward heaven is like this, isn't Christianity, which regards heaven as its ultimate goal, based on people's vain beliefs?Human beings are so strange. The people of the world who enter the church to seek the final destination of their souls are fundamentally opposed to Christianity in terms of reality. We hope to go to heaven, but we are very sad for those who have already gone to heaven, and for those who lead our friends to go to heaven, we not only do not thank them, but also hate them to the bone, and we must try to kill them all as soon as possible.

I have actually mentioned two major dilemmas above: God’s moral dilemma, heaven’s likes and dislikes dilemma, and another dilemma is the dilemma of love.In the Bible, Jesus had a great saying, "We are to love our enemies." Unfortunately, the most Christians can do is love our little enemies, but never our big enemies . Who dares to say in the United States, "I love bin Laden!" This sentence is completely in line with the teachings of Jesus, but Christians in the United States collectively choose to violate the teachings of Jesus. This selective understanding of Christian doctrine is most naturally applied to American Christians.

This kind of abuse makes people fall into the above three logical dilemmas without knowing it.People lost in logical dilemmas are often short-sighted, will history prove it? A Carnival of "Cause and Effect" in the Collective Subconscious On the day of "9.11", the traffic in Manhattan was completely paralyzed, and I could only walk from 10th Street back to my apartment on 76th Street. When I got home, I saw the message phone flashing, and I heard a message from my Indian friend Johnny. On the phone, his voice was urgent and excited, asking if I was safe.I immediately gave him a call.

"I'm relieved that you're still alive." Johnny laughed out loud when he heard my voice. "Hey, Johnny, my place is so far from the World Trade Center, what's the problem?" "You are my good friend, of course I want to care about you!" "I look very excited to hear your voice, what's the matter with you?" "What's going on? Today is the happiest day for me. These robbers finally got their retribution." Johnny laughed again on the phone. "This gang of robbers?" I didn't react for a while. "Yes, these bandits invaded our land and slaughtered our people hundreds of years ago. Don't they deserve retribution?" Johnny's voice on the other end of the phone became hardened.

"Johnny, it's not just white people who died in this building." "I know." Johnny sighed: "But it's hard for you to understand the complicated feelings of our Native Americans." Johnny doesn't like to use Indians, but prefers to call himself Native Americans. "Johnny, does this mean you personally, or the majority of Native Americans?" "What do you think?" Johnny asked me slyly. "I'm just asking you?" "This is a blood feud. Our Native American ancestors endured terrorist attacks worse than 9/11 hundreds of years ago. Now the United States can have enough power to take revenge, but what about us? We may never be able to." Revenge for this."

Johnny's words stirred up ripples in my heart. The Chinese people have been insulted by world powers since the Opium War in 1840, and there are indeed similarities with the hatred of Native Americans. The difference is that China is growing stronger, while Native Americans can only acquiesce in the status quo. So, I thought of a very interesting psychological test question.I ask many Americans this question: "Can you imagine any American happy because of the '9.11' incident?" "How is this possible?" said the vast majority of Americans. "Please think again about this possibility," I insisted.

"Middle Eastern American, then?" was the most natural guess. "Guess again." I did not approve of this answer. "Then I don't know." The American was stumped by my question. "Native American." "Oh, I see what you mean." About 8 out of 10 Americans immediately understand the meaning of this answer. Of course, some Americans said: "These are two different things, how can they be brought together." "Because you're not Native American, of course you don't feel that way." In psychotherapy, there is a very important principle of "in-depth observation", that is, put your feet into the other person's shoes and try it out, in order to try to understand the other person's true feelings. We know of course that not all Native Americans think like Johnny, but Johnny's thinking confirms the belief in "karma" hidden in the collective subconscious of mankind.

Project hate onto the white skin of the WTO After "9.11", the topic of psychological counseling will naturally focus on this terrorist attack.I asked Ruth, a black patient, what she thought of the "9.11" incident. "Those two white buildings could have collapsed long ago." "Why do you say that?" "Didn't you notice that it was a white building?" "Silver to be exact," I said. "Silver, huh, that's white, the white of white people." Ruth's words were full of hatred, and it was obvious that she projected her hatred of white people onto the color of the World Trade Center.

"There are also many black employees in the World Trade Center." I reminded. "Of course I know that. The reason I'm glad these two white buildings have finally collapsed is because they were a symbol of white-centered capitalism at its peak, a symbol of capitalist wealth, technology, and splendor. But What I want to say is, what does this have to do with me? I am an African-American who has suffered from white racism and is still living on the edge of poverty. Why should I regret the collapse of that white building?" Ruth's anger seemed to be Open the floodgates. It is difficult for us to imagine the anger in the hearts of black Americans.Against the backdrop of such a shocking event as "9.11", the patriotic enthusiasm shown by black Americans has another kind of unspeakable and complicated emotion than white people. Regarding the question in the previous paragraph, "Are there any Americans happy because of the '9.11' incident?", after I mentioned "Native Americans", a black person immediately interjected: "Why not black? We black people After so many years of slavery for white people in America, we also have an unsolved hatred." It can be seen that the "9.11" incident not only disturbed people's normal life rhythm, but also stirred up people's depressed emotions deep in their hearts. Ruth projects her hatred of white people onto the whiteness of the World Trade Center, and I ask her what does she think of the Chicago skyscraper, the Sears Tower, being black?Ruth grinned and said, "I've always lived in New York and never been to Chicago. I'm already very angry at this point. Why do you think I have never been to Chicago when I grow up? Isn't it because of poverty? "
