Most of the views and ideas in this book come from my working experience. In my daily outpatient and clinical work, I have witnessed many people avoiding maturity, and I have also witnessed many people struggling for maturity. Therefore, there are many real cases in the book. One of the most important principles of psychotherapy is to keep confidentiality for patients. Therefore, the names and other details of these cases have been changed to a certain extent. personal privacy. However, most of the descriptions of the patients' conditions in this book are very brief, concealing part of the truth, which must be inevitable. In fact, psychotherapy is a complicated process, which can rarely be achieved immediately and overnight, and I have to concentrate on describing some key parts, which may give the reader the impression that my account of the treatment process is not only dramatic, And concise.Dramatization is a fact, and brevity of narrative may exist as well, but I would like to add: In most treatments, I experience chronic confusion and depression as an unavoidable consequence, just for the sake of readability Consideration, the details and feelings, are almost completely omitted by me.

I also apologize for the use of traditional masculine images in this book when it comes to "God", but this is only for the convenience of narrative, not for any deep-rooted gender concepts I have. As a psychiatrist, I think that from the very beginning, the two basic premises of this book should be explained. The first premise is this: I do not make a distinction between "mind" and "spirit", and therefore I do not make a clear distinction between "spiritual maturity" and "mental maturity", which are in fact one and the same. thing. Another premise is that the journey of mental maturity is a complex and daunting, and lifelong task.Psychotherapy can provide excellent help for mental maturity, but it is never a quick, simple process of treatment.I do not belong to any school of psychiatry or psychotherapy, nor do I simply support Freud, Jung, Adler, or any theory of behavioral psychology or morphological psychology.I don't believe in one treatment, one solution, that solves all problems.Of course, single forms of psychotherapy may help, and so we should not take them lightly, but it is clear that the help they provide is not only superficial but also weak.

The journey of mental maturity has been a long one, and I would like to express my gratitude to my loyal patients—who have accompanied me through the most important parts of the journey—whose journey has been mine as well, and this book Most of the content of the book is actually everything we have experienced and learned together.I would also like to thank my many teachers and colleagues, most importantly my wife, Lily, for her wisdom and generosity in my roles as spouse, parent, and therapist.
