Chapter 92 92

Emile 卢梭 270Words 2018-03-18
If a child can't understand vocabulary at all, no class is right for them.If they don't have ideas yet, they don't have a memory in the real sense, and I don't mean a memory that only evokes sensations. What good is it to carve into their minds a string of symbols that means nothing to them? When they learn things, they naturally know the symbols for these things, so why bother to learn them twice? And what a dangerous prejudice you instill in them when you give them knowledge of words they don't understand at all.It is of no use to him not to look at it. The first meaningless wording, the first thing he learns when he takes other people's language for granted, is the beginning of impaired judgment for a child. It might dazzle fools for a long time before he realizes the loss.
